Panetta barely escaped suicide attack by “interpreter”on his landing in Afghanistan

Canada.Com Incident at Afghan base targeted top Marine commander, British deputy

    McClatchy-Tribune Information Services
By David S. Cloud, MCT Mar 16, 2012

ABOARD A U.S. MILITARY AIRCRAFT — An attempted attack Wednesday at a southern Afghanistan air base targeted a top Marine commander and his British deputy as they awaited an airplane carrying Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta, a senior Defense Department official acknowledged Friday.

Maj. Gen. Mark Gurganus, the Marine commander in Helmand province, and Brig. Stuart Skeates were waiting at 11:15 a.m. as Panetta’s plane taxied toward them when a stolen Toyota Hi-Lux truck careened onto the runway ramp, scattering the group, the official said.

Panetta’s plane was abruptly diverted to another part of the air base after the pilot was told of the unfolding incident.

Had the breach occurred several minutes later, Panetta likely would have been on the runway and in the path of the oncoming vehicle.

He was apprehended after fleeing the vehicle but later died as a result of his burns.

Base personnel noticed smoke rising from the area where Panetta’s plane was supposed to park, leading to the decision to divert the aircraft to another location, the official said.

“Welcome to our humble home. How do you like it so far?” Gurganus said, chuckling, in an apparent reference to the incident.

In the aftermath of the botched attack, U.S. military investigators detained for questioning three other Afghans who worked as interpreters at Camp Bastion, including the attacker’s father and brother, the official said.

Obama’s order for U.S. Marines to disarm in a combat zone minutes after they were attacked unprecedented. –

      V.E. Brown Mar 16, 2012

“Obama Administration To Troops In Combat Zone: ‘We Don’t Trust YOU Any More Than We Trust Our Afghan Allies, So You Are Ordered To Disarm’

You need to understand that this is unprecedented: an administration actually disarmed its very own troops prior to a visit to a combat zone:

It’s been reported that a car bomb exploded when Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta landed in Afghanistan earlier today, but no one was injured except the man who was driving the car when it burst into flames. In other news, an even bigger bomb was dropped on our Marines when they were ordered to disarm before entering a building in Afghanistan to hear Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta give a speech….”

There was more than one stolen truck as the one used to attack U.S. Marines and Peonatta.

I remembered days before this attack the media reported there were several trucks stolen.
And yet, our U.S. Soldiers were ordered to disarm after a direct attack.

      Bullseye!

A Toyota attacked our U.S. Marines & Peonatta and Toyota Land Cruiser Bomb Jammers were Stolen in Afghanistan in January. How else could security have been so poor at the high security air field?

Secret Army Bomb Jammers Stolen in Afghanistan

On Jan. 7, someone strolled into a supply room at Camp Eggers, a coalition base near the U.S. embassy in downtown Kabul, pocketed two sets of car keys and walked out undetected. Sometime over the next 24 hours, the thieves drove away with two black-painted, armored Toyota Land Cruisers belonging to the U.S. Army’s 26th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, a unit that escorts coalition personnel around Kabul.

… But what’s really got the Army worried is what was inside the vehicles: two sets of top-secret Duke radio frequency jammers used to block the signals that detonate remote-controlled Improvised Explosive Devices. In a notice posted to the Website of the Army’s Criminal Investigative Command (and first noted by Military Times), investigators plead for anyone with knowledge of the theft to contact CID offices in and around Kabul.

Best case scenario: the thieves have no ties to insurgents and no appreciation of the jammers’ value … and the high-tech devices wind up in a scrap heap somewhere.

Worst case: the jammers wind up in the hands of insurgents who then reverse-engineer them to create some kind of counter-counter-measure, thus making already-deadly IEDs even more dangerous.

Which is to say, even in the worst-case scenario, the Army’s multi-billion-dollar efforts to defeat IEDs is not entirely compromised by the jammer loss. But that doesn’t make the theft any less embarrassing for the world’s leading ground force.

Sidestepping Congress, Obama angers Egypt in resume to pay them $1.3 billion in military aid to Egypt. Only a 7 U.S. hostages have been released at $4,000.000 each, while the other 45 hostages remain to be prosecuted.

Pittsburgh Post Gazette: Despite Rights Concerns, U.S. Plans to Resume Egypt Aid

    March 16, 2012 12:00 am

By Steven Lee Myers, The New York Times

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration plans to resume military aid to Egypt,…

…sidestepping a new Congressional requirement that for the first time directly links military assistance to the protection of basic freedoms.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is expected to waive the requirement on national security grounds as soon as early next week, according to administration and Congressional officials.

The outcome is not likely to please either human rights advocates concerned about abuses by Egypt’s security forces or many Egyptians, who have grown disillusioned with the military council and hostile toward American interference in Egyptian affairs.

The case, which began in December, continues, though Egyptian authorities, under intense pressure from the administration, lifted a travel ban on the seven American employees of the groups. The individuals were allowed to depart after the groups paid nearly $4 million in bail.

It has also proposed continuing military aid next year and creating a new $770 million fund to support economic development across North Africa.

The administration succeeded in including the waiver authority in the new law, giving Mrs. Clinton flexibility to allow some aid, without a blanket waiver.

After the Americans were released and six of them left the country, the new Parliament, in a symbolic action, debated rejecting American aid outright, and questioned relations with Israel.

“The strength of Egypt, its stability, is important to the region and to the world,” the House Democratic leader, Nancy Pelosi, said on Thursday during a visit to Cairo with a delegation of lawmakers, “and we want to be helpful in that regard.”

DHS releases manual to detect terrorists

    ‘Terrorist Awareness and Prevention”
    http://static.prisonplanet.com.....hs_doc.pdf

Look for people with notebooks and sketch pads. People taking pictures, or drawing pictures.

    EYES:
    Glances: directions, duration, timing
    Wide open “flash bulb eyes”
    Cold penetrating stare
    Trance-like Gaze

(Canary is guilty of most of these except Trance-like Gaze. Canary’s eyes are moving quickly looking for bulges, or gadget, reaching into pockets. Canary eyes leave only quickly to scope the surroundings, how many people in danger, exits, and watching to see if it’s time to jump on the muslim)

    FACE and NECK:
Exaggerated yawning when engaged in coversation
    Protruding or beating neck arteries
Repetitive touching of face, tugging on or covering ears
    Increased breathing rate
    Panting
    Excessive fidgeting
    Clock watching
    Head turnings

    BODY:
    Pacing or jumpy
    Trembling
    Unusual perspriration
    Goose bumps
Rigid Posture w/minimal body movements and arms close to sides.

(Canary is guilty of the last one in order to commit the above eye action. Jump when I run into a muslim. Canary has not jumped on top of one ….yet)

    “SERVING THE COMMUNITY”

“Citizens should never use race or religion as a factor for reporting suspicious activity.”

(Canary thinks we should at least pick up those wearing muslim garb like “Major Hasan” did before he changed into his Military uniform. Do recall the store clerk said he seemed peaceful and happy before he slaughtered dozens of unarmed U.S. Soldiers at a Medical Facility.

    (1) “All you really need to do is pay attention to those activities and people who seem out of place”

(Canary notes you may find yourself doing the actual “EYES” and other BODY movements the terrorist do in order to carry out what DHS wants you to do as a good citizen for your community)

    (2) “Of course, the average person may experience excitement, fear, or panic, when confornted with something we should report.”

(Canary notes citizens again might display the same signs of a terrorists)

    (3) “It is likely our bodies are going to fight everything we do to remain calm and remember what is
required for a good report (fight or flight).”

    (4) “When we are not affected by these distractions, we may establish some habits that will allow us
to do the same when we are distracted.”

I’m sure terrorists practice being calm and smiling and acting nice before they push the button.

President Obama signs Executive Order allowing for control over all US resources

On March 16th, President Obama signed a new Executive Order which expands upon a prior order issued in 1950 for Disaster Preparedness, and gives the office of the President complete control over all the resources in the United States in times of war or emergency.

The National Defense Resources Preparedness order gives the Executive Branch the power to control and allocate energy, production, transportation, food, and even water resources by decree under the auspices of national defense and national security. The order is not limited to wartime implementation, as one of the order’s functions includes the command and control of resources in peacetime determinations.

    http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-.....eparedness

I believe this is routine government procedure, not a political ploy.

This Executive Order is similar to other EOs that have been issued by other presidents in the past to establish a special procurement framework for executive agencies under the Defense Production Act of 1950.

The DPA is an obscure Cold War statute that provides for mobilization of resources in case of war or national emergency. When its provisions are invoked, the DPA authorizes DoD to place orders with contractors that take priority over the business of private sector customers.

For example, railroads may be directed to divert rail cars away from their private shippers for priority transport of DoD military shipments.

Obama to visit Oklahoma, the only state, he has never visited, and Oklahoman’s aren’t happy.

The Examiner: Oklahoma reacts to Obama’s planned visit to the Sooner State

President Barack Hussein Obama is planning a visit to Cushing next Thursday, March 22nd, KWTV Channel 9 is reporting.

“I can’t believe he has the nerve to come to Oklahoma, especially to Cushing,” Matt Little, an unemployed oil field worker from Oklahoma City, said. “He screwed over Cushing and Oklahoma as well as the rest of the country when he said no to Keystone. Is he going to rub salt in the wound by shaking hands and lying to everyone about how hard he’s working to make things better?”

“I wouldn’t walk across the street to see him,” Sara Jennings, a mother of three from Moore, said. “Gas prices are through the roof and [Oklahoma] is sitting on tons of oil and he is bowing to a Saudi king….” .”

“It is a shame what Obama has done to Oklahoma and to our nation,” James Pilcher, a retired Army veteran from Oklahoma City, said. “….”

Carroll Evans, a supporter of Obama from Oklahoma City, said. “We have to look at the big picture and that is exactly what he is doing. He knows we have to do all we can to keep the peace in the Middle East and buying oil from them helps. And, the environmental issues – we have to protect our planet and stop drilling for oil.”

Obama’s visit to Cushing will be his first visit to Oklahoma. The format of the visit to Cushing is still unknown. He will also make a stop in Oklahoma City.

Daily Oklahoman: Oklahoma officials speak out about Obama’s 1st visit to Oklahoma

By Chris Castee Mar 16 2012

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama plans to visit Oklahoma next week, staying overnight in Oklahoma City on Wednesday and traveling the next day to the oil storage hub in Cushing, where he will talk about the administration’s record on energy.

Rep. James Lankford, R-Oklahoma City, said, “After single-handedly blocking the Keystone pipeline, it is audacious to now stand in Cushing to take credit for American energy production, as we can assume he will.

“I hope that Oklahomans can inform the president of the consequences of his previous energy decisions, and he can change his policy direction.”

OKGOP: Senator Inhofe Response to Obama OK Visit

      16 Mar 2012

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, today commented on President Obama’s upcoming visit to Cushing, Okla. ahead of the construction of a pipeline which will run from Cushing to the Gulf. President Obama plans to travel to Oklahoma City, Okla. on March 21 and to Cushing, Okla. on March 22.

“When President Obama visits Oklahoma in preparation for a new pipeline from Cushing to the Gulf, we hope that he will learn a thing or two about the benefits of using our own domestic oil and gas resources, especially as gas prices continue to skyrocket,” Inhofe said. “Unfortunately, we know his visit is little more than a campaign stop in an attempt to put a favorable spin on his dismal energy record, because current gas prices threaten his job. America has more domestic recoverable resources of oil, gas and coal than any country in the world, and developing these resources is the best way to revive our economy while bringing down prices at the pump. Yet, President Obama continues to wage an all-out attack on American fossil fuel development in his war on affordable energy. He keeps saying that oil and natural gas are the fuels of the past, but he is wrong. Oklahomans know they are very much the fuels of the present and the foreseeable future. The sooner he realizes this, the better.”

Inhofe has asked Chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee U.S. Sen. Boxer (D-Calif.) to hold a hearing in Cushing, Okla. on the subject of the proposed pipeline that is to run from Cushing to the Gulf, but has not received a definitive answer.

NewsMax: Gingrich: Obama Must Apologize for De Niro’s ‘White First Lady’ Remark

20 Mar 2012 By Martin Gould

Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich called on President Barack Obama Tuesday to apologize for Hollywood icon Robert De Niro’s comment that the country “isn’t ready for a white first lady.”

DeNiro made the remark at a New York City fundraiser on Monday attended by Michelle Obama. “Callista Gingrich. Karen Santorum. Ann Romney. Now do you really think our country is ready for a white first lady?” De Niro asked a cheering crowd of Democrats. “Too soon, right?”

“It was at an Obama fundraiser, it is exactly wrong, it divides the country.”

Gingrich compared De Niro’s comment to the controversy surrounding Rush Limbaugh calling a university student a “prostitute”…

As a Hollywood actor, he might well be shortsighted enough he doesn’t understand what it might do to our children and our grandchildren.”

Islamists seek influence in Syria uprising

By LEE KEATH, Associated Press; ZEINA KARAM, Associated Press

BEIRUT — The gunmen in eastern Syria, wielding grenade launchers and assault rifles, announced on the Internet they were forming the “God is Great” Brigade and joining the country’s rebellion. They swore allegiance to the Free Syrian Army and vowed to topple President Bashar Assad.

…The groups diverge from violent jihadi movements to political moderates like the Muslim Brotherhood, which has already used the Arab Spring revolutions to vault to power in Tunisia and Egypt elections.

Their growing influence is seeding divisions within an already fractured opposition. A week ago, several prominent figures quit the Syrian National Council, the body of exiles that has tried to emerge as the opposition’s political leadership. They complained the fundamentalist Brotherhood dominates the group.

The Wall Street Journal: Nokia Patents Vibrating Tattoos

By Ben Rooney Mar 20 2012

Nokia’s thinking is that in much the same way that you can have different ring tones for different callers, so too a future phone could emit a different magnetic field depending who is calling, or if your battery is running low, or you receive an SMS, for example.

It doesn’t have to be a tattoo; the application does talk about just a badge, but it is clear that some thought has been given to actually embedding this thing. There is a lot of talk about using “ink enriched by ferromagnetic or paramagnetic compounds” and how these would be applied.
