Putin ‘Rebuffs’ Obama In 1 Hour Telephone Call

From Reuters:

Putin rebuffs Obama as Ukraine crisis escalates

MOSCOW/SIMFEROPOL, Ukraine (Reuters) – President Vladimir Putin rebuffed a warning from U.S. President Barack Obama over Moscow’s military intervention in Crimea, saying on Friday that Russia could not ignore calls for help from Russian speakers in Ukraine.

We have to admit we’re surprised Reuters would embarrass their Messiah with such a headline and lead. But it’s probably not that they love Obama less, but they love Putin more.

After all, as wonderful as a socialist community organizer is, Obama is still no match for a full fledged hard-nosed Communist dictator like Putin. (Though it’s a close call.)

After an hour-long telephone call, Putin said in a statement that Moscow and Washington were still far apart on the situation in the former Soviet republic, where he said the new authorities had taken "absolutely illegitimate decisions on the eastern, southeastern and Crimea regions.

And it took them an hour to say that?

Anyway, even though our news media will never report it, the Ukrainian parliament had every legal right to dissolve the government. That’s the way the Parliamentarian systems roll. (As the kids say.)

"Russia cannot ignore calls for help and it acts accordingly, in full compliance with international law," Putin said…

And never mind that Russia signed the Budapest Memorandums that guaranteed Ukraine’s sovereignty and borders.

The most serious east-west confrontation since the end of the Cold War… escalated on Thursday when Crimea’s parliament, dominated by ethnic Russians, voted to join Russia. The region’s government set a referendum for March 16 – in just nine days’ time.

European Union leaders and Obama denounced the referendum as illegitimate, saying it would violate Ukraine’s constitution…

While all that is true, the thought of Obama denouncing any politicians for violating a constitution is so rich in irony even Putin must have laughed.

The EU, Russia’s biggest economic partner and energy customer, adopted a three-stage plan to try to force a negotiated solution but stopped short of immediate sanctions…

The EU will do diddly-squat because they are afraid it will hurt their collective pocketbooks. Yet they claime that we Americans are the ones who are obsessed with money.

In their telephone call, Obama said he urged Putin to accept the terms of a potential diplomatic solution to the dispute over Crimea that would take account of Russia’s legitimate interests in the region…

In other words, Obama will give Putin what he wants if he is just less obvious about it.

Putin was defiant on Ukraine, where he said the pro-Russian Yanukovich had been ousted in an "anti-constitutional coup"…

Again, it wasn’t a coup. It’s what Parliaments do all the time.

“Russia cannot ignore calls for help and it acts accordingly….” – V. Putin

    Help! (I’m calling for help.)

We were wondering if Russia would please send some troops to help us defend our border along the Rio Grande? I mean, because we obviously can’t do it all by ourselves, right? I mean, that’s like settled science.

Help! (I’m still calling for help.)

And because, like the Ukraine, we are losing big chunks of territory to the Reconquista.

    Help! (Still calling.)

Because all of America’s resources are tied up in punishing the Dark Lord’s “enemies.”

And if you don’t believe it, just ask Lois “On-the-advice-of-my-counsel-I-respectfully-exercise-my-blah-blah” Lerner.

And besides, it’s important that Nerobama have his vacations. I mean, he’s like a real corporate jet owner, man.

    Help!

And he’s plum tuckered out from doing all these fundamental transformations.

    Help!

  2. I picture Vlad giving Barry a smack on the back of the head and saying, “Whaddya gonna do about it? HUH? [shove] Punk? Gimme your lunch money too!”

Then Obama hands over his lunch money, the keys to our nuclear arsenal, and as much money as he can have printed if Vlad will just stop smacking his melon.
