The Christian Science Monitor: Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah promises $36 billion in benefits

by Caryle Murphy Feb 23 2011

As other leaders across the Middle East scurry to appease discontented citizens, the king introduced 19 new measures estimated to cost 135 riyals ($36 billion), according to John Sfakianakis, chief economist of Banque Sausi Fransi…. (Editor’s note: The original version of the story underestimated the cost of the measures.)

The WSJ: Second Suspected Syria Nuclear Site Is Found

IAEA inspectors visited eastern Syria in 2008 and reported that they recovered traces of processed uranium from a site called Dair Alzour, which the …

Trumka Supports Uncivil Vitriol In Protests

    From FOX News: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/02/27/union-chief-doesnt-condemn-comparisons-wisconsins-walker-hitler/

Union Chief Doesn’t Condemn Comparisons of Wisconsin’s Walker to Hitler

he head of one of the nation’s most powerful labor unions did not condemn the violent rhetoric in placards and signs held by union supporters demonstrating in Wisconsin despite two direct attempts Sunday to get him on the record declaring them inappropriate.

On several occasions over the past two weeks of demonstrations in the Wisconsin capital of Madison news media have zeroed in on signs that liken Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker to Nazi leader Adolf Hitler and recently ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

Appearing Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka was twice asked whether he found the tone at the nearly two-week long demonstrations “wrong” or “inappropriate.”

Trumka did not answer, instead saying, “We should be sitting down trying to create jobs. … In Wisconsin, a vast majority of the people think this governor has overreached. His popularity has gone down. They’re saying to him, sit down and negotiate; don’t do what you’ve been doing. So he’s losing.”

The facts are that Trumka’s “popularity” among the masses is dwindling, while Walker is seen as a man who must and is making the hard decisions. “Vast majority” as labeled by Trumka, means the public sector union members. The rest of the population is behind Walker to curtail ridiculous spending that they cannot afford. The money simply isn’t there. In fact, everything that Trumka says about the issue can be handily disputed.

As for his failing to comment on the question regarding civility, he knows that it’s the left’s most effective tool. Being a tool himself, he should know.

Canada Showcases How It WIll Be With Obamacare

    From FOX News: http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/02/27/canadian-hospital-reportedly-recieving-threats-baby-joseph/?test=latestnews

Canadian Hospital Reportedly Receiving Threats Over ‘Baby Joseph’

The Canadian hospital at the center of the “Baby Joseph” controversy finds itself on the receiving end of threats sent via email and phone calls, reported the Toronto Sun. Many of these threats have been said to come from the U.S.

The London Health Sciences Centre in London, Ontario, has since beefed up its security and issued a press release, which read: “We have urged our staff and physicians to report to us any concerns they have,” according to the article.

The hospital went on to say that it is working closely with police and have taken the “necessary steps” to protect its staff and physicians.

The uproar comes after Joseph Maraachli, 13 months old, who is currently kept alive by a respirator, was denied a transfer to a Michigan hospital to undergo a tracheotomy.

The boy suffers from a rare, progressive neurological disease which, Canadian doctors say, has left him in a vegetative state beyond recovery.

So, here you have, not an old, infirm, no-longer-able-to-work-to-pay-taxes senior citizen, but a 13 month old child who is never going to be able to produce a thing for the state. It is therefore academic that his life not be prolonged. The balance sheet proves it and he will never vote, let alone pay any taxes. He must therefore, die.

This is the face of centralized healthcare. I commend the parents for trying to prolong his life by going to the US. The denial of the Canadian government is testimony to the CONTROL that our own government would have over us as well.

The hospital did not comment in the report about the number of threats it received nor the security steps that were taken. But no individual has received a direct threat, said the London police Deputy Chief Ian Peer in the report.

“But frankly, would I be surprised if that happens? Not really,” he said. Police are investigating some of the threats he called serious enough they could break the law.

Many of the threatening comments have come from the U.S., Peer said.

“South of the border people seem to be quite emotional and happy to share their opinions.”

Yes, because we are a free people and not subject to the jackwagons of a socialist state.

A spokesman for Maraachli’s family told FoxNews.com the family is “working on an appeal” to the Michigan hospital’s decision. The hospital declined to comment on “any matters surrounding the case.”

Canadian health care allocation officials already ruled that Joseph had to be taken off life support and allowed to die in the hospital.

Healthcare allocation officials—-Bureaucrats. Probably not even doctors. The state. The big G. Controllers.

    • wardmama4 says:

No, no, no – The Canadian Healthcare system created this situation by intubating this child when he first suffered the first signs of this condition. He was terminal at that time. Both the healthcare professionals and the parents knew that as they had a previous child who died of the exact same condition. The parents aren’t denying much of this – other than they want the trach to be able to take the child home to die. The stupid Court decided against it because the Doctors said he might get an infection or it would be painful (he is terminal and in a vegetative state – that is just bs).

This is being twisted into a Shiavo case – et al – when it is simply parents (who do not live where the child was airlifted to) attempting to spend some time and allowing their child to just die slowly at home instead of in a hospital being choked to death when the breathing tube is removed at a time specified by the local healthcare system death panel and/or Court.

The Mom & other son live across the river from Detroit, the father has been living in London where they child was airlifted to – it would be a more feasible trip for them – then to the other side of the province, since this hospital refuses to do the trach.

healthcare allocation officials = death panels

Coming to America soon – If Obamacare is allowed to stand.

AFP: Russia vows to sell missiles to Syria

Feb 26 2011th by Dmitry Zaks.
MOSCOW (AFP) – Russia vowed Saturday to fulfil[sic] its contract to supply Syria with cruise missiles despite the turmoil shaking the Arab world and Israel’s furious condemnation of the deal.

Russia initially agreed to send a large shipment of anti-ship Yakhont cruise missiles to Syria in 2007 under the terms of a controversial deal that was only disclosed by Serdyukov in September 2010.

But Interfax cited one unnamed military source as saying that Russia had already sent Syria two Bastion coastal defence systems that can include up to 36 Yakhont missiles each.

…And this is understandable since Hezbollah has repeatedly used weapons that they received either from Lebanon or Syria.”

… Moscow may be also be covertly assisting Damascus’ nascent nuclear programme[sic].

But the same agency confirmed in May that Russia was in the process of supplying Syria with a less advanced fighter jet version — the Mig-29 — along with short-range air defence[sic] systems and various armoured[sic] vehicles.

read the rest to include Israel’s fear.

Pentagon decides to wear proreason’s tinfoil hat:

“Financial terrorism suspected in 2008 economic crash – Pentagon study sees element”

“…“There is sufficient justification to question whether outside forces triggered, capitalized upon or magnified the economic difficulties of 2008,” the report says, explaining that those domestic economic factors would have caused a “normal downturn” but not the “near collapse” of the global economic system that took place…

“There were outside players in the market” for unregulated credit default swaps, Mr. Bracken said in an e-mail. “Foreign banks and hedge funds play the shorts all the time too. But suggestions of an organized targeted attack for strategic reasons don’t seem to me to be plausible.”…

Officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said senior Pentagon policymakers, including Michael Vickers, an assistant defense secretary in charge of special operations, blocked further study,…

The report states that federal authorities must further investigate two significant events in the months leading up to the financial crisis.

The first phase of the economic attack, the report said, was the escalation of oil prices by speculators from 2007 to mid-2008 that coincided with the housing finance crisis.

In the second phase, the stock market collapsed by what the report called a “bear raid” from unidentified sources on Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and other Wall Street firms.

“This produced a complete collapse in credit availability and almost started a global depression,” Mr. Freeman said.

The third phase is what Mr. Freeman states in the report was the main source of the economic system’s vulnerability. “We have taken on massive public debt as the government was the only party who could access capital markets in late 2008 and early 2009,” he said, placing the U.S. dollar’s global reserve currency status at grave risk.

“This is the ‘end game’ if the goal is to destroy America,” …

Another economic warfare tool that was linked in the report to the 2008 crash is what is called “naked short-selling” of stock, defined as short-selling financial shares without borrowing them.

The report said that 30 percent to 70 percent of the decline in stock share values for two companies that were attacked, Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers, were results of failed trades from naked short-selling.

The collapse in September 2008 of Lehman Brothers, the fourth-largest U.S. investment bank, was the most significant event in the crash, causing an immediate credit freeze and stock market crash, the report says.”

Would it be uncivil of me to suggest that the “30 percent to 70 percent” decline happened just in time to elect the boy king? The report also discusses the manipulation of the oil market, which also happened just in time to elect the boy king. The report does not mention that both of them started THE VERY DAY MCCAIN TOOK THE LEAD in the Gallup poll for the first time, following the Republican convention. Nor does the report mention that their were at least six once-in-a-lifetime events that occured in Sept and Oct of 2008, not a single one of which has been the subject of an iota of curiosity by the msm.

Note that the investigation has already been squelched, just as the SEC investigation that started in late 2008 disappeared into lala land once Obamy was annointed. Of course, we wouldn’t want the trail to lead back to George Soros, Goldman Sachs or any other players who have profited beyond any level of previous human greed by little lenin’s election…both in money, political power, and in advancing the causes of marxism and fascism

But I’m ok with this. I just had a conversation yesterday with a libwit friend who is very knowledgable about economic matters, and he assured me once again that 2008 was just a series of random events. That’s the script, you see…the one that will be written in history, along with the greed of unspecified capitalist bankers (probably Jewish, but certainly not Soros or GS). My friend also assured me that Soros’ conviction for market manipulation in late 2008 was totally unrelated. See how easy it is to explain things that have never happened in the course of human history?

Great post Pro. I mean, if they’re finally going to acknowledge the premise that it was financial terrorism, the next obvious question is “who benefitted?”

Blaming it on faceless foreign banks and capitalist entities is entirely a diversionary tactic first employed by the Democrats former chief spokesperson on the 2008 collapse, Alan Grayson. Yet, as you’ve pointed out, the authors of the crash have all but chiseled generic Western Greed into the history books, and are stonewalling any further inquiries as irrationally as if you were a global warming denier.

“Sidney Hook once said that those who make survival the supreme value are declaring that there is nothing they will not betray. Professor Hook’s statement could be amended and updated: American presidents who declare that they will bow to the demands of dictators who threaten American citizens are declaring that there is nothing they will not betray. For those who were disturbed by President Obama’s diffidence in the face of Qaddafi’s wickedness, it’s worse than you think. The ramifications of Mr. Obama’s actions will outlive whatever happens in Tripoli.”

    Frankly, I disagree.

It’s clear to me that the boy kings foreign policy is based exclusively on whether or not he wants or doesn’t want a distraction.

During the Iran uprising in early 2009, little lenin had the lips of the adoring press firmly attached to his body parts and certainly didn’t want a distraction for the adoraion. Ergo….Iran might as well have not happened.

During the Egyptian uprising, the Republics had the ear of the public because of the pending budget crisis, so a little foreign distraction was not only welcome, the boy king stirred the pot, in different directions, for a couple of weeks.

But during the Libya thing, the mocha menace has his union thugs prancing in front of camers 24 hours a day, and he certainly doesn’t want to distract from that wonderfulness. Ergo, Libya lingers while the lives of Americans are at risk and while tens of thousands of Libyans are likely to die.

It’s all about Obama, all the time.

    • tranquil.night says:

This is a trend I’ve noted being used with increasing frequency since the Koran burning incident, although undoubtedly used prior.

In that case and since, the media circus has been so rapacious that in several situations they’ve actually made the circumstances exponentially worse. I’m convinced, like you, that it’s because of this artificial need to drum up crisis. To distract from some power grab, terrible economic news, or just dissuade Tea Party political momentum and clear the field of the previously established narratives (which they’ve pretty much all lost at that point) for a new cycle.

And the Middle East? Let’s not get started with what Google or other Crony ObamaCorp fingerprints there are in what sparked in Tunisia and Egypt. Or that the global Liberal’s Media was covering the Egyptian “Democracy Movement” (or any other infant protest – so long as it’s in a country traditionally allied with us) when it was supposedly 250k strong, but really only 15-20k.

The media will focus on any template that doesn’t have to do with Obama’s failing policies. Obama will react to the media’s focus. Typically, this combination means the issue will get much worse. Good for them. More time to distract from previous failures.

This continues until the overwhelming consensus is that Obama is also failing on the current issue. Then, the media will suddenly lose interest, just in time for some new crisis that’s been festering out there to explode. Rinse and repeat, with the consequences and chaos escalating and becoming more dire each time.. and down the spiral we continue to go.

The NYC UN building will become The Court of Madhaalim …

…An ideal place for such a court in the Islamic State of America would be the obselete United Nations Headquarters based in New York. … However the buildings, originally completed in 1952 and spanning an 18-acre site on the East side of Manhattan would be an ideal location to host the Islamic Court….

…The site is currently managed by member states of the United Nations and has its own security force, flags of all member states are displayed outside the main buildings. These will promptly be removed and the authority of the Islamic state will be clearly laid down, …

The united nations, their members, security forces, fire department and postal service will all be evicted and the Islamic Court could likely hold its first International War Crimes Trial almost immediately.

…As former dictators of the Muslim world are already familiar with frequenting these buildings to visit their American masters, they – as well as the US, UK and Israeli leaders – can return to these buildings to stand trial for their acts of tyrrany, terrorism, war crimes, torture, kidnap and murder committed against Muslims around the world…. cannot escape justice…

    The White Masjid

….One of the primary targets for immediate reconstruction in the US is the White House; originally designed by Irish architect James Hoban, this building holds significant symbolic value in representing centuries of repression under man-made law.

Unlike the British burning of Washington, one of the practical proposals for the redevelopment of the White House under Islam will be to see it converted into a flourishing mosque….

…and hence the conversion of the White House into one will undoubtedly help restore the iconic status that this building has in the Shari’ah.

The Islamic Demolition of the Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty, designed by Frederic Bartholdi, stands on Liberty Island in New York Harbor; representing Libertas, the Roman (false) goddess of Freedom, it is symbolic of the rebellious nature of the US constitution that elevates the command of man over the command of God.

… In Islam, the public veneration of idols and statues is strictly prohibited. This has forced sincere Muslims to develop realistic plans that will aid in the removal of the Statue of Liberty.

Due to the scale of the task at hand, it is highly likely that rigorous safety checks will need to be employed before the demolition of the Statue of Liberty can commence; thus as a temporary measure, it is proposed that a large burkha is used to cover the statue, thereby shielding this horrendous eye sore from public view as well as sending a strong message to its French creators.

Post demolition, it is recommended that a minaret be built as a fitting replacement,…

plans within 24 hours of take over

a)…All the banking organizations based on usury i.e. riba will be closed, their accounts will be terminated and the principle sums without interest will be returned to their owners. Banks will be replaced by the Bait ul Maal.

b)…. Some companies at present operate in areas which are recognised as public property in Islam such as oil, gas, minerals, etc. Islam considers that these properties cannot be owned by individuals or private companies and will therefore be placed under the control of the state. The original investment however will be returned to the companies. The state may then allow the companies to continue to work in the areas they have built up as an excuse on a shariah basis but must work as agents of the state on behalf of the nation.

    c)
Public utilities such as electricity and railways will be terminated from private companies and put under the control of the Khilafah.

2).All treaties or promises made by the previous government will be terminated because it is forbidden for Muslims to be in a party or organisations against Islam. All the current international organizations like the United Nations, The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund are founded on Kufr (disbelief) and are against Islam. Allah (swt) indicates:

“…for judgement in their disputes to the evil one (taghout). Though they have been ordered to reject.” (4:60)

So Allah (swt) has made it clear, that whoever puts his case for judgement to the evil hand, e.g. the U.N, U.S, UK, International law or the International Court of Justice is not a real Muslim, he only claims to be one.

Other regional organisations like the Arab league, The Organization of Islamic Conferences or other defence treaties are also forbidden. Whereas Islam demands that all the Muslims are united under one state i.e. the Khilafah …

03a)The relationship with other Muslim countries is to be considered as domestic affairs. The Khilafah will never recognise them as separate countries. All existing embassies in Muslim ‘countries’ will be closed. These territories must be united with the Khilafah under the flag of the Khilafah…

b)All other countries in the world, east to west are considered to be Dar al Kufr ( The domain of disbelief) and Dar al Harb ( The domain of war). Relationships with them are dictated by what Jihad demands…

c.)It is allowed for the state to establish with some counties ‘friendship treaties’ and other treaties that Islam allows to facilitate the call of Islam, provided that the Khilafah sees them to be in the benefit of the nation…

d)….States with whom we do not have treaties are to be considered as potential enemies and all precautions must be taken against them. This would be the case with states like the Britain, Russia, and France. The Islamic State will not establish diplomatic relationships with them…

e)….Countries we are at war with such as Israel must be confronted with Jihad….

f.)… It is forbidden for the Islamic state to enter into any kind of joint military operation such as NATO. It is also forbidden for any Muslims to fight under the flag of Kufr, to shed blood for the disbelievers, to protect a disbelieving country or give the upper hand to the disbelievers such as King Abdullah’s and Musharraf’s treacherous alliance with the Americans allowing them to enter Muslim land.

1)… was established and the Islamic sentence had not been passed, the state will judge the case and the sentence will be passed according to Shari’ah….

The Islamic State: 24 Hours after Implementation

    1. How will the state deal with economic contracts entered into before the establishment of the state?

    a. Banking Organizations

All the banking organizations based on usury i.e. riba will be closed, their accounts will be terminated and the principle sums without interest will be returned to their owners. Banks will be replaced by the Bait ul Maal.

    b)…

The state may then allow the companies to continue to work in the areas they have built up as an excuse on a shariah basis but must work as agents of the state on behalf of the nation.

c)….ompanies working in areas of private property and which are therefore legitimate will be examined to see if the company contracts are lawful in Islam. If the contracts are unlawful then the companies will be terminated.

d)….public utilities such as electricity and railways will be terminated from private companies and put under the control of the Khilafah.

    2. …All treaties or promises made by the previous government will be terminated because it is forbidden for Muslims to be in a party or organisations against Islam. Countries we are at war with such as Israel must be confronted with Jihad. Their citizens are prevented from entering the Khilafah. Islam obliges all Muslims to fight them until the land is liberated.

f.)It is forbidden for the Islamic state to enter into any kind of joint military operation such as NATO…, to shed blood for the disbelievers, to protect a disbelieving country or give the upper hand to the disbelievers such as King Abdullah’s and Musharraf’s treacherous alliance with the Americans…

    Welfare in the Islamic State

The job of the Khalif (ruler of the Islamic state) is to manage the affairs of the people, therefore he is accountable for the welfare of every single citizen under his authority,…provision of basic needs….
…; rather it is a divine right that is permanent.

The 12th century Muslim scholar Ibn Hazm explained the rights of the citizens mentioned in the hadith above as follows:….

Thus the state would assess each and every household, establishing their needs according to the size of the family, their age etc. Anything that is beyond the basic food, clothing or shelter would be considered a luxury, which would be up to each individual to obtain if they wish. These would include things like televisions, washing machines and other appliances….

The state would also supply the gas and electricity needs of each individual household. Any usage above the basic daily requirement would be charged for. The Prophet Muhammad (saw) said “Humans have a right to three things: water, green pastures and fire based fuels”.

In addition the sate is also obliged to provide free healthcare and medicine so there will be no prescription charges. Education is also the responsibility of the state and will therefore be provided free of charge.

The wealth of the state would be distributed and shared amongst its citizens. It would not be kept by the members of the government neither would they have priority over it, unlike the corrupt regimens in Muslim countries today like the Saudi Royal Family… Throughout most of its rule, it was immensely wealthy and its citizens enjoyed prosperity. During the reign of Al-Ma’mun, as part of his wedding celebrations,…..

The Islamic welfare system would eliminate the problem of homelessness and poverty that we find in Britain today. … poverty would not exist, where the pressure of paying energy bills would disappear, where there would be no mortgage payments or rent to worry about and everyone would own their own home. Islam can offer this and much more. The Khilafah is the divine alternative for Britain today.

No one has Islamophobia. They really are trying to kill us. And my how they worship their buildings of statues of mushrooms with points on top.

And to think Obama at his muslim assembly in D.C. publicly praised the new 99 Stones super hero cartoon. It shows the statue of liberty turned into a mosque. Burning of gas hog cars. And I found by studying the muslim religion that the 99 really stands for something else totally different than the muslim producer saying it was in honor of 9/11, only the producer said he spinned it 9×11.
I think this explains the possibility of them moving their ground zero mosque. Something about the East to the East and the West to the West b.s.

there were many spelling errors I didn’t [sic]. We’ll be forced to speaking Arabic anyways unless our tongues are cut out.

1980s gear harms troops – By: U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe – Monday, February 28, 2011

As the world rang in 2011, I led a congressional delegation to visit our troops in the Middle East and Afghanistan. While there, I saw firsthand the challenges that our men and women in uniform face. Sometimes those challenges aren’t just the enemy they’re fighting. Sometimes the outdated and aging equipment they are fighting with is working against them.

The fact is, cutting defense funding while our servicemen and -women are engaged globally in combat operations jeopardizes our long-term national security. It is also true that the Defense Department must ensure every taxpayer dollar is spent efficiently and effectively.

With few exceptions, our soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines are using major combat systems developed and bought in the 1980s — even, in some cases, the 1950s. That is unacceptable for the finest fighting force in the world.

The Army’s current fleet of combat vehicles was developed and procured 30 to 60 years ago, and is aging at an increasingly rapid rate. Our ships and naval aircraft are, on average, 19 years old. The aircraft used by our Air Force and Marine Corps are, on average, 22 years old. Our air-refueling tankers are more than 45 years old, and our bomber aircraft, more than 34.

Few cars from the 1980s are still on the road today. Even fewer from the 1950s. Yet this is the equipment we expect our armed forces to use while defending this nation.

Defense spending cuts are partly to blame for the problems we face. In the 1990s, there were those of us in Congress who repeatedly warned about the dangers of the massive cuts in personnel and procurement taking shape. More recently, since 2009, I have watched the Obama administration take our military down a dangerous path of less investment and fewer resources.

The result has been to force the military services to accept more risk as they decide how to operate with less equipment, how to fight with equipment that’s increasingly difficult to maintain and what to do when weapons systems reach the end of their service life without an operational replacement.

As the military focuses resources on funding current combat operations, cuts to our defense budget directly affect the development and procurement of new systems, training and combat readiness and the cost of operating and sustaining our aging military.

For the past 17 years, our forces have been fighting multiple contingencies worldwide with equipment that is decades old and a force structure that is 40 percent smaller than it was in the 1980s. The Air Force has 2,500 fewer aircraft. The Navy cut its fleet in half. The Army has half the number of divisions it had for the first Gulf War.

Doing more with less is taking its toll on our troops and their equipment.

An acquisition process desperately in need of reform is also to blame. Too much money and time have been wasted trying to procure weapons and equipment for our troops.

There can be no shortcuts when it comes to our national defense. What took this nation less than a decade to field in the 1980s is now likely to take it multiple decades to replace. For example, it will take the KC-X up to 30 years to replace our KC-135s, which are already more than 40 years old.

We are at war with a determined enemy whose sole focus is our destruction. For the foreseeable future, the global stage will remain volatile and uncertain.

U.S. national security will continue to be challenged by state and nonstate actors, as our servicemen and -women are called on to deploy around the globe, protecting our national interest and responding to crises both manmade and natural.

Our military must be prepared for a full spectrum of operations. Congress and the Defense Department must work together to increase effectiveness and efficiency. But at the same time, they must ensure that our defense resources are sufficient for combat capabilities across the spectrum of warfare. Our national security is the price we pay if we do not get this right.

Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) is a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

So, much for Obama’s promise before, and Michelle’s promise after winning election; promises to get our troops the equipment they need, and lighten their burden. At least the Brit troops are getting beef jerky now.

God Bless our U.S. Troops & Pray for them.
