Saddam’s Tariq Aziz Is Sentenced To Hang

From a surely conflicted Associated Press:

Saddam aide Tariq Aziz sentenced to hang

By Hamid Ahmed And Barbara Surk, Associated Press
October 26, 2010

BAGHDAD – Saddam Hussein’s longtime foreign minister, Tariq Aziz, was sentenced to death by hanging Tuesday for persecuting members of Shiite religious parties under the former regime.

Iraqi High Tribunal spokesman Mohammed Abdul-Sahib did not say when Aziz, 74, would be put to death.

Aziz has 30 days to launch an appeal. If the Appeals’ Court upholds the death sentence, the law says Aziz should be hung within 30 days of the final decision. The Iraqi president also needs to sign off on an execution order.

We can only wonder if our media masters, such as the New York Times, will mount an around the clock "Save Aziz" campaign, like they did back in December of 2006, to try to save Saddam Hussein from hanging.

Aziz, a Christian who became the international face of Saddam’s regime, was in court on Tuesday…

We may have our answer. Since Mr. Aziz is a purported Christian, The Times and the rest of our watchdog media will probably take a hands off attitude.

A fluent English speaker and the only Christian in the senior leadership of Saddam’s mainly Sunni regime, Aziz became internationally known as the dictator’s defender and a fierce critic of the United States both as foreign minister after Iraq’s 1990 invasion of Kuwait and later as a deputy prime minister who frequently traveled abroad on diplomatic missions.

Come to think of it, the pious Iraqis are probably hanging him as much for his supposed Christianity as anything else.

Though, to be fair, they don’t have the same deep seated animus against Christians that the New York Times does.

Leave it to the Vatican to try to save this murdering POS…

Vatican Tries To Save Tariq Aziz

Vatican spokesman, Fr. Federico Lombardi, asked today that Iraq not carry out the death sentence on former Iraqi Foreign Minister Tariq Aziz.

…the impression certainly is that Aziz has gotten Vatican attention because he’s a Christian (and was the only one in Saddam Hussein’s cabinet).

Like hell he’s a Christian! The article goes on to mention Tariq Aziz’s close relationship with some Italian Franciscan priests.

Lombardi’s statement did not mention that Aziz was a Christian, but said not executing him would be a way to helping Iraq towards peace and reconconciliation.

Oh well there you go then. That makes it okay.

    …and that

“some conservative Catholics argued that Saddam Hussein’s unique situation might have proved an exception to that teaching.

Might have? Ya think? Yup. Count on the Vatican to assist Nazis by sheltering them and secreting them to Argentina, coddle incorrigible pederasts, vote in Benedict and John Paul II, both of whom took part in WWII ridding the world of Jews, Christians, Slavs, defectives and other assorted untermensch.

And Ratzinger was the head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith AKA the same wonderful folks of heresay watchers who brought you The Inquisitions (in all its forms.)

[A person nod to Ad Exec Jerry Della Femina who came up with the title ‘From those Wonderful Folks Who Brought You Pearl Harbour’ – the quintessential book on people in the advertising business – long before the TV series came out.]

“A self-styled “publicity slut,” Della Femina made headlines for colorful comments throughout his career. His 1971 book From Those Wonderful Folks Who Gave You Pearl Harbor was a best-seller. The title refers to a tongue-in cheek slogan proposed for the client Panasonic during a brainstorming session.”

Ya know those machines in Nevada that are rigged to vote for Hairy Reed? Same thing is happening in N. Carolina:

One fellow caught the problem and went straight to the media. I wonder how many others didn’t catch on?

Don’t forget Saddam Hussein argued that even Jesus forgives. “even?” What? Jesus fail short because he’s not Allah who orders chopping heads & stoning people over a woman accused of batting an eyelash or walking alone?

That new Supreme Justice Hagen Kagen (sp?) voted against Arizona a man being executed. He was a former convicted & jailed child predator who “admitted” kidnapping a 9 year old girl, raping her for days, and burying her alive, and she died in a garbage bag. I mean he admitted it, and had to be have protection in prison $$$. But, then Obama voted no
on laws to crack down on child predators because his Trinity Rev Wright church ministered to sex-offenders.
And with Obama’s muslim family history marrying and raping young girls, and Rev Wright being a former muslim, etc.

Don’t get me wrong. I do not take the death penalty lightly do to corruption, but when someone admits, or they commit the crimes of Saddam, Hitler, & those that wished to have a seat at dinner with them, I have no problem. It’s more humane than torture.
