This thread is for the busy bees of S&L to post news articles that may not warrant their own thread.

Posting Guidelines

To make the articles as readable as possible, please:

  • Only post ‘hard news’ from establishment media outlets.
  • Avoid editorials and ‘thought pieces’ unless they are truly newsworthy.
  • Eschew major news items that most people will likely have seen elsewhere.
  • Post articles that fit under the topic of a recent thread as a comment there.
  • Always spell out the name of the source and post a link to it.
  • Always post less than one quarter of the original article.

Ruling on ethnic students program splits Arizona community

Years ago, many urban school districts around the country created ethnic studies programs in an effort to help minority students succeed in the classroom and learn about their heritage.

WRONG! Ethnic studies accomplishes neither. In college, everyone must take at least 1 ethnic studies class, and the minorities did just as poorly as any other class. Schools are not in the business to “teach minorities their heritage.” That is a responsibility of the family, church, or other community organizations. Ethnic studies classes are nothing more than ginning up racism. Every event is focused on oppression, injustice, violence, death, by other peoples. “Heritage” involves a great deal of things, but that is not what these classes do.

A legal fight is already underway because of a federal lawsuit that was filed prior to this vote. Richard Martinez is a Tucson attorney representing the plaintiffs who says the state law could very well be a violation of the teachers’ First Amendment rights.

Ever notice how students skip school, or don’t show up at all, and teachers are relieved to have 1 less obligation, or taxpayers are happy 1 less expensive program is being instituted? Why not in this case? NOooo, lawsuits, marching, protesting, threats, hatred, epithets being thrown around, temper-tantrums at every level? —because the drumbeat of liberal hatred of this country has been challenged, and at least temporarily stopped. You will never see more vicious opposition, then when you call liberalism for what it is, they can’t let it stand, they must muddy the waters with their own accusations of racism.

If Conservatives truly want to overthrow liberalism, they will match the intensity of these people. Any protesting students should be thrown out of school, as they are admitted racists. All school staff risk immediate termination of their contracts. ZERO TOLERANCE for racism.

“That if I go and stand for something, I’m going to fall for anything. a teacher yelled.”….a TEACHER couldn’t even get a simple quotation correct, so is this person really able to teach something as subtle and complex as ethnic studies (mild sarcasm)????

I know, and the stupid girl said, “UNIDOS we stand, divided we fall!” –um, you mean UNITED?

And that is the whole point of cancelling racist “victimization studies” in the first place, because we CAN’T BE UNITED if we keep trying to make little democrats out of these kids.

And I don’t understand why spanish speakers living in America have THE HARDEST TIME learning English! If you know spanish, Italian or Portuguese is the easiest language for them to learn, then English. It’s not like going from spanish to Japanese, or spanish to some Arab language. My God, “unidos” is almost the same as “united”, you would think that stupid brat would have not made the simple error, especially if her point was to unite all of us.

Should Japan tap into Israeli model country

The Japan Times: THE ZEIT GIST

Japanese must tap their ‘inner Israeli’
Lessons from Mideast ‘island’ success story could help this nation out of its rut

Quite an inaccurate picture from Japan media but they get it. Little Giant Israel high tech.
