U.S. air strike kills 47 civilians: official

By Mohammad Rafiq Fri Jul 11

JALALABAD, Afghanistan (Reuters) – A U.S. coalition force air strike on Sunday killed 47 civilians, including 39 women and children, in the eastern province of Nangarhar, an Afghan official said on Friday.

The issue of civilian casualties is an emotive one in Afghanistan, feeding a common perception international forces do not take enough care when launching air strikes, and undermining support for their continued presence in the country.

Residents and officials had earlier told reporters that 23 people were killed, when aircraft bombed a convoy bringing a bride to her new husband’s village in Nangarhar.

The U.S. military released a statement after the incident saying there were no civilians in the area and that they had been targeting a large group of militants…

Sigh. Another day and another ‘wedding party’ bombed by the dastardly US military.

Or rather another report from our watchdog media quoting anonymous sources. Sources, who if he isn’t simply made up may very well be with the Taliban.

Of course we will never see any photographs of these civilians. At best we will see "middle aged" boys, who look remarkably like the rank and file Taliban.

But that doesn’t stop our "journalists" from running the story and blaring the headline. Nor will they retract their claims if the US definitely proves that it’s a pack of lies, as they have done before.

After all, our media have their job to do — which is to lose the war in Iraq — for their Democrat masters.

And now that things in Iraq have taken such an undeniable turn for the better, they are pulling out all the stops in Afghanistan.

Not that they ever held back before.
