Thank GOD for WBTV (TV station in Charlotte) and for Rep. Sue Myrick (US Rep from North Carolina )

Myrick wants to focus on Muslims in the military

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – U.S. Congressional representative Sue Myrick (R-NC) is weighing in about Muslims in the military after a shooting at Fort Hood left 13 dead and nearly 30 hurt.

Charged in the case is a life-long Muslim, Army Major Nadil Malik Hassan, who was said to have opposed the war in Iraq and Afghanistan before allegedly going on the shooting spree.

Myrick, in her words, believes it’s time to stop being politically correct, because she’s worried about Muslims infiltrating the military.

“I really and truly feel very strongly that we’ve got to look at this in a different light,” Myrick told WBT News Friday morning. “And we’ve got to look to look at the breakdown between our intelligence in this country and the military, because this isn’t the first time this kind of thing has happened in the military.”

    http://www.wbtv.com/global/story.asp?s=11457794

Oh, there is also a poll on the story… Go VOTE!!

U.S. Representative Sue Myrick (R-NC) said Friday that she is “very concerned about infiltration into the military” by Jihadists. Should we be worried about such a scenario?

    Yes
    No
    I’m not sure

As of 11:17 the results so far are:

      Yes——————-90%
      No———————9%
      Not Sure————-1%

‘Course it could be pinging from the potential for knee-jerking from Thursday’s events. However, there were those who sought to isolate Japanese citizens from military service during WW II and they created internment camps as well. Not one of our best moments, although I understand the fear.

So how best to do it?

I’m afraid I’m fresh out of answers and the only one I can come up with is barring any mooselimb from military service period simply because their religion is in direct conflict with the Constitution of the United States which they have to take an oath to defend.

      It’s as simple as that.

If you are devout to your religion of islam then by definition, the Constitution is pretty much 180 degrees out from that.

Great audio interview with Col. Ralph Peters on Fort Hood podcast: No Time for Political Correctness

Today’s interview with Col. Ralph Peters is below the fold. The colonel has always been a voice of reason when it comes to military matters, Iraq and Afghanistan. A noted soldier, author and columnist, I asked for clarity on the Fort Hood massacre when we set this up and he certainly gives it.

“This was a cold blooded, premeditated, act of terrorism. There’s no other word for it. But I have to tell you, the Army also bears blame for this. The Army is so sick with political correctness that no one had the guts to take this guy on.

He argued with his patients about foreign policy, posting hate speech and praising suicide bombers on the internet, labeling himself Palestinian and no one, no one said this guy’s not fit.”

Listen to the whole thing, but it really takes off about a third of the way through. Click on the play button…

The Army has been doing “Social Engineering” for quite some time but I would not blame this on that. The sole blame rests on the sick and twisted religion the muslims practice on helpless Americans.

    MoveOn reminds everyone that “Thou shall not disagree with the party, …..ever!” From Fox News;

MoveOn Threatens to Push Primary Opponents to Dems Voting Against Health Plan

Moveon.org has reportedly raised $3,578,117 in contributions to fund primary challenges against ‘any Democratic senator who blocks an up-or-down vote on health care reform with a public option,’ according to an e-mail sent to group members on Thursday.

A civil war is threatening to erupt within the Democratic Party as liberal advocacy group MoveOn.org looks to punish moderate Democrats opposed to the sweeping health care overhaul proposed by party leaders.

MoveOn has reportedly raised more than $3.5 million in contributions to fund primary challenges against “any Democratic senator who blocks an up-or-down vote on health care reform with a public option,” according to an e-mail sent to group members on Thursday.

The e-mail warned that any Democratic House member who joins Republicans to filibuster the health care reform measure will “face an enormous backlash from the grassroots.”

The group also highlights a letter from Democracy for America, the nation’s largest progressive political action founded by former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean, which urges Senate Democrats to strip committee chairmanship from “any Democrat who filibusters health care.”

MoveOn.org, which has 5 million members, has become increasingly vocal in its threats against conservative and moderate Democrats who remain opposed to the health care bills laid out by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Several Democrats, including Rep. Ike Skelton of Missouri, chairman of the Armed Services Committee, and Rep. Artur Davis of Alabama, have expressed resistance to Pelosi’s $1.055 trillion measure in recent days — underscoring the intra-party rift over President Obama’s top domestic priority.

Obama had planned a rare visit to the House Friday morning to persuade wavering Democrats, but was forced to reschedule it until Saturday as delays push back a vote on the measure.

Among the most heated disagreements among rank-and-file Democratic lawmakers are issues related to abortion and illegal immigrants.

Democratic opponents of abortion — under pressure from Catholic bishops — want stronger provisions written in the bill that no federal funds would be used to finance abortion in coverage bought in the government-run exchange.

Who knew. The AP discovers shocking truths about unemployment:

What recovery? Unemployment shoots past 10 percent

…The survey of companies doesn’t count the self-employed and undercounts employees of small businesses. So the economic picture could be even more dire….

Troubles for small businesses could have a disproportionate effect on the economy, because they account for about 60 percent of the nation’s jobs. They tend to rely on credit cards and home equity lines — both of which banks have tightened — for cash flow.

And the unemployment rate doesn’t include people without jobs who have stopped looking, or those who have settled for part-time jobs. Counting those people, the unemployment rate would be 17.5 percent, the highest since at least 1994….”

    http://finance.yahoo.com/news/.....4.html?x=0

S&L has known these truths since the beginning. Perhaps the AP should begin coming to us for their unemployment data analysis.

But there is actually a new kernal of information in their story. In addition to the numerous unemployed who aren’t counted that we are already well aware of, it turns out that somebody knows that layoffs of employees for small business are undercounted.

Of course, they never say that the 17.5% figure doesn’t include the groups that they identify as data problems.

I guess I am going to have to begin saying the true unemployment is “well over 20%”, now that I know about the undercounting of the employees that represent 60% of the country’s workforce.

Another uncounted 1.5 million people have withdrawn from the workforce since Obamy tanked the economy.

      http://data.bls.gov/PDQ/servle.....NS11300000

The chart is the government’s count of “workforce participation”, which means the percent of people of working age (16 to 64) who are working or actively looking for work. (note: it’s a survey number)

Notice that between Jan 1999 and August 2008, the percentage fell from 67.2% to 66.1%. That probably represents an aging population.

But from Sep 2008 until now, the drop is another full 1% (9 times the rate of the recent historical drop).

That represents people who have withdrawn from the workforce in the last 12 months. It’s about 1.5 million people. They were trying to find work before Obamy, but now aren’t even trying.

They aren’t counted in the unemployments statistics either.

I guess they are living on Obamy dollars.

BigGov Statistical fog hides Obamy White House stealth destruction of Amerika’s Small Businesses: By David Grossman of Online AsiaTimes

It’s About the Death of Small Business

As I said on Larry Kudlow’s CNBC show Wednesday night (see link in previous post), the big issue in the US economy is the massacre of small business. That’s why the household survey shows that 558,000 Americans “became unemployed” during October, while the establishment survey of payrolls shows a decline of only 190,000 jobs. The establishment data, which are collected from larger businesses, are more reliable; the household survey is based on telephone interviews with randomly-selected households. But the numbers are so large as to make clear that small businesses are shutting down.

With commercial and industrial lending by American banks down 13% since September 2008, and most banks continuing to “tighten lending standards” in the Fed’s official poll, this is not surprising. Wal-Mart will make it through a recession; not the tea-cozy shop down the mall corridor, much less the real-estate agency in the half-abandoned exurb. The global speculative grade default rate, as Moody’s reported this week, has risen to a post-Great Depression high of 12%. Credit lines for small businesses (including home equity, credit cards, and all the other devices entrepreneurs use to fund themselves) will continue to shrink.

Numerous analysts have made the point that in all previous post-war recoveries, it was small business that led job creation. During the 1980s and 1990s large businesses lost employment and small businesses grew. The fact that job losses at small business are evidently far higher than those at large businesses does not make this look like any recovery at all.

    http://blog.atimes.net/?p=1224

All according to plan. All according to plan.

As I’ve said many times, the institution that the fascists hate the most are Religion, the Family, and Small Businesses.

Those three institutions are the lifeblood of the country. They are our social structure. They are our safety net. They, along with the Constitution, are what have made this country so great.

    So they must be destroyed.

Even Glenn Beck isn’t on this, but think about it.

The attacks on religion have been going on for 50 years (except, of course, Islam). The attacks on the Family are more subtle, but that is the real purpose of Gay Marriage, and Abortion, and Femi-naziism, and the sexual revolution.

But you didn’t know that Small Businesses are being wiped out while the shell moves from Fox News to the Olympics to Afghanistan to Global Warming to Date Nights to puppies in the White House, did you?

Soon there will be NO small businesses.

And why not? GM capitulated in a month. GE fell years ago. Big Pharma and the Health Insurers….lap dogs to the government. But while small businesses exist, they are totally unmanageable. There are thousands of them. It’s like a herd of cats. A nightmare for the commissars.

So what is a good fascist to do, when faced with such a problem?

Why, bankrupt them of course. Bankrupt them.

    This is just pathetic reporting:

An overly long piece that could be summed up thusly:

Obama sending less than needed troops and not till next year.

Simple. But McClatchy takes over a thousand words to justify the boy’s position.

Obama nearing decision to send more troops to Afghanistan

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/mcclat.....DMQ–

By Jonathan S. Landay, John Walcott and Nancy A. Youssef, McClatchy Newspapers Jonathan S. Landay, John Walcott And Nancy A. Youssef, Mcclatchy Newspapers – Sat Nov 7, 2:22 pm ET

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is nearing a decision to send more than 30,000 additional U.S. troops to Afghanistan next year, but he may not announce it until after he consults with key allies and completes a trip to Asia later this month, administration and military officials have told McClatchy .

As it now stands, the administration’s plan calls for sending three Army brigades from the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Ky. and the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, N.Y. and a Marine brigade, for a total of as many as 23,000 additional combat and support troops.

Another 7,000 troops would man and support a new division headquarters for the international force’s Regional Command (RC) South in Kandahar , the Taliban birthplace where the U.S. is due to take command in 2010. Some 4,000 additional U.S. trainers are likely to be sent as well, the officials said.

The first additional combat brigade probably would arrive in Afghanistan next March, the officials said, with the other three following at roughly three-month intervals, meaning that all the additional U.S. troops probably wouldn’t be deployed until the end of next year. Army brigades number 3,500 to 5,000 soldiers; a Marine brigade has about 8,000 troops.

The plan would fall well short of the 80,000 troops that Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal (asked for), the top U.S. military commander in Afghanistan , suggested as a “low-risk option” that would offer the best chance to contain the Taliban -led insurgency and stabilize Afghanistan .

It splits the difference between two other McChrystal options: a “high-risk” one that called for 20,000 additional troops and a “medium-risk” one that would add 40,000 to 45,000 troops.

And people wonder why I scream at the radio.

The reporting makes me mad enough but even more is the intentional foot-dragging on the part of the boy. His intentions are more than transparent and his arrogance is showing like a hooker’s ass. (sorry).

Pathetic….just…..absolutely pathetic. Why don’t you just pull our troops out? Instead of making this big show of “concern” and “weighted pseudo-intellectual thinking”

What did Captain Binghampton used to say? “I could just scream.”

Obama calls teabaggers anti-government extremists among other things.

New York Times:Lawmakers Detail Obama’s Pitch

Both Mr. Obama and the House leaders showcased Democrats’ newest colleague, Representative Bill Owens, who last Tuesday won a special election in an upstate New York district…

Mr. Owens gave unabashed support to the pending House health care bill, despite the opposition of national conservative groups, including the new Tea Party Patriots….

Mr. Obama, during his private pep talk to Democrats,.. and then posed a question to the other lawmakers. According to Representative Earl Blumenauer of Oregon,…,

    the president asked,
“Does anybody think that the teabag, anti-government people are going to support them if they bring down health care? All it will do is confuse and dispirit” Democratic voters “and it will encourage the extremists.”

To hell with healthcare; There’s a much bigger elephant in the room:

    From Yahoo finance:

China’s Premier Warns Obama to Get America’s Deficit to an “Appropriate Size”

    http://finance.yahoo.com/tech-.....LT,PGJ,UDN,

Posted Nov 09, 2009 01:32pm EST by Heesun Wee in Investing, Newsmakers, Commodities, Recession, Banking

As President Barack Obama prepares to depart Thursday for his first Asia trip, Chinese premier Wen Jiabao is urging the U.S. to keep its deficit to an “appropriate size,” a clear message to the leader of the world’s largest debtor nation from its largest creditor.

Oh, good. Barry is going to Asia? That can only have a profoundly good effect on us, right? Like as with the middle-eastern nations…and Honduras, and North Korea and….and…..

China is the largest holder of U.S. government debt and has invested an estimated 70% of its more than $2 trillion stockpile of foreign-exchange reserves (the world’s largest) in dollar assets, Reuters reports. Further dollar weakness, brought on by enormous U.S. deficit spending and near-zero interest rates, would erode the value of China’s huge U.S. holdings, as Henry and Aaron discuss in the accompanying clip.

But wait, a little further down you say that deficit spending in the form of stimulus money is good. What gives?

“Most importantly, we hope the United States will keep an appropriate size to its deficit so that there will be basic stability in the exchange rate, and that is conducive to stability and the recovery of the global economy,” Wen Jiabao said over the weekend at a news conference in Egypt.

In contrast, the best strategy for the U.S. may be an inflationary stance. We need stimulus spending to jump start our economy and reduce the real value of our record budget deficit of $1.42 trillion in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30. An improved U.S. economy also would mean more Americans buying up Chinese-made goods.

So, the answer is: No matter what we do, we’re screwed.

With an answer of “spend more money before we go broke” I’m afraid I can draw no other conclusion. I’m no economics major, and it’s obvious that the eggheads who are would laugh at me. But I am reminded of the “blood and turnip” analogy.

Collision course with China? But as historian Niall Ferguson discussed in a recent sitdown with Aaron at Buttonwood, there’s danger the U.S. may be on a collision course with the Asian giant. China, notably, is buying up hard assets with its cash including natural resources and oil from regions including Africa. As any history textbook will tell you, many political conflicts arise over disputes about natural resources.

Regardless of whether or not China chooses to unpeg its reminbi from the dollar, longer term the U.S. must come to terms with its deficit structure. Meanwhile, the dollar further weakened against the euro Monday as G-20 finance ministers offered no assurances they would take steps to strengthen the greenback.

So, it’s a matter of “deficit structure“. I must admit I’ve never heard of that term before. How do you “structure” debt? Or is there some magic that makes debt look not like debt? I’d like to know how that works since, I’ll admit I never listen to those commercials that say “turn debt into cash, fast”. Perhaps I would but it’s the “fast” part that worries me.

    (I’m mistrustful like that)

    • Confucius

      Two more bits:

–India has stopped buying the U.S. dollar. They’re buying gold now.
–OPEC wants to “de-peg” oil from the U.S. dollar.

It seems the world is valuing the dollar at worthless.

Obama Says He Wants To Visit A-bomb Cities Of Hiroshima And Nagasaki During His Presidency

TOKYO (AP) – President Barack Obama says he wants to visit Hiroshima and Nagasaki sometime during his presidency but won’t have time during this week’s trip to Japan to go to the cities devastated by U.S. atomic bombs at the end of World War II.

No sitting U.S. president has visited the two cities largely because of the controversy it could raise at home.

In an interview with Japanese broadcaster NHK that ran Tuesday, Obama said he would be unable to visit the cities on his trip to Japan this weekend due to time constraints but would be willing to do so in the future.

“The memories of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are etched in the minds of the world and I would be honored to have the opportunity to visit those cities at some point during my presidency,” Obama said in the interview, done Monday at the White House.

Calls have grown in Japan for Obama to visit the two cities since his April speech in Prague envisioning a nuclear-free world and since he was named Nobel Peace Prize winner last month.

The mayors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki have invited Obama to their cities before a U.N. review of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty next May. Japanese newspaper editorials and anti-nuclear activist groups have also called for Obama to come, pointing out that previous Nobel Peace Prize winners have visited the cities.

Many Japanese were impressed when new U.S. Ambassador John Roos visited Hiroshima last month, just weeks after he arrived in Tokyo.

A request by the Nihon Hidankyo, a nationwide organization for atomic bomb survivors, for a meeting with Obama was rejected because of the limited time he will be spending in Japan.

“We atomic bomb victims have been fighting for non-proliferation for the last 64 years,” said 80-year-old Mikiso Iwasa, a leader of the group who became an orphan at 16 from the Hiroshima bombing on Aug. 6, 1945. It killed an estimated 140,000 people. The U.S. dropped a second bomb on Nagasaki on Aug. 9, killing 80,000. Six days later, Japan surrendered, ending the war.

“We hope that Obama will not take a step backward but achieve a world without nuclear weapons hand-in-hand with us,” Iwasa said.

But traveling to either city could be a political minefield for any U.S. president. Signs of sympathy toward Japanese suffering could be seen as criticism of the decision to drop the bombs – viewed among many Americans as a pragmatic decision to hasten the end of the war that the U.S. entered after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941.

Others see the bombings as crimes against humanity.

Former President Jimmy Carter stopped by the atomic bomb memorial in Hiroshima in 1984, after he was out of office. The highest-ranking American to visit while in office is House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who went last year.

Obama is due to arrive in Tokyo on Friday to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama before he flies on to an Asian summit in Singapore on Saturday.

Obama sure didn’t mind America getting the Japanese & Dutch out of Indonesia when they took it over. He’s just angry that America did not come and kill the muslims that were purging the communists.
Indonesia is all about Obama. Iraq, Afganistan,’s brutality is not our business. John Kerry was saying that we will keep residential forces in Iraq and Afganistand, etc. which is the norm when we fight a war in a country, but John Kerry was against us stopping the beheading by the North Vietnamese against the South. John McCain said we’d have residential Americans in Iraq, but oh no. Obama was going to bring every troop home. Obama was a big fan of Truman’s cold war policies. I think Kerry & Obama have brain damage from drugs.

Goldman Sachs, Citigroup among NYC employers that got hard-to-find swine flu vaccine

    KAREN MATTHEWS
    November 5, 2009

NEW YORK (AP) — Some of New York’s biggest companies, including Wall Street giants Goldman Sachs and Citigroup, received doses of swine flu vaccine for at-risk employees, drawing criticism that the hard-to-find vaccine is going first to the privileged.

Hospitals, universities and the Federal Reserve Bank also got doses of the vaccine for employees who need it the most, such as pregnant women or chronically ill workers, according to the city’s health department.

In order to receive the vaccine, companies had to have their own medical staff.

“Vaccines should go to people who need them most, not people who happen to work on Wall Street,” Democratic Sen. Chris Dodd of Connecticut said Thursday.

“Wall Street banks have already taken so much from us. They’ve taken trillions of our tax dollars. They’ve taken away people’s homes who are struggling to pay the bills,” union official John VanDeventer wrote on the Web site of the 2 million-member Service Employees International Union. “But they should not be allowed to take away our health and well-being.” …

Dr. Thomas Frieden said any decisions that appear to send vaccine beyond high-priority groups “have the potential to undermine the credibility of the program.” …

Dr. William Schaffner, a flu expert at Vanderbilt University, said allocation of limited vaccine is tricky. CDC guidelines provide a list of patients who should be at the front of the line: children and young people through age 24, people caring for infants under 6 months, pregnant women, health care workers, and adults with health conditions such as asthma and diabetes. …

Besides Goldman Sachs and Citigroup, they include Time Inc. and hospitals such as Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. …

Morgan Stanley received 1,000 doses of the vaccine for its New York and suburban offices, but the company turned over its entire supply to local hospitals when it learned it received shipments before some area hospitals, spokeswoman Jeanmarie McFadden said.

ABC News:Officials: U.S. Army Told of Hasan’s Contacts with al Qaeda
Army Major in Fort Hood Massacre Used ‘Electronic Means’ to Connect with Terrorists
By RICHARD ESPOSITO, MATTHEW COLE & BRIAN ROSS Nov 9 2009

According to the officials, the Army was informed of Hasan’s contact, but it is unclear what, if anything, the Army did in response.

Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-MI), the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, said that he requested the CIA and other intelligence agencies brief the committee on what was known, if anything, about Hasan by the U.S. intelligence community, only to be refused.

In response, Hoekstra issued a document preservation request to four intelligence agencies. The letter, dated November 7th, was sent to directors Dennis Blair (DNI), Robert Mueller (FBI), Lt. Gen Keith Alexander (NSA) and Leon Panetta (CIA).

Hoekstra said he is “absolutely furious” that the house intel committee has been refused an intelligence briefing by the DNI or CIA on Hasan’s attempt to reach out to al Qaeda, as first reported by ABC News.

Current TV Shifts Focus, Cuts 80

    By Anthony Crupi

Current TV, the cable channel founded by former Vice President Al Gore, has begun overhauling its programming model, a process that began Wednesday with the elimination of 80 full-time staff positions.

Originally positioned as a showcase for short-form, user-generated content, Current is shifting toward a more traditional content strategy, with plans to run 30- and 60-minute programs, many of which will be acquisitions.

While Current will continue to generate some in-house content, most of the cuts were made at the channel’s Los Angeles-based production and programming facilities. Pink slips were also handed out in Current’s New York, San Francisco and London offices.

Per recent estimates, user-generated content accounts for some 30 percent of Current’s programming. “We are as keen as ever on participatory media,” said chief operating officer Joanna Drake Earl, adding that the channel is likely to program more themed compilation shows rather than run blocks of standalone viewer submissions.

The move comes just months after former MTV president and chief operating officer Mark Rosenthal was named CEO of Current Media. A charter member of Current’s board of directors, Rosenthal in July replaced founding CEO Joel Hyatt.

In a statement issued Wednesday afternoon, Current said the reorganization “was not the result of a need to cut costs.” Rather, the company has elected to reallocate its resources, placing greater emphasis on licensing and acquisitions. …

    http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/co.....cbfcc7ba21

In case you can’t tell through all the euphemisms, what this means is Current is going to be dumping their in-house staff and will instead be purchasing content from third-party contractors.

Fort Hood suspect charged with 13 counts of murder

FORT HOOD, Texas – An Army psychiatrist was charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder in the Fort Hood massacre….

It had not been decided whether to charge Hasan with the death of the unborn child of a pregnant soldier who died,

… John Brennan, assistant to the president for homeland security and counterterrorism, will oversee the review. … Obama also ordered the preservation of the intelligence…

“What I find disturbing is that my client is in ICU, and he’s 150 miles south of his defense counsel, and he’s being served with the charges,” he told The Associated Press. “Given his status as a patient, I’m troubled by this procedure and that I’m not there. I’m in the dark, and that shouldn’t be the case. I am mad.”

BEIJING – The toll has risen to 38 Friday amid China’s heaviest snowfall in the last 60 years, China Daily reported.

The storm brought up by the heavy snowfall hit the northern Chinese provinces of Hebei, Shanxi and Henan, with some regions affected by snow storms for the first time in a hundred years.

As of Friday, 38 people died in the freezing weather, which caused upheaval to millions of people, a chinanews.cn report said.

The heaviest snowfall since 1987 hit Xian, capital of Shanxi province Wednesday, resulting in the lowest temperature in the province during the past 22 years.

Liaocheng, in northwest Shangdong, was blanketed by the heaviest snowfall ever seen in the region. An average of 16.2 mm of snowfall occurred overall, with the lowest temperature plummeting to minus 4 degree Celsius.

In Shijiazhuang, capital of worst-hit Hebei province, six people died and 630,000 have been affected due to the severe weather. The direct economic loss has reached 419 million yuan ($59 million). Transportation there has been blocked, with many people stranded on their way.
