Reid Claims Numerous Sources For Tax Smear

From the Las Vegas Review-Journal:

Reid doubles down on Romney tax charge

By Steve Tetreault | Aug. 1, 2012

WASHINGTON – Sen. Harry Reid caused a stir this week when he told an interviewer that Mitt Romney hasn’t released more of his tax returns because "he didn’t pay taxes for 10 years." On Wednesday, Reid doubled down on the charge…

On Wednesday, Reid stuck to his story, and broadened it.

"I am not basing this on some figment of my imagination," Reid said in a telephone call with Nevada reporters. "I have had a number of people tell me that."

So now it is “a number of people” who have told Reid this? A “number of people” know all about Mitt Romney’s tax payments?

As we noted yesterday, Harry Reid has a habit of making up people to suit his needs. At the height of the amnesty debate in 2007, Harry Reid told us about a phone call he got from one of his constituents who wanted amnesty to be passed. Reid said his name was ‘Tommy.’

Several people challenged Reid to bring ‘Tommy’ forward, but he never did. Probably because ‘Tommy’ never existed outside of Harry Reid’s fevered imagination, anymore than this “number of people” do.

Asked to elaborate on his sources, Reid declined. "No, that’s the best you’re going to get from me."

"I don’t think the burden should be on me," Reid said. "The burden should be on him. He’s the one I’ve alleged has not paid any taxes. Why didn’t he release his tax returns?" …

This is what passes for ‘logic’ from the second highest ranking Democrat in the land. If a lunatic makes an allegation, the burden is on the accused to clear himself.

By the way, as we also noted yesterday, Mr. Reid has never released any of his tax returns during all of his years in Congress. So why doesn’t he have the burden of proving that he isn’t a tax cheat?

Especially, given that he is reported to have gotten rich from shady land deals.

Reid challenged the media to be more aggressive in digging into Romney’s finances.

"What if he has paid no taxes, like I am saying he hasn’t," Reid said. "What if he has all these moneys as we already know … in the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Swiss banks. I mean, gee whiz, rather than ask me why I should do this, that is a story you should be writing."

They don’t know any such thing. Romney’s money is in a blind trust. Unlike Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s, who does have money in Swiss banks.

At this point, Harry Reid is looking at a lawsuit and possible jailtime. In that lawsuit, Romney though, would have to prove damage. The damage, of course is in the measurable loss of votes in the election and reid will gladly fall on his own sword to make Romney lose..as he most likely sees the handwriting on the wall and is planning on retiring anyway.

What better parting shot than to destroy a GOP candidate in the process?

But defamation of character is a difficult (some say the MOST difficult) case to win in court and Reid knows this. But he is slinging mud of the most ruthless kind and may find himself in bad straits. He may also open the door on his own tax behavior, which is only fair. And democrats are all about “fair” aren’t they?

WOW, I mean, WOOOOWWWWW!!!!!! How does any news reporter take these claims seriously? Just saying something makes it true without the slightest piece of evidence? Somebody, somewhere, somehow, told me something that I think may be true, but I’m just saying I’d bet it is, even though I’m not willing to undergo the same scrutiny and anyone making the same crazy claim against me would be completely false. Have we crossed into the freaking Twilight Zone? Even democrats can’t be buying into this mentally disturbed man’s allegations, can they? We have crossed over into a parallel universe where the constitution has been changed to allow the accused to be guilty, regardless of the charge, regardless of proof, as long as someone says it’s so then by God it’s got to be true. I guess Romney should turn himself in to the local IRS agent and the Republicans should just get another candidate they will do the very same thing to. I guess the point is to just forget about even running against a democrat and let Obama become King of the Land. Problem solved, let’s move on….

I keep coming back to the fact that the IRS is one of the most ruthless organizations on the planet. If someone like Mitt Romney had all of a sudden stopped paying taxes for a decade, he would have been crucified for it long ago. And now, since Obama can use the IRS as a weapon against his enemies, if there was any proof of these accusations, Romney would already be in jail. If we should be digging into anyone’s financial and tax records, lets look at GE. They made BILLIONS but are apparently in a special group where paying no taxes is acceptable. Oh, that’s right… the head of GE is Obama’s jobs czar. No problem there.

Romney should get his minions on Harry Reid’s taxes and financial history. The man has been in the pocket of organized crime for years. It shouldn’t be too hard to prove his criminal activities with actual evidence, that is if the “journalists” out there are still interested in “hard evidence”. For that matter, let’s just make releasing Romney’s tax returns contingent upon the release of Obama’s college transcripts. Or, even more specifically, where did the money that paid for his Harvard education really come from.

The problem for the libs is that they tend to accuse others of what they themselves are already guilty of. They can’t help it. It’s a symptom of sociopathy. All we have to do is listen to their accusations to have a pretty good idea of what they are hiding. I’ll bet Harry Reid hasn’t paid taxes for a decades, at least not on all his money. Let’s look into Reid’s connections to the Vegas Mob. Harry is far too inept to have gotten where he is without help from organized crime. Of course, since this administration uses organized crime as the model to run the government, seperating the Vegas mob from the DC mob would be a difficult task.

……”I am not basing this on some figment of my imagination,” Reid said in a telephone call with Nevada reporters. “I have had a number of people tell me that.”…….

But you ARE basing it on a figment of someone’s imagination, you pinch-faced little dweeb. S**t like this makes me want to slap the taste right out of his lying mouth. Instead……..

Earlier today I was told by one of my competitors at the lumber yard, that Harry Reid was caught at one of the local Las Vegas bordellos dressed in Hillary Clinton’s leather bustier and a silk thong……with her bullwhip firmly inserted in his bung. He also claims to have incriminating photos. This person said he had initially heard this from a chambermaid who doubles as a pedicurist at the bordello when not caring for his bi-racial triplets–all girls–who just happen to look like the sons Obama never had, but bear a striking resemblance to Frank Marshall Davis and Bernadine Dohrn. He said Rahm Emanuel was sharing the bong that Harry was clutching between his knees……at least he THOUGHT it was the bong Rahm was toking on between Harry’s knees.

I’m not going to elaborate on my sources. That’s the best you’re going to get from me. I don’t think the burden of proof should be on me. I heard this from a reputable contractor who asked that he remain anynomous, since work hasn’t been that good for the last several years and he doesn’t want to jeopardize what little commerce he does have. The burden should be on Harry Reid. He’s the one I’ve alleged has engaged in bizzare behavior that some might say calls his ‘high moral standing’ into question.

P.S. My informant said there was no evidence in the alleged pictures that would indicate Harry had now, or had ever possessed in the past, any gonads. My informant’s informant did, however, mention there was a clearly visible large yellow stripe down Harry’s back.

SG: Unless I’m wrong, Americans are required to pay taxes on income regardless of where it is derived; be it within the country or international. Perhaps there are codes that affect the rate, I don’t know but when I asked my accountants back in the 90’s (when a Republican Congress actually balanced budgets) about the possibility off shoring may bring that was their response. With 400 CPA’s on staff I tended to believe them.

Maybe someone could clarify this for us. Something tells me a Mormon (Harry Reid notwithstanding) would be adverse to cheating on his or her taxes; even one from Massachussetts.

    • Petronius says:

      RB you are correct.

Americans working abroad or with other income from foreign sources (e.g., rental property, investment income, pension from a foreign company, etc.) are exposed to double taxation both by the foreign country and in the USA. Part of the foreign tax paid may be offset against your US tax liability, but only a part. This often results high effective tax rates on foreign income. As a result, more and more Americans living abroad are renouncing their US citizenship due to their exposure to double taxation and onerous new IRS filing requirements. The pace has accelerated drastically since 2008.

  6. GetBackJack says:

I suggest we sprinkle Holy Water on Harry Reid and see what happens ….

  7. Right of the People says:

What planet is this ass clown from? I thought living in Vermont with Leahy and Sanders as our Senators was bad! I’ll take those two over Harry Reid any day.

Funny I heard the same thing but it was about the boy king in the bustier. It must be true if more than one of us heard it.

  8. Umjammerlammy says:

“Mitt Romney didn’t pay taxes for 10 years”…
Well, neither have millions of Obama voters.
