SEALs Face Charges For Hitting Terrorist

From Fox News:

Navy SEALs Face Assault Charges for Capturing Most-Wanted Terrorist

By Rowan Scarborough

Tuesday , November 24, 2009

Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And three of the SEALs who captured him are now facing criminal charges, sources told FoxNews.com.

The three, all members of the Navy’s elite commando unit, have refused non-judicial punishment — called an admiral’s mast — and have requested a trial by court-martial.

Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named "Objective Amber," told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.

Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.

Matthew McCabe, a Special Operations Petty Officer Second Class (SO-2), is facing three charges: dereliction of performance of duty for willfully failing to safeguard a detainee, making a false official statement, and assault.

Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe, SO-2, is facing charges of dereliction of performance of duty and making a false official statement.

Petty Officer Julio Huertas, SO-1, faces those same charges and an additional charge of impediment of an investigation…

Lt. Col. Holly Silkman, spokeswoman for the special operations component of U.S. Central Command, confirmed Tuesday to FoxNews.com that three SEALs have been charged in connection with the capture of a detainee. She said their court martial is scheduled for January…

The four Blackwater agents were transporting supplies for a catering company when they were ambushed and killed by gunfire and grenades. Insurgents burned the bodies and dragged them through the city. They hanged two of the bodies on a bridge over the Euphrates River for the world press to photograph.

Intelligence sources identified Abed as the ringleader, but he had evaded capture until September…

A “bloody lip”? Mr. Ahmed Hashim Abed is lucky he was not simply killed on the spot.

Let’s hope they Mirandized the gentleman.

Of course this should come as now surprise, given that Mr. Obama.

He owes his job to the America-hating Daily Kos founder, Markos Moulitsas (whose pro-Communist parents came here as political refugees).

And, as we have noted often before, Mr. Moulitsas celebrated the brutal murder of these contractors:

Every death should be on the front page (2.70 / 40)

Let the people see what war is like. This isn’t an Xbox game. There are real repercussions to Bush’s folly.

That said, I feel nothing over the death of merceneries [sic]. They aren’t in Iraq because of orders, or because they are there trying to help the people make Iraq a better place. They are there to wage war for profit. Screw them.

As the article notes, these contractors were helping food be delivered.

Whether this kid-gloves-and-zero-tolerance policy originated with the ACLU, Tigellinus-Holder, or Nerobama himself is unimportant. In any case, the order must have been issued by the President in his role as CINC to the SECDEF, and passed down the military chain.

The questions I have for Liberals are: What is the Liberal rationale behind this policy? And whose interest is being served?

Seven possible explanations occur to me. I rank them from least likely to most likely, as follows:

    1. Liberals believe our enemies would like us better if we were only nicer to them.

    2. We have to be true to our Liberal values even if it kills us (or rather, even if it kills the Navy SEALS and our other fighting men, or American civilians, few of whom are Liberals).

    3. The alleged misconduct, which is so completely contradictory to the ethos of the American fighting man, suggests that the Navy SEALS were suffering from PTSD or similar mental illnesses, such that –– as in the case of Army MAJ Nidal Malik Hasan –– the insanity defense has to be the only acceptable explanation.

    4. Mistreatment of Muslim terrorists –– even the most minor mistreatment –– violates a so-far-unidentified international treaty or convention to which Islamic jihadists are a party signatory in good standing.

    5. Liberals are sticklers for military discipline, and military discipline requires precise soldierly conduct and strict obedience to orders (even to foolish orders) under all conditions and without exception.

    6. It is White House blowback for the SEALS who exceeded the White House’s strictly limited ROE when they killed the Somali pirates and rescued the Maersk Captain.

    7. It is a form of madness –– a triumph of the Liberal Death Wish –– i,e., the cold, deep, and bitter resentment harbored by Liberals for Western Civilization in all of its manifestations, by which Liberals eagerly embrace and make common cause with the enemies of our civilization, whoever they may be.

Explanations #6 and 7 are the only ones that make sense to me.

As for the second part of my question –– whose interest is being served? –– there is only one answer: enemies of America and the West.

However, I will keep an open mind. There may be some other explanation that does not fit squarely within one of these seven possibilities. If so, perhaps there is some hopey-changey Liberal nitwit out there who can explain it to me?

    Romanus orbis ruit.

He is damned lucky the SEALS didn’t split him wide open instead of his lip and strung him up for the buzzards to pick at.
It is my firm belief that Mr. Abed became uncooperative and met a rifle butt to the kisser for his effort.
Personally, I think they should have rearranged the brain locker group some more. Just for being a piss ant jihadist!

To my friends at SEAL Team 6

  3. sheehanjihad says:

To all active duty Military men and women: Apparently, the jihadist enemy combatants have been given the legal rights and due process that used to be afforded American citizens.

For whatever reason this mind numbing insanity has been embraced by your superiors, remember, in this case, YOU are considered the enemy, and doing the job you were trained to do may result in your being arrested and tried for a crime.

I would encourage all who are in combat….do NOT take any prisoners for whatever reason. To do so now may result in your career being jeopardized as well as your freedom.

It may take a while, but this abomination will be exposed for the absolutely mind numbing lunacy that it is, and it will be changed….as soon as your ranks are purged of those who consider a terrorist’s rights trump your ability to prosecute your duty.

So, as a matter of prudence, and to make absolutely sure that your rules of engagement dont conflict with the constitutional rights of Islamic foreign terrorists and jihadist murderers, simply dont allow them, the actual enemy any chance to file a charge against you.

I hope that all of you take heed to what is happening to you….and do what is necessary to prevent our own government from expecting you to do your duty, and then putting you in the brig for it.

Stop taking prisoners. Dead jihadists cant talk. A simple solution to the rock and the hard place your leaders have put you in. They are the cowards. You are the soldiers. Work on keeping us free there, and we will work on keeping you free from your enemies here. Good luck.

    • Right of the People says:

Like Dirty Harry Callahan said, “No trial, no reports to file.”

Kill ’em all, let Allah sort them out.

  4. AConcernedCitizen says:

When I first saw the headline yesterday, I was hoping they were getting a court martial for not bringing back a dead body. Nope, its for giving a known terrorist a fat lip. Ridiculous…

  5. VMAN says:

So what’s the answer to all this? Shoot them because they were trying to escape.

    • Liberals Demise says:

      That’s the ticket, VMAN!
      They’re “ALL” trying to escape.

Enough with the double jeopardy crap and the political “Statis Quo” from this regime.

  6. take_no_prisoners says:

Yes, the lesson here is to shoot first, second, third—and forth, and ask questions later. Better a dead terrorist than one who lives to testify in New York, or Virginia. If you’re going to undergo a court-martial, better to have the satisfaction of knowing the bad guy is dead–rather than endure his taunting smirk at your trial!

  7. Tater Salad says:

Lets face it Americans, we have a traitor amongst us and he is our President. We are going to have to fix this some how. Has He even read The Manchester Documents” that were taken from an Al-Qaeda operative in England which should be real clear where Muslim and Christians stand before each other. They hate us and will kill us just because we are NON-Muslims! Period!

  8. canary says:

Who made this decision ? It fits the growing pattern of rewarding the corrupt politicans and thugs running the country. The comforting of terrorists. Worse than just the adminstration having an Enron party.

  9. jrmcdonald says:

Perhaps the Secret Service detail might reconsider stopping any incomming rounds… you don’t want to be charged with violating someone’s freedom of expression.

  10. pdsand says:

As I’ve said before, and you’re all right, this should send a loud and clear message to any troop who’s considering taking a prisoner.
