Reuters Hypes Union ‘Rent A Mob’ Rally

From a shameless Reuters:

Union/CPUSA rally

Beck/Palin rally

Big crowd gathers for liberal rally in Washington

By Ayesha Rascoe Sat Oct 2, 2010

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Tens of thousands of people rallied near the Lincoln Memorial in the U.S. capital on Saturday as liberal groups attempted to energize their base a month before pivotal congressional elections.

The rally, held under sunny skies, was billed as "One Nation Working Together" and followed a large rally by conservatives at the same site just over a month earlier.

Richard Trumka, president of the AFL-CIO labor organization, urged the crowd to "promise that you’ll make your voices heard, for good jobs and justice and education today and on Election Day." …

The rally was sponsored by unions, civil rights groups and liberal activists

What Mr. Gibbs so rightly calls, "the professional left."

[W]ho have been struggling to get their messages heard during an election campaign in which media coverage has focused on voter anger over unemployment, a weak economy and government deficits…

The last thing this crowd wants is for "their message" to be heard. Every time liberals run on their "message" they lose.

By the way, the last we checked the "liberal message" is that unemployment, the bad economy and government deficits are all perfectly fine — even desirable. They help achieve ‘social justice.’

Denise Gray-Felder, a spokeswoman for the organizers of the rally, estimated that 175,000 to 200,000 people attended

And Reuters pretends to believe her.

Roxanne Bunnell, a 29-year-old student from Washington, D.C. who attended the rally, said she hoped it would get progressive voters riled up

"Republicans are like dogs — they fight in packs and they’re loyal," Bunnell said while holding a sign that read, "Stop the racist hate, Muslims are welcome here."

Democrats "need to be dogs, we need to pack up and we need to vote … we need to spread that message," she said…

What a beautiful image. What idealism. In fact, this is pretty much the kind of idealism that was expressed by the Hitler Youth just a few short years ago.

"I feel the liberal progressive voice of America has not been heard," said Michelle Ridley, a 39-year-old recruiter for a federal government contractor from Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Ridley said she came out to show support for healthcare reform and Obama…

And her overpaid government job.

Civil rights leader Al Sharpton told the rally crowd — which stretched from the Lincoln Memorial to the end of the National Mall’s Reflecting Pool — to consider the congressional elections a "mid-term exam."

"We’ve got to go home, and we’ve got to hit the pavement. We’ve got to knock on doors. We’ve got to ring that church bell. We’ve got to get ready for the mid-term exam," he said…

What does it tell you when the communist lunatic Richard Trumka and the race-baiting shakedown artist Reverend Sharpton were the two most respectable representatives from this group Reuters could cite.

Looks to me that they are running a picture of the Million Man March as the One Nation Rally. (same count)

    • take_no_prisoners says:

      SG,
You need to post an article with the lead pictures consisting of side by side pictures of these two rallies. It’s an eye opener–of course none of the big media players would dare to do this.

    • TerryAnne says:

      Holy crap, that’s funny!!!!

Yesterday’s rally didn’t even disturb things here in DC, so I knew it had to be small. Looking at the pictures, there were no more than 20,000 there – with most of them likely being locals. Whereas Beck’s rally backed up the Metro and downtown driving, in addition to the fact that people rented buses to drive cross country to be here for it.

      This brightened my day! :)

    • ptat says:

So 400 wacko far left groups sponsored the affair (including the Obama administration)–divde 20,000 at the most by 400—hmmmm, each group brought 50 people, mostly by force…..sad….but, hey, THAT’S SOCIALISM FOR YA’ !

  1. Liberals Demise says:

“Republicans are like dogs — they fight in packs and they’re loyal,”
“Democrats “need to be dogs, we need to pack up………”
Everytime the jackasses pack up they defecate all over the place and turn on one another.

“I feel the liberal progressive voice of America has not been heard.”
Utter bullshiite……….it’s been shoved down our throats and we’ve gagged on it!

“Denise Gray-Felder, a spokeswoman for the organizers of the rally, estimated that 175,000 to 200,000 people attended… ”
    Damn my lying eyes……….again!!
I’ve seen the pictures and you can do a head count from afar.

    “…….consider the congressional elections a “mid-term exam.”
We have and you all FAIL!!!

A Progressive failure and I feel good about our chances for taking back America from the Fruit Loop fringe.
    Hee-Haw!!

“Denise Gray-Felder, a spokeswoman for the organizers of the rally, estimated that 175,000 to 200,000 people attended…”

Thought they stopped tryng to estimate crowd sizes due to some ridiculous reason…unless it’s to trump up the false number of socialist attendees.

    What a crock.

    • proreason says:

check out the pictures of the rally and Beck’s rally posted by SJ in the other news section.

If the SEIU rally had 200,000, then Beck has 2 million.

But in truth, the SEIU rally had 50,000 or less, assuming the picture SJ posted is at peak.

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

Yup, a friend sent a link where I could compare the crowd sizes. It really is funny, in a sick sort of way that in August, a “few thousand” as reported (when reported) by the MSM is so heavily eclipsed by “almost 200,000” of yesterday. HA!

Their lie is so heavily exposed.

I’m thinking that heavy drug use in childhood is really damaging to the ability to think clearly/do basic math in later life by people who come of age to become reporters.

    • tranquil.night says:

You’d think after the immaculation when the Obama-bots were embarassed by how much they trashed the Capital compared to the spotless 9/12 rally that the unions would pay overtime for the astroturf to clean up their mess. But you have a better shot at the lottery than thinking a Liberal narcissist could ever honestly learn to respect anyone or anything else:

      Beck’s rally: http://www.breitbart.tv/national-mall-left-spotless-after-beck-rally/
      1N Rally: http://ironicsurrealism.blogivists.com/2010/10/02/one-nation-rally-trashing-america-photos/

The blogger to whom I linked has some keen insight: whether knowingly or not, they’re celebrating the trashing of America. But I’m with Rusty – probably more a case of too much drug use.

  3. i12354 says:

The liberals on the mall are already behaving like dogs. They needed others to clean up after themselves. Did you see the piles of garbage they left? I guess AFSME & SEIU couldn’t pop for any cans (not that anybody would have used them.

    • proreason says:

The garbage left by the pigs, in contrast to the pristine mall left by the Beck ralliers, is an important marker for the difference between the libwits and Tea Partiers.

Libwits expect to others to take care of them. Unpaid for benfits, affirmative action, free speech for me but not for thee, redistribution, lawsuits for me but not for thee, rich people to pay for everything, work optional, give me health care, pick up my garbage.

Tea Partiers expect to take care of themselves.

And as a side note…..does anybody really think white union thugs are not racist? They are almost certainly the most racist major group in the country.

  4. oldpuppydixie says:

ASTOUNDING dishonesty, even for the MSM!! Using crowd pics from the BECK rally in order to jack up the size of the DISASTROUS turnout of the radical left is pretty bad even for leftists!

  5. Tater Salad says:

We all have to get a kick out of these left wing loons always wrapping the flag around themselves and telling everyone how patriotic they are, YET, there leader is doing this with our veterans:

    • Liberals Demise says:

Being a Combat Marine Veteran, this boils my blood and makes me race for my Second Amendment Rights.
HOW DARE THEY STEP ON THE RIGHTS OF THOSE IN HARMS WAY!!!

      GRRRRRRRRRR…………………….

    • AcornsRNutz says:

      LD,
Semper Fi for starters. But on top of that, I have slightly different take on this article. I think obama should continue to flame the military as much as he can in ways like this for two reasons.
1.) Screwing with our ability to vote won’t get us killed in the way ridiculous mission objectives and ROEs will.
2.) One of these days this guy is going to need the military, all dictators eventually do. If he keeps this up, the military will eventually stop playing ball with his agenda. I am no fan of screwing the military, rest assured, and my pitiful raises and the possible (probable?) cuts to my TRICARE benefits have me nervous enough. But the more bridges this guy burns in his support network the less effective he will be at maintaining a stranglehold on power.

  6. AcornsRNutz says:

Of course they want to believe the liberal agenda is being crowded out in the media etc, these people live on pretending to be the little guy, the underdog, speaking truth to power etc. The irony is they also live under the false impression that everyone thinks as they do. By contrast, the majority of Americans are on the side of conservatism to some degree, and they are all too painfully aware that not everyone thinks as they do. Why? Because it is plastered on every media in the country, both entertainment and news (almost identical).

I have long been amazed at the ignorance the liberal shows at the fact that they claim to be fighting the power while spouting off the exact same tripe they hear in movies, tv shows, newspapers, major news networks, politicians, “scientific” panels (the ones considered acceptable for mass dissemination) and the like. This to me shows the obvious fact that liberalism is at odds with human nature. Humans want to strive for something better against any odds, but these goons lack the willpower to actually do so, so they just pretend. All over the backdrop of a huge support network of media that make it “cool” or “chic” to be a liberal (that ever present liberal safety net). Real Americans don’t care if they are in a majority, but they generally are.

  7. bunnell5 says:

I’ve taken the time to read some of what you have posted and a lot of responses.

I am actually quoted in your article- and as a writer you should know that all of my quote was not put in the paper.

This is Roxanne Bunnell- the 29 year old student, mother and military spouse.

My entire quote was a little different. I said that Republicans are like dogs- they tend to be loyal and stay in packs. The lead dog may not have a clue where he is going but the pack will still follow blindly because independance isn’t a dogs strength.

I then continued on and said that Democrats are like cats. They are independant and choose when and where they will go, regardless of what their master may want.

I then said that Democrats needed to be more like dogs when it comes to loyalty if we are going to fight the Republicans that blindly follow (based on only a couple of hot-button subjects) and “pack up, be loyal and vote” essentially.

It had nothing to do with actually complimenting the hordes of people who blindly follow people like Glenn Beck because he knows how to use a dry erase marker to attempt to put things that don’t belong together.

I love that you compare it to something that would have happened in Hitlers time- because that is the sterotypical thing to do… compare a liberal person to a Nazi. Yes- it makes totaly sense?! I’ve also seen the Republicans call Obama a facist, socialist communist because OBVIOUSLY all of those things are just like the other… it’s almost like Becks board :)

Your blog is pretentious and tends to attract people that might be educated but lost their vision. If you’re going to try to unite people do so behind facts, not fiction. This kind of hatred spewed out of the mouths of people who are very one-sided is what is dividing this country.

Be part of the solution- because right now your writings are part of the problem.

I’m SURE you’ll have a field day with this- but I won’t be back to your site. I honestly never even heard of it before my friend googled my name and sent me a link.

By the way, I think us “crazy liberals” will be out in hordes for the rally on the 30th.

If you would have come to the event you would have met lots of people who were bused in from all around the country- my step-mom flew in from Chicago and one of the other women quoted, Betsy Daly had taken a bus in from NC. Fact check- it’s a wonderful thing.

    • proreason says:

      You’re a WRITER.

      Who could have guessed it.

    • Petronius says:

Thank you, Roxanne, for elucidating the comrades’ point of view.

There seems to be a strong correlation between left-wing opinions and difficulty with the English language, wouldn’t you agree?

Also, may I inquire whether a commitment to Marxism is incompatible with use of disyllabic vocabulary?

In addition to your rudimentary diction, your grammar, spelling, and punctuation are all in need of correction. This may seem bourgeois pedantry, but if you plan to organize revolution you’ll have to convince the intelligent and educated as well as the gullible and ignorant. Also, it might be worthwhile if you were to develop a prose style which isn’t a mixture of Bolshevik jargon, Toni Morrison novels, and scripts from “The Dog Whisperer.”

By the way, “hatred spewed out of the mouths of people” is a somewhat intemperate, if imaginative, turn of phrase. The verb “spew” means to expel or pour out rapidly and forcibly large quantities of something tangible, such as smoke, gas, or a liquid or semi-liquid substance. Thus Vesuvius may “spew” streams of lava during an eruption. Or Old Tom Jefferson may “spew” bodily fluids hither and yon while on his nightly romp through the slave quarters at Monticello. However, the word can’t properly be used to describe conservative political writings –– all the more so since none of us here at S&L have acquired the knack of writing posts with our mouths.

Best wishes in your college career.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention –– I am given to understand that the electrification of Moscow should be completed any day now. What joy that will bring you.
