SEIU Thugs Beat Up Town Hall Protester

First a little background from a citizen reporter on the scene via YouTube:

Over 1,000 St. Louis Tea Party Taxpayers showed up to attend the Russ Carnahan town hall meeting in South St. Louis.
They were Locked Out!

But… The Carnahan staff was sneaking in SEIU members in the side door marked "handicapped."

And then this report on ensuing events from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and YouTube:

Dueling protesters disrupt Carnahan forum on aging

In St. Louis and across the country, the debate over health care reform is growing louder.

On Thursday evening, a forum on aging called by Rep. Russ Carnahan, D-St. Louis, drew an overflow crowd of several hundred to Bernard Middle School gym in south St. Louis County. Dozens of people, many carrying signs about the health care debate, were kept out because of the turnout. The back and forth between factions within the crowd created a carnival-like atmosphere inside and out between members of the movement opposing President Barack Obama’s policies and groups who came to show support for the president’s proposals.

Six people, including a Post-Dispatch reporter, were arrested after confrontations outside the school, said county police spokesman Rick Eckhard. Two were arrested on suspicion of assault, one of resisting arrest and three on suspicion of committing peace disturbances. Carnahan was gone when the ruckus started, Eckhard said.

Kenneth Gladney, 38, a conservative activist from St. Louis, said he was attacked by some of those arrested as he handed out yellow flags with "Don’t tread on me" printed on them. He spoke to the Post-Dispatch from the emergency room at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, where he said he was awaiting treatment for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face. Gladney, who is black, said one of his attackers, also a black man, used a racial slur against him before the attack.

"It just seems there’s no freedom of speech without being attacked," he said.

It was unclear why Post-Dispatch reporter Jake Wagman, who was covering the event and shooting video for stltoday.com, was arrested. As she photographed the arrests, Post-Dispatch photographer Dawn Majors said she heard Wagman yell her name and say that he was being taken into custody. The officer said Wagman had been interfering, Majors said.

Members of the local Tea Party Coalition, a movement that has emerged to counter Obama’s policies, had urged their members to attend Carnahan’s forum, which in turn spurred Democrats to establish a strong presence.

Inside the gathering, while speakers stuck to aging issues, they were often interrupted by yells from audience members who wanted to shift the focus to health care.

"This isn’t even close to civil," said Steve Belosi, 52, of Lake Saint Louis, commenting on the crowd. "The rudeness was beyond compare." Added Joyce Flecke, 70, of south St. Louis County: "A complete waste of time."

Other recent Carnahan appearances, including one earlier this week on the Cash for Clunkers program, have drawn similar protests. And last week, hundreds turned out to voice their opinions on reforms to the staff of Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo.

Carnahan issued a statement after the Thursday night’s forum, saying: "Sadly we’ve seen stories about disrupters around the country, and we have a handful of them here in Missouri. Instead of participating in a civil debate, they have mobilized with special interests in Washington who have lined their pockets by overcharging Americans for a broken health care system."

If you watch the video you can see that Mr. Gladney in the light brown t-shirt is attacked by people wearing dark blue SEIU t-shirts.

As we all know the SEIU has been Mr. Obama’s most staunch supporters.

They also are the union that represents healthcare workers. So they have a very strong interest in the passage of Obama-care.

Oddly enough the article from our watchdog media mentions none of this.

It was unclear why Post-Dispatch reporter Jake Wagman, who was covering the event and shooting video for stltoday.com, was arrested.

Let’s just say we have our suspicions.

Gird up your loins boys and girls cause it don’t get any prettier from here on in!
Obamas’ SS Dark shirts are doing the masters bidding with his blessings. (kissing the ring)

This pisses me off and I’ll be at one of those meetings when the congresspersons grow a pair and announce TH here in N.C. because I’ll wait for union thugs that wanna touch me.

    I do believe ……… it’s on now!!
(Steve, I’m not advocating violence in anyway but turning the other cheek will get that side of the cheek hit. I am against gangster mentality)

LD, I work in Charlotte but honestly, I can’t see even union members in NC hoping to get more government in their lives, especially after the state government just passed a huge tax increase.

And, to be frank, I don’t know which union or unions would have the numbers to make such a thing happen in NC, although I’m prepared to be enlightened.

Heck, I’m union, mostly against my will, but I have absolutely NO desire to see this bill ever pass. It will financially wreck this nation.

    • jobeth says:

If the local union members won’t cooperate they will just bus the thugs in.

And altho you may belong to a union that doesn’t mean you are a union thug. Many of us at one time or the other has found we had to belong, however unwillingly, to a union to protect our jobs and family…not from the company so much but from the crap we would get from the union. I know I had to in my last job. I hated that my dues was going to support that crappy union…corrupt to the core!!!!

  2. proreason says:

This is the tip of the spear.

We can roll over for the thugs who want to steal what we have earned, and live like serfs for the rest of our lives.

    Or do what is necessary.

  3. Liberals Demise says:

Rusty, these clowns will hump in “out of towners” to muscle us around. I wouldn’t put it past these union people to purchase some professional “Pipe Hitters” to keep things “Democratic” if you get my drift! But don’t worry buddy, I don’t think our reps have the grapefruits to hold any Town Halls. They truly think we are all Gomers, Goobers, Barneys and Floyd the barbers here.
    Power to the People!!

  4. TwilightZoned says:

Typical Chicago way…Thugocracy at it’s finest.

In 6 months he’s managed to tear our country apart. I’m not sure how much lower my heart can sink.

    • MinnesotaRush says:

I share your heartache oftentimes, TZ; but hang in there!

We grassroots Americans are far stronger in the long haul than this phony o-blah-blah and his gang. We need to gear up .. got vocal and loud .. and make sure our message is getting out there; but do hang in there!

Evil men rule when good men do nothing!

    • proreason says:

“In 6 months he’s managed to tear our country apart”

So much for the person who promised to bring the country together.

      Every promise was a lie.

  5. curvyred says:

There are far more against then for – the tide is turning and the Libs do not like the way folks are “organizing” so they have decided to send in the goon squad. Tactical error on their part because citizens all across our country have had quite enough.

If anyone gets hurt I suggest they think about filing a lawsuit against the people in DC who said “if they hit us, we will hit them twice as hard”

Statement from the gentleman who was attacked in St Louis via his attorney:

“I am Kenneth Gladney’s attorney. Kenneth was attacked on the evening of August 6, 2009 at Rep. Russ Carnahan’s town hall meeting in South St. Louis County. I was at the town hall meeting as well and witnessed the events leading up to the attack of Kenneth. Kenneth was approached by an SEIU representative as Kenneth was handing out “Don’t Tread on Me” flags to other conservatives. The SEIU representative demanded to know why a black man was handing out these flags. The SEIU member used a racial slur against Kenneth, then punched him in the face. Kenneth fell to the ground. Another SEIU member yelled racial epithets at Kenneth as he kicked him in the head and back. Kenneth was also brutally attacked by one other male SEIU member and an unidentified woman. The three men were clearly SEIU members, as they were wearing T-shirts with the SEIU logo. ”

Wonder if the One thinks this is a “teachable” moment.

    • neocon mom says:

Guys like Kenneth Gladney are especially brave. I am sure that being a conservative minority in this country is no picnic.

    • Right of the People says:

Wonder if the One thinks this is a “teachable” moment.

Bet you sweet patootie it is. It is teaching folks we can’t trust the bozo’s in DC and their SEIU thugs. I’m glad I can legally carry.

      Let’s take this sucker back!

    • proreason says:

A President of all the people would have been on TV already condemning this action and every other act of violence against people exercising their right of free speech.

Instead, he is fueling the fire.

      Just like Hitler.

      He WANTS this.

    • Gila Monster says:

Will the assailants of Mr. Gladney be prosecuted for a hate crime? After all, he’s black and he was beat up for being black, a conservative black but black nonetheless, right?

Sigh…., I already know the answer to my question.

There is a “teachable moment” here. The glaring hypocrisy of the liberal left comes to mind.

    • curvyred says:

Sigh, sadly I agree there will be no hate crimes charged.

I am not a proponent of hate crimes legislation anyways -but it seems strange that Al, Jessie and the ACLU are not running to the MSM in defense of this man.

God bless Mr Gladney. I am so glad he is sticking up for what he believes in.

PS remind me again which political party are the racists?

  6. 12 Gauge Rage says:

And people said that could never happen here. But it has and it’s only the beginning. It might be time now to secure our rights from the cartridge box because the other side is doing all they can to deprive us our rights from the ballot box.

    • jobeth says:

Tell you how bad it is…I bought myself a 38 a few years ago. My Brit husband, who was never allowed to own a gun in the UK did not understand my wanting one. He’s basically a passive sort of guy. Fights if he has to, but doesn’t like turmoil.

I found him searching on line the other day for rifles! Even HE thinks its time to think about protecting ourselves.

People are already being beaten up for speaking up so it’s clear by Obama’s actions and the actions of his minions and thugs that we must be ready

  7. retire05 says:

If you check the national SEIU website, they have a form for members to fill out saying they will attend these town hall meetings. Of course, they say they will be peaceful, but as we saw in St. Louis last night, the SEIU (connected at the hip to ACORN and Wade Radske) thugs will be anything but peaceful.

Be warned when you attend a town hall meeting. The SEIU thugs are there to intimidate, harrass and threaten anyone who is against Obamacare. And it won’t end until some senior Veteran gets hurt. Even then, our Obama media will ignore it.

If you see a person being threatened by a White House thug, surround them and call in the police. There is safety in numbers. Be sure not to scream or shout at the thug, make no moves that could be considered aggressive, and get the police involved.

God help us. We are on the verge of anarchy.

  8. catie says:

I remember this stupid commercial-Look for the Union Label when I was a kid. It had some fat woman singing about the garment workers union. I guess they have a new job and perhaps a new song.
Look for the Union Label when you are going to the Townhall. Remember somewhere our union sewing for the thug t-shirts for SEIU and Acorn too. They’re thugs who hit hard but please remember that the SEIU has a friend in the House, so always look for the Union Label it says we’re able to beat the crap out of the USA.
    Anarchy is right!

    • jobeth says:

I still look for the union label. Then I put it back on the shelf and buy something made in Taiwan.

I prefer that to supporting union thugs

  9. MinnesotaRush says:

o-blah-blah’s pissed because the wrong community (in his mind) is organizing!

Keep it up folks! How about we start the Dr Pepper campaign. Everyday, at 10-2-4 (and that’d be 10, 2, & 4 AM & PM), we all send an e-mail to flag@whitehouse.gov that says:

We, grassroots Americans, oppose government’s encroaching into our health care as you have outlined, AND your gross and offensive encouraged violation of our Freedom of Speech. We will NEVER accept ANY PLAN that is not the very same plan that ALL of our elected officials (including the President) and every federal employee has as their singular and ONLY plan. THAT approach will likely end this conflict. Remember .. you do work for us! Public Service, please, from public servants!

Feel free to cut and paste .. e-mail it to yourself so you can save it and forward it every 10-2-4. Go Dr Pepper!!!

  10. B1gjohn says:

Has anyone noticed the talk coming out of Obama’s Administration resembles that of IRAN AND VENEZUELA!

  11. kd says:

Obama told the Senators they would hit the protesters back harder. The SEIU, like ACORN is funded by, and works for, the Federal Government. This is Fascism. We must not be intimidated by an oppressive government.

  12. jobeth says:

You gotta love these SEIU unions. Check out the expressions on the faces of the people on their own web site.

Must be a permanent scowl on the faces of their members! They even look like trouble.

  13. wirenut says:

Jobeth, “Oh My” LOL. Somehow I don’t think the union label was meant to be a brand. I’ll take that back, they do brand cattle to show who they belong to. Sorry!

  14. curvyred says:

    Oh my goodness:

SEUI using this footage in their youtube video to discredit “teabaggers”

The videos presents the SEIU as the peaceful ones and the “teabaggers” as the rowdy ones – creative editing a la Michael M.

  15. canary says:

The one SIEU slug asking “where’s my ‘piece'” several times. That’s black slang for “gun”. Won’t see them on Dept of Homeland Security’s terrorist list. Obama doesn’t care about children’s safety.
Obama could do a Rodney King “Can’t we all get along?” no. Obama called on the violence; “protests were his prayer”. Still are.

Soooo, another SOB (Summit of Obama Beer) moment?

  16. canary says:

The SIEU should be sued to pay their victims hospital bills.

The SIEU dispatched a memo to every global chapter, saying
telling a totally different story on the matter, that an SIEU member and SIEU preacher were beat up.
The irony of militant health advocates to go around pushinig, beating, kicking, and threatening people with guns?
