Focus is on Ill. Tax Hike after CME Threatens Move

by Deanna Bellandi, 10 June 2011

The suggestion by the owner of two major futures exchanges in Chicago that it could move jobs out of Illinois because of the state’s business tax casts another spotlight on the unpopular increase Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn said was necessary to help rescue the state’s finances.

CME Group, which owns the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Board of Trade, said this week it is studying a possible relocation. The announcement comes just a couple months after manufacturing giant Caterpillar Inc. in central Illinois said it had been courted by other states. Caterpillar has since said it is staying put.

    * * *

Dealing with a massive budget deficit, Illinois raised its corporate tax rate in January from 4.8 percent to 7 percent and the personal income tax rate from 3 percent to 5 percent. That enticed other states, including New Jersey, Indiana and Wisconsin, to try to poach Illinois businesses.

    * * *

Last year, Illinois agreed to give $272.7 million in tax breaks and other incentives to 67 companies that were courted by other states to move their jobs elsewhere, according to state records. This year the promised incentives … are likely to surpass last year’s total.

    * * *

“I don’t think anybody likes paying taxes, but that’s the price of having a [socialist] democracy,” [Quinn] said.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said he … was “confident” the exchanges would stay in Chicago. He did not elaborate.

    * * *

Illinois Chamber of Commerce chief Doug Whitley said it’s not good enough for Illinois government to try to craft incentive packages for businesses after the state raised their taxes.

“Politicians need to pay attention to what employers are thinking. There are economic consequences to political decisions that they sometimes ignore,” Whitley said.

The Democrat Party will always do what it does best –– use the power of government to clamp down hard on every economic activity, and then “spread the wealth around.”

And of course they will blame businesses for not providing jobs, when the businesses move to a friendlier State or country.

Also note how freely Illinois has doled out special exemptions. But exemptions are oh-so-yesterday. The new flavor of the month is to find a faceless Party functionary in some government agency who will issue an order to stop the business from moving (think Boeing).

iAfica: Michelle Obama heads to SA
    19 Jun 2011 12:04

US First Lady Michelle Obama begins a six-day visit to southern Africa on Monday where she will meet anti-apartheid leaders and highlight the spread of democracy on the continent.

She will be accompanied by her two daughters, Malia and Sasha, but not her husband, on a trip that the White House says will focus on “youth leadership, education, health and wellness.”

The first lady will also be traveling with her mother, Marian Robinson, and two nephews.

After meeting Nompumelelo Ntuli-Zuma, the wife of South African president Jacob Zuma, on Tuesday, Obama will visit the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Johannesburg, where she will be given a tour by Graca Machel, the former first lady of Mozambique and now wife of former South African president Nelson Mandela.

Rhodes said the anti-apartheid struggle was “an inspiration to both South Africans and people across the continent, but of course so many people across the United States as well.”

He noted that President Obama has spoken repeatedly about the anti-apartheid movement, which he has called his first political cause.

“There’s obviously a deep connection that the Obamas feel to the South African experience,” Rhodes said.

During her visit to the port city, Obama will meet Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who received the Nobel Prize in 1984, 10 years before the fall of the apartheid regime.

President Obama, whose father was Kenyan, has visited sub-Saharan Africa once since he took office, with a trip to Ghana in July 2009.

He has called on the continent to take charge of its own destiny and fight anti-democratic tendencies there.

Paris Hilton? Now there is an intellectual and egotistical match.

Who is paying for the sidekicks on this trip? I have to imagine we will see more of these trips crammed in while Moochelle can still spirit her daughters around on the taxpayer’s back. Wonder if she will be dictating what foods are supposed to be on their nutritional plates as well…

    • Petronius says:

“After meeting Nompumelelo Ntuli-Zuma, the wife of South African president Jacob Zuma ….”

Jacob Zuma of course has four wives. Also two fiancées and several concubines. There is no apparent reason why the Empress Armtonia and her entourage should single out Nompumelelo (currently wife #3) for this special honor. Most curious indeed.

Zuma himself must certainly rank among the most despicable (even by African standards) rulers on the planet –– a rapist, gangster, and communist. But then rape, gangsterism, and communism are practically the national sports of South Africa these days.

Perhaps during her celebrations of the anti-apartheid struggle, the Empress Armtonia might inquire what is being done about the torture-murders of Boer farmers, some 3,000 of whom have been massacred to date. Or would that be in bad taste?

Of course who cares what happens to them? Their roles are played out and they’re all headed for the slaughterhouse. Somehow I doubt that they figure into that “deep connection that the Obamas feel to the South African experience.”

    • Liberals Demise says:

It’s pretty obvious that most of Africa is run by despots and terrorists, from the top of the continent to the bottom. But you’re only a terrorist or a despot in South Africa if you are a Boer or an Englishman. SA took their freedom from apartheid and turned themselves into an uneducated, stupid nation unwilling to take responsibility to educate, to uplift or to bring themselves out of economic ruin. Just how do the Obamas feel a “deep connection” to the SA experience? Maybe their mutual brainwashing.

Video scene BBC reporter NATO missed target & admit they make mistakes when bombing.

Libya crisis: Nato probes ‘civilian deaths’ in attack

    Jeremy Bowen June 19 2001

Nato is investigating Libyan government claims that it bombed a residential area of the capital, Tripoli, killing several civilians.

Nato says a surface-to-air missile site in northern Tripoli was successfully hit overnight, but it has previously admitted mistakes in targeting.

When journalists arrived at the site, rescue workers and local men were digging through the rubble, mostly with their bare hands, looking for survivors or bodies. The destroyed buildings were in Souk al-Juma, a residential area, about a mile from a military airfield which has often been targeted by Nato.

Nato’s mandate is to protect civilians. More questions now seem likely about what Nato is doing in Libya and what it is achieving – not least by Nato members who never agreed with the operation.

Nato spokesman Wing Cdr Mike Bracken told the BBC he did not know the exact location of the building Libyans accuse the alliance of hitting.

“Nato deeply regrets any losses of civilian life during [the Libya] operation, and it would be very sorry indeed if a review of this incident concludes it was a Nato operation,” said Wing Cdr Bracken.

“Our pilots and air crew go to great lengths to minimalise civilian risk, but ultimately you can never make that risk zero in a military campaign.

He was then taken to a Tripoli hospital where he was shown the bodies of two men, a woman and two babies reportedly killed in the alleged strike.

Libyan government spokesman Moussa Ibrahim said: “Nato is planting the seed of hatred in the hearts of Libyan people for years to come.”

Nato has flown more than 11,000 sorties since operations began, including almost 4,400 strike attacks against government targets across Libya.

Having initially been given 90 days – which would have run out on 27 June – the mission has been extended for a further 90 days.

Jewish court sentences dog to death by stoning 6/17/11
A Jerusalem rabbinical court condemned to death by stoning a dog it suspects is the reincarnation of a secular lawyer who insulted the court’s judges 20 years ago, Ynet website reported on Friday……

According to Ynet, the large dog made its way into the Monetary Affairs Court in the ultra-Orthodox Jewish neighbourhood of Mea Shearim in Jerusalem, frightening judges and plaintiffs.

Despite attempts to drive the dog out of the court, the hound refused to leave the premises.

One of the sitting judges then recalled a curse the court had passed down upon a secular lawyer who had insulted the judges two decades previously.

Their preferred divine retribution was for the lawyer’s spirit to move into the body of a dog, an animal considered impure by traditional Judaism.

Clearly still offended, one of the judges sentenced the animal to death by stoning by local children.

    • Illusions says:

Save the dog, put the idiot judge in its place.

    • Melly says:

Animals are not respected very much over there. The Palestinian freedom fighters (aka terrorists) use donkeys to haul explosives to Israeli military posts and are then detonated. The Israelis use dogs, wired with explosives to go behind enemy lines and are then blown up by remote control. And let’s not even explore how we treat(ed) dogs during military actions going back to WWI. This story is purely about the dog – not to condemn the Jewish religion. PETA (I know, I know….) issued a statement on Thursday: “By sentencing an innocent animal to a painful death for such an absurd reason, this rabbinical court has not only completely discredited itself but also violated tza’ar ba’alei chayim (“the suffering of living creatures”) — one of the most important principles in Judaism.”

A damning indictment of the White House’s spineless foreign policy: Barack Obama gets the Kremlin’s vote for 2012
By Nile Gardiner World Last updated: June 20th, 2011

When Hillary Clinton famously called for a “reset” of Washington’s relations with Moscow back in March 2009, she should have used the more accurate term, “surrender”. From caving in to Russian demands to scrap plans for Third Site missile defenses in eastern and central Europe to signing on to the New START Treaty, US policy towards Russia under the Obama administration has been one wretched give away after another, even stretching as far as handing over sensitive information on Britain’s nuclear deterrent.

Is it any wonder that Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is now openly calling for Barack Obama’s re-election? In an extraordinary interview with The Financial Times, the Russian leader gives a glowing account of his US counterpart, in a direct intervention in US domestic politics 16 months ahead of the November 2012 presidential election. Here is what Medvedev said to the FT’s interview team:

Nothing lasts forever in this world. Our relations have improved, and I think this is owing to the efforts of the new [US] administration and personally president Obama, with whom I am friends. It is easy for me to work with him. If a different person becomes US president, he might have a different agenda.
One wonders with this glowing endorsement if Rubles will find their way into the Obama re election coffers.

National security experts blast attorney general’s claim that lawyers are America’s ‘most effective terror-fighting weapon’

Centrist and right-of-center national security experts reacted with contempt to Attorney General Eric Holder’s claim at a legal convention that the courts are the nation’s “most effective terror-fighting weapon.”

“That’s utter nonsense … it is simply lunatic,” said Ralph Peters, military analyst, author and former soldier. In the war against the jihadis, he said, the courts “have been totally ineffective when they’re not outright destructive.”

“He’s unconsciously shilling for his own profession,” said Michael Rubin, a Middle East expert at the American Enterprise Institute. “Holder, like many ambitious bureaucrats, wants to build a bureaucratic empire … [and] by doing so, he will get Americans killed.”

On Sunday, Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell added his voice to the criticism. “The attorney general said the other night our biggest weapon in the war on terror was the U.S. civilian court system,” he said on CBS’ Face The Nation. “ I don’t know what planet he’s living on.”

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

      “ I don’t know what planet he’s living on.”

At least some people are willing to say it out loud. I note that, at least so far, there was no “racism” backlash though I’m sure that’s starting to steep; I can see the steam coming off of it.

Rick Perrry’s speech in NO was a breath of fresh air and the info-babe saying she “felt like an alien” was most comforting. It’s very true that socialists and conservatives think entirely differently but the socialist thinks in useless abstracts while the conservative thinks in terms based on ancestral experience, practicality and reasonableness. Sure, it’s always nice to dream but no matter how hard you want something to be true, reality is usually very different.

Spend all our money on “green” projects and after it’s all gone, we’ll still find ourselves needing to stay warm in the winter, having to buy food or grow it and drive our cars to work. Science-Fiction on television is great at laying out an alternative reality but here on the real planet Earth, there are bad people who aren’t as easy to get rid of as a scripted alien being on a TV show. Oddly, the script-writers who are so good at describing evil are so poor at recognizing it for real.

Taxes can do amazing things; Save lives even, get things built and repaired. But turning the system on its ear to meet a “need” for more wealth distribution is bad. Any five-year-old can understand the concept and would protest. Why then, does our socialist government feel compelled to ramp up taxes when all it will accomplish is the lessening of overall wealth that the people can use? (rhetorical)

I submit again, that let’s just suppose that there were no conservatives….and that the socialists got everything they wanted, without having to lie to the people and play little games of subterfuge to accomplish it. What then? You’d have the USSR, 1965. From the moment you were born, your life would be mapped out for you; No decisions to make, no dreams/goals to achieve….easy, right? But if you were born handicapped….you would be of no use to the proletariat and relegated to a “special home”. Or if you didn’t want to do the job the government decided you were best suited for…you would go to prison—for life. And, because there would be no incentive for medical innovation, the science of medicine would stop dead in its tracks and no advancements would be made ever again. Yup, USSR, 1965. No new doctors, unless the government told them to be and they would be uninterested in helping anyone unless they were a government functionary and to not help them would be punished.

Honestly….socialists…..you really think it would be so much better? Then in your arrogant, looking-down-your-nose-at-me because I apparently am “too stupid” to understand, way…Why is it that you fail to comprehend the lessons of China, North Korea, Cuba, Brazil, Argentina, Greece, Spain, and on and on. How are their lives better than ours, which are as free as they are because of this document called the Constitution?

When you have a government that can give you all that you need, it will be the government that will take away all that you want.

    CNN’s Fareed Zakaria

We all know how Americans revere the constitution, so I was struck by the news that tiny, little Iceland is actually junking its own constitution and starting anew using an unusual – some would say innovative – mechanism.

The nation decided it needed a new constitution and it’s soliciting ideas from all of Iceland’s 320,000 citizens with the help of Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. This social media method has worked. Ideas have been flowing in. Many have asked for guaranteed, good health care. Others want campaign finance systems that make corporate donations illegal. And some just want the country to make shark finning illegal.

Sounds like someone is pushing the Obama agenda. And who says social media method has worked? Show me one piece of evidence to support your claim. Also, letting the unwashed, union educated dolts of America pick what goes in the Constitution, such a “free healthcare,” is the epitome of a bad idea.

…But there are surely some issues that still need to be debated and fixed.

The electoral college, for example, is highly undemocratic, allowing for the possibility that someone could get elected as president even if he or she had a smaller share of the total national vote than his opponent.

The structure of the Senate is even more undemocratic, with Wisconsin’s six million inhabitants getting the same representation in the Senate as California’s 36 million people. That’s not exactly one man, one vote.

Apparently Mr. Zakaria is as ignorant of the purpose of a bicameral legislature as he is of the importance of an unbiased media.

It’s not just McKinsey suggesting Obamacare is a mess
    Jun 20, 2011 16:34 EDT

Consulting firm McKinsey kicked up a hornet’s nest with these recent findings:
The Congressional Budget Office has estimated that only about 7 percent of employees currently covered by employer-sponsored insurance (ESI) will have to switch to subsidized-exchange policies in 2014. However, our early-2011 survey of more than 1,300 employers across industries, geographies, and employer sizes, as well as other proprietary research, found that reform will provoke a much greater response.

    · Overall, 30 percent of employers will definitely or probably stop offering ESI in the years after 2014.

    · Among employers with a high awareness of reform, this proportion increases to more than 50 percent, and upward of 60 percent will pursue some alternative to traditional ESI.

    · At least 30 percent of employers would gain economically from dropping coverage even if they completely compensated employees for the change through other benefit offerings or higher salaries.

    · Contrary to what many employers assume, more than 85 percent of employees would remain at their jobs even if their employer stopped offering ESI, although about 60 percent would expect increased compensation.

[UK] Hospital gives elderly patients a TAMBOURINE to call nurses (and maracas in case it breaks) 6/21/11
(“I shook instrument for 16 minutes and no one came,” claims one patient’s son)

A hospital has apologised to elderly patients and their families after giving them a tambourine to call for nurses in an emergency.

The tambourine was put in the isolated day room in a hospital wing after elderly patients feared nurses would not hear any cries for help.

It was the only emergency call system for patients using the room in the West Wing of Cardiff Royal Infirmary.

NHS staff had previously placed a hand bell in the room, but it was too heavy for patients to lift.

One furious relative claimed a pair of maracas had also been placed in the room in case the tambourine broke.

He said: ‘It is ridiculous. These people are pensioners, not members of the Monkees or Mick Jagger.

‘Where is the dignity in asking old and frail people to bash on a tambourine if they are in trouble? It makes the NHS look like a laughing stock.’…..

Today an NHS watchdog criticised the hospital for not installing a proper alarm system.

Steve Allen, chief officer of Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Community Health Council, said: ‘This is totally inappropriate.

‘Patients shouldn’t have to resort to shaking a tambourine to get a nurse’s assistance.

‘It is totally unacceptable and the health board must address this as a matter of concern.’…..

Ruth Walker, executive director of nursing for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, yesterday apologised for the tambourine – and said a new emergency bell will be installed.

She said: ‘It appears well-meaning staff have looked for ways to allow patients to make better use of the day room as part of their recovery and provide a way of calling for help.”

FoxNews: McCain Blames Some Arizona Forest Fires on Illegal Immigrants, Smugglers

By Melissa Chrise June 20, 2011
    June 20, 2011

“We are concerned about, particularly with areas down on the border, where there is substantial evidence that some of these fires were caused by people who have crossed our border illegally,” the Republican senator said after a tour Saturday of an area affected by the so-called Wallow Fire.

In a press conference that followed, McCain said border-crossers have set fires “because they want to signal others. They set fires to keep warm and they have set fires in order to divert law enforcement agents and agencies from them. The answer to that part of the problem is to get a secure border.”

McCain also issued a statement Monday saying that he got his information directly from a senior Forest Service official, who told him, “Some wildfires in Arizona (across our southern border) are regrettably caused by drug smugglers and illegal immigrants.

“This statement is consistent with what we’ve been hearing for years, as well as testimony by the Forest Service and media reports dating back as far as 2006,” McCain said.

The Wallow Fire is the largest in Arizona’s history, burning more than 519,000 acres — more than 800 square miles — in about three weeks.

Jim Upchurch, the Coronado National Forest supervisor, told the Arizona Daily Star newspaper earlier this month that some fires are ignited by smugglers or illegal immigrants.

First lady Michelle Obama today said her global advocacy on behalf of women and young people gives her a personal stake in her husband’s re-election, and that she eagerly awaits the coming campaign.

“I think there’s so much more work to do. We’ve really just begun to lay the foundation,” Obama told ABC News’ David Muir in a wide-ranging interview in Cape Town, South Africa, where she’s on a weeklong trip to promote youth leadership, education and political and cultural exchanges.

“I’m passionate about these issues. I want to make sure there’s a footing in them in the same way that my husband does,” she said. “So, more time would be helpful.”

“So you like the job?” Muir asked.

“I love the job, I do. I love people and I like having a positive impact,” she said.

Religious Right bombards NBC over Pledge wording

    By Dave Niose

If ever you needed evidence of the Religious Right’s impressive organization and zeal, take a look at the gross overreaction of the American Family Association to NBC’s decision last weekend to run the “Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag” without the “under God” wording at the start of the U.S. Open golf tournament broadcast. Someone in the NBC chain of command decided to edit out those words, not just once but twice, although it’s not clear whether the edit was done by mistake, for reasons of time limitations, or as some kind of religious-political statement.

Whatever the reason, NBC apologized during the U.S. Open broadcast, apparently having received complaints immediately after the edited Pledge was aired. So you might think that the whole issue would go away quickly.

Not so fast. Dissatisfied with the apology, the right-wing American Family Association issued an action alert to its members this week urging them to “demand an explanation” by bombarding NBC with phone calls and emails. The AFA even gives “talking points” to its members, advising them to tell NBC, “I am furious with NBC for leaving ‘under God’ out of the Pledge,” that “NBC’s on-air apology is completely unsatisfactory, because NBC did not admit which part of the Pledge has been removed,” and that “I am calling to insist on an explanation from NBC for this grossly unpatriotic act.”

Of course, since the “under God” wording was added to the Pledge in 1954 during the McCarthy era, and since the “under God” wording unnecessarily excludes millions of Americans who don’t believe the nation is under a deity, one could argue that utilizing the God-free version of the Pledge is actually more patriotic. After all, the God-free version was used during the victorious First and Second World Wars. …

Wow. I suppose one could argue that since WW II was pre-Civil Rights act, it’s more patriotic to reverse that, too.

    He concludes:

Because the Religious Right is so organized and active, they can convince corporate and government interests that they are more powerful than they really are. Perhaps it’s time for Secular Americans to provide some balance?

Uh, yeah, given the AFA among other organization is of course the only balance to the entire mainstream media.

It’s always fascinating to watch the left’s persecution complex at work.

The words “under God” were added in the 1950’s as a direct rebuke to communism, but not in the way most people think. The rebuke is not that America is religous and opposed to the godless communists, but rather, however much we revere our Republic, our State is not God. And I’m sure that’s why NBC left it out.

    CAIR loses nonprofit status
    Ben Smith
    June 23, 2011
The Council on American-Islamic Relations has lost its nonprofit status, according to the Internal Revenue Service.

The civil rights group, long accused of ties to radical Islam, is on a list of 275,000 organizations who have not filed the requisite paperwork with the IRS to maintain nonprofit status. Tax law requires annual disclosure of assets, expenditures and salaries for 501(c) nonprofits. Both CAIR and sister organization CAIR Foundation have lost their status.

They can’t bring forward records for years 2007 to 2010.
Gee, if you was funneling money to terror groups, would you want the IRS poking its’ nose in your business. And why did it take “3” years to rat these bastards out?

Chicago Tribune: Al-Qaida operative invested with Chicago brokerage house in 2005

U.S. government moves to seize $6 million from investment fund
    June 21, 2011|By Annie Sweene

A key al-Qaida member who had access to Osama bin Laden and allegedly financed terrorism invested millions of dollars with a Chicago futures brokerage firm — and now the U.S. government wants to take control of the remaining cash.

Abu al Tayyeb, who had allegedly considered a biological attack and other terror plots against U.S. citizens, wired $35 million to an associate, of which $26.7 million was deposited into an account in 2005, according to the federal lawsuit by the U.S. Justice Department.

While the civil lawsuit does not link al Tayyeb’s money to any terror activity, it portrays him as an al-Qaida operative who raised money for the terror group and plotted attacks on U.S. citizens and allies.

…the lawsuit alleged. “Al Tayyeb then used the funds raised, in part, to finance jihadist-related activities.”

Al Tayyeb’s money was deposited in an account at Chicago-based R.J. O’Brien & Associates, which has not been accused of any wrongdoing.

The account was set up in 2003 by someone identified only as “Individual A”…

Two years later, “Individual A” transferred the account to Mohammad Qasim al Ghamdi, who was identified as a general manager for the account, according to the lawsuit.

Al Tayyeb allegedly gave Qasim al Ghamdi the equivalent of $35 million in Saudi riyals in 2005, but $26.7 million was invested with R.J. O’Brien, according to the lawsuit.

By 2007, the U.S. Department of Treasury blocked the accounts pending an investigation. Further details about that investigation were not available. The account currently stands at about $6.2 million.

And just who is the mysterious “Individual A”?

Obama Calls on University Research to Help Create Manufacturing Jobs by Paul Basken
    June 24, 2011

The White House hasn’t worked out all details of the effort, including the degree to which it will involve actual research versus commercialization of discoveries. Organizers have, however, identified some initial projects, including allocations of $100-million to develop new materials used in manufacturing and $70-million for robotics development.

Such work is similar to federally financed research already taking place on university campuses that is coordinated by the National Science Foundation, said Ron A. Bloom, assistant to the president for manufacturing policy. The new effort, however, is expected “to provide more focus and direction to this spending.”

The total amount of money isn’t guaranteed, with the $500-million coming both from money already included in the NSF budget and from future increases requested by the president, Mr. Bloom said.

The administration has invited six universities to join the effort, with more expected to participate later, he said. The initial six are Carnegie Mellon, the Georgia Institute of Technology, MIT, Stanford University, the University of California at Berkeley, and the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

    Full article:

It seems fairly benign until you consider the following:

    1. U of California and Harvard were both in Obama’s Top 10 Campaign Donor List in 2008 (Stanford and MIT also gave him a lot of donations)

    2. I work at a Cal State University where we will have to turn away thousands of working-class students, lay off instructors, and double tuition/fees because of a $1 billion budget shortfall cut across 23 campuses. Why do these 6 colleges need $500 million?

    3. There is no particular need to have Harvard and MIT involved in this research. There are 1.5 million scholars in the national professoriate and the vast majority work at universities that could use this money more than Stanford and U of Michigan (the most expensive public college in the US).

    4. To create manufacturing jobs???? By designing robots?

This is a travesty. I’m furious.

President ‘becoming an absolute monarch’ on war powers, Dem says

By Pete Kasperowicz – 06/24/11 09:56 AM ET

A House Democrat warned Friday that the U.S. president is becoming an “absolute monarch” on matters related to the authority to start a war.

Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said Congress must act to limit funding for military operations in Libya in order to correct that trend.

“We have been sliding for 70 years to a situation where Congress has nothing to do with the decision about whether to go to war or not, and the president is becoming an absolute monarch,” Nadler said on the floor. “And we must put a stop to that right now, if we don’t want to become an empire instead of a republic.”

    I am absolutely speechless………Jerry Nadler (D-NY)
    I gotta sit down fellow S & L ers……………I think I’m gonna swoon!

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

      “…become an empire…..”

Wait, I thought democrats believed we were already an empire. An evil, money-stealing, capitalistic empire.

So, now congress has voted to deny approval to Hambone for his kinetic military activity but will the senate strike down any attempts to defund it? Or, as is more likely, will they play democrats against republicans….or even if they pass it….and it goes to Hambones electronic signing machine….will he go against both the house and the senate and veto it?

Just where do the other branches of government draw the line? He is in violation of the law right foot-stompin’ NOW. It’s not a question of semantics, mechanics or anything else. Congress said no and yet, the US is still engaged in Libya. Clinton was told no and he relented. But not this clown. No. He is emperor superior. And his uptake is the republicans are doing what they’re doing in congress just to “pick on him”.

Morons. Even worse…..morons who are looney tunes, ear-flappin’ nuts.
