Media in Tehran claiming that Egyptian president’s speech at Non-Aligned Movement summit distorted by simultaneous translator in bid to fit in with Islamic Republic’s position

YNET: Iran: Persian interpreter tampers with Morsi’s NAM speech

    By Roi Kais

    8.31.12, 10:51 / Israel News

Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi received a warm welcome in Tehran on Thursday but it would seem that his historic speech at the Non-Aligned Movement summit may not have been the same speech heard by the Islamic Republic’s citizens on national television and radio stations.

According to the reports, the simultaneous interpreter adapted Morsi’s speech to fit in with the Iranian regime’s rhetoric – according to which Assad’s regime in Syria should not be criticized.

Iran’s official TV network was creative in their protest against Morsi’s statements on the bloodshed carried out by Assad’s regime by simply refusing to translate his statements on the subject. Syria is Iran’s ally.

The Iranian interpreter translated Morsi’s criticism of Assad’s regime as statement’s in support of Assad: “There is a crisis in Syria and we must support the ruling regime in Syria,” he said, in complete contrast to Morsi’s negative statements.

In an interview with the Al Arabiya.net website Iranian media activist Ameed Maqdam Maqdam said he heard “Bahrain” mentioned three times in the Persian translation.

He added that the Persian interpreter “looked confused which means he was intent on inserting some expressions in Morsi’s speech and deliberately used “Al Sahwa Al Islamiya” (Islamic Awakening) instead of Arab Spring.

Egypt’s first trip to Iran since 1979 makes a statement.

“… and deliberately used “Al Sahwa Al Islamiya” (Islamic Awakening) instead of Arab Spring.

So now we know the reasoning behind the USA President Obama coming up with his world theme the Arab Spring. Obama’s Islamic Awakening in the Arab Spring.

So, beyond any doubt you may have Obama chose the theme “Arab Spring

The New York Post: Tehran slapdown

    Mursi shocks the mullahs

Aug 30, 2012 By Amir Taheri

With his speech yesterday at the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran, Egypt’s new president, Muhammad Mursi, drew a line in the sand against Iran’s hope of creating an “Islamic Awakening Front” under its leadership.

Not such a warm embrace: Egypt’s Mohammed Mursi (l.) with Iran’s Ahmadinejad in Tehran yesterday.
    AFP/Getty Images

In his opening address at the summit, Khamenei spelled out that ideology with a torrent of hate against the American “Great Satan.” For him, Islam’s ultimate goal is “the destruction of America.”

Each year, Khomeinists organize ceremonies to “expose and denounce” the three caliphs, labeling them “The Dirty Trio” (al-Muthallath al-Mulawwatha).

Khomeinist discourse now stresses three other themes:

    * It wants the recent uprisings in the Middle East to be termed not “the Arab Spring” but “the Islamic Awakening” — and somehow, against all logic, linked to Khomeinism in Iran.

    * The second theme is Holocaust denial, coupled with calls for the “elimination of Israel” as a “cancerous cell.”

    * Finally, Tehran demands “unwavering support” for the Syrian despot Bashar al-Assad.

Tehran media had promised that the Egyptian leader would cancel the Camp David peace accords and join the Iranian-led “Resistance Front” to “wipe off the Jewish stain of shame.” Mursi did none of that. Instead, he said his administration is dedicated to peace and stability in the region.

But Mursi in his speech saluted “the Prophet and his successors,” naming the “Dirty Trio” one by one.

Not surprisingly, Tehran television interrupted its live broadcast of Mursi’s address with a gas-company ad.

Mursi made it clear that, post-Mubarak, Egypt intends to reclaim its position as one of Islam’s three key powers (along with Iran and Turkey) by rejecting Khomeini’s equation of Islam with anti-Americanism.

Sharia Law is an Islamic Awakening so anyone trying to say Mursi wanting to be the most powerful middle-east country according to his version of Islam has to understand it’s all about religion.

    And embrace is actually friendly.
It’s just not as friendly as Obama who hugged and patted Iran’s Ahmadmanjihad when they first met.

All I know is the US media feels like Iran and Hugo Chavez are running it.

Navy Seal wrote book after Obama shared information with Movie Producers

U.S. General Vaught should be relieved of duties and fired.

Well, hell then; General Vaught, you and Obama should have captured Osama bin Laden yourselves.

WSJ: Navy SEAL Memoir Exploits Market

By Dion Nissenbaum and Siobhan Gorman

Once revered as “quiet professionals,” a growing number of former SEALs are trading on their mythic status to promote best-selling memoirs, survival guides, a political-advocacy group and even a limited-edition wristwatch.

The explosion of SEAL mania should scale new heights next week with the expected release of “No Easy Day,” the controversial memoir by Matt Bissonnette, a member of the elite SEAL Team Six that killed Osama bin Laden last year in Pakistan.

Since the raid, at least six former SEAL team members have published books about their sometimes tenuous links to the men who killed bin Laden. Mr. Bissonnette was on Seal Team Six, but the other authors weren’t.

None of the books has triggered the kind of backlash created by “No Easy Day.”

On Friday, Mr. Bissonnette’s attorney argued that his client had no legal obligation to seek Pentagon review because the agreements he signed didn’t apply to the bin Laden raid.

“Mr. Owen is proud of his service and respectful of his obligations,” attorney Robert Luskin wrote in a letter to the Pentagon’s top attorney. “But he has earned the right to tell his story.”

The book controversy took on a political tint Friday when a group of former Navy SEALs said the Obama administration is “applying a dishonorable double standard” in its quick condemnation of Mr. Bissonnette.

The SEALs group, the OPSEC Education Fund Inc., an independent political-advocacy group, has accused the administration of leaking security secrets for political gain and providing information to producers of a forthcoming movie on the bin Laden raid.

Scott Taylor, president of the group, countered that OPSEC is targeting the administration’s failure to take action against leaks “at the highest levels of this administration.”

Some blame Adm. McRaven for the woes. He backed use of active-duty SEALs in “Act of Valor,” a Hollywood movie released in February that Pentagon officials defended as an authorized recruitment film.

On Friday, Gen. Vaught criticized Mr. Bissonnette for circumventing the traditional military vetting process and seeking to elevate himself.

“They are trying to appoint themselves as unique heroes, when they’re no damn thing. I had guys that worked for me that make them look like children,” he said.

“I think it’s a stupid act and a very grand disservice to the other members of the SEAL community,” Gen. Vaught said.

Mr. Mann, who also co-authored the recently released SEAL “Survival Handbook,” published his memoir with the Pentagon’s black redactions in the book, to show how and where the military had edited his writing.

Some post-SEAL endeavors involve more than books or movies. Brandon Webb, a former Navy SEAL sniper instructor who wrote a recent memoir, joined forces with another former SEAL to sell a limited-edition wristwatch. Selling price: $2,150.

“I am a freaking entrepreneur capitalist and I have no problem with guys getting out and making money,” said Mr. Webb, author of “The Red Circle” and editor of the Web site SOFREP.com. “It’s something to be proud of.”

” ‘On Friday, Gen. Vaught criticized Mr. Bissonnette….

“They are trying to appoint themselves as unique heroes, when they’re no damn thing. I had guys that worked for me that make them look like children,” he said.’ ”

If General Vaught tells the “media” who tells the “world” the SEALS 6 were no damn heroes and children could have performed the capture of Osama bin Laden, than I see no breaches.

I just wish General Vaught and Obama themselves had captured Osama bin Laden and have been no damned hero’s.

Obama capitalized on his older revealing books during his presidency bringing in income.
Obama capitalized and sold his book for his girls. Capitalizing.
Obama spent time as President re-editing his books for different age level, capitalizing.

Look what John Wayne did for the Green Berets and Toro Toro.

And the Pentagon has “capitalized off human life using “Act of Valor” to recruit young teen men from their mothers’ arms.

The WSJ and all media has capitalized off the death of human lives. By exploiting it, or not acknowledging it.
    It’s good for recruiting.

NewsMax: U.S. Ends Criminal Probe of Controversial Arizona Sheriff

    01 Sep 2012 Reuters

The federal government has closed a criminal probe of alleged financial misconduct by Arizona lawman Joe Arpaio, who styles himself as “America’s toughest sheriff,” saying no charges would be filed, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

A separate federal investigation relating to allegations of civil rights abuses by Arpaio’s office is continuing.

A federal criminal inquiry into several of those matters was concluded last summer with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Arizona declining to initiate criminal charges.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Ann Birmingham Scheel said in a statement that her office “is closing its investigation into allegations of criminal conduct by current and former members of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.”

Arpaio, 80, who is seeking re-election in November to a sixth term, has been under a separate federal inquiry since 2008 over allegations that he and his deputies engaged in an extensive pattern of civil rights abuses.

Crazy ACLU & American terrorist John Walker Lindh suing U.S.

KERA American Taliban Sues For Religious Freedom

By Barbara Bradley Hagerty Aug 31 2012

John Walker Lindh was captured in Afghanistan in 2002 after fighting with the Taliban.

The U.S. citizen converted to Islam as a teenager. Shortly after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, Lindh was caught in Afghanistan. He pleaded guilty to aiding the now defunct Taliban government there and to carrying a weapon.

Now, Lindh is suing the U.S. government, saying the prison is stifling his religious freedom. He says his faith requires him to pray with fellow Muslims up to five times a day. But the prison will allow only one group prayer a week.

“A congregational prayer elevates the magnitude and the importance of the prayer from a religious sense,” says Ken Falk, the legal director of the ACLU of Indiana, who is representing Lindh. “And by denying him this right, his religious exercise and his religious beliefs are being substantially burdened.”

In hearings before a federal judge in Indianapolis this week, the government argued it would be crazy to allow Muslims convicted of terrorism and other crimes to gather together several times a day.

“The government’s first argument is, ‘Hey, these people are security risks, and if they’re praying, they’re doing it in Arabic, and we don’t know what they’re saying,’ ” says Victoria Toensing, a former federal prosecutor. “They could be plotting something.”

Some legal observers say the government has presented a fairly lukewarm case in that regard. The government did say in court that prisoners had on occasion been disruptive at prayer time and that Lindh himself had delivered a “radical” sermon in February.

But Falk notes that Lindh wasn’t disciplined for his speech. And until three years ago, he says, Muslims prayed together every day without anyone stopping them. Even now, they can roam freely outside their cells from 6 a.m. to 9:15 p.m.

The judge won’t decide the fate of communal prayer for at least two months. But many legal experts say it’s ironic that the American Taliban, whose religion turned him against the United States, is now turning to U.S. law to protect his religious rights.

They can dam well pray 5 times a day without touching their noses to their butts.

AP: Imam: Lindh can pray alone under religious rules

      28 Aug 2012

INDIANAPOLI (AP) — An imam on Tuesday disputed American Taliban fighter John Walker Lindh’s claim that the school of Islam to which he belongs requires him to perform his ritual daily prayers as part of a group, even though he’s in prison.

Ammar Amonette, who leads a mosque in Richmond, Va., and who like Lindh, converted to Islam, testified that the Hanbali school to which they both adhere stresses that Muslims should pray in a congregation, but he said believes can be excused from their religious obligations if important work or some pressing reason prevents them from fulfilling them.

“The congregation is not considered essential by any of the four Islamic schools of jurisprudence,” Amonette testified.

In 2001, Lindh was captured in Afghanistan by U.S. troops and accused of fighting for the Taliban. Raised Catholic, the California native was 12 when he saw the movie “Malcolm X” and became interested in Islam. He converted to Islam at age 16. Walker told Newsweek after his capture that he had entered Afghanistan to help the Taliban build a “pure Islamic state.”

In 2002, Lindh pleaded guilty to supplying services to the now-defunct Taliban government and carrying explosives for them. He had been charged with conspiring to kill Americans and support terrorists, but those charges were dropped in a plea agreement.

I think Lindh is trying to get to Gitmo so he can play video games on his own TV and do sports like soccer.

AP: Twin suicide attack kills 12 in Afghanistan

By Amir Shad 02 Sep 2012

Two suicide attackers, one driving a fuel tanker, blew themselves up near a US base in eastern Afghanistan yesterday, killing at least 12 people, officials said.

The attack around dawn in the town of Sayed Abad in Wardak province, about 70 kilometres from Kabul, served as a reminder that even after a decade of fighting, tens of thousands of US and foreign troops are still engaged in a war that shows no signs of slowing down despite the start of a withdrawal of coalition forces.

The US-led NATO coalition said that no American or coalition troops were killed in the blasts. It confirmed that a number of troops were wounded, but did not say how many, in accordance with coalition policy.

Government officials said the first attacker blew himself up to try to eliminate the Afghan security force guarding the compound and clear the way for the truck to hit the base down the road from the governor’s complex. The second bomber then blew up the fuel tanker as he was approaching the base. One of the town’s main bazaars is also located near the bomb site.

“A small explosion happened followed by a big one caused by a truck,” said eyewitness Hamidullah, who like many Afghans goes by one name.

The governor’s office said in a statement that 59 people were wounded – 2 NATO troops, 47 civilians and ten Afghan police officers.

Last year, the same base in Wardak was the target of another suicide bombing. That blast, which occurred on the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks against the United States, wounded 77 American soldiers and killed five Afghans.

In a separate incident yesterday, NATO said that two US soldiers were killed in eastern Ghazni province. It did not provide any further information or details about the deaths, the first this month. A total of 53 foreign troops were killed in Afghanistan in August.

President Barack Obama has pledged to remove XXXXX US troops by the end of XXXXX, bringing the number of American forces down to XXXXX

There are currently 129,000 troops serving with the coalition, according to US Maj. Gen. Joseph Reynes Jr., director of operations at the Allied Joint Forces Command in Brunssum, the Netherlands. He said earlier this week that the number will drop to XXXXXX by the end of XXXXXXX and dip under XXXXXX by the XXXX of the year.

The troops are to be replaced by Afghan army and police units, but many have questioned the effectiveness of an Afghan force that has high desertion rates and is often poorly disciplined. The Afghan security forces are supposed to reach a high of about 350,000 at the end of the year.

UPI: Bombings kill 13 near U.S.-Afghan base

    Sept. 1, 2012

KABUL, Afghanistan, Sept. 1 (UPI) — At least 13 people were killed and 78 injured in a two coordinated suicide bomb attacks near a joint U.S.-Afghan military base early Saturday, authorities said.

No coalition forces were killed, but two were wounded, CNN reported. Four Afghan police officers, as well as a child and two women, were among the dead, Shahidullah Shahid, a spokesman for the Wardak province governor, said.

An attack on the same base last year on the eve of the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks killed five Afghans and injured more than 80 people, including about 50 U.S. soldiers.

The Hill: Obama campaign to highlight drawdowns in Iraq, Afghanistan

By Jeremy Herb – 09/01/12 03:00 PM ET

Obama’s speech at the El Paso, Tex., Army base was a preview of the Democrats’ plan to highlight the drawdowns in Afghanistan and Iraq next week at the Democratic convention to draw contrasts with the Republican ticket, as the wars received little attention during the Republican convention.

The Obama campaign and the White House went on the attack after Romney didn’t mention Afghanistan or Iraq during his acceptance speech Thursday night.

While foreign policy has played a secondary role behind domestic issues this presidential campaign, the Obama campaign says it will be featured prominently at their convention next week. An Obama campaign official said that Thursday night, when Obama will give his acceptance speech, a national security segment will be featured along with a speech by Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) focused on Obama’s record as commander-in-chief.

At the same time, polls have shown that Romney has an edge over Obama among veteran voters, a constituency both campaigns have actively courted. A May Gallup survey found that Romney a 58-34 lead among veterans.

“I can simply speak for myself that I was surprised not to hear mention of the 70,000 men and women who are serving in Afghanistan, executing a mission that is profoundly important to America’s national security in a conflict that was the direct result of an attack on the United States by al Qaeda,” White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters aboard Air Force One.

“President Obama has failed in his duty as Commander in Chief to win the home front,” Romney spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg said in a statement to The Hill.

“Unlike any wartime president in memory, he has failed to consistently and forthrightly speak about the war in Afghanistan to the American people,” she said. “The Obama campaign’s attack on Gov. Romney today is another attempt to politicize the war in Afghanistan, a war in which President Obama has dangerously based his decisions on political calculations, endangering our mission.”

“When you’re applying for the job of commander in chief, you need to at the very least in your application speech make mention that we are a nation at war, and right now 85,00[sic] men and women are fighting on the other side of the world for our country.”

The Republican convention focused on national security Wednesday night, when some of the biggest foreign policy names in the GOP spoke to the convention, including the 2008 presidential nominee and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

McCain did not mention Iraq in his speech, but did touch on Afghanistan by criticizing Obama’s strategy.

“By committing to withdraw from Afghanistan before peace can be achieved and sustained, the president has discouraged our friends and emboldened our enemies, which is why our commanders did not recommend these decisions and why they have said it puts our mission at much greater risk,” McCain said.

Obama’s personality disorder makes him go far more out of his way to endanger our troops rather than shut his mouth, and to have John Kerry speak is a disgrace to our U.S. Troop, yet alone for Obama to have no idea how many troops we have in Afghanistan,
unless it was to intentionally demoralize U.S. Troops at Ft. Bliss in el-Paso TEXAS.

The media has been bought and paid for. Obama birthday card popping up everywhere?

Obama Honored Fallen SEALs By Sending Their Parents a Form Letter Signed By Electric Pen

FoxNew: Veterans group vows to get to the bottom of ‘autopen-gate’

By Perry Chiaramonte Aug 31 2012

A veterans group is vowing to get a handwriting expert to determine if the letters sent to parents of Navy SEALs killed in Afghanistan were signed by President Obama himself or an electronic autopen[sic] that can replicate his signature.

Karen and Billy Vaughn, whose son Aaron Vaughn was one of 17 SEALs and 13 other Americans killed in a helicopter crash Aug. 6, 2011, raised the issue at a Tea Party rally in Tampa during the Republican National Convention that they had received a form letter. Karen Vaughn said the letter, dated Sept. 23, 2011, was identical with those sent to other families of SEALs who died in the crash. It was later determined the signatures were mechanical.

“We are going to have nationally recognized handwriting experts review the letters given the strong circumstantial evidence which exists in this case.”

But the White House insists every letter sent out to the families of fallen service members is signed by the hand of the Commander-in-Chief.

“The President signs every such letter personally,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Friday.

An autopen[sic auto-pen] is a machine that can be programmed to duplicate an individual’s John Hancock. Seen as more personal than a stamp but less than a hand-signature, the device was first used in the White House by President Harry Truman. President Obama made history when he became the first chief executive to use the device to sign a bill, authorizing its use to extend key provisions of the Patriot Act last year while he was in France.

Aaron Vaughn was part of a team that was sent to a mountainous area in the Wardak Providence in August of last year to assist an Army Ranger unit that was in pursuit of a senior Taliban commander and his unit when their Chinook helicopter was shot down. Nearly 40 people perished, marking it one of the deadliest single incident losses in the decade-long war in Afghanistan.

Arends also complained that the mailings are form letters, with only the names of the recipients changed. The White House conceded that point, but noted sending form letters has long been common practice for presidents, especially when war casualties mount.

In 2003, Newsweek reported that condolence letters from President George W. Bush were also form letters, “With the exception of the salutation and a reference to the fallen soldier in the text.”

However, four years later, the Washington Times ran a story claiming that Bush had sent personal letters to more than 4,000 families of soldiers killed in action and 9/11 victims during his presidency which was largely unnoticed by the public.

Looking at prison as a form of welfare.

82-year-old burglar suspected in 8 new South Bay crimes since prison release

    By Larry Altman Staff Writer

Two years ago, 80-year-old Doris Thompson did something unheard of in a Torrance courtroom: She thanked the judge for sentencing her to three years in prison and asked if she would be serving the entire sentence.

“I feel guilty for asking this,” Thompson asked Judge Thomas Sokolov, “Is this a solid three years or is it just half-time?”

Thompson unabashedly pleaded guilty Feb. 24, 2010, apparently thankful, prosecutors said, to be going back to prison. She had spent most of her life behind bars and was ready to go back for her final years.

“I’m 80 years old,” Thompson told the judge. “I don’t think I’ll ever come back – except I’m going to die and be in the morgue.”

Thompson’s sentence, however, for break-ins at doctors’ offices in Torrance did not prove to be a life sentence. Prison officials released her on parole in November.

And then the crimes started up again.

An established pattern of inability to be employed long-term, going back to 1955, where her rap-sheet begins. (she was 25)

Thompson has a 21-page rap sheet that includes arrests since 1955 that include disturbing the peace, burglary, forgery and grand theft from Los Angeles to the South Bay and Beverly Hills. In 1957, police arrested her in connection with a homicide, but she was deemed insane and committed to a hospital.

No details of how she was released from that.

    And now—-the money shot:

Two years ago, the hearing impaired, 5-foot-3 woman who had worked as a nanny, cook and clerk told police detectives that she “wouldn’t do all this nonsense if the government gave us more money,” a prosecutor said.

57 years, longer than I’ve been alive, stealing, in and out of jail, not getting enough from the gubbmint. How pathetic can this be? In all that time, never learned a trade, garnered a skill, decided to become productive, participate, compete. Nope. Standing there waiting for the welfare money. One thing’s for sure…if you just stand there and wait, the world’s gonna move on regardless. So I guess the easier way to get money was to take her chances and steal it. After all, she’s entitled to more from the gubbmint so she’s just cutting out the middle-man and getting it direct instead of the politicians having to steal it for her.

    • Anonymoose says:

Good grief. Her modus operandi was to go into doctor’s offices and hide until staff went home, then sneak out at night and steal everything. Good plan for a crowded place if you A. don’t get caught on camera taking your hiding place and B. bother to wear a disguise once you sneak out.

But yes, 57 years–it’s just rich people’s money, they can afford it, never thinking that maybe people earned and needed it. It’s like a doctor I knew once went on vacation in Florida and this group of 10-12 year old girls broke out a window and stole his car. Reason? Well they thought they would never be able to get one on their own so might as well take it.

And now over 80 and wanting to go to jail as you can’t earn a living and don’t have retirement—I guess no family or friends there for you either? And they wonder why people like me get frustrated having to toe the line and pay my taxes and keep my job, while this useless parasite is upset she’s not able to steal enough.

  8. canary says:

Now now. Rusty, the article was sure not to give a stereotype type and spell it “gubbmint” which I understand the picture of the old perp, must likely the media did not quote her per se.

I’ve read some pretty good medical treatment that would make you envy prisoners as far as that goes. And I remember police standing by this white guy laughing at his trying to get arrested for a place to sleep for the night so they didn’t arrest him. lol.

At least Doris is keeping her crimes locally governed.

The message appeared to be a response President Obama’s “you didn’t build that” remark from a July campaign rally, when he was trying to explain that government — not businesses — constructed public infrastructure on which the economy relies. Republicans have used the four words to attack Obama as out of touch with the realities of owning and operating a small business.

Ahhhhh noooo! Everyone in the country besides state media seems to understand that Obama was repeating the socialist argument made by Professor Cheekbones: “You didn’t build your business by yourself, because the government paid for roads and bridges and infrastructure that you used free of charge……”

…….which was PAID FOR by tax revenue generated by businesses. If Romney was smart, he would simply reply, “Government didn’t build that! You wouldn’t even have roads and bridges if it weren’t for the businesses you hate so much. Where do you think the money came from? Where do you think the workforce came from? Didn’t you contract out the work to a business, or does the Army Corp of Engineers build everything?”

Leave it to ABC News to re-tell us what we didn’t hear.

AP: Jihadist shift seen in Pakistan _ fewer Arabs

Sep 02 2012 By Kathy Gannon

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) – In the Pakistani tribal regions that harbor al-Qaida and a cauldron of other jihadist groups, militants from Central Asia, China, Turkey and even Germany are growing in number, eclipsing Arabs and possibly raising new challenges not just for the U.S. but for Europe, Russia and China, say intelligence officials, analysts and residents of the area.

While there are no exact numbers, Shah said intelligence sources in the tribal regions put the number of Arab and African jihadists at about 1,500, compared with 3,500 to 4,000 ranging from Chinese Uighurs and Uzbeks to recruits from Turkey, the Russian republics of Chechnya and Dagestan as well as native and immigrant Germans.

Two senior U.S. officials said the drone war was affecting al-Qaida numbers and morale. The deaths of high-profile al-Qaida figures such as Abu Yahya al-Libi, killed in a drone strike in June, have made others skittish, prompting some to leave Pakistan for other battlefields in Syria, Yemen, Iraq or their home countries, the officials said.

They spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss information gleaned from on-the-ground intelligence.

None of the Central Asian groups figuring in the apparent demographic change are new to the tribal regions. Some were welcomed to Afghanistan decades ago during the 1980s Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Others arrived during the Taliban’s rule of Afghanistan that lasted from 1996 to the American-led invasion of 2001. The breakaway Chechen government even had an embassy in Kabul.

The Sept. 11 attacks focused global attention on the Arab militants, but the changing demographics could have implications for Europe as well as Russia and China, analysts say.

Spanish officials allege they were planning an attack in Spain or elsewhere in Europe.

But jihadists from outside the Arab world have been getting more attention.

A report on extremist trends released last month by Germany’s domestic intelligence said the Islamic Jihad Union, headquartered in Pakistan’s tribal area, is “widening its sphere in the sense of global jihad to include Europe.” Once dominated by ethnic Uzbeks, the IJU has sought to recruit German converts who have embraced a radical form of Islam as well as Germans of Turkish origin, say analysts familiar with the organization.

According to the SITE Intelligence Group, which tracks Islamist extremist messages, the IJU is known as the European affiliate to al Qaida. SITE described the IJU’s rise in prominence as a significant development within the global jihadist movement.

“The IJU was also strengthened by their access to German converts,” he said, as well as to disaffected members of China’s Muslim Uighur minority, concentrated in Xinjiang, western China, whose radicalization “the Chinese are very concerned about.”

The threat from the changing jihadist demographics is “more in the future than immediately. The main threat is that the existing nucleus will attract more and as time goes on the threat will increase. It exists now, but at a lower level,” he said in an interview.

Ivan Safranchuk, an associate professor at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, told The AP that the governments of the Central Asian republics also fear instability from neighboring Afghanistan once NATO and U.S. troops leave in 2014

“It’s a reminder to the Russians that the U.S, departure from Afghanistan is going to be a very mixed blessing. That’s why (Russian President Vladimir) Putin has actually been talking up Russia’s stake in American success there. … Putin and Russian intelligence doubtless worry that Central Asia will be destabilized.”

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – President Obama received a less than warm welcome and a warning upon arrival at the airport here on the second stop of his Iowa visit, which was aimed at recapturing some of the magic the state gave his run to the White House in 2008.

Greeting Air Force One as it touched down under sunny skies and sultry heat was a hand-painted banner draped across the top of an airplane hangar that reads, “Obama Welcome to SUX – We Did Build This.” “SUX” is the airport code for Sioux City.

The message appeared to be a response President Obama’s “you didn’t build that” remark from a July campaign rally, when he was trying to explain that government – not businesses – constructed public infrastructure on which the economy relies.

This time around, the president’s campaign believes it can turn the Sioux City region blue by appealing to middle class values and highlighting the administration’s record of tax cuts for small businesses and families.

There were no identifying markers on the hangar or the banner to suggest who made it, and a call to the Woodbury County GOP was not immediately returned.

The president is on the first of a four-day tour through battleground states, leading up to his formal nomination for the presidency at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday. He spends Sunday rallying supporters in Boulder, Colo.

BOULDER, Colo. — Courting young voters who are critical to his hopes for a second term, President Barack Obama urged a crowd of 13,000 at University of Colorado Boulder to eat a pizza named after him at a popular local spot.

“I’ve been told that The Sink renamed one of their pizzas after me,” Obama told the sea of supporters. “I’m deeply moved by this.”

“. We put the olives and the onion on there for Michelle — so you can say that you had some vegetables on your pizza,” he said, referring to first lady Michelle Obama’s push for healthy eating.

Obama’s pizza push came a day after the White House made public its beer recipes.

USA Today: Quiet day of protest ahead of Democratic National Convention

    By Alan Gomez 9/3/2012

CHARLOTTE – You might not recognize the protests at the Democratic National Convention.

    By Scott Olson

Protest signs lay in a pile in Frazier Park following a march through the Charlotte, N.C., business district before the start of the Democratic National Convention.

In a nightclub east of the city, a group of illegal immigrants who made a cross-country bus tour to highlight their dire circumstances met to share tales of their trip and listen to a band made up of day laborers.

The message was varied: Many called for less financial influence in politics, more assistance for the homeless and unemployed, more help for people struggling to pay their mortgages and an end to foreign wars.

Gerardo Torres, 41, was one of the illegal immigrants who joined the cross-country bus tour — called the “UndocuBus,” playing off their undocumented status.

He was disappointed that more people didn’t attend Sunday’s march, but he said many more people can remain involved through technology. The group was updating its status through Facebook and Twitter and it even live-streamed video directly from their bus.

“We’ve realized that through the Internet, we’ve been able to send the message farther than before,” Torres said. “The way to protest now is through technology.”

    All those illegals not arrested?

Egypt and U.S. near deal on debt relief

By Michael Birnbaum Sept 3 2012

    CAIRO —

U.S. officials have been in Cairo since last week hammering out the details of the debt relief package, which could approach $1 billion, a goal previously announced by the Obama administration.

Egypt is facing crippling poverty, rising inflation and a surge of young people who will need jobs in coming years.

American officials have been cautious about how to aid Egypt’s volatile political transition, and at times Egypt has been cautious about taking U.S. money.

But Morsi has said that his first priority is to revive the economy, and he has appeared to welcome assistance from the United States and the International Monetary Fund, both of which are controversial in Egypt.

“The United States is working to help relieve Egypt of part of its immediate fiscal and balance-of-payments pressure in support of the Egyptian government’s own, home-grown reform plan,” Undersecretary of State Robert D. Hormats said in a speech at the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt last week after meeting with Egyptian officials.

Hormats said that the U.S. government was offering $250 million in loan guarantees for small and medium-sized businesses, and at least an additional $219 million for loans and other investments in small businesses.

With both sides trying to bolster Egypt’s economy and ease its transition to democracy, a U.S. trade delegation is set to arrive at the end of the week with representatives from more than 40 American companies considering investments in the country.

This is worth reading. From the beginning of the revolution the Muslim Youth who led made it clear they did not want U.S. assistance in any form of advice or money. This article doesn’t tell of the Morsi Government and the people made it clear they did not want U.S. aid. even going so far as arresting and banning U.S. American’s from leaving Egypt because they were there trying to give financial aid. Remember the State of the Dept of Transportation’s son being one of them the U.S. had to make underhanded deals to get the American’s released?

Obama is going to force our business and money down Egypt’s throat if that is what it takes to ruin America.

Why? Because, Obama wants to say “I built this business with your money in Egypt”

Payments are made not only to members of Fatah, the political faction of PA President Mahmoud Abbas, but also to those of his bitter Islamist rivals from Hamas, and other factions.

In all, such payments cost the PA some 6 percent of its overall budget, Israel’s Channel 2 news reported on Monday night, citing documentation signed by Fayyad.

An amendment of the law in January 2011 enacted by Fayyad increased the salaries by up to 300%, Channel 2 reported.

According to the Channel 2 report, the PA-funded salaries are an equal opportunity benefit; members of Fatah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad all receive them.

Abdullah Barghouti, a Hamas bomb-maker who was sentenced in 2004 to 67 life terms for orchestrating the killings of 67 Israelis, receives a monthly stipend of NIS 4,000. In less than a year that figure will rise to NIS 6,000 ($1,500).

Another major Hamas terrorist figure, Abbas al-Sayyeed, convicted of planning the 2002 Park Hotel massacre, in which 30 Israeli civilians were killed as they sat down for a Passover meal, is paid NIS 12,000 ($3,000) per month.

Yossi Druker, the head of the air defense directorate at Rafael, told Ynet that the US and six other countries located in Asia, Europe and South America have expressed interest in purchasing Iron Dome batteries for their own use.

“The interest comes from countries with possible zones of conflict that are similar to those that Israel has… The Americans expressed interest in the system to use in Iraq and Afghanistan, where their bases are exposed to rocket fire,” he said.

“All the improvements that we’ve made are on the software level, which means the changes were relatively cheap and did not touch upon rocket dismantlement,” Druckman said. “(…) The system now has far better capabilities for dealing with rocket barrages… Our next goal is to incorporate as many targets as possible in the Iron Dome’s interception capability, in a manner that would save the State a lot of money.”

In addition to the Iron Dome developers, 16 others were awarded the Israel Defense Prize, including one woman. The latter winners worked on two operational projects whose nature is classified.

Obama nomination speech moved indoors to smaller venue, thousands left out
Democratic officials, citing weather concerns, are moving President Obama’s planned nomination acceptance speech indoors — and in doing so, choosing a significantly smaller venue that will leave out potentially thousands of Obama supporters.

The campaign is already moving to figure out what to do with those who planned to attend, and indicated Wednesday they would be invited to future Obama events, though not the main event this Thursday in Charlotte. An Obama campaign source told FoxNews.com the team is urging supporters to stay home Thursday and, instead, organize watch parties and participate in the live stream.

“We are encouraging them not to come to Charlotte,” the source said.

Obama plans to speak to surely disappointed credential holders via conference call Thursday afternoon.

Democratic officials stressed the decision was made for public safety reasons.

“The last thing we wanted was a stadium full of people with lightning breaking out around 10 to 11 p.m.,” Obama spokesman Brent Colburn told Fox News.

The move, though, is a problem for all the Obama supporters — ranging from college students to church congregants — being brought into Charlotte for what was thought to be a stadium-sized event. Democrats were aiming to fill 65,000 of the 72,000 seats at the Bank of America Stadium.

By contrast, the Time Warner arena has just 20,000 seats.

Though convention officials cited the weather as the reason, some had expressed concern about the difficult task of filling seats at the Bank of America Stadium.

One Democratic official told Fox News earlier in the week that they were planning to bus supporters in from not just South Carolina but Georgia, and possibly other states.

While weather was a concern, one source said some Democrats had been hoping it would also serve as a handy solution to the potential attendance problem at the stadium.

Republicans quickly pointed to that issue, as they responded to the convention “downgrade” Wednesday.

“Problems filling the seats?” asked an email from the Republican National Committee.

At the Republican Convetion they had only one empty chair.
