(CHICAGO) Senator Dick Durbin is talking a lot about how he disagrees with both Supreme Court decisions, but he doesn’t want to talk about his challenger’s main demand.

Durbin’s answer to the Hobby Lobby decision is for Congress to pass a new law. But, how would it be constitutional?

“Well, there are options of going outside the insurance at that company to find other ways,” Durbin said. “We’re exploring those right now.”

And he had this to say on the Supreme Court ruling that home care workers can opt out of paying dues to public sector unions. “What we find here is that many people who are working in unionized facilities enjoy all the benefits of working there, but don’t want to pay the dues. You know, that’s really like asking for your cake and not being willing to pay for it.”

Durbin was less willing to talk about his Republican challenger Jim Oberweis’ demand that he take a position on a special prosecutor to investigate the IRS scandal.

“At this point, there are so many investigations underway,” Durbin said. “I have not jumped into this because the Republicans in the House issue a new investigation every day. If I’m gonna be asked to respond to the daily investigations dreamed up by House Republicans, we won’t talk about anything important like creating good paying jobs right here in Illinois.”

Watch and listen to Hillary in tribal mode.

Hillary Clinton refers to RFK’s Assassination when Defending Decision to Stay in the Race

MSNBC: Breaking News Hardball with Chris Matthews

Hillary Clinton invokes the assassination of Robert Kennedy as justification to remain in the presidential race. “My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. ah uh ya know uh I don’t understand it.”
