Politico: Holder: New media guidelines in weeks

    By Hadas Gold – Jan 14 2014

Holder said he had hoped to have the guidelines done by the hearing but that there was a “glitch toward the end,” though he didn’t go into specifics.

One would be a “media review committee,” that will assess the impact of the department’s new media policies.

The second is the “media dialogue group” involving outsiders who would assist the department periodically to review how the reforms are being implemented.

Forbes: Yahoo Hacked and how to Protect Your Passwords

    Jan 31 2014

Yahoo don’t have a history of providing much information but it would be prudent for any Yahoo mail users to take precautions (more on that below). Between the vague statements about malicious code and “a third party was probably to blame” Yahoo has been resetting the credentials of affected users via e-mail and SMS if your mobile is on file.

Whilst details are scarce at this time this continues a trend of bad security and resilience news for Yahoo who experienced a multitude of issues in 2013.

The company made clear in their announcement that a third party database with shared credentials was likely the source and that they had no evidence the usernames and passwords were taken directly form their systems. Whether the third party was one they provided data to, or whether it was a random third party with shared credentials is not particularly clear. There is insufficient detail to lay blame at this time, but certainly it would be prudent to take steps to secure yourself.

FOX News reported this yesterday and their disappointment too in Yahoo not reporting it, however gave a figure of those hacked was nearing 300 million users. They gave similar advice as to Forbes.

We may never know, but can only guess.

The Daily Caller must be short of readers to resort to this headline

The Daily Caller: Cruel, Heartless Obama Mocks his Most Loyal, Unquestioning Supporters

    Feb 1 2014

In a speech in Wisconsin on Thursday, President Barack Obama insulted perhaps the most fervent members of his political base: art history majors.

“A lot of parents, unfortunately, maybe when they saw a lot of manufacturing being offshored[sic], told their kids you don’t want to go into the trades, you don’t want to go into manufacturing because you’ll lose your job,” the president opined. “Well, the problem is that what happened — a lot of young people no longer see the trades and skilled manufacturing as a viable career.”

So far, so good. Then, however, Obama went on the offensive against America’s most useless major that doesn’t have the word “studies” or “gender” in it.

“But I promise you, folks can make a lot more, potentially, with skilled manufacturing or the trades than they might with an art history degree,” Obama declared.

The president seems to have caught himself pretty quickly.

“Now, nothing wrong with an art history degree — I love art history,” he then swore.

The White House press apparatus dutifully recorded that the gathered crowd engaged in laughter at this point and again right after Obama quipped: “So I don’t want to get a bunch of emails from everybody.”

Since Obama’s speech, America’s small and tremendously weak art history lobby has sprung into action.

How will you celebrate World Hijab Day today?

The politically clumsy moment occurred during the president’s remarks at General Electric’s Waukesha Gas Engines facility.

The irate reporter should have noted that Obama is blaming parents, when he dumped a ton of $$$$ federal stimulus money into “the arts”, and during one speech even advised our youth to become teachers which always gives him a big applaud.

He is so out of touch, he may not be aware of High School public school teachers becoming so desperate for jobs they now offer more art history classes than ever in the United States.
Spanish Art History, Asian Art History, etc etc, along with Manicure & Pedicure Art, Facials Massages, etc.

Bami is perplexed on lack of college graduates in the US and half the graduates unable to find jobs.

Awesome! Disney Introduces First Openly Gay Couple on “Good Luck Charlie”
    By Babble.com | Jan 30, 2014 6:15 PM EST

“It is merely a reflection of what our rich cultural tapestry is really like, something that was intentional on Disney’s part. “Like all Disney Channel programming, it was developed to be relevant to kids and families around the world and to reflect themes of diversity and inclusiveness,” Disney said in a statement.

This is the first notable time we can recall that a same-sex couple has been represented on a big children’s network, and it may prove to be an important step in the evolution of programming for kids.”

Awesome, it ain’t. Disney is going after our kids and attempting to brainwash them with the gay propaganda. There is no safe place left for kids to be kids…

    • Curiosity says:

I thought I recall something about Sesame Street having a homosexual couple. My quick search brought up a bunch of stuff on Bert and Ernie, I thought there was something else before that.

I would search more, but it’s not a great use of gov’t time =\

I’ll have to make sure my godson stops watching that show now. Thanks Disney.

No shock, aside from the fact this is being reported by Southern California Public Radio!

Then again, they probably see it as a great anti-cop piece.

City of LA spends millions of taxpayer dollars on police union activities

In the past three years, the city of Los Angeles has spent about $3 million in taxpayer dollars to pay the salaries of nine LAPD officers who work full-time for the police department’s union.

The Los Angeles Police Protective League’s contract with the city calls for the union to reimburse the city up to $750,000 annually for officers who serve on the union’s board of directors. But KPCC has learned that three years ago the Los Angeles City Council voted to waive the requirement.

The nine directors are “released” from their normal police duties under the union’s contract with the city, and tax returns for the LAPPL show directors work 40 hours a week for the group. The city is forfeiting slightly more than $1 million a year for those officers who work for the union, according to salary data provided by the city Controller’s Office.

The police department’s union represents the thousands of rank-and-file officers of the LAPD. The union aids officers who are facing disciplinary action. Its board members lobby state and local officials on matters that affect law enforcement and issues such as pension benefits.

The board members also engage in campaign activities. The union gave $3 million to candidates over the past four years. Its support – either through endorsements or donations – has gone to 13 of the 15 current city council members.

Ah, the ever popular campaign cash for votes circle of life.

The laughter has subsided a bit now that the FBI is involved, as reported by KATU News:

Former Republican state Rep. Patrick Sheehan told the KATU Investigators he has gone to the FBI with allegations that Cover Oregon project managers initiated the design of dummy web pages to convince the federal government the project was further along than it actually was.

If Sheehan’s allegations are true, those managers could face time in jail for fraud.

“One of the allegations that was made was so alarming that it went way beyond a legislative oversight committee and so I did reach out and contact the FBI,” Sheehan said.

“The issue had to do with federal funding and proving some amount of compliance with the federal regulation in order to get funding.”

A total of $59 million flowed from federal coffers to the Cover Oregon project, whose project manager, Carolyn Lawson, came up with an “unconventional approach” to meet the benchmarks for receiving continued financial support: she faked a bunch of web pages and fooled the very easily fooled Obama Administration into subsidizing a system she didn’t actually know how to build.

In a Sept. 27, 2012 email to Bruce Goldberg – Lawson’s boss at the Oregon Health Authority, who is now in charge of Cover Oregon – she sent a link to something called “The Solution Factory,” a site hosted by software contractor Oracle.

“It demonstrates what we have built to date,” she wrote. “By watching this every month, you can see our progress in real time.”

That link is no longer operational.

One expression of this messianic fervor was the decision to silence critics by punishing the outside auditors hired to monitor the project, whose input was derided as “inaccurate and inflammatory” by Oregon Health Authority bureaucrats.

As it turns out, they were entirely accurate, but not nearly inflammatory enough.

    More from The Oregonian:

“They gave Oregon very high marks, say our design was among the best they had seen,” she wrote.

“All 13 people interviewed believed the project’s scope is ill-defined and classify it as a major risk,” reported [quality assurance contractor] Maximus.

In March, Maximus documented questions about what Lawson was showing CMS during those gate reviews.

Oregon authorities swiftly reached the same conclusion Emperor Commodus came to in “Gladiator“: shut Maximus the hell up.

Former Rep. Sheehan, who called in the FBI, and happens to have a background in web development, recalls how easily federal officials were suckered too:

With that in mind, is it excessively cynical for me to predict that Obama’s Justice Department won’t be all that eager to get to the bottom of what happened in Oregon?

Investigation on ObamaCare Site for Belarus Malicious Software

FoxNews: Possible Belarus link to ObamaCare raises concerns about cyber attack

By Bill Gertz – Feb 04, 2014 – Washington Free Beacon

U.S. intelligence agencies last week urged the Obama administration to check its new healthcare network for malicious software after learning that developers linked to the Belarus government might have helped produce the website, raising fresh concerns that private data posted by millions of Americans will be compromised.

The intelligence agencies notified the Department of Health and Human Services, the agency in charge of the HealthCare.gov network, about their concerns.

Specifically, officials warned that programmers in Belarus, a former Soviet republic closely allied with Russia, were suspected of inserting malicious code that could be used for cyber attacks, according to U.S. officials familiar with the concerns.

“The U.S. Affordable Care Act software was written in part in Belarus by software developers under state control, and that makes the software a potential target for cyber attacks,” one official said.

Cyber security officials said the potential threat to the U.S. healthcare data is compounded by what they said was an Internet data “hijacking” last year involving Belarusian state-controlled networks.

The month-long diversion covertly rerouted massive amounts of U.S. Internet traffic to Belarus — a repressive dictatorship located between Russia, Poland, and Ukraine.

Tsepkalo told a Russian radio station in an interview broadcast last summer that HHS is “one of our clients,” and that “we are helping Obama complete his insurance reform.”

Ft Collins Schools: You can’t celebrate America or wear red, white, and blue

FoxNews: You can’t celebrate America, school says

    By Todd Starnes – Feb 04, 2014

Students and parents at a Colorado high school are outraged after administrators turned down their request for a spirit week day honoring America because it might offend non-Americans.

“They said they didn’t want to offend anyone from other countries or immigrants,” a 16-year-old member of the student council told me. “They just really did not want to make anyone feel uncomfortable.”

The student council at Fort Collins High School had proposed having a day to celebrate the United States during next week’s Winter Spirit Week. The young people pitched “’Merica Monday” – and invited their classmates to dress in patriotic colors. Their proposal was promptly shot down by administrators.

Shame on the administrators at Fort Collins High School for treating American school children like second-class citizens.
“They said they didn’t want to be exclusive to any other country,” a 17-year-old member of the student council told me.

The students and parents who talked to me about this incident have asked to remain anonymous. The parents feared their children might face reprisals from liberal educators.

The irony, said the students, is that they are required to participate in Cinco de Mayo celebrations. One member of the student council pointed out the hypocrisy – and noted that students were not being forced to dress in red, white and blue for “’Merica Day.”

The principal at Fort Collins High School did not return my phone calls and neither did the assistant principal. A spokesperson for the Poudre School District sent me a statement acknowledging that they rejected the “’Merica Day” celebration.

However, parents and students said that’s not accurate. They said My Country Monday was originally rejected last week and was only reinstated midday Monday – shortly after I called the school district and began making inquiries (a coincidence, I’m sure.)

I asked the district spokesperson to clarify their statement. The spokesperson did not return my message.

    (entire shocking story)

The people of Colorado don’t even have to take a break from their peace pipes. They should go to Ft. Collins school and camp out and have a red white and blue party.

US Soldiers should go there and protest too. Grrrrr.

Russia says no to USA yogurt shipment for Olympics

The Christian Science Monitor: Russia says ‘nyet’ to Chobani yogurt for US athletes. Trade politics?

The Russian government is blocking a shipment of 5,000 little cups of Chobani yogurt to the US Olympic team in Sochi, saying that the yogurt lacks the correct paperwork to clear Russian customs.

    By Elizabeth Barber – Feb 6 2014

“At a time when the focus should be on our athletes, this seems to be a bureaucratic issue and we appreciate the support and efforts to do right by our athletes,” read a statement from Chobani.

The disputed yogurt, in strawberry, blueberry, and peach flavors, is now waiting out the diplomatic spat in temperature-controlled storage at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.

Greek yogurt has become a sweet spot, if an unexpected and even an incongruous one, these past few years in New York’s otherwise somewhat threadbare industrial sector.

Chobani, the bestselling Greek yogurt brand in the US, was founded in 2007 in South Edmeston, N.Y., and turned out to be heraldic of a boom in production of the thick, creamy stuff in New York State. Fage, a major retailer based in Greece, opened its first plant in Johnston, N.Y., in 2008.

The town of Batavia, the recipient of a federal grant to bring Greek yogurt production – and lots of jobs – to the municipality, in the past two years got two new plants producing the treat.

Sen. Charles Schumer (D) of New York, the state’s senior senator and lead policy spokesman for Senate Democrats, is also pushing to boost Greek yogurt sales by adding it to public school lunches.

So, it was little surprise on Wednesday that Senator Schumer sent a letter to Sergey Kislyak, the Russian Federation’s ambassador to Washington, calling for an end to the latest version of a cold war: Let US Olympians eat yogurt and let New York promote its yogurt industry, too.

The US Department of Agriculture is asking that Russia approve a sanitary certificate for a one-time, noncommercial shipment of Greek yogurt to Russia for the consumption of just US citizens, Schumer wrote.

In a separate statement released by his office, Schumer was more blunt: “Unfortunately, this protein-packed, New York-made food has met a serious roadblock in the Russian government, thanks to an unreasonable customs certificate, and they will not allow the yogurt into the country,” he said.

“We are a lawful country,” Yevgeniy Khorishko, a spokesman for the Russian Embassy in Washington, told The New York Times. “You should follow the rules.”

Indeed, the yogurt war appears to be an attempt by the Russian government to make as plain as a cup of nonfat yogurt the downsides of the US government’s resistance to expanding its trade relationship with Russia, analysts say.

Moreover, the tussle could in part reflect America’s misjudgment of just how stringent Russian officials are about rules: “There seems to be an element of, ‘Who do you think you are that you think you can just send yogurt into our country?” Partlett says.

Over the past few days, Twitter has become flush with reporters’ photos from their subpar hotel rooms in Sochi, most of them trending under the hashtag #SochiProblems: A Chicago Tribune reporter posted one of yellow-brown water running from her faucet; a CNN reporter pictured a shabby room with a downed curtain rod; and reporters from Yahoo Sports mused about their hotel rooms’ absent doorknobs and working toilets.

I have to side with the Russians on refusing a shipment of food from the USA, since it’s difficult to know where any of USA’s food comes from anymore. Honey from Ukraine, nuts from Africa when Muslims are taking over the country, Obama Beer brewed at the White House.

It may have something to do with Obama trying to get all the other world leaders to boycott the Olympics and send gays in their places.

Obama administration remained quiet in light of tape recorded evidence that Egypt’s Morsi was waging terrorists jihad with al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood, and providing Training Camps for al-Qaeda in Libya near Benghazi

Christian Post: The Muslim Brotherhood, Al-Qaeda Connection

    By Raymond Ibrahim – Feb 6, 2014

As former Egyptian President Muhammad Morsi’s trials continue, it’s enlightening to consider what is likely to be one of the centerpieces of the trial: longstanding accusations that Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood party worked with foreign terrorist organizations, including al-Qaeda, against the national security of Egypt.

Concerning some of the more severe allegations, one of Egypt’s most widely distributed and read newspapers, Al Watan, recently published what it said were recorded conversations between Morsi and Muhammad Zawahiri, al-Qaeda leader Ayman Zawahiri’s brother.

In these reports, Watan repeatedly asserts that Egyptian security and intelligence agencies confirmed (or perhaps leaked out) the recordings.

Much of the substance of the alleged conversations is further corroborated by events that occurred during Morsi’s one-year-rule, most of which were reported by a variety of Arabic media outlets, though not by Western media.

The first recorded call between Muhammad Morsi and Muhammad Zawahiri lasted for 59 seconds. Morsi congratulated Zawahiri on his release from prison,…

The presidential palace continued to communicate regularly with Muhammad Zawahiri, and sources confirm that he was the link between the Egyptian presidency and his brother, Ayman Zawahiri, the Egyptian-born leader of al-Qaeda.

Then Zawahiri told Morsi: “Rule according to the Sharia of Allah [or “Islamic law”], and we will stand next to you. Know that, from the start, there is no so-called democracy, so get rid of your opposition.”

An entire section dedicated to showing that Islamic Sharia cannot coexist with democracy even appears in Ayman Zawahiri’s book (see “Sharia and Democracy,” The Al Qaeda Reader, pgs. 116-136).

The call ended in agreement that al-Qaeda would support the Brotherhood, including its international branches, under the understanding that Morsi would soon implement full Sharia in Egypt…

As I reported back in December 2012, Egyptian media were saying that foreign jihadi fighters were appearing in large numbers-one said 3,000 fighters-especially in Sinai.

And, since the overthrow of the Brotherhood and the military crackdown on its supporters, many of those detained have been exposed speaking non-Egyptian Dialects of Arabic.

After that call, and as confirmed by a governmental source, Morsi received a list from Zawahiri containing the names of the most dangerous terrorists in Egyptian jails,…

In fact, as I reported back in August 2012, many imprisoned terrorists, including from Egypt’s notorious Islamic Jihad organization-which was once led by Ayman Zawahiri-were released under Morsi.

During this same call, and in the context of pardons, Morsi said he would do his best to facilitate the return of Muhammad’s infamous brother and al-Qaeda leader, Ayman Zawahiri, back to Egypt-“with his head held high,” in accordance with Islamist wishes-as well as urge the U.S. to release the “Blind Sheikh” and terrorist mastermind, Omar Abdul Rahman.

The gist of the next two calls between Morsi and Muhammad Zawahiri was that, so long as the former is president, he would see to it that all released jihadis and al-Qaeda operatives are allowed to move freely throughout Egypt and the Sinai,…

… Morsi added that, in return for al-Qaeda’s and its affiliates’ support, not only would he allow them to have such training camps, but he would facilitate their development in Sinai and give them four facilities to use along the Egyptian-Libyan border.

That Libya is mentioned is interesting.

According to a Libyan Arabic report I translated back in June 2013, those who attacked the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, killing Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, were from jihadi cells that had been formed in Libya through Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood support.

Those interrogated named Morsi and other top Brotherhood leadership as accomplices.

More evidence-including some that implicates the U.S. administration-has mounted since then.

That Morsi did indeed as he promised, and that he facilitated the establishment of four jihadi training camps.

That, after Morsi reached Pakistan, he had a one-and-a-half hour meeting with an associate of Ayman Zawahiri in a hotel and possibly spoke with him.

That, after Morsi returned to Egypt from his trip to Pakistan, he issued another list containing the names of 20 more convicted terrorists considered dangerous to the national security of Egypt, giving them all presidential pardons-…

Zawahiri also added that “All those who reject the Sharia must be executed, and all those belonging to the secular media which work to disseminate debauchery and help deviants and Christians to violate the Sharia, must be executed.”

Morsi reportedly replied: “We have taken deterrent measures to combat those few, and new legislative measures to limit their media, and in the near future, we will shut down these media stations and launch large Islamic media outlets”…

….”We are even planning a big budget from the [Brotherhood] International Group to launch Islamic and jihadi satellite stations to urge on the jihad. There will be a channel for you and the men of al-Qaeda, and it can be broadcast from Afghanistan.”

Undeterred, Zawahiri responded by saying, “This [is a] Christian media-and some of the media personnel are paid by the [Coptic] Church and they work with those who oppose the Sharia… secularist forces are allied with Christian forces, among them Naguib Sawiris, the Christian-Jew.”

Zawahiri reportedly responded by saying “We will fight the military and the police, and we will set the Sinai aflame.”

…The report added that, right before the deposing of Morsi, Zawahiri had been arrested and was being interrogated-only to be ordered released by yet another presidential order, and that he had since fled to the Sinai.

As Morsi’s trial continues, it’s only a matter of time before the truth of these allegations-and their implications for the U.S.-is known. But one thing is certain: most of them comport incredibly well with incidents and events that took place under Morsi’s government.

“As Morsi’s trial continues, it’s only a matter of time before the truth of these allegations-and their implications for the U.S.-is known. But one thing is certain: most of them comport incredibly well with incidents and events that took place under Morsi’s government.”

“More evidence-including some that implicates the U.S. administration-has mounted since then.”

Morsi may face the death penalty? Since when has the US ever put a terrorist to death, and so much for quick justice for Ft. Hood prisoners when Hamas is admitting he worked for al-Qaeda and wants the death penalty.

And Obama had to be convinced to get OBL according to Hillary sources and the Secretary of Defense.
