How many *hundreds* if not approaching a thousand federal district, circuit and appeals judge seats sat open for EIGHT years of Bush because the Democrats successfully resisted his efforts to “seed the judiciary” with conservatives?
I wonder how many hundreds of seats the Republicans will fight tooth and nail to keep open for the entirety of the Obama administration? Of course there are the other issues of the day, like tax cuts, the patriot act, etc that the Democrats allowed to be passed with sunset clauses. How many laws will the Republicans insist on passing as temporary laws that expire at the end of the Obama administration? I for one would prefer if any CAFE standards or environmental acts that are passed have expiration dates.

First, I wish Ruth Ginsberg the best of luck with her cancer battle. It’s a tough disease and I do not revel at all in the misfortune of anyone, not even those who hold polar opposite political views from mine.

Having established that, this is the person I opposed the most being on the supreme court. I find her desire to legalize prostitution nationally and lower the age of consent to 12 as particularly vile. I also remember that when Clinton nominated her the republicans approved her quickly.

I hope that Obama does not get the chance to replace any federal judges. However, if he does I pray that the republicans in congress remember how to filibuster. What’s good for the goose…

Yeah, it definitely isn’t a good cancer to have. I have known two people with pancreatic cancer and neither of them lived long after diagnosis. With Obama and company running Amateur Hour in the White House, I shudder to think who might be foisted upon the public as a replacement justice.

All those Republicans who didn’t cast a ballot this election in order to “teach America a lesson” are about to be themselves taught a lesson. It isn’t much different from the one the Sunnis learned in Iraq a few years ago.

Maybe it’s just me, but she always LOOKS LIKE she has pancreatic cancer! Either that, or she always looks like she is just about to vomit.

Over the years, I have been fairly angry at liberal judges on the Supreme Court, but I am also afraid of heavy handed conservatives as well. The police-state has been growing because of them, not liberals. I prefer a balanced court, but I can’t believe I am saying it. Since Bush took office, I have been more afraid of my government than ever. More “security” equals less rights, which means you are not a citizen, you are a slave.

Basically, both sides have people we should be afraid of. I don’t like this woman that much, but I hope she recovers.

There seems to be an epidemic of pancreatic cancer cases lately. One of my coworkers and another of my coworker’s mother were recently diagnosed. Then there’s Patrick Swayze, who is still fighting it. The survival rate is not good: less than 4% of pancreatic cancer patients survive for 5 years after diagnosis. I looked up other famous people who died from it: (1) Lucianno Pavarotti, (2) Jack Benny, (3) Michael Landon, (4) Fred Gwynne, (5) Donna Reed, (6) Rex Harrison, (7) Fernando Lamas, (8) Richard Crenna, and (9) Joan Crawford.

I wish Justice Ginsberg a speedy recovery, despite the odds.

I like the odds of 5 new ones better than the 5 we have already. It’s possible that one will pull a Souter or Kennedy and turn out differently than advertised.

At least one new appointee will be black and probably a chicano as well. There will be pressure on the Moron to avoid JJ and Rev Al types, so maybe we would get one who has been a closet moderate.

On an unrelated front, I wonder if Angelina Jolie will return my phones calls today.
