Reid Says Jobless Men Beat Up Their Wives

From the floor of the Senate via YouTube:

Reid on abuse

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) speaks on the Senate floor about the relationship between domestic violence and unemployment.

Putting aside for the moment the accuracy of his correlating husbands being out of work and beating their wives, domestic abuse might be one subject that Harry Reid might actually have some personal knowledge about.

As we have previously noted, Mr. Reid claims to have beaten up his prospective father in law. Indeed, he has bragged about and it to reporters and others on at least two occasions.

First, in a December 2004 edition of Time Magazine:

The Democrats’ Hope in the Desert

By Joe Klein December 17, 2004

… Then, about five minutes into his answer to my question "Why did you become a Mormon?" Reid lets slip that he once got into a fistfight with his father-in-law-to-be, an observant Jew who opposed the marriage for religious reasons, and I realize how perfect both portraits are. Reid’s story is Twainian, a western desert tall tale, and his background is as brutal and hardscrabble as Jackson’s…

It is fleshed out on a website called The Tygrrrr Express, which describes Harry Reid appearing with (Meathead) Rob Reiner at UCLA in June 2008:

Meeting Harry Reid

… There were two stools on the stage, with Senator Reid occupying one, and actor and liberal activist Rob Reiner sitting on the other one. Reiner gained fame by playing the role of Mike “Meathead” Stivic on the historic sitcom “All in the family,” with Archie Bunker, played by the late Carroll O’Connor.

“My wife is Jewish. I am not sure if I had ever met a Jewish person before. Her parents were initially happy, because I was a football player, a boxer, and student body president. They were happy until things got serious. Then it all changed. Her father would not stop trying to break us up. Eventually, it got to the point where things happened. ‘Physical things’ happened.”

“We then eloped. Her parents said shiva (prayers of mourning), but then they were supportive. Once we were married, they decided to sit back and see if it would work. I had a good relationship with my father in law, and having to physically beat him up was “one of those things that happened.”

What a guy, huh?

By the way, we can’t help but wonder where Mr. Reid got his information about this uptick in domestic violence.

According to Nevada Network Against Domestic Violence, the numbers from April 2007 to April 2008 (a pdf file):

A SNAPSHOT OF VIOLENCE IN NEVADA: HARD ECONOMIC TIMES MEAN GREATER DANGER

Reno, NV— Last year [fiscal year 2007-2008], nearly 36,000 Nevadans sought help from local domestic violence programs, occupying almost 60,000 bed-nights in their shelters.

Are very similar to the numbers from April 2008 to April 2009 (a pdf file):

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: THE FACTS FISCAL YEAR 2008-2009

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN NEVADA:

37,495 victims of abuse received services from domestic violence programs in Nevada during fiscal year 2008-2009.

We don’t see the tremendous upsurge that Mr. Reid is claiming.

Is he just trying to establish a defense in case he becomes violent around the house this coming November?

…..”I was a football player, a boxer, and student body president…..”

Huh??!! This twerp was a football player? Let me guess.

He was part of the football team…….one of the team managers……..that kept the water bottles filled and collected and laundered soiled uniforms for the team.

He was a boxer……..he worked after school at the Piggly-Wiggly stocking shelves and “boxing” up groceries for the store patrons.

Student body president……probably in the fourth grade where “everybody” gets a chance to hold an office.

One thing hasn’t changed, though. Harry still likes to beat up on Jews.

John I copied the same text to comment on…but I can’t add anything better than you said. lol

I just have a hard time visualizing this little pip squeak ‘boxing’ with anyone. In my mind’s eye I keep seeing this little dude dancing around his father in law…a man who had to be at least 20 years his senior. Wow what a man. His soon to be wife was impressed enough by this behavior to marry him? She must have an IQ of 30.

So are we to learn by this that Reid, by his own words, is a man who will willingly resort to violence if he doesn’t get his way?

He strikes me as having “little man syndrome”.

He also is more than a bit insensitive (What?! A dem insensitive?) in his comment “My wife is Jewish. I am not sure if I had ever met a Jewish person before.”

Hey Mr Reid I understand there are some on display at the local museum.

He acts as if Jewishness is something odd. I wonder when he met his first black? Or Chinese? or a number of other races. If he is so race blind why even mention it. Perhaps its that Nevada desert sun that baked his brain. I recommend he get out of that desert more often.

I find back-stories of anything really interesting. Reids back story is one that may explain his bullying tactics. That ‘little man’ syndrome.

In the end, I guess we better give in to him…or he is going to get violent.

He’s laughable. Dangerous in spite of himself…but laughable.

If Reid’s lips are moving, he’s lying.

But, according to this theory Mrs. Reid ought to be concerned. Given the liklihood of Nov. 2010.

So, let’s hope Senator Harry Reid doesn’t beat his wife after November elections. Let’s hope that mental health counseling Reid got paid off. This led to Reid’s bragging on his efforts in preventing elderly suicide, which with Reid’s health bill, won’t be a worried. Community services will aid in death of the worthless disabled elderly.

Reid was promoting his book at same time Obama was, and it jumped back & forth, just as Obama’s, and the same contradictions.

    >Reid: “My wife Landra and I will be married 49 years this September. We met when she was six.”

(In all fairness, his wife does look younger than her years, and she was very…extremely…nice.)

“In Searchlight, the closest thing I had to religion in my house was FDR. In high school I saw a girl wearing shorts washing her car, and it was love at first sight.” <

Sometimes, you can understand the appeal of our elected criminals.

Obamy pretends he’s black, hates America, is muslim and bi-sexual, so every Democrat natually is compelled to vote for him.
Murtha funneled hundreds of millions into his poverty stricken district.
    McCain was a war hero.

But the allure of Reaper Reid is a mystery that will endure forever. Did he threaten to have the SEIU break the legs of anybody who voted against him? I just don’t get it.

#1 Do you really believe Obama is a Muslim?

#2 Why do you say he is bisexual? Do you have some links to this, or to infidelity? I have long thought there must be something there on the infidelity front (C’mon, democrat politician with all the swooning from young female libs) but that it was being supressed, but I have to admit that I haven’t run across even a whisper of this. I know he walks funny, but I’m not ready to judge him bisexual just on that. Is his favorite singer Liza Minelli or what? I could see him with other women, but not with other guys? Appreciate any info you have on this.

He’s an athiest, but his heart is with the Muslims.

There is one famous claim that he had a gay relationship in 1999. It was all the rage on Newsmax at one time. The claim never made it to the msm, of course.

There is another claim that he hung out in bathhouses a few hundred miles from Chicago in the 90′s. It’s sketchy, but there is enough detail to make it interesting.

The professor who recently said that Obamy was a “pure Marist” in 1980 also said he assumed Obamy was gay because he showed up with a Pakistani and they seemed like a couple. The professor’s girlfriend said they weren’t, but I find it unusual that a 20 year-old staight man would live with, hang around with, and be dressed by another man.

There are also comments around the web that both Obamy and Rahm turn on the “gaydars”.

Obamy is obviously effeminate. He is obviously a sharp dressed man. There is no evidence of him having any interest whatsoever in attractive young women. If he is straight, he must be the first famous straight politician to NEVER ever hint that he has found a woman attractive.

There is also a reference in a poem he wrote that could be about his gramps or Frank Russell that he (Obamy) and the object of the poem had matching “stains” on their pants. A very strange reference, if you ask me.

There is a girlfriend mentioned in Dreams, but no woman has ever come forward. Maybe she is just shy. No other woman has ever claimed a romantic relationship with him, yet he didn’t marry until he was 31. The age of marriage is also unusual for a man generally considered to be very attractive.

No smoking gun there, but enough to make me believe he is bi or gay.

My basic rule is: if they have the opportunity to have any woman they want, and if there is zero evidence that they took advantage of the opportunity, and there was no stong bond with a wife that formed very early in life (ala Romney, Jimmah, etc), then they are gay or bi. Obamy fits. I think it’s highly likely he is bi and perhaps a strict homosexual.

    • Confucius

Wow. This is the first I’ve heard of Obama possibly being gay. (Or as they say in occasional negro dialect, “on the down low.”)

Makes me wonder if Michelle is a she-male, transsexual or transvestite. It would explain her physique.

      White_Polluter
Go to the library and read Obama’s books.
Both his mother & step-father raised him as a muslim in Indonesia. As he grew older in Hawaii, he hid it from his grandparents. School friends made fun the muslim religion restrictions. He wrote he could not fulfill Malcome X’s dream to expunge the white blood from his veins, but he could fulfill Malcome X’s vision that the only way the black man and white man could live together in the world was through the Nation of Islam. He wrote he would keep his feverish dream secret.
Then on to college with muslim friends & roommates, changing his name to a muslim name. On to muslim organizers, Jew hating leaders, former muslim preacher, who also hated America and Jews.
Then in “hope”, the chapter on beyond our borders is all about Indonesia, his home sweet home. How it being the largest muslim country in the world per poplulation, (note, do your own history search on Indonesia so you don’t believe all their problems are America’s fault. It shows great loyality Obama has to it, and he claims the country hates the USA. It is a good a country that is a good role model of the globalization of the world. Then the significance of using taxpayers dime, to play hookie at Senate Committee visit to Iraq, to leave after a day and spend a week, in Gaza and West Bank to sympathize with Jew haters. And ending the chapter back to not be able to wait to go back and visit Indonesia on a vacation, in spite of years now, even though the radical muslim’s were increasing their suicide bomings against the modern muslims and Christians.
