VA top Shinseki Resigns in spite of DAV publically defending him.

I knew something was fishy with the DAV silence on now 6 VA hospitals to include one in Illinoise have come out they are violating waiting lists.

The DAV seemed biased for Obama to win 2008, but before the 2012 election they blasted him as to the greatest back log ever. Mitt Romney told the DAV that he would strive for disabled veterans to be able to get civilian medical care because of the back log.

At least I’ve only seen in the news Shineski looking sad, unlike those over Benghazi and Obama Care grinning and showing no remorse.

The DAV’s lack of reporting the facts will lead Obama to choose a replacement far worse than Shinseki.

My guess is Obama will replace Shinseki with a Muslim.

I hadn’t heard of him resigning, but we’ve been having some trouble w/ cable and computer and phone.
The thing I read or heard weeks ago re VA employees conspiring to pretend vets had not made appointments and to literally destroy their entire medical records…well that certainly calls for abig investigation. I have worked as an RN, and the veryidea of destroying patient records is INSANE. It is not something most medical people would ever even consider doing. I heard something yesterday about Holder saying he wouldn’t investigate?

VA top Shinseki did not resign. He accepted the resignation of VA’s Dr. Robert Petzel

      My mistake. So sorry.

Obama uses Executive Order to Change Al-Qaeda into Different Names in Number Game to Reduce Al-Qaeda’s Increasing Members

UPI: U.S. amends al-Qaida in Iraq’s terror designation

    By JC Finley – May 14, 2014

    WASHINGTON, May 14 (UPI) —

ISIL, the State Department noted, is now recognized by the following aliases: the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), ad-Dawla al-Islamiyya fi al-‘Iraq wa-sh-Sham, Daesh, Dawla al Islamiya, and Al-Furqan Establishment for Media Production.

In addition to AQI’s name change, the State Department announced it was removing “all aliases associated with al-Nusrah Front,” given “an increase in violence between these two groups,” and announced it has now designated ANF “as a standalone” foreign terrorist organization.

Foreign terrorist designations are authorized under Executive Order 13224 to target terrorists and supporters of terrorists or acts of terrorism.

CNN: Al Qaeda Tries, Fails to Kidnap 2 U.S. Embassy Staff in Yemen

By Michael Martinez, Mohammed Jamjoom and Hakim Almasmari May 11 2014

(CNN) — Two al Qaeda gunmen tried to kidnap two U.S. Embassy employees in Yemen last month but were shot and killed by one of the Americans, a Yemeni government official told CNN on Saturday.

The attempted kidnapping was carried out by two armed men with al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) on April 24,

and the fatal shooting occurred near a Yemeni barbershop “where many foreigners and diplomats go to get their hair cut,” the Yemeni official said.

The two U.S. Embassy personnel, however, were apparently wayward and shouldn’t have been at the barbershop, the official said.

The American who shot the kidnappers had a gun permit and was authorized to carry a gun.

Marie Harf, deputy spokeswoman for the U.S. State Department, said in a statement: “We can confirm that, last month, two U.S. Embassy officers in Yemen fired their weapons after being confronted by armed individuals in an attempted kidnapping at a small commercial business in Sa’ana…..”

Two Yemeni national security officials told CNN the plot against the Embassy is bigger than initially believed.

The revelation of the incident comes after the U.S. Embassy in Yemen was indefinitely shuttered Wednesday amid security concerns and as fighting between security forces and AQAP intensifies, including in the capital, Sanaa.

Just days before the alleged abduction attempt, a joint U.S.-Yemeni operation was being carried out against AQAP in the Abyan and Shabwa regions of Yemen, but authorities did not disclose whether drones were used in the strikes.

The use of the unmanned drones has stirred controversy due to the accidental killings of civilians in some cases, a high-level Yemeni official said at the time.

On Saturday, a top Yemen Interior Ministry official said the U.S. government had been considering closing the embassy two weeks ago, as attacks on foreigners intensified.

The violence at the barbershop — as well as violence against other foreigners in the past six weeks — eventually convinced the Americans to close down the U.S. Embassy this past week, the official said.

Of all al Qaeda-affiliated networks worldwide, AQAP is considered the most dangerous threat to Americans.

“Of all al Qaeda-affiliated networks worldwide, AQAP is considered the most dangerous threat to Americans.”

Huh? AQAP is Al-Qaeda….in the Arabian Peninsula

The Blaze: Rehab Center for Terrorists in Yemen? Obama May Be One Step Closer to Closing Gitmo
      Oct. 28, 2013 – Sara Carter

President Obama may be one step closer to getting his wish of closing down the controversial GITMO terrorist detention facility in Cuba by shipping them all off to one of the most unstable countries in the world: Yemen.

According to reports out of Yemen, U.S. and European officials have been in talks once again to fund a rehabilitation facility that would house prisoners currently detained at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base detention camp.

“Yemen is planning to construct a facility for the rehabilitation of the Yemeni detainees who the US has agreed to release them from the detention center at Guantanamo Bay,” the Yemen News Agency SABA is reporting.

Unfortunately, Yemen has also been plagued by a growing insurgency of extremists and its government has felt the brute force of Al Qaeda’s Yemen wing over the past four years.

In early August, all non-essential U.S. employees and personnel were evacuated from Yemen when western intelligence agencies revealed that Al Qaeda had threatened dozens of U.S. diplomatic posts worldwide.

The poverty stricken nation has also become a refuge for hundreds of thousands of Somalians, a number of whom are connected to Al Qaeda in Africa, fleeing war in their own country.

“Sending Gitmo detainees to Yemen will ensure that they will be back to terrorizing the west again because there is absolutely no way of securing them in a facility,” said a U.S. Official, who works in the region and spoke on condition of anonymity. “These programs don’t work and they certainly won’t work in a nation as fragile – both economically and politically — as Yemen. There is no way of securing a facility there.”

A Yemeni official, who also spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the subject, said there are 88 Yemeni prisoners being held in Gitmo and admitted that the “situation is difficult.”

The U.S. official said putting the prisoners at a rehabilitation facility “in Yemen even if it doesn’t work would let allow the president dig himself out of a whole and keep his promise to close Gitmo, even if it is a bad idea.”

First lady tells Kansas students to fight bias
    Associated Press

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — First lady Michelle Obama told Kansas high school graduates Friday that young people who’ve grown up with diversity must lead a national fight against prejudice and discrimination because after six decades, the Brown v. Board of Education ruling against school segregation is “still being decided every single day.”
Obama spoke to several thousand students and parents at an event honoring high school graduates in Topeka, the state capital. Her speech came the day before the 60th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1954 decision in the Brown case, which takes its title from a federal lawsuit filed by parents in Topeka.

    Brown v. Board desegregation case.

Brown itself was not a single case, but rather a coordinated group of five lawsuits against school districts in Kansas, South Carolina, Delaware, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. To litigate these cases, Marshall recruited the nation’s best attorneys, including Robert Carter, Jack Greenberg, Constance Baker Motley, Spottswood Robinson, Oliver Hill, Louis Redding, Charles and John Scott, Harold R. Boulware, James Nabrit, and George E.C. Hayes. These LDF lawyers were assisted by a brain trust of legal scholars, including future federal district court judges Louis Pollack and Jack Weinstein, along with William Coleman, the first black person to serve as a Supreme Court law clerk. In addition, LDF relied upon research by historians, such as John Hope Franklin, and an array of social science arguments. This research included psychologist Kenneth Clark’s now famous doll experiments, which demonstrated the impact of segregation on black children – Clark found black children were led to believe that black dolls were inferior to white dolls and, by extension, that they were inferior to their white peers.
In the Brown decision, Chief Justice Earl Warren specifically cited Kenneth Clark’s summary of all the social science testimony—on topics including the doll test —presented at trial. In the portion of the opinion on the effect of segregation on black children, Warren wrote, “To separate from others of similar age and qualifications solely because of their race generates a feeling of inferiority as to their status in the community that may affect their hearts and minds in a way unlikely to ever be undone.”

and this is precisely the intention of the First Lady’s Re Education speech to these high school young people.
“affect their hearts and minds in a way unlikely to ever be undone.”
    “to separate!”
    Never Forget!
it is to always be Us and Them!
and for generations to come when you do your part!

Traditional Nigerian hunters want to find girls
    Associated Press

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (AP) — Traditional hunters armed with homemade guns, poisoned spears and amulets have gathered in their hundreds, eager to use their skills and what they believe to be supernatural powers to help find nearly 300 schoolgirls abducted by Islamic extremists.

Some 500 hunters, some as young as 18 and some in their 80s, say they have been specially selected by their peers for their spiritual hunting skills and have been waiting for two weeks in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital and the birthplace of Boko Haram, to get backing from the military and get moving.

With Nigeria’s military accused by many citizens of not doing enough to rescue the girls, the hunters demonstrated their skills to an Associated Press reporter on Sunday. With cow horn trumpets echoing eerie war cries from the screaming and chanting men who twirled knives and swords with dexterity, occasionally stabbing and cutting themselves with no apparent harm. The hunters claimed their magic charms prevented any blood being drawn. They also trust amulets of herbs and other substances wrapped in leather pouches as well as cowrie shells, animal teeth and leather bracelets to protect them from bullets.

while the Media will play this as group as superstitious barbaric vigilantes, (which of course they are.)

i on the other hand will be searching the Internet for a

    “Maiduguri Kicks A..” jersey.

why does this stir some primeval memory in a “civilized ” twenty first century man?

maybe fantasy writer Robert E. Howard 1906 – 1936 ,may have been on to something .

“Barbarism is the natural state of mankind. Civilization is unnatural. It is a whim of circumstance. And barbarism must always ultimately triumph.”

“Barbarism has its vices, its sophistries, no less than civilization. Your cynicisms and sophistications are weak and childish beside the elemental cynicism, the vital sophistication of what you call savagery.”

    just saying.

Battle over Obama Presidential Library heating up
    May 20, 2014
By Darlene Hill, FOX 32 News

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) – The battle over plans to bring the Barack Obama Presidential Library to Chicago is heating up in a big way. Supporters claim the library will bring new jobs and energy to the city. But others say it could be a waste of tax dollars and time.

Officials with the University of Chicago say the $220 million library could be an economic boom for the city and the Hyde Park community. They say the project would bring more than 2,000 permanent jobs to the city.

According to research done by the university, the library would potentially bring more than 800,000 visitors to Chicago.

But protestors say it would be a bad idea to bring the library to an area where there are “more bullets than books.” The group in opposition of bringing the library to Chicago has been protesting near 57th and Maryland all week. They say they would rather see a trauma center built in the area.

“People are getting shot on 51st, over by the high school, then shot on 46th and Drexel. I’m just saying, if they want to have the Obama library, they need to meet with the community needs first,” one protestor said.

Chicago is one of three cities vying for the chance to be the home of the Obama Presidential Library. The other cities being considered are New York and Honolulu.

Anti-Obama author D’Souza pleads guilty to campaign finance violation

    By Joseph Ax

Conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza pleaded guilty on Tuesday to a campaign finance law violation, avoiding a trial that had been expected to begin the same day in a Manhattan federal court.

D’Souza, known for his biting criticism of President Barack Obama, pleaded guilty to one criminal count of making illegal contributions in the names of others. A second count concerning the making of false statements is expected to be dismissed once he is sentenced.

The plea came four months after Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara charged D’Souza with using “straw donors” to give funds in 2012 to Republican Wendy Long’s U.S. Senate campaign in New York. Long, who met D’Souza while they were students in the 1980s, lost to Democratic incumbent Kirsten Gillibrand.

“I knew that causing a campaign contribution to be made in the name of another was wrong and something the law forbids,” D’Souza, 53, told U.S. District Judge Berman on Tuesday. “I deeply regret my conduct.”

Prosecutors said D’Souza asked two friends and their spouses to contribute $10,000 each to Long’s campaign and then reimbursed them. At the time, campaign finance regulations limited individual donations to a maximum of $5,000 during an election cycle. …

Selective prosecution or not, D’Souza should have known better and will have what looks to be ten to eighteen months in prison to reflect on it.

Reuters: N.Y. Times Publisher Tried for ‘Amicable’ Split with Editor

(Reuters) – New York Times Co Chairman and Publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr. said he tried to part ways peacefully with the top leader of the newsroom, Jill Abramson, whom he ousted last week.

“We originally drafted the whole thing to be very amicable,” Sulzberger said in an interview with Vanity Fair, his first since he changed the leadership of his paper. “Jill said no.”

“It was my hope for Jill that we could make this go away as peacefully as possible.” (http://www.vanityfair.com/online/daily/2014/05/arthur-sulzberger-interview-jill-abramson-firing)

On Saturday, Sulzberger issued a staff memo saying he terminated Abramson for her “arbitrary decision-making, a failure to consult and bring colleagues with her, inadequate communication and the public mistreatment of colleagues.”

At an awards ceremony on Monday night in New York, hosted by the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, Sulzberger thanked Abramson for being one of the most “forceful voices” in challenging a secretive White House.

“Some of you, and now I’m talking to anybody who has been dumped … You know the sting of losing and not getting something you badly want. When that happens, show them what you are made of,” she said.

The Washington Times: He KNEW! Obama told of Veterans Affairs health care debacle as far back as 2008

    May 18 2014

Veterans Affairs officials warned the Obama-Biden transition team in the weeks after the 2008 presidential election that the department shouldn’t trust the wait times that its facilities were reporting.

The briefing materials, obtained by The Washington Times through the Freedom of Information Act, make clear that the problems existed well before Mr. Obama took office, dating back at least to the Bush administration.

But the materials raise questions about what actions the department took since 2009 to remedy the problems.

In recent months, reports have surfaced about secret wait lists at facilities across the country and, in the case of a Phoenix VA facility, accusations that officials cooked the books to try to hide long wait times. Some families said veterans died while on a secret wait list at the Phoenix facility.

In particular, the 2008 transition report referred to a VA inspector general recommendation to test the accuracy of reported waiting times.

Such tests, the report noted, could prompt action if results reveal “questionable differences” between the dates shown in medical records and dates in the Veterans Health Administration’s scheduling system.

It’s unclear whether that recommendation was adopted because VA officials have not responded to request for comment.

Problems with electronic waiting lists also merited mention in the presidential briefing report.

Briefing reports typically are prepared by career federal employees before a change in power, giving incoming administrations detailed looks at agency operations.

Jim Nicholson, who served as VA secretary during the latter half of the Bush administration, could not be reached for comment.
The briefing materials do not reveal any concerns about outright fraud in manipulating waiting times, but they make repeated references in summarizing past audits and reviews about data accuracy.

“This report and prior reports indicate that the problems and causes associated with scheduling, waiting times and wait lists are systemic throughout the VHA,” officials told the incoming administration.

The American Legion has called on Mr. Shinseki and Allison Hickey, VA undersecretary for benefits, to resign.
“They are both part of VA’s leadership problem,” American Legion Commander Daniel Dellinger said in a statement Friday. “This isn’t personal. VA needs a fundamental shift in leadership if it is to defeat its systematic lack of accountability.”

Conservative Angle: President to Declare Vast New Monument Along Mexico Border

    May 20 2014

President Obama on Wednesday will declare a national monument in southern New Mexico, delivering a win for environmentalists but angering ranchers and local law enforcement, who say

the land restrictions will end up creating a safe haven for drug cartels to operate within the U.S.

Mr. Obama will declare about 500,000 acres as the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument. About half of that land is expected to be set aside as wilderness, meaning it will be closed to vehicles and construction.

Local ranchers say it’s a land grab that will interfere with their grazing rights, and border security advocates said the move will make it tougher for federal agents and local police to patrol the land, leaving a security gap that Mexican smuggling cartels will exploit.

The monument has been in the works for some time and has been controversial from the start.

Desert MonumentConservationists and tourism businesses have been pushing for the designation, hoping it will bring more visitors.

“The Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument will help protect our way of life while allowing for responsible development and

expanding opportunities for all Americans to enjoy the beauty and multi-cultural history of this unique landscape,”

Billy Garrett, Dona Ana County Commission chairman, said in a statement.

The BLM, which is part of the Interior Department, will administer the national monument.

The monument would cover hundreds of thousands of acres right next to the Mexican border.

“An Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument will preserve important cultural links to our past and strengthen southern New Mexico’s economy by boosting tourism and recreational opportunities, like hunting, hiking, camping, and horseback riding,” Sen. Martin Heinrich said in a statement.

The New Mexico monument is Mr. Obama’s second designation this year.

Sheriff Garrison said that will shut down roads that his department uses to patrol the land, though he said the cartels are unlikely to stop using it just because it is declared wilderness.

“My fear is these areas will be used more than they are now because they’ll have access to it that will be private and closed off to every law-abiding citizen,” the sheriff said.

Environmentalists and some immigrant rights advocates argue that the Border Patrol has used the arrangement to trample pristine land. Border security advocates say agents’ hands are tied when they are in pursuit of illegal immigrants and drug smugglers.

Mr. Bishop pointed to a case that was in the headlines last week, in which a National Park Service employee at Chiricahua National Monument in Arizona detailed the vicious attack she suffered at the hands of an illegal immigrant.

EPA Wants Couple’s Very Own Private Pond for Cattle and Fining them

FoxNews: EPA Targets Couple’s Private Pond in Wyoming, Threatens Huge Fines

By Kelly David BurkePublished May 19, 2014

When Andy and Katie Johnson built a pond on their property in 2011 to provide water for their cattle, they never dreamed it would result in threats of $75,000 a day in fines from the Environmental Protection Agency.

The Wyoming State Engineer’s Office provided the permit and even stated in an April 4, 2013 letter to the Johnsons: “All of the legal requirements of the State Engineer’s Office, that were your responsibility, have been satisfied for the Johnson Stock Reservoir.”

The EPA saw it differently — and sent the Johnsons a Jan. 30 notice informing them they had violated the Clean Water Act, which could carry thousands of dollars in fines.

In their notice, the EPA cited the couple for “the discharge of pollutants (i.e., dredged or fill material) into the waters of the United States,” for building a dam and for not getting a permit from the Army Corps of Engineers.

Andy Johnson denies the project caused any pollution. “It’s all an assumption. There’s been no soil samples done, there’s been no water samples done.”

The Johnsons have since had their own testing done which they say shows that the water leaving the pond is cleaner than the water entering it. They also say that, far from damaging the environment, the pond has improved it.

“Before we didn’t have ducks and geese. …

Now you can see bald eagles here,

we have moose come down. We have blue herons that come in every evening. Before we did this … it was basically just a little irrigation canal.”

“There is no connection to the river,” Andy Johnson maintains.

The Johnsons were given 10 days to reply in writing that they would dismantle the pond and return the creek to its pre-pond state.

The Johnsons vow to fight, and have told the agency they don’t plan to comply.

“The Clean Water Act that was passed (in 1972) was 88 pages long,”

Pendley points out. “The EPA has just issued several hundred pages to re-define what ‘waters of the United States’ mean and it has incredible impact.”

In a follow-up letter to the EPA, Vitter and his colleagues have asked for, but so far not received, clarification of the potential fines involved. They say their reading of the EPA’s Administrative Order leads them to believe the Johnsons could potentially be subject to as much as $187,500 a day in fines.

“In one month’s time a landowner could be liable for more than $5.5 million in penalties.

EPA could easily use the proposed rule to bankrupt small landowners for something as simple as building a pond or ditch anywhere near a wetland or stream,” the letter said.

Add Vocabularity “…pollutants (i.e., DREDGED or FILL MATERIAL) into the waters.”

Anything, ducks, fish, smelt, turtles etc. could be considered “Fill Material”

“EPA could easily use the proposed rule to bankrupt small landowners for something as simple as building a pond or DITCH anywhere near a WETLAND (as small as puddle or an inch of water) or stream” the letter said.

Reuters: Nigeria asks U.N. al Qaeda committee to blacklist Boko Haram

By Michelle Nichols and Louis Charbonneau May 20, 2014 3:27 PM

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) – Nigeria has formally asked the U.N. Security Council al Qaeda sanctions committee to blacklist the Islamist militant group Boko Haram after the kidnapping of hundreds of schoolgirls, according to a confidential document obtained by Reuters.

If there is no objection by the 15-member council committee, which operates by consensus, Boko Haram will be sanctioned as of 3:00 p.m. EDT on Thursday.

“Difficult to object to such a request by the concerned country,” said one of council diplomat.

The draft U.N. listing entry describes Boko Haram as an affiliate Of al Qaeda and the Organization of al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM).

“Boko Haram has maintained a relationship with the Organization of al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb for training and material support purposes,” according to the draft narrative summary accompanying the proposed listing.

“For example, Boko Haram gained valuable knowledge on the construction of improvised explosive devices from AQIM.

A number of Boko Haram members fought alongside al Qaeda affiliated groups in Mali 2012 and 2013 before returning to Nigeria with terrorist expertise,” it said.

Diplomats did not expect any objections to the blacklisting of Boko Haram, but said the expedited three-day time frame for approval by governments could be too tight for some members.

While Russia was not expected to object, diplomats warned that Moscow could ask for more time to review the request.

U.S. State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Tuesday

while Washington does not regard Boko Haram as being part of core al Qaeda, “we have long had … indications of some limited assistance to Boko Haram from al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb including funds and training.”

Nigeria’s U.N. request also references a bomb attack on the United Nations’ Nigeria headquarters on August 26, 2011 that killed 24 people and a Christmas Day 2011 bombing of a church in Madalla, on the outskirts of Abuja, that killed 37 people.

“Since summer 2012, Boko Haram has undertaken a campaign of violence against Nigerian schools and students,”…
