Rush Is OK, Nothing Wrong With Heart

From a surely relieved Associated Press:

Limbaugh: Tests show no ailments after chest pain

By Mark Niesse, Associated Press Writer

HONOLULU – Conservative talk radio show host Rush Limbaugh said Friday that tests show nothing wrong with his heart after chest pains hospitalized him earlier this week.

Limbaugh said at a Honolulu news conference that he was being released from The Queen’s Medical Center, where he was rushed Wednesday during a vacation. Doctors said he did not have a heart attack or heart disease.

"The pain was real, and they don’t know what caused it," Limbaugh said.

Asked whether he was taking painkillers, Limbaugh said no…

Limbaugh couldn’t resist a few political comments in the short press conference at the hospital. He said he got the best health treatment in the world "right here in the United States of America."

"I don’t think there’s one thing wrong with the United States health system," Limbaugh said…

Great news.

And how kind of our journalists to be so concerned about Mr. Limbaugh’s use of pain killers.

An update from the man himself, via his website:

A Message from Rush to His Listeners

January 1, 2010

To my listeners,

Thank you for your prayers and good thoughts over the past several days. Today, I am leaving Queens Hospital in Honolulu, feeling strong and rested. I offer my deepest thanks to the staff and administration there, who provided excellent care and supervision.

I’m going to take several days of rest over this weekend and the early part of next week, and will be back on the radio with you sometime next week, taking the advice of so many of you to rest and fully recover.

I wish each and every one of you a Happy New Year in 2010!

With great thanks for your support and love,

Rush Limbaugh

More good news.

    From TMZ.com:

    Rush Limbaugh: I’m A-Okay!
Posted Jan 1st 2010 4:25PM by TMZ Staff

Rush Limbaugh just addressed the media in Hawaii where he told reporters he did undergo an angioplasty, but he’s doing just fine.

He did not suffer a heart attack or any kind of coronary episode and test show nothing wrong.

Limbaugh was hospitalized Wednesday night after experiencing chest pains.

Limbaugh made it a point to thank the staff of the hotel he was staying at, the Kahala Hotel and Resort, and he proclaimed (several times) the U.S. has the best health care service in the world.

He called the outpouring of support from fans very “humbling.”

TMZ, where they had a poll as to whether Mr. Limbaugh should get well or not.

And where the posters sounded like rabid hyenas.

    • Melly says:

      Yes Steve.
TMZ is classless; however it usually is first in breaking news – even Drudge links to it on occasion, as you know.
I wasn’t going to mention that poll, but since you brought it up – here’s the link to the poll so if anyone here wants to show their support for Rush, they can wish him well by clicking on it, among other things..
TMZ is run by unethical, jealous, callous, crude people in my opinion, but I admit I click on the site to see what’s going on in the entertainment world – I am flawed.

Here’s the link to the poll (it’s still open) – they reposted it b/c it’s getting a lot of attention:

Damn that reporter at the end.

    No good SOB.

  3. jobeth says:

First I am thrilled Rush is fine and they found clear vessels around his heart. Great news.

But what has his past back pain (and meds) got to do with his current medical situation? (rhetorical…nothing) Just a gotcha question that didn’t work.

They just can’t resist can they? But what a non-surprise it was that they did ask such an asinine question.

But, count on Rush to put them in their place with a direct answer. Something I’m sure they are not used to. He even chuckled about it as he walked away.

I had to laugh myself. You go Rush!

  4. BigOil says:

Great news. Note how Rush demonstrates class by praising those that helped him.

How long will it be until the left-wing nutroots begin claiming Rush faked his chest pains? My guess is it will take a Manhattan minute.

    • neocon mom says:

      Happy New Year Everyone!

“How long will it be until the left-wing nutroots begin claiming Rush faked his chest pains? My guess is it will take a Manhattan minute.”

My thoughts exactly. But I’m just so happy that Rush seems to be doing great!

  5. Howard Roark says:

It was great to see Rush deliver the good news.

What an appropriate commentary on the state of American journalism and health care. Typically, the soulless jackals in the press perform to their level of maturity, serving to eclipse the true meaning of this episode-the last gasping breaths of an American health care system as it serves us better than any other.

  6. LewWaters says:

Rush said he’s using Predisone now for his back. A possible side effect of Predisone is chest pain.

The good news is Rush is okay and his heart is strong, and as we all know, where it belongs.

  7. U NO HOO says:

I’m not jumping on Rush’s band wagon.

I had similar, but not as severe, pains as Rush a few years ago. No heart attack and no diagnosis of the cause, the pain stopped and that was it. Nothing similar since. Arteries were OK. Good to know.

Chest pains happen w/o heart attacks, so, to Rush detractors, RUSH WASN’T FAKING.

(It would be stupid and counter productive for Rush to bring faked attention to himself for obviously no good reason.)

    Welcome home Rush.

  8. joeblough says:

May rush enjoy a loooooooooooong and happy life.

    He’s one of our best.

    A human national treasure.

A happy new year to Rush and everyone at S&L.

  9. GetBackJack says:

You just know there’s a rabid vile dog of a Leftie out there with a Rush Limbuagh doll and a hatpin …

  10. ThreeBus says:

Glad to see you healthy and happy Rush.
Take care of yourself and be well.

A partial list of chest pain causes that are diagnosable within hours, if not minutes:

    1. Myocardial infarction.
    2. Pericarditis.
    3. Aneurysm.
    4. Mediastinitis.
    5. Pleuritis.
    6. Pneumonia.
    7. Pulmonary embolus.
    8. Pneumothorax.
    9. Rib fracture.

A partial list of causes that are more difficult to diagnose and sometimes missed:

    1. Coronary spasm.
    2. Esophageal spasm.
    3. Gastroesophageal reflux.

A partial list of causes that are common, easy to diagnose but often overlooked and close to incurable:

    1. Liberals.

I’ve heard hemorrhoids are also a side effect of liberals.

A couple quotes from one who was at least as hated as Rush.

A man is not finished when he is defeated. He is finished when he quits.

Always remember that others may hate you but those who hate you don’t win unless you hate them. And then you destroy yourself.

Any change is resisted because bureaucrats have a vested interest in the chaos in which they exist.

Castro couldn’t even go to the bathroom unless the Soviet Union put the nickel in the toilet.

Don’t get the impression that you arouse my anger. You see, one can only be angry with those he respects.

I can take it. The tougher it gets, the cooler I get.

If an individual wants to be a leader and isn’t controversial, that means he never stood for anything.

If we take the route of the permanent handout, the American character will itself be impoverished.

If you want to make beautiful music, you must play the black and the white notes together.

Life isn’t meant to be easy. It’s hard to take being on the top – or on the bottom. I guess I’m something of a fatalist. You have to have a sense of history, I think, to survive some of these things… Life is one crisis after another.

Never let your head hang down. Never give up and sit down and grieve. Find another way. And don’t pray when it rains if you don’t pray when the sun shines.

Once you get into this great stream of history, you can’t get out.

The Cold War isn’t thawing; it is burning with a deadly heat. Communism isn’t sleeping; it is, as always, plotting, scheming, working, fighting.

There are some people, you know, they think the way to be a big man is to shout and stomp and raise hell-and then nothing ever really happens. I’m not like that I never shoot blanks.

Tonight – to you, the great silent majority of my fellow Americans – I ask for your support.

  13. JohnMG says:

…..”And don’t pray when it rains if you don’t pray when the sun shines……”

This quote is attributable to Satchel Paige.

Having one tonight in NY after a couple hrs of slashing thru tourists to show the tree to the family.

If you must have one from a bartender, ask for it to be stirred, not shaken (that 007! no way Ian Fleming ever had a proper drink).

  15. GetBackJack says:

    On the fantail?

  16. Reality Bytes says:

    OK – let’s review.

10 oz of Beefeater gin (old school no substitutions!)
1/2 oz French sweet vermouth (trust me – there’s a method to this madness)
1 danish modern martini pitcher (swedish is an acceptable substitution)
pour said gin into said pitcher – allow to settle (while you clip & trim your Avo maduro or equal)
With matching glass stirrer (no substitutions) create a slow swirl of content while pouring in vermouth
Fire up aforemention cigar rolling it while lighting for an even burn, hold on pallette while inhaling aroma through your nose – release smoke still savoring its fine craftsmanship

Now here’s the hard part: Place pitcher into freezer – DO NOT DRINK FROM IT UNTIL TOMORROW EVENING.

REDEMPTIVE STEP: Remove typically prepared pitcher you performed yesterday from freezer – pour into chilled 12 oz martini glass to approximately 1/4″ from rim – insert two olives NO PIMENTOS (although I have done this with a stuffed stilton blue cheese olive).

    Relocate cigar to oversized ashtray – (clean to the point of sparkling) – hoist with fore & thumb fingers around basin (for proper control) bring to lips and…….;

SIP – don’t forget to intake air while sipping to avoid hyperventilation.

Place on coaster near ashtray – inhale review the day & thank the LORD you are alive….and for gracing you with the mind of a conservative.

    Bottoms Up!

The incompetent US doctors couldn’t find out what caused the pain. He better hop on his private jet and head to Havana where they have the best health care in the world. I’m sure the Cuban doctors can give him a more accurate diagnosis. And it’s free too.

The news just wouldn’t bring up Obama’s long history of drug use. They should have done a brain scan on him, to see he only has the “I, I, I, ” left.
