RNC: Obama Is The ‘Real Outsourcer-In-Chief’

From the New York Times:

Republican Web Site Points to Obama as ‘Real Outsourcer-in-Chief’

July 10, 2012

The Republican National Committee is accusing President Obama of sending taxpayer dollars overseas to finance jobs in other countries at the expense of American workers at home.

On a new Web site announced by Reince Priebus, the group’s chairman, early Tuesday morning, the committee says the president wasted billions of dollars that should have been spent in America and says that the spending makes Mr. Obama “the real outsourcer-in-chief.”

The move is part of an effort to go on the offensive after attacks from Mr. Obama’s campaign on Bain Capital, the private equity firm that Mitt Romney founded. The president’s aides said the company was a “pioneer” in outsourcing U.S. jobs to low-wage countries…

Which is a lie that has been debunked countless times, even by the Washington Post. But The Times can’t be bothered to note that.

“Your taxpayers $ going to Finland, Korea, China? Watch our trailer video,” Mr. Priebus wrote, adding a link to a “coming soon” video trailer that led to a not-yet-available Web [sic] site, ObamanomicsOutsourced.com.

The web site is available.

Responding quickly to Mr. Priebus even before the Web site was available, Stephanie Cutter, Mr. Obama’s deputy campaign manager, posted on Twitter: “Pres. Obama knows America benefits from insourcing. Mitt Romney personally benefitted from companies that outsource.”

Which is another lie that has debunked, repeatedly.

Ms. Cutter linked to a document that defended Mr. Obama’s record on protecting American jobs.

“President Obama has fought continuously to end tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas, fostered incentives for companies to bring jobs back to America and doubled the rate of trade enforcement actions we’ve taken against China to ensure an even playing field for American workers,” the document says

As even the Washington Post has been forced to admit, Obama’s efforts have not worked: "According to a study by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, large American companies in 2010 barely added any workers in the United States, increasing their numbers by 0.1 percent, while they expanded their foreign workforce by 1.5 percent."

The [GOP’s] teaser video says that Mr. Obama “shipped the recovery overseas,” and shows a moving red dot that ends up in China. The video then says the president has “a record of failure spanning the globe” and lists nearly two dozen countries, including Switzerland, Mexico, Vietnam, Russia, Germany, El Salvador and Indonesia.

Once at the Web site, visitors are told that most of the money Mr. Obama sent to those countries came from the stimulus funds that the president pushed through Congress at the beginning of his term.

“As he racked up trillions in new debt, billions of dollars did go to create jobs that were outsourced or spent overseas,” the Web site says.

“Whether it is electric cars made in Finland or solar panels in Mexico, taxpayers would be astonished to learn that their hard-earned money went abroad for jobs that weren’t created in the United States.”

Notice that even The Times does not claims that any of these points are untrue.

Among the examples cited:

The Republican National Committee says that “nearly half” of a $2.4 billion stimulus program to help support battery production went to foreign firms, including two South Korean companies “that used their awards to hire foreign nationals in Michigan to do work that Americans easily could have done.”

The Republicans say that $8.5 billion in grants for wind farms went overseas, “creating thousands of jobs overseas with money that was supposed to create jobs within the United States.”

The Web site says that $880 million in clean-energy manufacturing tax credits went to foreign firms.

The Republican National Committee says that the largest recipient of Mr. Obama’s loan guarantee program for green energy projects was Abengoa, a Spanish company which received $2.7 billion in guarantees.

Note how The Times prefaces each citation with “the Republican National Committee says.”

The Web site gives very little backing for the charges, offering no citations to public documents or to news media reports about the allegations

They are easy enough to confirm. In fact, they are all news items that The Times should have reported on, if they were in the business of journalism. But they aren’t.

By contrast, the document provided by Ms. Cutter provides detailed links to news articles for each point.

Hilarious. What media bias?

The document notes, for example, that a section of the stimulus program prohibits money from going to renewable energy properties that are “used predominantly outside of the United States.” The document includes citations to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the U.S. Treasury

There, you see? Obama’s stimulus program prohibited money from going outside the US. So we must have imagined all of those billions from the stimulus going overseas.

What does the RNC plan to accomplish here? Had those overseas funds been spent in the U.S. the rate of jobs would have been lower? They are giving me the impression they(RNC) would have spent the tax payer funds in a much smarter way. Instead of telling people the funds should have never existed in the first place to send ANY, THING, ANY, WHERE! That money was earned by people that should have been allowed to keep it thereby providing jobs through investment in ourselves.

You’re correct that it never should have been spent but we’re in a deadly struggle for the very life of our country here. Odds are if McLame was in the Oval Office I doubt if we would have had the stupid “Stimulus” in the first place. No Cash for Clunkers or any other wasteful programs designed to funnel money to the unions and back into the Dems coffers. GM and Chrysler would have had to file bankruptcy and reorganize. Ford managed to turn it around without government help, they should have too, and if they couldn’t, they shouldn’t be in business.

The evil bastard in the White House needs to go. Romney is not my first choice but it’s who we’re going to have come this fall so unless you want to give Barry the Bungler 4 more years to complete his mission of turning our great country into a third world sh*thole it’s who we have to back.

We need to spread the word to the uninitiated and ignorant out there that believe everything they see on the tube or read on the Internet about what’s really going on. Nothing else matters. Getting rid of the cancer in Washington and his minions is the first step. After cutting the tumor out, next we need some chemo or radiation treatments like getting rid of the EPA and repealing OholeCare but we have to do the first step first and vote his ass out.

It’s going to be a long summer.
