Sebelius Appeals To ‘Low Information’ Voters

An op-ed from Kathleen Sebelius, via USA Today:

Kathleen Sebelius: Improvement dramatic over Oct. 1

By Kathleen Sebelius | December 1, 2013

Wherever I go, I meet Americans who tell me how long they’ve been waiting for the security of affordable health coverage.

Whose fault is that? Ms. Sebelius is the one who has screwed up the rollout.

But speaking in more general terms, it’s the government and its various mandates and redistribution schemes that have driven up the cost of health insurance for years.

The new Marketplace is an opportunity for individuals without employer insurance to obtain coverage — with choice and competition that was previously unavailable.

In reality there is less choice and competition because of Obama-Care. Many insurers have given up offering plans in many states. And there are no longer any ‘bare bones’ catastrophic plans. Which, for many people, is all they need.

Many Americans and their families are eligible for financial assistance to make insurance even more affordable.

Except anyone making more than the average income. And even with the subsidies, insurance premiums will still be higher than they were before.

Yet, far too many of those who have visited HealthCare.gov have experienced problems. These problems are unacceptable. So we’ve been working 24/7 to make improvements, and more consumers are successfully shopping online and enrolling in a health plan each week.

As a result, today’s user experience on HealthCare.gov is a dramatic improvement over where it was on Oct. 1. The site is running faster, it’s responding quicker and it can handle larger amounts of traffic.

Now, there will be exceptions, and (as with any website) we will continue to make improvements. But the system is now working smoothly for the vast majority of users…

Could she be any more vague? Aren’t there any standards?

For those who prefer to shop online, you may want to visit HealthCare.gov in off-peak hours when there is less traffic — mornings, evenings, or on weekends… For times when there is high demand, there is a new online queuing system that allows users to opt to receive an e-mail when it’s a better time to come back.

How come Amazon doesn’t tell customers to shop at odd hours?

At the end of the day, our goal remains the same: to give every American who wants it the opportunity to obtain quality affordable health coverage.

And never mind that they are moving in the opposite direction.

    Act IV, Scene 1

    The three witches, casting a spell
    Round about the cauldron go;
    In the poison’d entrails throw.
    Toad, that under cold stone
    Days and nights hast thirty one
    Swelter’d venom sleeping got,
    Boil thou first i’ the charmed pot.

    Double, double toil and trouble;
    Fire burn and cauldron bubble.

    Fillet of a fenny snake,
    In the cauldron boil and bake;
    Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
    Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
    Adder’s fork, and blind-worm’s sting,
    Lizard’s leg, and howlet’s wing,
    For a charm of powerful trouble,
    Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

    Double, double toil and trouble;
    Fire burn and cauldron bubble.

    Scale of dragon, tooth of wolf,
    Witches’ mummy, maw and gulf
    Of the ravin’d salt-sea shark,
    Root of hemlock digg’d i’ the dark,
    Liver of blaspheming Jew,
    Gall of goat, and slips of yew
    Sliver’d in the moon’s eclipse,
    Nose of Turk, and Tartar’s lips,
    Finger of birth-strangled babe
    Ditch-deliver’d by a drab,
    Make the gruel thick and slab:
    Add thereto a tiger’s chaudron,
    For the ingredients of our cauldron.

    Double, double toil and trouble;
    Fire burn and cauldron bubble.

      in theory that should work,
      but didn’t because the Tea Party stole their Ruby Slippers.

      Well, I’m waiting til liberal Obama neighbor approaches me friendly which may take months until
      her Obama Care signed up. And then she won’t be happy until everyone get’s free federal health care as capitalism is evil.

      Been under the gun and not able to catch the news, but did catch a Hannity panel of younger people. Some actually worked for Obama and others were young conservatives.

      Striking is most all of them are for legalizing marijuana.

      What I am interested in knowing is what it’s like living in Colorado and Washington and seeing parents smoking it in front of their children.

      The problem is the Tea Party needs to totally disassociate itself from organizations like those Kansas religious haters.
      It’s an embarrassment for anyone to associate with them.
