Reince Priebus Calls Harry Reid ‘A Dirty Liar’

From an amused Washington Post:

Harry Reid a ‘dirty liar,’ GOP party head says

By Jerry Markon | Sunday August 5, 2012

Republicans on Sunday escalated their attacks on Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D) over his claim that presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney did not pay taxes for years, with the Republican party head calling Reid a “dirty liar.’’

You see, it is the Republicans who are on the attack. Reid has tripled down on his smears, and his aide is repeating them, but it’s the Republicans who are escalating their attacks.

Republican National Committee chair Reince Priebus, speaking on ABC’s “This Week,’’ contrasted Reid’s allegations relating to Romney’s wealth with Reid’s own lifestyle as a resident of the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Washington, where he lives.

“As far as Harry Reid is concerned, listen. . . . I’m not going to respond to a dirty liar who hasn’t filed a single page of tax returns himself. Complains about people with money but lives in the Ritz-Carlton here down the street,” Priebus said. “. . . This is just a made-up issue. And the fact that we’re going to spend any time talking about it is ridiculous.”

Reid created a political dustup last week by suggesting that Romney is withholding his tax returns because he didn’t pay taxes over a 10-year stretch

You see, Reid’s repeated slander is just a "dustup." This from the same news media that demands more civility — from Republicans.

Reid spokesman Adam Jentleson struck back at Priebus on Sunday, calling Romney “the most secretive candidate since Richard Nixon.”

Because anytime is a good time to drag in Richard Nixon. Meanwhile, Obama is exerting executive privilege and doing political dirty tricks that would have made Nixon blush crimson.

Democratic National Committee chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Fla.), also appearing on “This Week,” echoed that theme Sunday, declining to criticize Reid and saying that Romney is at fault for the confusion over his wealth.

This is more of the new civility that the Democrats like to talk about so much.

“I do know that Mitt Romney could clear this up in 10 seconds by releasing the 23 years of tax returns that he gave to John McCain when he was being vetted for vice president,” Wasserman Schultz said. “Or even 12 years of tax returns that his own father said were what was appropriate.’’ …

Notice that the Democrats are now ratcheting up their demand to 23 years of tax returns. They are literally insane. (And, lest we forget, neither Harry Reid or Debbie Wasserman Schultz have ever released their tax returns.)

Bear in mind that Reid’s irresponsibility extends far beyond spreading criminal slander. It has been more than 1,191 days since he has allowed a vote on a budget. Which is against the law. On top of that, Reid has blocked more than two dozen bi-partisan House bill that would help job creation and the economy.

By the way, where did Reid acquire his fortune? His latest financial disclosure form indicates that Reid owns assets valued up to more than $7 million and that he has a personal net worth up of to $10 million. Mr. Reid has never had a high-paying job in his life, and has almost always been employed in the public sector.

Before getting elected to the Senate, Harry Reid was the gaming commissioner for Las Vegas. Which, on paper at least, is not a high paying job. As the Majority Leader of the Senate, he is paid $193,400 annually. So how, exactly, did Reid acquire his multimillion dollar portfolio of real estate and mining interests?

The good news is we don’t have to wait four years to throw Reid out of power. We can do it this November when we give the Republicans a majority in the Senate.

I’m so glad to see the GOP take their gloves off and counterpunch. Even John Boehner called Reid out.

George W. Bush – and Bush senior – never defended themselves effectively from the most egregious and base lies, and Demonicrats got used to the passive GOP style. It exacerbated normal conservative losses, helped the rise of Obamism, and encouraged gross malignancies and perfidies in all of the Lamestream Media.

Well, at least on one level, the spouting of lies from the left is a win-win for them.

If the object of the lies responds, it takes up time for them to “defend” themselves.
If the object of the lies ignores them, they grow legs and become the truth to many.

Thus the left has the childish habit down pat. Tell the lie, repeat it, loudly and often until it becomes the truth. If the target takes the time to defend themselves, it lends credence to the lie. It also distracts from other issues and keeps the minions from paying attention to the pea.

He left out Samuel Jackson’s best and most memorable line.

  3. Enthalpy says:

Being a dirty liar is perhaps one of Harry Reid’s least objectionable qualities. He’s a despicable, dirty liar and more.

    • Petronius says:

Yes, if you took away their lies, what would they have left? Just graft, corruption, double standards, subversion, and Marxist ideology.

  4. untrainable says:

Saying Harry Reid is a “Dirty Liar” is like saying Mr Spock has pointed ears. Yeah, and…? The real news is that the leader of the RNC said it, and stood by it even as he was given a chance to walk it back.

A dirty liar, do you really mean that? I said it didn’t I? (PRICELESS!!)
Finally, someone grew a sack. Now, if we can just set him up with a pair of balls…
