Saudis Warn US Over Cutting Aid To Egypt Military

From CNS News:

Saudis Warn the West: We Won’t Forget Your Stance on Egypt, Muslim Brotherhood

By Patrick Goodenough | August 20, 2013

(CNSNews.com) – In a blunt warning to countries critical of the Egyptian military crackdown and considering suspending aid, longstanding U.S. ally Saudi Arabia suggested that the decisions they make now will have long-term consequences for their relationships in the Arab and Muslim world…

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal issued a lengthy statement Monday defending the military’s actions and informing countries that have threatened to withdraw aid that Arab and Muslim countries “will not hesitate to help Egypt.”

“As you [Western countries] enjoy security, calm and stability, do not consider them as too much for us.” …

Of course, this raises the question as to why the Saudis haven’t been aiding Egypt all along, if it is so much in their national interest?

In the statement, released through the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Faisal said such attitudes “will not be forgotten by Arab and Muslim world.”

Those who condemn the Egyptian crackdown and believe “flimsy propaganda” will not be viewed as acting in good faith or out of ignorance, “but we will consider them as hostile attitudes against the interests of the Arab and Islamic nations and their stability.”

“Let those states that are taking negative stances know that the blaze and destruction will not be confined to Egypt, but will affect all those who supported trouble,” he said.

"Trouble"? How can anything called ‘The Arab Spring’ be trouble?

Asked at a press briefing Monday whether the Obama administration thought Faisal was referring to the United States in his comments, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said she could not “speculate on that.” …

“We’ll make our own decisions here, based on our own national security interests, our own concerns about regional stability. And that review is ongoing.” …

Whew. Thank goodness we have such highly qualified people at the helm.

Riyadh’s outspoken support for the military’s actions reflect its deep-rooted antipathy for the Muslim Brotherhood, a sentiment shared with the other Gulf states – with the notable exception of Qatar…

Which is run by the people who give us Al Jazeera.

Between them, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE quickly pledged a total of $12 billion to the military-installed interim government – eclipsing the $1.5 billion in military and other assistance Egypt receives from the U.S. each year.

Again, why haven’t the Saudis and the rest of the Gulf states  been aiding Egypt all along, if it is so much in their national interest?

Still, this also means that we are losing that much more influence in the Middle East. After all the blood and treasure we have poured into the region.

After last week’s bloodshed in Cairo, [the Saudis' King] Abdullah issued a strong-worded statement of support for the interim government and military’s fight “against terrorism.” …

“Let it be known to those who interfered in Egypt’s internal affairs that they themselves are fanning the fire of sedition and are promoting the terrorism which they call for fighting.” …

Hmmm. Who could he possibly be talking about? (Hint: Obama.)

It would be so nice to cut ties to the middle east. Drill our own oil and deal with Canada.

Even a kid knows that trying to get along with nations that are fundamentally and diametrically opposed to everything you hold as normal is a fool’s errand.

When oil was first discovered there, I’m certain there were those who said that dealing with the owners of the real estate is all kinds of stupid. At first, things went sort of ok but it didn’t take long before the money coming into the area from the West resulted in violence. I had just left Libya as a seven-year-old when Ghadaffi blew up the BOAC airliners, one of which I had been on just weeks before.

The one thing you can never do with barbarians is give them money. They already have reason enough to kill, which is that you simply exist being the primary one, but by giving them wealth, you only ask for trouble.

They don’t like us, they in fact hate us.
    They don’t trust us
They despise everything we stand for
They would prefer we all just die
They have set forth in motion the means to do just that

Meanwhile, our elected officials, hobbled by the inbred notions of “tolerance” and “fairness” can’t seem to pull their heads out of their butts long enough to recognize that the United States is under continual attack by the most disgusting form of humanity to emerge since the middle ages. And, actually, it’s a continuation of that same fight.

Perhaps we deserve it; Our need for oil has resulted in financing jihad. Perhaps it was inevitable. Of course, it’s laden with irony and hypocrisy but that kind of goes without saying.

But we’re in a phase of history now where they want to remain muslim and reject everything Western. Still, they have cellphones and TV and cars and all that. They can’t repair them or even understand how they work (that’s for “infidels” to do) but they sure like having them.

They have instituted a very odd round-robin society. They demand to have Mercedes cars, Gulfstream jets and mega-yachts…all built and maintained by—-infidels. Yet they can’t see the irony there. In our own society, it’s the snot-nosed rich puke who has more money than god who can’t get to his club meeting because his lackey failed to put gas in his Bimmer.

And Iran’s embracing of nuclear power….capitalizing on work done by physicists in the 1940’s…99% of whom were *gasp* Jewish.

Seems to me they should truly and completely reject the West in the most pure sense of it. That would leave us with a happier planet and they can just fight amongst themselves for all eternity.

      The feeling is mutual.

  3. The $$$ Saudi Arabia has our dollars to begin with .. us, and Britain. We set them up through ARAMCO and then sent our dollars overseas to them instead of keeping the $$ at home through domestic oil.

Either cough up the money yourselves, Princes, or we come and take back our money. Since you’ve a pathetic military.
