Americans Thank Obama For His Mercies

From the website of Mr. Obama’s endless campaign, Organizing for America:

Foundation For Change

PHIL

Cathedral City, CA

I was laid off in mid-January from a job I had for 12 years. It’s really getting hard to make ends meet, but this month I got some great news. This week I received in the mail official notification that my COBRA monthly payments for medical, dental and vision insurance will decrease from $468 to only $163, all due to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. This is a $305 in savings a month!

I can’t tell you how much of a weight off my shoulders this is. I am living proof of how the President’s bold initiatives are beginning to work!

DONNA

Upper Marlboro, MD

I’ve seen the Recovery Act work around me — simple things, but they have affected peoples lives.

A co-worker came to me to complain about how our health insurance plan is going up in May — for a single person, about $25.00 more per paycheck. I reminded her that that starting on April 1st she would be getting just about that amount based on the tax cut from the ARRA. She was thrilled and her problem was solved.

Then just this morning another co-worker came to me to tell me that his niece lost her job in January and was worried about being able to afford COBRA. [But because of] the Recovery Act, she will now be able to afford to keep her insurance until she is eligible for health coverage through her new job.

Thank you President Obama — we are living the results.

CAROL

Columbia, MD

I’m a free-lance court reporter residing in Maryland. My husband works at Toyota Financial. I’m basically an independent contractor, and like so many small businesses, I’ve been affected by the economic downturn — my phone doesn’t ring nearly as often as before. I am keeping my head above water, albeit barely.

The immediate tax cuts showed up in my husband’s bi-weekly paycheck, an extra $35. That doesn’t sound like a whole lot, but that’s an extra $70 per month. With that, my husband and I can take a vacation to Pennsylvania for the weekend, something we haven’t been able to do in two years.

I know health care is going to be a real dog fight, what with the lobbyists already lining up in attack mode, but there are many, many, many of us out here who are ready, willing, and able to help fight for health care reform. I’m very pleased with the President’s initial steps (SCHIP, etc.) but we all know there is much more to be done.

LESLIE

Aurora, CO

I’m a single mother of three, and I found that I needed all these policies after I lost my job. But thanks to the stimulus, I’ve been helped in a number of different ways, and so far my bills are affordable.

The corporate subsidy to employers for COBRA payments has meant that I only have to pay for 35% of coverage, so it’s going to be relatively affordable to keep health insurance through that program. And if I can’t afford to stay on, my kids would now be eligible to go on the SCHIP program.

I’m going to have two kids in college in the fall, and I’m going to be collecting a tax credit as a result. Because of the stimulus, the tax credit was increased, and the income limit was dropped considerably so that I’m now eligible. I’ve also been helped by the unemployment benefits extension. Payments were increased by an extra $100 a month because of the stimulus bill, and I’ll be eligible for payments for longer.

JIM

Prescott, AZ

Never in my lifetime, or even my parents’ lifetime, can I remember any U.S. President taking the bold steps that we all know in our hearts must be taken.

Money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will go towards developing and building alternative energy solutions, and in my view this is the single biggest factor in this whole equation. A new alternative energy economy will not only create jobs and improve our economy, but it will do wonders for our nation’s security while reducing greenhouse gases.

Thank you President Obama, for having the confidence in America to do what you are doing.

BARB

New Port Richey, FL

My husband is disabled and I am retired. We live on a fixed income, but we have learned how to live on little, and to live within our means. The stimulus package helps so many in so many ways … My son lost his job in March and his wife is battling cancer — now we know they can get their health care via COBRA at a reduced cost, and they can probably refinance their mortgage as well.

Even my Governor Charlie Crist gives credit to this stimulus package for him not having to lay off more people.

MARILYN

Crystal Beach, FL

Last year I was out of work for 10 horrible months. My husband and I had a little savings but before long we had to use it to put food on out table and pay the bills. In order to find work we had to relocate and moved in with one of our children.

Once we settled in, I was able to find work in a call center. By my second paycheck, the middle class tax cut meant that I saw a $22 a week increase in every check. To some this may not seem like a lot, but for my husband and I it’s a fortune. It means that I’m able to put at least $10 a week in the savings account that I had to deplete last year. Saving $10 a week may not seem like a lot to some people, but it does add up. Our savings account balance was at $1.01 for 10 months and now it’s up to $50. Not a lot, but just like the campaign, $1, $5 and $10 at a time will create change.

My son has struggled with a rare terminal genetic disease called "Wolfram Syndrome" since he was a child. As Wolfram Syndrome Families we are celebrating because of President Obama support and commitment to patients and research. We just got the approval for a clinical grant that has been in a holding pattern for a few years. Wolfram Syndrome is a rare disease with very little financial support. Removing the restrictions on stem cell research as well as sponsorship of research gives us hope.

I want everyone to have access to the care they need so they can be empowered to care for themselves in the best possible way.

The Messiah has done all thisl. And in just 100 amazing days.

You will bow down.

Colonel, Sheep is right…the leftist always parades the sad-sack/down-on-their-luck nitwits begging for a gov’t handout.

I just threw up in my mouth

  3. catie says:

Hallelujah, thank God for the Messiah.
Wow, what a cross section of individuals. They sure hit just about every ethnic group and was that a gay couple with a baby? We had no idea what a wasteland we were living in until the Messiah came to rescue us! Hallelujah, we are saved!

    • LOL that is a “stock photography” cross section probably.. Look for the copyright watermark in the corners..

    • Celina says:

I thought it was 2 dudes too but I think the one on the left is a woman.

When faced with bad economic news I keep hearing from leftists that the ARRA has not had time to work yet.

Clearly the big O has a time machine. /sarc :)

    • catie says:

Jason, yes it does look like stock photography for some of those pics doesn’t it? That is funny.
Celina, I went back and looked at it and you’re probably right but it was a close call. I hear the same thing from the lefties I know too.

Dear Obamy, I’m a reparation-less lazy-ass who has been trying for 12 years to get my hands in the pocket of the guy on the other side of the fence. He’s a lucky white guy who has a genetic pre-disposition to work 60 hours a week, and he has all sorts of shit that I haven’t been able to sneak out of his garage yet.

But now with the Economic Reparations Recovery act that people didn’t get to read, he has started drinking twice the beer he use to, and I’ve been able to clip into his cable service and electricity, replace my tires with his newer ones, and get fertizer for my “garden”.

Thanks Mr. Obamy, for spreading the wealth around to some peeples who really needs it.

  5. heykev says:

While I’m grateful for the extension on unemployment and the additional $100 bucks. I would much more prefer that BHO (and Bush) had done nothing for the banks and the auto makers.

Because of their meddling in the economy they took what was a small recession, which we would be out of NOW, and are making it into another Depression.

    • Steve says:

“While I’m grateful for the extension on unemployment and the additional $100 bucks…”

Mr. Obama had nothing to do with the extension of unemployment benefits.

That was the hateful and mean-spirited President Bush.

    • BatK says:

I was able to collect on those unemployment extensions last year (thank goodness!) and President Bush is actually mentioned in the verbiage as to the reason for the extension…

    • Howard Roark says:

Because of their meddling in the economy they took what was a small recession, which we would be out of NOW, and are making it into another Depression.

I’m with you, completely, on that sentiment, heykev. I need for the business community to have its own corrective measures be applied instead of deficit spending for the marginal programs that will only prolong this pain indefinitely.

One of my favorites is the scary-looking thing who says that she is basically an independent contractor, out of work, while hubby works at Toyota Financial. Is her African American experience so terrible and fraught with racism that she can’t find a floor to scrub or baby to birth? Nope. Her testimony of woe and marginalization included the safe knowledge that, despite the economy in this downright mean country, she and hubby will now be able to vacation in Pennsylvania thanks to homey Obomey.

    • JohnMG says:

Here’s another angle. Since this administration began meddling with the economy, my small construction business has suffered enormously. As a result of the incessant fear-mongering my business income has dropped to almost zero, (that’s not an exaggeration) my cash reserves are gone, my overhead costs have increased, and I’ve been forced to dip into my personal savings to keep the business afloat. Year-end accounting showed that my ’08 gross revenues were off 40% from 2007. My 1st quarter tracking for ’09 shows an 88% decrease from ’08 revenues for the same period. Based on this, would any of you say business is bad? And I don’t qualify for unemployment benefits, so where do I go for relief?

According to Obama, help is on the way, and the good news is, my stimulus package arrived in the mailbox today. It consists of a book of matches, a big cigar, and a 4′ long section of garden hose.
Now I can blow smoke up my own ass!

    • Liberals Demise says:

JMG….you will get a tax bill for the cigar and 4′ section of hose.
Oh yeah…..and a citation from the EPA for “Blowing smoke up your ass” without a permit!!

    • Odie44 says:

      John –

I feel for you. I sell agency services to corporate marketers and the apathy due to fear, i.e. lack of capital expenditures has everyone in “zombie mode”. Many tell me they would like to switch for the better, but due to “shaky growth and an unforseen future”, they are sitting tight. All the while, sales, revenue are taking a hit – so they are in a lose/lose situation. One company even mentioned they dont trust analysts and internal projections, because the formulas aren’t “real”

I target high growth sectors, industries and go for the “diamond in the rough” type of companies who can gain market share under a recession – but even they are holding back, due to high costs, escalating healthcare costs and are always weary of layoffs.

In other words, we represent the dying breed of investment, growth, and get off your ass types of businesses.

    • heykev says:

My Bad Steve…According to my relatives…BERRY is the one who provided this for me. Just figured that it had to be that magnanimous BHO’s idea to provide for me (and my family) in our time of need.

Knowing it was that “hateful and mean-spirited President Bush,” I’m even more thankful.

      Howard –
She said “I’m a free-lance court reporter residing in Maryland.” this means she would be making at least $20/hr and near to several major metropolitan area’s. Not having worked in that particular field, I can’t speak to how much opportunity there is available. But I’ve not heard of any government entity laying off or down-sizing.

    • Howard Roark says:

I was thinking similar thoughts about her “phone not ringing as often as before”, heykev. She is very close to Baltimore, which I’m sure has no shortage of court cases. But who am I to question someone who “waits for the phone to ring”?

JMG, my hat is off to you contractors in the building trade. I know you’re going through hell, right now. And yes, it is much worse for you, because there is no relief in the way of unemployment as there is for the rest of us. I have always said that (small-medium) business owners are the unsung heroes of our country, besides soldiers.

I just got through siding a house (8-ft 5/8″ cedar sheets) with a self-emloyed friend of mine down here. It took us a few days to complete, and I heard a lot of details about being shafted by a developer for 100k last year, no legal recourse in sight, and how the ripple affect from it has driven him to bankruptcy. He joked about suicide.

I couldn’t accept any compensation from him for my part of it, when it was all done. As you say, at least I have unemployment. He and you don’t. I only hope to God that America’s business owners will soon see enough business to hire back those of us soon. Unfortunately, Barry’s stimulus packages all start and end with “programs” that only help the folks in those pictures above. Not one of them even understand life from your point of view, or realize that you all are the proverbial canaries in the coal mine.

I’d much rather read stories of the JMG’s who are being helped by TCO’s “remedies” than those in this article.

    • JohnMG says:

Thanks Howard, and everybody else, for all your comments. I hope the tone didn’t come across as a perpetual whine or a pity-party. More like frustration. I’ve been union my entire career and have played by the rules. Now that times are rough (again–remember Carter?), all of the union guys that are laid off are hustling the type of work I primarily do. Only thing is, they aren’t paying taxes, don’t carry workers comp, don’t carry liability, take payment in cash, and collect unemployment on top of it all. And our business agents (bastards) look the other way as if it’s not going on, while I watch my retirement nest egg dwindle into the vapors.

Obama is a disaster for anyone who is self-employed, but it’s practically impossible to make most of these zombies see it. Since I’m old enough to retire I’m giving it until tax-time next year, but I refuse to hang on any longer than that and help the Moron finance a bunch of deadbeat grifters’ gravy train.

    • proreason says:

“Obama is a disaster for anyone who is self-employed”

It’s the self part they are destroying, John. It doesn’t rhyme with Socialism.

If you can do something for yourSELF, then they can’t control you.

      Seriously, that’s what it’s about.

Your situation is one example of why we are in much deeper shit than most people think, even people who are still working with good jobs.

Another reason is that the capital markets have been knocked out. Oh sure, the exchanges are still open, and stocks are still traded, but contemplate this….from 1927 until last year, the average return on equities (including MANY downturns) was over 10%. THAT is why people could retire before they turned 80, not because they get $1,500 a month from Social Security. But stocks only go up when private business MAKE MONEY. And that will never happen again with earnings that support anything close to 10% growth rates, unless this regime if overthrown in a decisive way. It CAN’T happen again when the government can take the business whenever it pleases, when the top politicians demonize businessmen, when wages are set by Central Planners, and when other business terms are dictated by the government to buy votes.

Lifestyles peaked in this country in June 2008. They will never again approach anything close to that level. By 2012, the average lifestyle will be 50-70% of what it was in 2008, and will continue to decline. It will be earth-shattering. Families will be forced to share housing. There will be a fraction of the restaurants that exist today. Cars will be treasures that families will keep for decades. People will work into their 70’s. And it won’t be because of the “recession/depression”. It will be because the criminals in the White House destroyed the free economy to give themselves an iron grip on power.

But the haters who voted for Obama will be happy, John……because they will have been able to destroy what it took you a lifetime to build.

And the economy is the least of the problems we face with the thugs who stole our country.

    • heykev says:

I have a good friend who is in the remodeling business. He updates tony homes all over the Chicago area. As of this fall, he has not had any homes to remodel. He’s had to lay off his people and does not know where or how he’s to continue to make ends meet if he does not get some business soon.

I have been offered several jobs, but then get calls from these companies saying that that particular position is being placed on hold for a short while. . .I’m still waiting for some of them. The remainder I’ve given up on as after I call back the HR person for the 10 week in a row, am told that they are not going to fill that position and there are in fact no open positions there. And these are major fortune 500 companies who are actually making money. So I can really emphasize with you Odie. Companies are in a “zombie mode” where everyone is afraid to make or do anything.

I saw reports to our CEO (please don’t tell ’em) and it’s basically as you describe. They don’t trust anything they read and don’t have a clue about what should be done. It’s my opinion that BHO is bad not only for small business, but all business. The pain is just must deeper for small business owners.

  6. VMAN says:

Praise de Lawd fo Obama. Half these people are out of work and they’re concerned about COBRA not getting another job. They’re so happy about the couple of extra bucks they’re getting not realizing that that has been eaten up by higher gas prices among other things. What a bunch of sycophantic boobs if they are even real people. I just heard on Beck’s radio show that 96% of blacks approve of Obama and 0% disapprove (4% had no opinion). What a load. I don’t see how any descent, hard working, church going, bible believing black person has ANYTHING in common with this atheist, baby killing, queer loving, communist.

  7. Odie44 says:

Odd – no one is commenting on how they have learned, invested or are growing their own independence while “learning to fish”

    Though alot are eating it…

Once again – the nanny handout mentality is in full force and zero society input to boot.

    • VMAN says:

The sad part is that they’re not even getting a fish, they’re getting nothing. It’s all an illusion. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

    • Colonel1961 says:

Learning to fish is so last millennium…

  8. Warmonger Infidel says:

Here’s some perspective on how the rest of the world views us. I’ve been working mostly in Ukraine, occasionally in Prague, CR since January. Prior to that I was in Taiwan for about 6 months. Ever since it became probable that Obama would be ‘the one’ and since he’s officially been ‘the one’, I’ve been asked repeatedly by locals of all three countries if I didn’t think it wonderful that he was going to provide health care to everyone in America.

The look of shock and their reaction when I tell them that everyone in America already has access to health care is stunning. Then I have to explain that no matter your legality in the country, no matter your complete lack of responsibility, no matter your complete lack of ambition to get an education, job and health insurance, you can go to any hospital emergency room and get health care for free. Well free to the slug, but expensive for the rest of us. When I go on to explain how ‘the one’ wants to make sure those of us that have, through hard work and responsibility, pay for those who don’t, mostly, but not always, due to their own life choices, the reaction is even more stunning. In fact, my new Ukrainian interpreter’s was the best at dinner last night. Said Yuriy to me: “I didn’t realize that America is becoming more and more like our old masters, the Soviets. Maybe Obama isn’t what the news media portray him to be”.

The truth hurts, doesn’t it? Foundation for Change my arse. They are nothing but a vehicle of wealth redistribution and the ruination of America.

    • proreason says:

Ukaine, Prague and Taiwan are the next steps.

The Moron has never had a job that he paid any attention to. It’s always onto the next big thing.

Someone with the simplistic ego of Clinton or a Bush would be satisfied being president of the world’s most powerful country. But OSoros’ ears wouldn’t even fit in Stalin’s or Adolf’s cap, no matter his head.

Next….change the world can believe in.

  9. OK… Steve? you owe me for a cleaning bill

The pizza from last night was doing just fine until the first couple of the testimonials. You could have stopped there… But NOOO you had to prove a point, and now as a result of a star spangled projected dinner session, (think 1812 overture ..with full cannon shots) I now have new wallpaper.

Where do I send the invoice?

  10. pearl says:

“the bold steps that we all know in our hearts must be taken”

UGH. Seriously? This reads like something out of Leningrad circa 1924. With cheap stock photography. These people cannot be for real…

I was going to write my own stimulus “thanks” here but I’m speechless.

  11. take_no_prisoners says:

    “You will bow down.”
Unless you are producing something, in which case, its more like: You will bend over and grab your ankles:-(.

  12. DoctorRock says:

I remember opining here about our congress, to the effect that “they don’t have any smart people to help them”. It’s obvious now that they hate smart people. You know how smart people will make jokes you don’t understand, and then when everybody laughs you can’t be sure they’re not laughing at you? Precisely.
Ronald the Great used smart people to bail us out (i.e. supply side), but as smart people can’t be trusted, this administration will save us by making more civil servants. I suggest we get behind America’s last two thriving industries – cheeseburgers and pornography. We could start a franchise, “The Sweetness & Light Burgers and Adult Bookstore”. Clients would only have to find locations near government office facilities, post offices and such, and we could guarantee them a recession proof business.

  13. GL0120 says:

Thank you Massah O; because you tanked the market I lost my job.
But that’s okay, the extra $35 a week will help buy lots of mac ‘n’ cheese so my family won’t starve.
Wait, I don’t get a paycheck so there is no extra $35 a week.
At least I’ll save on Cobra but then again, if you hadn’t screwed the market, I’d still have a job and my health benefits would be half of even the reduced Cobra amount!
Of course that extra $35 a week is just smoke and mirrors; it’s only a withholding change, not a tax cut, so come next April that $35 a week would show up as tax I owe and mac ‘n’ cheese is not deductible.

  14. texaspsue says:

The flip side. GOP website has “Stories from the Heartland”, real stories about how Obama’s economy has changed their lives for the worse.

Same here JohnMG. (Great post JMG.) It’s not a “pity party”, it’s just plain facts. The era of the small businessman seems to be grinding to a halt.

Call me stubborn but, I haven’t lit that dang cigar yet though. :-)

  17. eucher says:

Hey Kool-aid drinkers, don’t spend that money yet – your tax LIABILITY hasn’t gone down, he’s just letting you borrow ahead. You still have to pay it all back by next April 15.

I mean, come on, he’s got photo ops to get to and parties in the White House to hold and dresses to buy Michelle and gardens to plant and dictators to meet and all his constituents in Europe to go visit … plus the cost of backup teleprompters. SOMEone has to pay for all that.

    • proreason says:

      Such a naysayer, eucher.

If you save the difference between the old w-4 and new w-4 deduction, and invest it in an insured savings account, you will have up to $6 more in your pocket by next April 15.

Now, THAT’s change you can believe in. 24 quarters to be exact.

    • JohnMG says:

Yeah, Pro! Twenty-four consecutive quarters of profit. That’s how the MSM will spin it.

  18. Melly says:

A lot of qualifying words when you click on the web site. Roll over the states and you read such things like “….jobs created OR SAVED.”

How can one tell if a job was saved. Barry can claim then to have saved all the jobs in the country due to “his” decisions.

This, Steve, was a very repulsive entry. Thanks. One of many to come I fear. ;-)

  19. Except for the folks with a disabled child, I’m slack jawed at how unashamed these people are to sup at the public pork trough, and help themselves to other people’s tax dollars for personal gain.

What a nation of parasites we’ve become.

“It is impossible to introduce into society a greater change and a greater evil than this: the conversion of the law into an instrument of plunder.” – Frederic Bastiat

Fantastic Quote. True to the bone. It’s exactly what is happening.

Here is some wiki info on Mr. Bastiat.

“Contained within Economic Sophisms is the famous satirical parable known as the “Candlemakers’ petition”[4] which presents itself as a demand from the candlemakers’ guild to the French government, asking the government to block out the Sun to prevent its unfair competition with their products. He also facetiously “advocated” the cutting off of everyone’s right hand, based on the assumptions that more work means more wealth and more difficulty means more work”

    • U NO HOO says:

“Except for the folks with a disabled child”

Our family had a child with a congenital defect which was corrected by the state programs. Lots of surgery…mostly paid for outside the family, thank God also.

Having said that, Lions Clubs are “looking” for people to help. The government doesn’t have to solve every problem or help every unfortunate person. Call United Way…

  20. BigOil says:

Apparently grovelling has replaced rugged individualism as the defining characteristic of Americans in Barry’s re-made America.

  21. 12 Gauge Rage says:

Is this article a spoof or are there people really that gullible and blind as to what’s happening? I’d rather deal with God’s angry wrath than the mercies of a corrupt politician.

    • curvyred says:

Sadly there are millions of people who apparently think “these good deeds” and the money that pays for them materializes right out the messiah’s pocketbook – wait until they get the bill – of course many of them will probably never work so they may never get the bill – but the rest of us will.

  22. wardmama4 says:

I have to side with everyone who thinks that these people are stupid – where in the world do these moroons think that the money is coming from? Are they that clueless that it is coming from working people – the backbone of America?

My hubby and I have spent our entire marriage struggling to make ends meet, finding creative ways to have more money than month, to house and feed our family – and to have a semblance of normal life. It hurt (a tiny bit) to see our children outstrip us as each one stepped out into the world – but we acknowledge they had pursued college, jobs and stayed single – a lot longer than we did.

Now we are having a banner year (sorry that not all here are) – I am still scared that thanks to The One ™ it won’t last – so I save what I can, still garden to give us some extra, fresh food and worry about what the next few years will bring. And that makes me angry beyond compare – we have finally gone back to school (hubby about a year out from a degree, I hope to have a certification by summers end) – and hubby has a good co-op job and yet we are back to where we started – worrying about tomorrow, if it will be there when we graduate, and how much is going to be taken away from us by the taxman (well really by the Obama Administration & the Klownposse in DC).

Then today I realized what does it matter – we are all going to succumb to the swine flu because the CDC and Obama Administration doesn’t want to offend anyone by securing our borders – even Father (oops, my bad) Brother Raul is closing Cuba to Mexico.

And that people, is what the remaining 1360 days of The One’s ™ term will be – one perpetual ‘crisis’ after another masking the hidden agenda that this socialist forces down the throats of the American people. Expect healthcare and Shamnesty to be packaged up together in another ‘must pass today’ stimulus bill this week. And of course another gazillion added to the deficit. What’s it matter to The One ™, he won’t be paying it.

  23. Kilmeny says:

Wow. Just……wow. Kissing his feet in gratitude because they got a precious few of their own tax dollars back? $22, $25, per paycheck?

I’m betting though, that it won’t be near enough for the Peggy Josephs of the country…..

  24. K1r0ft says:

I’m glad to see the Captain & Tennille are benefiting!

The language and syntax of the entries are too similar. They also have an amazingly consistent theme. Either these were hand picked entries to create an atmosphere of wonderment surrounding the munificence of the great giver, Obama, or they are a fabrication created by one person. If I had to hedge my bet, I would say that they are all written by the same person. Now whether it was one of the fanatical followers of the messiah or one of his lackeys we will never know. But there really isn’t much difference between the two groups; both have imbibed too much kool-aid.

They were most likely scripted by a WH intern or campaign toad in payment for their support. But you’re right, the real transparency in this administration is the way you can see right through this crap.

    • Colonel1961 says:

Good point, Banned. Even if these comments were really sent in, they’ve been re-written (re-crafted) into a single voice. You can read the letters to the Editor section of any paper and see the disparity in syntax, lexicon, et al., that is missing from these testimonials.

One of the Obamabots says she is a “free-lance court reporter,” and “her phone hasn’t been ringing in a while.” Let me give you the translation… Her fancy sounding job is the product of some gov’t funded “educational” program. The G stepped in to helps the peoples with funded training for an exciting career in the “legal field.” She picked that particular position because it involves a lot of sitting, and she knows a lot about the court system, having never missed an episode of “Judge Judy.” The gov’t job counseler also explained that she was “uniquely qualified” for such a career, being that the program was only open to “under-educated” minorities. (Sorry recent College and High School grads looking for a good starter job, but you’re S.O.L.) She attended six weeks of classes at a local Community College, and received gov’t funded transportation vouchers to cover her cab fare to and from the site, and an additional gov’t funded payout to cover the childcare costs for her several children while she attended “classes.” After six weeks of rigorous training in the complex and demanding art of typing what other people say, she “graduated” at a publically funded special ceremony, where every member of the class was given a certificate and fancy ribbon for their educational accomplishment. A local city councilwoman was on hand to speechify about how the “G” was creating opportunity for the many “hard-working” neighborhood peoples who need a “hand-up” not a “hand out.” The local media was on hand too! With a stirring “public interest” piece about “unity in the community.” After “graduation” our faithful Obamabot was pushed out into the real world to find out that the “G” had trained over 150 peoples to be court reporters, in an area where about 30 or so individuals were aready filling all of the available positions. After a few months of waiting for her “phone to ring,” she re-applied for additional gov’t aid and spent the $35 that Obammy gave her (out of our pockets) on Malt Liquor and lottery tickets.

    • Liberals Demise says:

That now makes her “OVER” qualified for that position anywhere in the “G”.

    • proreason says:

The problem with being a court reporter for somebody needing a “hand-up” is that it requires an understanding of the kings’ english, since that’s what the lawyers and judges speak.

Maybe the “G” trained court reporters can specialize in caturing the defendant’s english, or whatever.

    • Liberals Demise says:

      Ebonics court reporter / recorder?
      Now….that cuts it!!

    • badcrow says:

Hey Proreason! Now you know that it’s downright insensitive to criticize da way peoples be talkin wif dey frinz! Let me say that as a business owner I have a real hard time finding anyone under age 21 that can communicate even the most simple ideas and concepts with customers or each other. They all KNOW everything as well, and become flustered and angry when any attempt is made to teach or correct. It’s eerie, but I swear the schools are teaching them to think stupidly on purpose! Add to that the respect given to “street language,” and you have a real mess on you’re hands…
