Iran angrily accuses Ahmadinejad hugging Hugo Chavez’s mother of “haram” (a forbidden act)

DailyMail: Ahmadinejad under attack for ‘sinful’ hug with Hugo Chavez’s mother: Muslim clerics accuse Iran’s president of breaking Islamic law that forbids touching women

By Steve Robson Mar 12 2013

A photo of Iranian President Ahmadinejad hugging Hugo Chavez’s mother at the late Venezuelan leader’s funeral has sparked controversy among conservative Muslim clerics.

The image shows Ahmadinejad and Elena Frias de Chavez touching cheeks during a moment of shared grief.

They claim the act insulted Iran’s religious dignity and amounted to ‘haram’ – a term used to describe a religiously forbidden act under Islamic rules.

President Ahmadinejad has already come under fire from conservatives loyal to Ayatollah Khamenei, Iran’s supreme religious leader, for posting a blog last week in tribute to Hugo Chavez which predicted he would return with Jesus Christ ‘on resurrection day’.

Forbes: U.S. Prepares Counterstrike Against Cyber-Attack

By Derek Klobucher Derek Mar 15 2013

“Cyber-attacks and cyber-espionage pose a greater potential danger to U.S. national security than al Qaeda,” Los Angeles Times stated Tuesday. “For the first time, the growing risk of computer-launched foreign assaults on U.S. infrastructure, including the power grid, transportation hubs and financial networks, was ranked higher in the U.S. intelligence community”s annual review of worldwide threats than worries about terrorism.”

NSA and U.S. Cyber Command chief Gen. Keith Alexander told the Senate’s Committee on Armed Services about more than 140 digital assaults on Wall Street in six months (experts suspect Iran).

And hackers accessed private user information from the three largest credit-reporting agencies in the U.S., Bloomberg News reported Tuesday. Credit reports of Michelle Obama, Ashton Kutcher and Hulk Hogan — even FBI director Robert Mueller — wound up online.

New Yorkers pay for new limbs for Muslim Terrorist on Trial

Reuters: Man awaiting terrorism trial in New York gets prosthetics

NEW YORK – The jail holding Abu Hamza Masri, the handless Islamic cleric awaiting trial on US terrorism charges, provided him with a new set of prosthetics on Friday, officials said at a hearing on Friday.

His attorneys had been asking for the new limbs for months, after authorities refused to allow him to wear his usual metal hooks outside of his jail cell.

Britain extradited Masri last October. The United States accuses him of providing material support to the al Qaeda network by trying to set up a training camp in Oregon, among other charges.

Masri is being held in the Metropolitan Correctional Center next door to the courthouse in lower Manhattan. The Egyptian-born, white-haired preacher appeared in court on Friday without any prosthetics.

    Army, Marines Suspend Tuition Assistance

Citing budgetary constraints that stem from the recent and steep cuts under sequestration, both the Army and Marine Corps are canceling their tuition-assistance programs. Soldiers now taking classes using tuition assistance will not be affected. However, the service is accepting no new tuition-assistance requests. If and when the economic climate improves, the Army may resume tuition assistance.

The Marine Corps canceled tuition assistance outright once sequestration took effect in early March.

The two services regard tuition assistance, which allows service members to take college courses while on active duty, as expendable for the sake of maintaining forward operations.

The Navy and Air Force are considering similar actions.
meanwhile, update on Red Tape keeping Veterans from starting businesses is being looked at.

    Business-Help Red Tape Cut

Veterans who make slight mistakes on their applications for small-business help now can correct them before the Department of Veterans Affairs rejects them. Beginning May 1, the VA will provide preliminary findings to applicants for the agency’s “Veterans First” contracts, which ascertain veteran ownership of businesses. When the findings determine mistakes are made, applicants have 48 hours to correct them.

The Air Force has selected roughly 700 captains, majors, and lieutenant colonels for promotion.

    Wanted: Healthy Recipes

The Navy is encouraging sailors to enter its 1st Annual Healthy Recipe Contest. The winners’ entries will be included in an upcoming cookbook, aimed at providing inexpensive, easy, and healthy recipes that can be prepared in bachelor quarters. Categories include breakfast, sandwich/wrap, vegetable, snack, main course, and sweet treat. Full criteria are available online at http://www.public.navy.mil/bupers-npc/Pages/default.aspx, but entrants should focus on including fruits, vegetables, low-fat/low-calorie dairy and meat, and whole grains. Entries are due March 31.

Hagel: Training, Flight Hours, Steaming Days To Be Curtailed Published: March 8, 2013

The failure of Congress and the White House to agree on budget reductions will require the Army and Marine Corps to reduce time spent on training, curtail Air Force flying hours, and reduce the number of steaming days for Navy vessels, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said March 1.

What a disgrace to the US Marines who are doing most of the dying and getting blown up
to lose education that might aid them when they are missing body parts.

The US Marines are elite trained for the most dangerous battles, never meant to be treated in such an expendable manner training Taliban police who kill them and serving tea and growing gardens.

Shame on the high ranking officers who do not face the danger or fight the battles getting expensive promotions and more benefits.

Jerusalem Post: Palestinians in Bethlehem set fire to pictures of US President Barack Obama on Monday, saying he was not welcome in their city.

By Khaled Abu Toameh – 03/18/2013

Scores of protesters gathered near Manger Square and threw shoes at a US diplomatic vehicle as it arrived at the scene as part of preparations for Obama’s visit to the city later this week.

Palestinian Authority policemen did not intervene to stop the Bethlehem demonstrators from burning the pictures of Obama.

A PA security officer said that the PA would not act against those who seek permission to protest against Obama’s visit.

There were even indications that the PA leadership was encouraging or initiating some of the protests.

“We came here today to tell Obama that we don’t want 3G in Palestine,” said Samir Odeh, a Fatah activist in Bethlehem. “

Meanwhile, US helicopters landed at the PA presidential compound in Ramallah on Monday as part of preparations for Obama’s visit.

As one of the helicopters hovered over the compound, a woman standing near the area shouted, “Allahu Akbar! Obama is not welcome in Palestine. He is an Israeli agent.”

Earlier, PA officials said that the Americans would be in charge of security arrangements during Obama’s visit to Ramallah and Bethlehem.

Obama turning to executive power to get what he wants

By Anita Kumar | McClatchy Newspapers

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama came into office four years ago skeptical of pushing the power of the White House to the limit, especially if it appeared to be circumventing Congress.

When was he ever skeptical of pushing the power of the white house? When?

Now, as he launches his second term, Obama has grown more comfortable wielding power to try to move his own agenda forward, particularly when a deeply fractured, often-hostile Congress gets in his way.

When has Congress been “hostile”? Because even if there was a whiff of the scent of disagreement with Obama’s policies, the news pukes have a field day and have one of their “montage moments” excoriating republicans for not genuflecting to Obama. So…congress is ALWAYS hostile, as it were and the concept of being “often-hostile” is redundant.

He’s done it with a package of tools, some of which date to George Washington and some invented in the modern era of an increasingly powerful presidency. And he’s done it with a frequency that belies his original campaign criticisms of predecessor George W. Bush, invites criticisms that he’s bypassing the checks and balances of Congress and the courts, and whets the appetite of liberal activists who want him to do even more to advance their goals.

Whoa! So you’re saying he wants to bypass the checks and balances? That he criticized Bush for doing it? But that makes it ok, right? (Because Bush did it?) So the ends justifies the means. And besides, George Washington did it…to create the Thanksgiving holiday and stuff, so it’s perfectly understandable to use it to get more money into the government or to rewrite laws that he doesn’t like and create new ones that he DOES like, etc.

While his decision to send drones to kill U.S. citizens suspected of terrorism has garnered a torrent of criticism, his use of executive orders and other powers at home is deeper and wider.

Wait, they told us that it wasn’t his decision. That it was as yet another unnamed bus speed bump who did it. (I think…no….actually…no one seems to have been fingered with the responsibility for that one because there was a squirrel)

Arguably more than any other president in modern history, he’s using executive actions, primarily orders, to bypass or pressure a Congress where the opposition Republicans can block any proposal.

Wait…a random moment of actual journalism! (Mark your calendar, hold on to your bippy)

But, here’s the justification in 3…2…1…

“It’s gridlocked and dysfunctional. The place is a mess,” said Rena Steinzor, a law professor at the University of Maryland. “I think (executive action) is an inevitable tool given what’s happened.”

Boy, Howdy….and heeeeerrrrrrrre’s Rena Steinzor in all her lovely glory. So fetching (for a dog), such a catch (for a fish). http://www.progressivereform.org/SteinzorRenaBio.cfm

Clearly a political expert on the matters of how to wield power to advance the national socialist agenda. (Just ask any of her former boyfriends, if you can find one.)

The Center for Progressive Reform, a liberal advocacy group composed of law professors, including Steinzor, has pressed Obama to sign seven executive orders on health, safety and the environment during his second term.

Seventy environmental groups wrote a letter urging the president to restrict emissions at existing power plants.

Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., the chairwoman of the Appropriations Committee, sent a letter to the White House asking Obama to ban federal contractors from retaliating against employees who share salary information.

    And heeeeeeerrrrrres Barbara: http://www.mikulski.senate.gov/about/biography.cfm

She drives the national socialist bus on national socialist road to national socialist town. Started her “career” as a social worker, which is kinda like being a community organizer…..or something. Her nickname is “Lefty Leftington from Leftville”

In January, Obama said he continued to believe that legislation was “sturdier and more stable” than executive actions, but that sometimes they were necessary, such as his January directive for the federal government to research gun violence.

“There are certain issues where a judicious use of executive power can move the argument forward or solve problems that are of immediate-enough import that we can’t afford not to do it,” the former constitutional professor told The New Republic magazine.

Again, Obama was never a constitutional professor or constitutional lawyer. He was a teacher’s helper….and never a scholar….as we have never seen his grades. It is doubtful that he is even from planet Earth.

But his statements reveal that he is ready and willing to circumvent the process of how laws in this country get made. And McClatchy is all-too-willing to provide the justification:

Presidents since George Washington have signed executive orders, an oft-overlooked power not explicitly defined in the Constitution. More than half of all executive orders in the nation’s history – nearly 14,000 – have been issued since 1933.

So, therefore, it’s necessary for president amateur to do likewise because…well….the nation just can’t wait!

Many serve symbolic purposes, from lowering flags to creating a new military medal. Some are used to form commissions or give federal employees a day off. Still others are more serious, and contentious: Abraham Lincoln releasing political prisoners, Franklin D. Roosevelt creating internment camps for Japanese-Americans, Dwight Eisenhower desegregating schools.

So….creating internment camps for those pesky republicans shouldn’t be any great sweat for the golfer-in-chief. And since Eisnehower and Nixon BOTH golfed, it’s ok for Blow-bama to do as he damn well pleases to get “those essential things” passed into law. The article completely ignores the fact that the executive orders signed by Lincoln and Eisenhower were done after much exhaustive deliberation…whereas Roosevelt’s order to sequester Japanese-Americans was done in secret behind closed doors and was not reported by the media, under direction of the War Department.

The article goes on at some length to justify the “need” and rationalizations for Obama having dictator authority and welcomes it and basically calls it the way business should be done. However, if evil BushHitler was in office, I doubt their uptake would be as accommodating.

    • Netanyahu’s gift to Obama will be a gold-plated 0.04 millimeter nano-chip stamped with the US and Israeli declarations of independence. The chip will be placed on a Jerusalem stone from the Second Temple period and is meant to signal the strong ties between the two countries, the Jewish people’s ancient link to the Land of Israel, and Israel’s technological contributions.

    • Sarah Netanyahu will present Obama with a silver Seder plate for his wife, to be used at the Seders the Obamas hold each year in the White House; necklaces for his daughters; and a rubber hamburger toy for his dog Bo.

Jerusalem Post: President Obama’s visit to be broadcast in high definition

    By Sam Sokolo 3/18/2013

American President Barack Obama’s trip to Israel later this week will be broadcast worldwide in high definition.

Footage of the visit will be shot by crews manning twenty vans carrying forty high-definition cameras, which will begin recording from the moment that Air Force One touches down on the tarmac…

Hope we get to see the hotel Obama and his entourage of 600 stay in.

(Note: Nearly every report for a month now, has U.S. officials stating this trip is not about peace measures. So, if Jay Carney or John Kerry try to spin it, it’s a lie.

This visit is for damage control as Obama has been those most hostile President towards Israel than ever in history.

Furthermore, Israel is furious at Obama’s announcement last week it would be a year before Iran would have nuclear ability.

Ill. state AFSCME workers approve contract
    Associated Press
    March 19, 2013 8:02 PM
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) Illinois state government workers represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees have voted to approve a three-year contract.
AFSCME (AFSK’-mee) Council 31 officials announced Tuesday evening that its 35,000 members approved the pact reached Feb. 28 after 15 months of negotiating with Gov. Pat Quinn.
Workers won’t get a raise in the first year but have accepted 2 percent salary increases in the last two. Those due incentive “step” increases will get them and ten years’ seniority will bring a $25-a-month longevity increase.
But union members will pay an additional 1 percent of salary for health care premiums and other health costs.
Quinn also agreed to provide a 5.25 percent pay increase due in 2011 that refused to pay at the time.

data released today by the U.S. Department of Labor and the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES). Not seasonally adjusted data .

Not seasonally adjusted data compares the current month to the same month of the previous year. The January 2013 not seasonally adjusted Illinois rate was 10.1 percent and 12.2 percent at its peak in this economic cycle in January 2010. Nationally, the unemployment rate was 8.5 percent in January and 10.6 percent in January 2010 at its peak. The unemployment rate identifies those who are out of work and looking for work and is not tied to collecting unemployment insurance benefits.

Turns out it was just that – a photo op.

The Israeli sites Ynet and Maariv reported that just hours after Obama planted the tree, Agriculture Ministry officials began digging it up.

Obama brought the tree with him on Air Force One, so the tree – like all other imported agricultural products – has to undergo the requisite tests for entry to the country.

President Peres’s office says the uprooting was decided upon ahead of time.

Agriculture officials tell Ynet that the tree will be quarantined in order to determine if there is any plant disease present.

At the tree planting ceremony, Obama said, “… I’m sure this tree is going to do great.”

The officials stressed there’s no diplomatic gaffe here, that officials in President Peres’s office and at the Foreign Ministry were aware of the plans.

Agriculture officials say the examination could take “months.”

Here’s the photo op of the tree planting in which Obama says the tree traveled with him on Air Force One, courtesy of Ynet:

“At the tree planting ceremony, Obama said, “… And we’re very good gardeners.

Amplify, the company owned by Rupert Murdoch, won a $12.5 million contract to develop formative assessments for Common Core tests. The award was made by the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium, one of two groups funded by the Obama administration to create national tests, administered online. Joel Klein runs Murdoch’s Amplify division.
