Putin Demands US ‘Missile Shield’ Plans

From an unfazed Associated Press:

Putin: U.S. Missile Shield Holding Up Nuke Deal

Tuesday, December 29, 2009

MOSCOW — Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Tuesday urged Washington to provide Moscow with data about U.S. missile defense developments as part of an information exchange under a new arms treaty.

Putin’s remarks carried by Russian news agencies signaled difficulties in talks between the two nations on a successor to the 1991 Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty that expired on Dec. 5. Moscow and Washington had hoped to strike a deal before the end of the year but problems persist

Putin said that Russia is ready to provide the U.S. with some data about its new missiles, but wants the U.S. to share information about its missile defense plans in return…

But Putin warned that a missile defense system would give the U.S. an edge and could erode the deterrent value of Russia’s nuclear forces.

"The problem is that our American partners are developing missile defenses, and we are not," he said.

"But the problems of missile defense and offensive weapons are closely linked. … There could be a danger that our partners would feel totally safe after creating such an umbrella and would do what they want. After the balance is broken, they will become more aggressive." …

"They should give us information about the missile defense, and we will be ready to provide information about offensive weapons," Putin said.

Russia had been pushing for an explicit link in the new treaty between offensive weapons and missile defense. A joint statement in July by Medvedev and Obama linked the two, but the U.S. will be unlikely to accept any missile defense restrictions.

Who says anything is unlikely under Mr. Obama?

We already see how happy he was to give away the European missile shield – and for what?

Indeed, the CNN seems to capture Mr. Putin’s mood far better:

Putin: Russia to develop offensive weapons to keep balance with U.S.

From Maxim Tkachenko, CNN
December 29, 2009

Moscow, Russia (CNN) — Russia needs to develop "offensive strike systems" to preserve strategic balance with the United States, without producing its own missile defense, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Tuesday.

Putin’s comment, made at a press briefing in the far eastern Russian city of Vladivostok, echoed a similar call from Russian President Dmitry Medvedev last week…

Last week, in Medvedev’s year-end live interview with three Russian TV channels, he reiterated that Russia will continue to develop strategic offensive missiles after the signing of the new START treaty.

"This is normal," Medvedev said. "The whole world is doing this. Of course, this work needs to take place within the framework of conventions and agreements, including our future agreements with the Americans. But this process will continue and our nuclear shield will always be effective and sufficient for protecting our national interest."

Medvedev added, "That doesn’t mean that we cannot talk about a nuclear-free world. It’s a beautiful and right goal. But we should approach it gradually. … Not only Russians and Americans, but also other countries who are looking forward to joining the ‘nuclear club,’ thus causing many problems, should take part in it."

Russia is just as much an enemy as ever.

In fact, even more so, now that they sense weakness.

Why is this article so honest? Could it be that Putin accidentally spoke the truth of why they are opposed to our missile defense systems? The ones our scientists claim “don’t work?”

Too bad our traitor in chief will likely hand over whatever information Putin needs to allow his missiles to escape detection and destruction, and of course will also pass that information on to anyone willing to purchase it, say his good friends in Iran.

  2. Wanderlust says:

You mean the Soviets are willing to share data about crappy missile systems that don’t work, in return for US technology that is proven…? Say it ain’t so, Vlad!

The horrid thing is, Barry Soetoro will be stupid enough to do just that. Watch.

    Aaaah.

So now we begin to understand what transparency means.

Silly us. We thought it meant transparency about domestic policies.

Putin: Vee Vant all your informations about your sekret miss-eyle defences, Da?

Obama: Heh, just how stupid do you think I am?

Putin: vell, dat depends. Just how stupid are you?

For a few bucks more, dingleBarry will give you Stealth technology to go with that missile plan.

  7. puhiawa says:

Russia has two huge missile defense shields in place: a national one and one around Moscow. Both are ultra secret and America is allowed no information on any aspect, including tests. But, hey, I’m sure Obama know that.//////////

  8. MinnesotaRush says:

Every one of our enemies is ernormously embolded because of this boy president, o-blah-blah!

The sickening and frightening piece to this is certainly that this o-blah-blah nitwit may comply with Putin’s ‘demands’.

    God help us!!!

  9. Chuckk says:

I’m surprised Putin had to ask for the plans. Obama should have been sensitive enough to give them to him without being asked.

    .
Putin is our enemy for the most part.

But that said, I get some yucks watching him turn Red Hussein into his bitch.

I cannot think of a single standard by which men are measured, according to which Putin is not Red Hussein’s superior.

  11. Reality Bytes says:

And Obama’s just the guy to give it to him!
