From CNN:

 Report: Climate change crisis 'catastrophic'

By Hilary Whiteman
CNN

LONDON, England (CNN) -- The first comprehensive report into the human cost of climate change warns the world is in the throes of a "silent crisis" that is killing 300,000 people each year.

More than 300 million people are already seriously affected by the gradual warming of the earth and that number is set to double by 2030, the report from the Global Humanitarian Forum warns.

...Around 45 million of the 900 million people estimated to be chronically hungry are suffering due to climate change, the report says. Within 20 years that number is expected to double. At the same time food production is expected to fall, driving food prices up 20%.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/europe/05/29/annan.climate.change.human/index.html

What a load of BS propaganda. What new made up statistics will the MSM parrot tomorrow?

Also, for the reality impaired readers in the MSM, the rise in food prices is do to the rise in oil prices. Which are sure to go higher as more and more governments go after oil as the cause of global warming. So I guess in a round about way the idea of global warming is pushing food prices higher.

......."Gibbs said he had “no reason to believe” any White House aide asked Sotomayor those questions either......."

Which, in truth, means somebody has DEFINITELY asked those questions and got the answer they wanted. Gibbs is a singularly unimpressive liar.

........Obama was “very comfortable with her interpretation of the Constitution being similar to that of his,” Gibbs said, declining to provide more specifics......

Once again, meaning there won't be a Souter-like double-cross to Obama once she's seated. He's got her word on it.

Associated Press: Sotomayor's views on abortion rights are unknown
By JULIE HIRSCHFELD DAVIS, Associated Press Writer Thu May 28,

WASHINGTON – One of the few things conservatives and liberals agree on when it comes to Sonia Sotomayor is that her views on abortion rights are a mystery — and one that must be solved before she can be confirmed as a Supreme Court justice.

She declined through a spokesman Thursday to comment further on the subject. The group is asking supporters to urge senators to ask Sotomayor about Roe and the right to privacy.

The White House edged carefully around the issue Thursday in an animated question-and-answer session in which reporters pressed to know whether President Barack Obama had ascertained Sotomayor's views before nominating her.

Obama was "very comfortable with her interpretation of the Constitution being similar to that of his," Gibbs said, declining to provide more specifics.

The White House says Obama didn't ask Sotomayor specifically about her view of Roe v. Wade or privacy rights, even though as a presidential candidate in 2007, he said, "I would not appoint somebody who doesn't believe in the right to privacy."

Gibbs said he had "no reason to believe" any White House aide asked Sotomayor those questions either.

In the latest such ruling — of major concern to abortion rights supporters — the court upheld a nationwide ban on a procedure its opponents call partial-birth abortion, a decision both sides said could pave the way for further restrictions. It was the first abortion ruling in which the court didn't require an exception to preserve a woman's health.

Associated Press writers David Crary and Ben Feller contributed to this report.

Wisconsin Right to Life Continues to Expose the Truth Behind the Madison Late-Term Abortion Plan
Third in a Series of Ads Appears Today in Wisconsin State Journal

Contact: Susan Armacost, Legislative Director, 877-855-5007, sarmacost@wrtl.org; Barbara L. Lyons, Executive Director, 877-855-5007, admin@wrtl.org; both with Wisconsin Right To Life

MEDIA ADVISORY, May 28 /Standard Newswire/ -- For the past two weeks, Wisconsin Right to Life has run ads in the Wisconsin State Journal that focus on the late-term abortion plan at the Madison Surgery Center. The ads are meant to educate the public about the realities associated with late-term abortions which involve the dismemberment of fully formed babies.

This week's ad, which appears today, exposes information contained in internal emails between various UW officials that were obtained through an open records request.

Among the shocking revelations is that most of the late-term abortions will be performed simply because a woman wants one and that UW officials hope the Obama administration will give them wiggle room to decide whether employees will be forced to participate in late-term abortions.

The entire ad can be viewed here. http://www.wrtl.org/pdf/WisconsinStateJournal_Ad3.pdf

"The public has a right to know exactly what is at stake with the late-term abortion plan" said Barbara Lyons, Executive Director of Wisconsin Right to Life. "Tens of thousands have already signed petitions protesting the late-term abortion plan and current and prospective patients have changed their appointments and even their health care away from the Madison Surgery Center. Now we are taking the message to the public."

Nowadays the only way to learn the facts is to read commentary. Walt Williams has a great summary of the key points in Thomas Sowell's new book about the housing "crisis":

 The Housing Boom and Bust

Hot off the press is my colleague Dr. Thomas Sowell's 43rd book, "The Housing Boom and Bust." The book is an eye-opener for anyone interested in the truth about the collapse of the housing market that played a major role in our financial market crisis.

The root of the problem lies in Washington. The Community Reinvestment Act of 1977, later given teeth during the Bush and Clinton administrations, forced financial institutions to make risky mortgage loans they otherwise would not have made. President Clinton's Attorney General Janet Reno threatened legal action against lenders whose racial statistics raised her suspicions. Bank loan qualification standards, in general, came under criticism as being too stringent regarding down payments, credit histories, and income. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, two government-sponsored enterprises, by lowering their standards for the kinds of mortgage paper they would purchase from banks and other mortgage lenders, gave financial institutions further incentive to make risky loans.

In 2002, the George W. Bush administration urged Congress to enact the American Dream Down Payment Assistance Act, which subsidized down payments of homebuyers whose income was below a certain level. Bush also urged Congress to pass legislation requiring the Federal Housing Administration to make zero-down-payment loans at low-interest rates to low income Americans. Between 2005 and 2007, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac acquired an estimated trillion-dollar's worth of subprime loans and guaranteed more than $2 trillion worth of mortgages. That, Sowell points out, is larger than the gross domestic product of all but four nations....

Sowell provides numerous examples of government actions at both the federal and state levels that created the housing boom and bust and its devastating impact on domestic and foreign financial markets, but here's what I don't get: What can be said about the intelligence of the news media and the American people who buy into to congressionally created lies that our problems were caused by Wall Street greed and Bush administration deregulation? In the words of Barney Frank, "We are in a worldwide crisis now because of excessive deregulation" and "mortgages made and sold in the unregulated sector led to the crisis." The fact of the matter is our financial sector is the most heavily regulated sector in our economy. In the banking and finance industries, regulatory spending between 1980 and 2007 almost tripled, rising from $725 million to $2.07 billion. I challenge anyone to come up with one thing banks can do that's not covered by a regulation.

For the Washington politicians to get away with spinning the financial crisis the way they have suggests that American people are either stupid or ignorant. I hope it's ignorance because "The Housing Boom and Bust" is the cure.

http://townhall.com/columnists/WalterEWilliams/2009/05/27/the_housing_boom_and_bust

The points about the Bush administration easing down payment requirement is one I hadn't heard before.

The summary omits the impact the Fed had by keeping interest rates artificially low. Perhaps that is covered in the book.

Another thing omitted here but which may be in the book, is the government pressure on financial institutions to spread the risk, which resulted in the creation of AIG's complex derivatives that spread the risk so far the entire system collapsed.

But the most interesting aspect of "the crisis" is the success the left has had lying about the causes and shifting 100% of the blame to Wall Street, when the truth is that 99% of the blame is the government's.

Sotomayor Ban Blonde Hair? Allowed prosecution of "Goldie Locks" & 3 Bears

Associated Press: NY judge rises from projects to the Supreme Court
By Associated Press Writer Larry Neumeister Wed May 27, 12:36 am ET
NEW YORK – Sonia Sotomayor's ascent to a U.S. Supreme Court nomination began in a Bronx housing project,...

As a district judge, she advanced First Amendment religious claims by tossing out a state prison rule banning members of a religious sect from wearing colored beads to ward off evil spirits,

and by rejecting a suburban law preventing the display of a 9-foot-high menorah in a park.

Sotomayor, who has a brother who became a doctor, presided over a civil trial in 1996 in which the family of a lawyer who died from AIDS sued the makers of the movie "Philadelphia," contending that Hollywood stole their story.

Sotomayor owns a condominium in Greenwich Village...since at least 1998, and took out a $350,000 mortgage from JPMorgan Chase Bank last fall,...

John Siffert, a New York lawyer who has been a friend and teaching partner of Sotomayor over the last 18 years, said she continues to teach inner-city children, in one case bringing a program to the courthouse that lets children prosecute Goldilocks from "The Story of the Three Bears."

Assoicated Press Writer Sharon Theimer in Washington contributed to this story.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090527/ap_on_re_us/us_sotomayor_profile

So, Now can we prosecute Obombie's "pasty blonde white" and "n" & "f" worded book book deal from public schools. How about his "brown kids" in schools.

John Siffert, a New York lawyer who has been a friend and teaching partner of Sotomayor over the last 18 years, said she continues to teach inner-city children, in one case bringing a program to the courthouse that lets children prosecute Goldilocks from “The Story of the Three Bears.”

Assoicated Press Writer Sharon Theimer in Washington contributed to this story.

So, Now can we prosecute Obombie’s “pasty blonde white” and “n” & “f” worded book book deal from public schools. How about his “brown kids” in schools.

Associated Press: Burris pleads on taped call for Senate appointment
By MIKE ROBINSON, Associated Press Writer Mike Robinson

CHICAGO – Sen. Roland Burris promised to "personally do something" for Rod Blagojevich's campaign fund while pressing for the then-Illinois governor to appoint him to President Barack Obama's former Senate seat, according to a wiretap transcript released Tuesday.

The remark came after Robert Blagojevich urged Burris to "keep me in mind and you know if you guys can just write checks that'd be fine, if we can't find a way for you to tie in."

"Okay, okay, well we, we, I, I will personally do something, okay," Burris says.

Earlier in the conversation, Burris and Robert Blagojevich explored the possibility that Burris might raise campaign money on a larger scale.

"I know I could give him a check," Burris said. "Myself."

"And therefore I can go off to, you know, wherever and do all these great things," Burris adds. He says that he has "been trying to figure out what the heck, you know, I can do."

"We've had a number of conversations about, you know, anything you might be able to do," Robert Blagojevich says a moment later.

"And God knows number one, I, I wanna help Rod," Burris says. "Number two, I also wanna, you know hope I get a consideration to get that appointment."

Burris gave the committee an affidavit denying any discussion with Blagojevich's aides before being offered the seat. But when he testified, Burris acknowledged talking to one of Blagojevich's friends and informal advisers about it.

Burris did not admit talking to anyone else and said he could not recall any other contacts.

"It is shame that small business is the hardest hit. "

It's deliberate and this is only the first step.

Big Facist Governments prefer Big Business.....they are easier to control than small businesses.

Moreover, small businesses pose other threats to the Facists. Small business owners are independent and have enough money to challenge authority. The businesses provide a supportive social framework for employees that helps them resist government edicts. And the businesses themselves are examples of individual success that prove people can succeed without government dependence.

For those reasons, I think we will see a concerted effort to destroy as many small businesses as possible. That's why you hear no response when people point out that Obamy's famous tax increase on "only" the upper 5% has small businesses in the bulls eye.

I took a ride down Hwy. 70 in NC from Raleigh to Cherry Point Memorial day, a trip I have made dozens of times. The thing that stood out the most was all the car dealerships that were closed. I counted over a dozen, of all brands of cars. It is shame that small business is the hardest hit. With all the billions spent on bailing out the big three, you think there would have been some money to help the dealerships stay afloat. Not that I was for them spending the money to begin with, but since they didn't consult me, it should have been done a little more effectively instead of going to pay off their Union allies.

Assoicated Press P Reports: NKorea test-fires 2 short-range missiles
By HYUNG-JIN KIM, Associated Press Writer Hyung-jin Kim

SEOUL, South Korea – North Korea launched tests Tuesday of two more short-range missiles a day after conducting a nuclear test, news reports said, pushing the regime's confrontation with world powers further despite the threat of U.N. Security Council action.

Two missiles — one ground-to-air, the other ground-to-ship — with a range of about 80 miles (130 kilometers) were test-fired Tuesday from an east coast launch pad, the Yonhap news agency and YTN television reported, citing unnamed South Korean officials.

South Korea's spy chief, Won Sei-hoon, had informed lawmakers earlier Tuesday that North Korea appeared to be preparing to test-fire more missiles, according to Park Young-sun, a legislator who attended the closed-door session.

Pyongyang also test-fired three short-range missiles Monday in the hours after conducting an underground nuclear test in the northeast, Yonhap said.

North Korea had threatened in recent weeks to carry out a nuclear test and fire long-range missiles unless the Security Council apologized for condemning Pyongyang's April 5 launch of a rocket the U.S., Japan and other nations called a test of its long-range missile technology.

Analysis: NKorea widens threat, limits US options
By ROBERT BURNS, AP National Security Writer Robert Burns, Ap National Security Writer

WASHINGTON –
The Obama administration, which said the North's action invited stronger, unspecified international pressure, has consistently called for Korean denuclearization but seemed not to have anticipated a deepening nuclear crisis.

Just two weeks ago, the administration's special envoy for disarmament talks with North Korea, Stephen Bosworth, said during a visit to Asian capitals that "everyone is feeling relatively relaxed about where we are at this point in the process."

One of the first estimates of the size of Monday's nuclear explosion came from the Russian defense ministry, which put the yield at between 10 and 20 kilotons — comparable to the U.S. bombs that flattened Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan in August 1945.

Graham Allison, an assistant secretary of defense in the Clinton administration and now director of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University, said Monday that the international community regularly underestimates North Korean leader Kim Jong Il's willingness to do the unexpected.

"Could this guy believe he could sell a nuclear bomb to Osama bin Laden?" Allison asked in a phone interview. "Why not?"

EDITOR'S NOTE — Robert Burns has covered national security affairs for The Associated Press since 1990.

Rich at Tax dollars expense. You tired of being "Bamboozled and Oakie Doked" Obama asked? In Acknowledgments, Obama states ",,,Michelle.. helped me arrive at many of the ideas reflected. Obama gives much credit to "Rachel...who understood what I was trying to accomplish with the book before I did, and has gently but firmly brought me into line whenever I strayed from my own voice and slipped into jargon, cant, or false sentiment."

So, blame many discrepentcies on Rachel and queen Michello.
After Obama ruins this country, they'll high tail it anywhere they want.
