Continuing to show that it doesn’t matter what Congress votes on or not – the Men in Black rule all and cannot be constrained.

    From the Associated Press:

Judge Orders Openly Gay Nurse Reinstated To Air Force

TACOMA, Wash. — A federal judge ruled Friday that a decorated flight nurse discharged from the Air Force for being gay should be given her job back as soon as possible in the latest legal setback to the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.

The decision by U.S. District Judge Ronald Leighton came in a closely watched case as a tense debate has been playing out over the policy. Senate Republicans blocked an effort to lift the ban this week, but Leighton is now the second federal judge this month to deem the policy unconstitutional.

Maj. Margaret Witt was suspended in 2004 and subsequently discharged under the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy after the Air Force learned she had been in a long-term relationship with a civilian woman. She sued to get her job back.

Leighton hailed her as a “central figure in a long-term, highly charged civil rights movement.” Tears streaked down Witt’s cheeks and she hugged her parents, her partner and supporters following the ruling.

“Today you have won a victory in that struggle, the depth and duration of which will be determined by other judicial officers and hopefully soon the political branches of government,” the judge told her, choking up as he recalled Witt’s dramatic testimony about her struggles.

The ruling was the second legal victory this month for opponents of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” and it throws the law into further disarray.

A federal judge in California earlier this month ruled the law unconstitutional and is considering whether to immediately halt the ban, and now Witt will be allowed to return to the military despite being openly gay. …

Legality? Nah, it’s all about emotion:

Leighton became emotional as he recalled Witt’s testimony about the support she has received from her parents since she came out to them on the eve of filing her lawsuit.

“The best thing to come out of all this tumult is still that love and support,” he said.

When Muslims come into your country, your country becomes Muslim.

In England, Muslims have been shutting down streets for years now.

In Windsor the Muslims bought a small store in the High Street in the very shadow of Windsor Castle, and turned the store into a mosque. They block the street in front of the store, including access to the local school, claiming that the mosque is too small to accommodate their needs, and hoping to provoke a confrontation.

At least the French are….finally…finally…beginning to fight back…and with the pork and wine cocktail parties!

Who knew?…Using guns against them just make them martyrs…but they CAN be attacked with pork and wine! Brilliant!

I can see a game plan developing for the GZ mosque issue. IF we have the courage of our convictions.

My only question is how so many muslims can sell so much beer and wine and pork in their convenience stores?

What kind of religion allows their followers to sell the forbidden.

With the increasing threat of terrorism from GERMAN born jihadis, recruited from GERMAN mosques, “Germans were recruited from mosques in Berlin, Bonn and Hamburg”, the German authorities shut down the Taiba mosque in Hamburg, previously known as the al Quds mosque, in August.”

How soon until the US has to tread the same path to deal with terrorism.. before or after another attack on US soil?

Credible But Not Specific’ Threat of New Terrorist Attack
Officials in Europe, US on High Alert for Commando-Style Raids After Capture of Suspected German Terrorist
      Sept. 28, 2010

US and European officials said Tuesday they have detected a plot to carry out a major, coordinated series of commando-style terror attacks in Britain, France, Germany and possibly the United States.

A senior US official said that while there is a “credible” threat, no specific time or place is known.

Intelligence and law enforcement authorities in the US and Europe said the threat information is based on the interrogation of a suspected German terrorist allegedly captured on his way to Europe in late summer and now being held at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan.

US intelligence officials said they believed an attack on American soil was more likely to come from terrorists connected to the al Qaeda group in Yemen, known as AQAP, al Qaeda of the Arabian Peninsula.

In the last four years, dozens of German citizens have been recruited to train in al Qaeda-connected camps in Pakistan, according to US and German law enforcement officials. German language jihadi videos on the internet help to attract more trainees.

“The advantage, of course, is the passport,” said Steinberg, “because with the German passport it’s a lot easier to travel.”

Travelers with German passports do not require a visa to enter the United States. Officials now believe at least one team of German jihadists was dispatched to Europe over the summer, travelling on German passports.

Steinberg said that many of the German jihadis who train in Pakistan are killed, “but those who come back are a threat. “And they are a threat not only to Germany,” added Steinberg, “but also to our allies and especially the U.S. because they are extremely anti-American.”

Steinberg said the Germans were recruited from mosques in Berlin, Bonn and Hamburg, including the same mosque in Hamburg where Mohammed Atta and other 9/11 hijackers gathered. German authorities shut down the Taiba mosque in Hamburg, previously known as the al Quds mosque, in August.

“Young men were being turned into religious fanatics there,” said Christoph Ahlhaus, secretary of the interior for the city of Hamburg at the time.

“Hamburg cannot become a cradle for Islamists capable of violence,” said Ahlhaus.

Steinberg said it was “quite shocking” that the former al Quds mosque was still producing jihadis. “There is a certain amount of continuity in German jihadism,’ said Steinberg.

CTV News: Canadians hope to win Afghan hearts over airwaves

    The Associated Press 09/24/2010

PANJWAII DISTRICT, Afghanistan — In a room barely bigger than a closet in a remote Canadian military base in the Panjwaii district, a young disc jockey holds a cellphone up to the microphone in front of him.

The caller is reciting poetry, and Panjwaii is listening.

This is the Voice of Panjwaii, one of five very small, local radio stations broadcasting from Canadian military bases throughout Kandahar province as part of NATO’s psychological war against the Taliban insurgency.

“Recently we started doing music requests,” said Lt. Aaron Lesarge, the soldier who is — for all intents and purposes — the station manager.

Local elders and mullahs come to the station to speak, as well as the district governor. There are quiz shows and the station has its own most-requested list of traditional Afghan songs, but by far the most popular program is the call-in show.

About 80 per cent of Panjwaii residents have radios, said Lesarge. Canadian soldiers have handed out an estimated 30,000 units over the past two year in the province.

It’s all part of the quiet, psychological war going on to win the hearts and minds of Afghans.

“The biggest battle in a place like this is simply informing people what’s going on,” said navy Lt. Mark Shepherd of Information Operations for Task Force Kandahar. “There’s a big language barrier and there’s a big cultural battle here.”

NATO’s Regional Command South, which includes Kandahar province, also has plans for a southern Afghanistan network.

…’ The day letters concept is for us to help the (Afghan National Security Forces)… to promote the ANSF presence in the area,” said Capt. Chris Canavan, of Task Force Kandahar’s Psychological Operations team.

However, living among Afghans and meeting with them regularly is still the primary way to win trust, says Shepherd.

    “Nothing beats a face-to-face meeting.”

A new book Operation Dark Horse is out. The Pentagon tried to buy the first 10,000 copies as the book is critical of the liberal rules of engagement.

Handing the Taliban terrorists radios along with tea may sound nice, but the radios also allow them to listen many stations controlled by the terrorists full of death threats and propaganda, “and the informing all afghanistans of the locations of when & where our U.S. soldiers are”. Such as more Ft. Campbell soldiers killed by their helicopter being shot down by insurgents. No wonder Ft. Campbell soldiers have highest rate of suicide, if they survive the war.

Washington Post: Obama Invokes ‘State Secrets’ Claim to Dismiss Suit Against Targeting of U.S. Citizen

    By Spencer S. Hsu 09/24/2010

The Obama administration will urge a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit over its targeting of a U.S. citizen for killing overseas, senior Justice Department officials said late Friday, arguing that the case would reveal state secrets.

The U.S.-born citizen, Anwar al-Aulaqi, is a cleric now believed to be in Yemen. Federal authorities allege that he is leading a branch of al-Qaida there….

Civil liberties groups sued the U.S. government on behalf of Aulaqi’s father, arguing that the CIA and the Joint Special Operations Command’s placement of Aulaqi on a capture-or-kill list of suspected terrorists — outside a war zone and absent an imminent threat — amounted to an extrajudicial execution order against a U.S. citizen. They asked the U.S. District Court in Washington to block the targeting.

MPR News: Somalis in Minnesota Alleged Somali sex ring signals youth crisis, activists say
    by Laura Yuen, 09/23/2010

St. Paul, Minn. — Somali-American community members say an investigation into an alleged prostitution ring in Minnesota and Tennessee…

… Authorities believe the girl was lured into a large prostitution ring and controlled by Somali gangs.

Abdirizak Bihi, a Minneapolis community activist, said he has counseled about 20 young Somali-American women caught up in human trafficking through his work with the group Civil Society. Although he did not know specifics about the investigation, he said the victims he’s seen are from ages 15 to 23, and most grew up in the United States.

Stuck in a cultural rift, many of the young women rebelled against their strict Somali parents or elders by running away, making them easy targets, Bihi said…..

“And many men come to the home providing small things such as paying for their cell phones, or stuff they want to buy, and taking advantage sexually of those young girls.”

“We have a huge number of boys and girls who are displaced, and alienated from the community,” Bihi said. “Those people are vulnerable to recruitment – either of terror, gang violence, or prostitution and human trafficking.”

Bihi is also the uncle of one of several young Twin Cities men believed dead after allegedly leaving for Somalia to fight with a terrorist group in their homeland.

The investigation into the alleged prostitution ring involves multiple agencies, including St. Paul police, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the FBI. KSTP-TV broke the story earlier this week and reported on a search warrant issued in the case. That document has been since sealed, and KSTP shared a copy with MPR News.

This summer, investigators brought the girl to Nashville, where she testified in federal court as part of the investigation. They also seized her cell phone. She is now in custody of Hennepin County, according to the affidavit.

Rumors about juvenile sex trafficking have been circulating in the Twin Cities Somali community for the past year, but the details were always hard to pin down, said Abia Ali, who runs a girls’ program at the Abubakar As-Saddique mosque in Minneapolis.

“You’d hear about it, but not who’s doing it,” Ali said.

This is a wake-up call to educate the whole community,” she said. “We can’t be in denial. We should take care of our girls.”

Bihi, the community activist who works with human-trafficking victims, said he’s learned that some of the victims are shuttled across state lines. He’s heard of similar activity as far away as Boston, Seattle, and Columbus, Ohio.

Still, many Somali-Americans say they’re shocked to learn of the alleged sex ring, especially because prostitution is considered taboo. Traditional Somali culture expects girls to be protected.

Foxnews: Minnesota: America’s First Somali-Muslim State?

    03/19/2007 by John Gibson

BBC: The US wants to strengthen its ties with Somalia’s breakaway regions Somaliland and Puntland, the Obama administration’s top diplomat for Africa has said.

The new, “aggressive” engagement could help to head off the Islamist insurgents, Johnnie Carson said.

The assistant secretary of state for Africa said the US would send more aid workers and diplomats to Puntland and Somaliland and support the governments of both regions, in the north of Somalia, with development projects.

Somalia has been wracked by violence for much of the past 20 years. It has not had a functioning central government since 1991.

Swathes of the country and most of the capital Mogadishu are controlled by al-Shabab, a hardline Islamist group which has admitted to links with al-Qaeda.

The US plans to strengthen its ties with Somalia’s breakaway regions, Somaliland and Puntland, in a bid to head off Islamist insurgents.

Stunning video interviews by PJTV after the recent hearings about the DOJ’s civil rights enforcement.

The man speaking at the beginning is one of the commissioners at the US CIvil Rights Commission who initiated the investigation. Peter Kirsanow appears racially ambigous, but he is Chair of the board of directors of the Center for New Black Leadership, so he is probably of mixed race.

The second gentleman to speak calls the DOJ a Potemkin Village, which a fake village to pretend that a civilization is better than it really is. He goes on to speak about the many cases in the country where the DOJ refuses to clean up the voter roles around the country. He cites one case where the voter roles contain 130% of the voters in the country. This a Democrat situation, generally race-based.

The third commissioner talks says the testimonly if “far more dramatic and revealing that he would have thourht. He talks about Loretta King, the acting assistant attorney general who made the decision about the Black Panter case and her active hostility toward equal implementation of the law. She does not want the civil rights law to be equally enforced for white victims. She prevented Chris Coates from even asking DOJ job applicants about race-nuetral enforcement of the law.

The law means nothing to the political criminals in the DOJ. They make their own laws. To hell with the constitutiona and the country.

Last week brought us a lot of amazing news:

VDH gave us the next great insight into the society which the Ruling Class have sought to engineer through their ‘change’ – with the return of the “Peasant Culture” mentality in America. http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/247428/nation-peasants-victor-davis-hanson “We are all getting poorer in hopes that a few won’t get richer.” Rush talked about it at length.

It’s clearer than ever that the Democrats (and RCRepubs) see us as peasants and serfs, because they’re out in full force and sinking to depths lower than even what they tried to do to Palin, desperate to hijack this year’s election narrative as one which is a national referendum on the policies of they and their dear leader and back to one about the irrelevant issues of a peasant nation and their media masters, just the latest in strategies to deter our momentum from all corners of their social base: http://www.startribune.com/politics/national/103795059.html?elr=KArks:DCiUec7PaP3E77K_0c::D3aDhUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUU

But it ain’t happenin’. Disgustingly, Democrats publicly handed out Col. Allen West’s social security number, but he’s not backing down and his numbers continue to surge. Apparently the CBC already is but Obama and Pelosi might even be coming to stump for his opponent. He’s happy to bring them a message: http://shark-tank.net/2010/09/25/allen-west-obama-and-pelosi-welcome-to-the-jungle-video/

The exodus from the administration and their propoganda network continues, especially following the DOJ Black Panther case testimony. With a great picture of the Democrat Donkey with its head up its rear, Thefoxnation declares it the “week the Democrat Media Industrial Complex died” (wishful thinking but I wonder where they got that term for the MSM, eh)? Zucker and Klein are the latest media fatcats to feel America’s jobless pain as NBC and CNN continue to go down in flames. http://www.thefoxnation.com/must-reads/2010/09/24/drudge-media-bloodbath

Rush had two critical points about which we’ve discussed here at some length:

    – One is about our current market situation. We’ve crawled out of the Summer of Wreckovery (normally the market lulls) and into a volatile Fall because there’s genuine excitement out there about the prospect of getting the Dems out, extending the tax cuts, rolling some of this back. However as he says, the dirty little secret is that the Fed has been bailing people out left and right as well as basically giving the government controlled lenders and investors money to invest and keep the markets stable through the election. Since none of this has been based on real market forces, there’s a great awareness out there still that it could very well collapse as the house of cards it is.

    – Two is about the establishment Republicans being in danger of becoming the minority third party: http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_092410/content/01125108.guest.html That faultline was shaking all through the primary season – Crist, Murkowski and finally Castle is what brought the final rift. Whether they still claim to be a Republican or not, they’re trying to campaign now as moderate/independent, and splitting the Democrat vote instead. I think it continues to speak to the viability of the Libertarian platform as a crucial challenge to the Democrats continued political existence, personally. It’s not because these “moderate” candidates (who are just Big Government corruptocrats) are for whom a solid 30-40% chunk of America is looking, but because I think there is solid support for someone who CLAIMS to be fiscally conservative and socially/culturally liberal.

The rise of Paladino and DioGuardi in New York are the latest hopeful signs that the Conservative tide has found a beachhead in the Northeast. But here in California, the stituation remains grim and ominous. Chumppundit offered his analysis, which as usual has some useful data but misses the point: http://hotair.com/archives/2010/09/26/new-polls-show-fiorina-and-paul-fading-thanks-to-screwy-samples/

Before I get into the political battlefields, here’s the latest from the corrupt City of Bell, CA which is playing out like a classic “Law & Order” drama: http://articles.cnn.com/2010-09-21/justice/california.bell.arrests_1_luis-artiga-misappropriation-victor-bello?_s=PM:CRIME First, notice again how no political party is mentioned. Most of the city council was arrested, including City Planner Rizzo and Mayor Hernandez, whose door was barged with a battering ram. It’s one of the clearest cases of corruption and fiefdom ever, a blueprint for probably what’s happening at the state and federal level in perpetuity.

CA Governor: Meg Whitman remains deadlocked but continues her slight downward momentum with that Ruling Class environmentalist relic from the Jimma Cahtuh era, Jerry Brown: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2010/election_2010_governor_elections/california/election_2010_california_governor Both candidates keep shooting themselves in the foot, groin, and basically everywhere. If Meg wins, it’ll be because the loud but overwhelmed Tea Party forces here plugged their nose and decided not to condemn the state to its Green-Socialist Keynesian fate. We’re about ready to let the ship sink with its captains though.

We’re quickly losing confidence that she’ll represent anything significant other than another failed Ruling Class Republican administration here. Anyone who’s read Drudge lately knows we’re already 100 days late on our budget again with no glimmer of hope for a Chris Christie style reform. Already she’s ambivalent as to whether she’ll roll back all the global warming laws and regs that were passed by Ahnold and the socialist state congress. The biggest one will be so destructive to the state economy and is so unpopular that we’re trying to annull it by proposition at the ballot box (which Meg has flim-flammed around and refused to endorse).

CA Senate: Carly Fiorina, who was up on Boxer earlier, is slipping too: http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2010/election_2010_senate_elections/california/election_2010_california_senate. After getting the early Palin endorsement (she bucked the True Conservative DeVore because at the time we all thought his campaign was weak.. interesting to reflect on now), the Tea Party thought they had a strong anti-Obama leader in her but she’s been a lukewarm campaigner – going after Boxer mostly on surface issues like “Senator Ma’am” – moderating her message.

The political problem here is complex, maybe even more so than anywhere else. Northern California and Los Angeles almost in its entirety is the fortified stronghold for tens of millions of entrenched professional Leftists. The state and federal open borders and extreme environmentalist policy has left center-right Southern California all but an over-populated, economically/racially divided, wasteland. There already is a flight of middle/upper middle class wealth from the state, and as it only further accelerates, those divides intensify. Soon – it may already be too late – this state will be the first living tribute to the realized ideals of Leftist governance, a microcosm of what Obama seeks at the national level.

Conclusion: Whitman and to a milder extant Fiorina are both Silicon Valley Republicans, the West Coast version of your northeastern Ruling Class ‘moderate.’ At the very best, they both look at the polling data here and have decided that they need to compromise for a chance at election. At the worst, they’re both two-faced and out of touch establishment-esque politicians who thought they could buy power as Republicans during the rising tide. We’re still working hard to deliver Carly to the senate since unseating Boxer is a prize too worth shooting for. But it ain’t going to happen unless she and Meg ditch the elitist clique and their correctly messaged platitudes and become more independent minded leaders with something relevant to say.

California might have fallen off the edge of the cliff of rationality. The dimdem strategy of chasing the wealth creators out and trucking the entitlement dependents in may have changed the electorate in an irrevocable way.

Several other southern states besides Florida also have good climates and much more of a future than California has.

Thanks Pro. It’s quite unreal still to wrap my head around the fact that we’re all being compelled to eviction essentially, but it’s true.

Proposition 23 is the current fight to suspend AB32 – the Global Warming Act of 2006 i.e. California Cap and Tax. Polling for prop 23 is too close for what it should be for an economy crippling law based on a hoax: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/greenspace/2010/09/proposition-23-poll-global-warming-california.html

The real threat I’ve learned comes from SB375 or the “Redesigning Communities to Reduce Greenhouse Gases Act of 2008”. The initial target was a 5% flat emission reduction, which was probably to couple with AB35 which wanted emissions rolled back to 1990 levels.

But as of Thursday, the California Air Resources Board voted to up the target to 7% by 2020 and 15% by 2035: “The targets adopted today include forecasts and computer modeling by the planning organizations that reflect a wide variety of strategies, including such things as: shifts towards multi-unit housing closer to a city’s center, increasing the number of workers who telecommute and carpool, adding carpool lanes, or increasing the number of people who take public transit.”

How are they going to achieve these changes? Well even the SFGate, which appears to support the initial targets in SB375, is aghast:

“The higher targets would have severe ramifications for our state’s economic recovery. The MTC analysis indicated that a target of 12 percent would require gas prices of $9.07 per gallon, as well as the implementation of congestion pricing, parking fees and other taxes. This would make it prohibitive for people to travel to work, without providing alternative means of transportation.

These extreme reduction targets will place unreasonable restrictions on development, construction and home building. There is also great concern that the inability to reach these targets will keep new projects held up in litigation, while businesses are forced to pay heavy fines and mitigation fees.” Read more: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/09/21/EDGM1FGPV9.DTL#ixzz10fZCJyPd

Treasury May Be Only Seller in GM IPO: Sources

by Soyoung Kim, Clare Baldwin and Kevin Krolicki
    September 24, 2010

New York/Detroit – The United Auto Workers health care trust and the governments of Canada and Ontario may not participate in General Motors Co’s upcoming IPO in order to avoid taking a cut on the price of their shares, three people with knowledge of the matter said on Friday.

If GM’s second and third largest shareholders opt to hold their shares beyond the IPO, that would leave the Treasury as the only stakeholder selling shares and could mean that the total value of the deal could be at the low end of market expectations.

IPOs are typically discounted 10 percent to 15 percent from theoretical fair value to reward investors for taking a risk on a new issue and pave the way for future stock floats.

In GM’s IPO, the discount could be as much as 20 percent, sources have said. By comparison, follow-on offerings are typically priced just 3 percent to 7 percent below market. …

Meanwhile, UAW President Bob King said on Friday that the union could use the GM IPO to pressure JPMorgan Chase in a protest against JPMorgan’s refusal to declare a moratorium on foreclosures in Michigan and as part of a labor dispute at RJ Reynolds. JPMorgan is one of the lead underwriters on the GM IPO.

With the approach of U.S. midterm congressional elections in November, the IPO remains a politically sensitive issue. The Obama administration is eager to paint the auto industry bailout and GM’s IPO as a success in the face of continued voter skepticism. …

    This is not an IPO.

JPMorgan halts 50K foreclosures for possible flaws

by Janna Herron and Alan Zibel
      September 29, 2010

NEW YORK — JPMorgan Chase has temporarily stopped foreclosing on more than 50,000 homes so it can review documents that might contain errors. …

      Sure. See above post.

GMAC Mortgage LLC last week halted certain evictions and sales of foreclosed homes in 23 states to review those cases. The company said it found procedural errors in some foreclosure affidavits. …

The issue is also gaining attention on Capitol Hill. Last week, Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass. and two other lawmakers wrote to Fannie Mae, urging the government-controlled mortgage giant to stop working with so-called “foreclosure mill” law firms under investigation for document fraud. …

For the record, GMAC Mortgage is a wholly owned subsidiary of GMAC, which in turn is/was the financial services division of GM.

And like GM, GMAC received billions of federal bailout money (a.k.a. taxpayer money) courtesy of the U.S. Treasury making the taxpayers majority stakeholders in both.

And like GM, GMAC has re-branded itself (now known as Ally Financial) and will be launching its own “IPO” next year.

And like GM, GMAC’s future is firmly in the control of Democrats and their liberal agenda.

I’ve often said the equity markets were manipulated in 2008 to get Obama elected. Nobody talks about it, but it’s as close to a fact as you can get. Soros was convicted by Hungary of market manipulation during that period. The SEC probe that kicked off in November, 2008, was silently squashed, of course.

Here, Rush flat-out says the Fed is pumping money into the market in September to prop Obama up. He has numerous sources including insiders.

“RUSH: All right, here’s another website. http://www.zerohedge.com: “The federal researcher intervened at 10:15 this morning to save stocks, is the subject.” Well, they didn’t go up but they were starting to crash today. Stocks were starting to go down, it was not looking good, somebody stepped in to stop it. Two years ago the Fed moved in to save Obama, get him elected, and now look what’s happened as we approach another election here. I mean it is what it is, folks.”

For those of you watching closely in 2008, at the end of many trading days in Sept / Oct, if the market was up or neutral, somebody or something hammered the market down in the last half hour. It was a pattern that recurred a dozen or more times. This is different, of course, since this time, the market has to go UP to save Obama’s ass.

And of course, it is going up, even though September, as Rush says, is traditionally the worst month for the market.

There is no end to the crimes.

Also notice that the price of a gallon of gasoline is remaining reasonable.

Can’t have it ‘skyrocketing’ just before an election, can we.

Of course, gasoline fell from over $4 per gallon to under $2 per gallon in Sept/Oct 2008. It had to do that because Drill Baby Drill was McCain’s top issue, and the reason he selected Palin.

Amazingly, gasoline did drop like a rock, more than it ever had before, by far.

And now, gas is stable as can be.

Gee, Obamy sure is a lucky guy, isn’t he?

Lunch began with aperitifs on the terrace overlooking the vegetable garden. In her remarks preceding the lunch Mrs. Obama said that the chef owner of Stone Barns restaurant, had cooked for her and the then president elect Nov 08, a dinner she described as “one of the best meal I ever had. ”

The presentation of gifts to visiting foreign dignitaries is a time-honored tradition that helps transcend cultural barriers and offers a symbol of peace and friendship.
In honor of the 65th anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly, First Lady Michelle Obama has assembled an assortment of gifts that reflect her past 20 months in the White House.
    The White House Kitchen
Garden, which provides the Obama family and White House guests with delicious fresh produce, is the central theme behind this year’s gift

A special recipe of pickled, hand-picked ingredients from the White House Kitchen Garden, including sun gold tomatoes, okra, cucumbers, chocolate bell peppers, carrots, lemon verbena, and fresh herbs are presented in jars with the First Lady’s signature. The jars are topped with original artwork done by California artists, Michael Cronan and Karin Hibma, who were inspired by a photo of Mrs. Obama tending to the garden with children and a wheelbarrow.

Chamomile seeds were harvested from the White House Kitchen Garden for the first time this year and are being shared by Mrs. Obama.
Each gift is presented inside a one-of-a-kind, hand woven basket made of Maplewood harvested in the Midwest by The Longaberger Company,… Each basket is lined with a khaki canvas insert. A nickel tag is affixed to the outside of each bag and engraved with the words, “Made Exclusively for Michelle Obama

    Office of the First Lady

For Immediate Release September 24, 2010

    Blue Hill at Stone Barns
    Tarrytown, New York

MRS. OBAMA: Well, good afternoon. I hope you all enjoyed the tours. It’s a beautiful, beautiful place.

I want to start by thanking a few people…

And we wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the Rockefeller family. This is their home,…(Applause.)

And of course to Dan Barber and his brother, David. Dan is the executive chef here…. And I have to say that Dan — I met Dan before we came to the White House. And he actually cooked for my husband and I, and he didn’t know why he was being called to Chicago, but it was one of the best dinners, and after that I fell in love with Dan, I knew that we would want to partner with him if we had the opportunity. He is serving on the President’s Fitness and Nutrition Council, so he’s one of the major players in our efforts to encourage healthier living around the country….

And those cute little precious people that were out there, the third graders, they are terrific. They come from Pocantico Hill School here in the area and JFK Magnet School….. So we want to thank all those students for just being so eager. And they also helped to prepare the lunch, so they’re our chefs, as well.

And last but not least, I want to thank and introduce you to some of our — the most important people in the President and my family’s life, are the people who feed us…., who’s a chef, as well, but he also wears a policy hat, and he has been working on the “Let’s Move” initiative. So let’s give them a round of applause….

These chefs are among the thousands that are volunteering to work in schools to try to help schools do a better job of figuring out how to make their school lunch meals a little tastier and healthier…

This all started — why we’re here — many of you probably know me as a gardener because when I first came into the White House, we developed the White House kitchen garden, which was probably one of the first since Eleanor Roosevelt. And we didn’t know whether we could even grow anything on that plot of land.

But we began to grow some wonderful things, and we worked closely with students in the Washington, D.C. area.
They helped us every step of the way.
They helped us till the soil.
    They helped us plant.
    They helped us harvest.
    They helped us eat.
And what we learned from the mere planting of that garden was that we could use this simple tool to engage children in a conversation about their own health and nutrition.

And that experience led us to develop one of the strongest initiatives that I have, one that I’m very proud of. It’s called “Let’s Move.”

“Let’s Move” is a national-wide campaign — a nationwide campaign — to focus our country on the epidemic of childhood obesity. Our goal is to ensure that children born today grow up at a healthy weight, understanding how to eat and live in a healthy way.

And we’re working with kids because oftentimes it’s easier for them to develop new habits than it is for us to try to change old habits as they get older.

And with this initiative, we’re trying to do a number of things. We’re trying to provide parents with better information. We want to get family physicians involved in really screening and checking children for obesity…. That’s why Stone Barns is so important,
because many of these kids may never….

learn that ketchup comes from a tomato, or that
French fries actually come from a potato,
because they’re very disconnected from the food that they eat….

…, of the kind of energy that comes from children having a hands-on experience on the farm.
And when they grow it and they touch it and they taste it, they believe in it more than anything that we could tell them.

…. on this issue in your own countries, and that’s the thing that it’s important for the media to understand.
Childhood obesity is not just an American challenge.
As I talk to these spouses, I’m understanding that we’re seeing —
many of you are seeing these same issues in your own countries….

It makes these gatherings even more special, to be able
    to share these ideas and
    to share in fellowship and
    toast and
    all that good stuff.

That NY & California wine mixed with all the herbs must have gone to her head. These are just excerpts, but Michelle goes into depth of the “move on” active part our children need to do is grow food, while, her husband says children aren’t learning books enough. Too many incorrect spelled words to [sic] and so maybe they are having problems correcting reports. The White House’s full release is bizarre.

Karzai’s tears: Afghan president breaks down on national TV over fears ‘next generation’ will flee war-torn country

By Mail Foreign Service 28th September 2010

President Hamid Karzai today broke down in tears as he called on Afghans to ‘come to their senses’ or risk seeing the next generation flee the country.

Plea: President Hamid Karzai weeps on television as he speaks about his fears that insurgency in Afghanistan could force his son to leave
He said: ‘I do not want Mirwais, my son, to be a foreigner, I do not want this.
‘I want Mirwais to be Afghan. Therefore come to your senses… you are witnessing what is happening on our soil and only through our efforts can our homeland be ours.’…

Involved: Afghan women listen to the speech at a school in Kabul where Mr Karzai said insurgency threatened the next generation…

Future: The peace council will include Taliban figures and women

Mr Karzai’s plan involves luring Taliban foot soldiers away from the battlefield with cash and job incentives while seeking reconciliation with senior militant leaders by offering them asylum in Muslim countries and striking their names off a UN blacklist.

Donor nations, most of them in Western countries, have pledged to provided tens of millions of dollars for bringing over the foot Taliban soldiers.

    Dick Morris nails it. Brilliant.

“The magnitude of our error — or at least of our understanding of it — will become apparent on November 2, when the GOP will win both houses of Congress, the House by a considerable margin. The 2010 landslide will likely set the record for the largest transfer of House seats in an off- year election. The prior mark of 74 seats in 1922 (a Democratic gain in the wake of Harding’s scandals and the Teapot Dome investigation) will probably be eclipsed. But the true measure of the damage Obama has done to his ideology and his party will not be evident for some time.”

The “error” of which he speaks, is the country electing the Marxist Moron.

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

Rush talked about this in the first hour on Thursday, Sep 30. I sat there at lunch really enjoying the excerpts and his own take on it. I was actually filled with “hope” and desirous of “change” for this November. Though I’m still worried that business as usual may take place, only with a strong republican bent. On the other hand, republicans, be they RINO’s or otherwise, have gotten the shi**y end of the stick for about 60 + years now and maybe it’s time to let the left see that we won’t stand for it anymore. As one old Brooklyn-ite said to me years ago, “Play that game BETTER than they do”.

And, yes, the desperation of the marxists is showing heavily with every move they make. Their desire for absolute power is now exposed and the people are showing their displeasure. Which, of course, results in belittling and scolding by the ruling class towards the commoners, which makes the commoners all the more angry. I had always known that Americans, all Americans, deep down inside, really have a marked hatred for someone pointing out their superiority. It’s an odd dichotomy as people will elevate extremely flawed people to such stratospheric levels. But at the same time, when an elevated one habitually treats the less fortunate with disdain, the less fortunate frequently dismantle the pedestal they’re on.

Used to be a phenomenon almost exclusive to Hollywood…then it made its way into sports, then politics.

I look forward to watching the self-proclaimed bright magnitude stars of the democrat party imploding to that dense matter known as a black hole. They’re mostly there already by their own hand, sucking in everything except light itself but that can’t be too far away since they are reaching critical mass and they’ve burned through almost all their usable fuel.

    Shocker in the Washington Examiner:

Bush & Rove did not use gay marriage as a wedge issue to manipulate the public in 2004 and 2006.

While this may seem like a small matter, it has enormous implications for the way Democrats have rationalized a lot of their smear campaigns against homosexuals or suspected homosexuals in the conservative movement.

I was stunned/happy to read this piece in the examiner.

Medicaid enrollment spikes to 48M in weak economy

    by Ricardo Alonso-zaldivar
    Sep 30, 2010; 9:34 am ET

WASHINGTON – More people signed up for Medicaid last year than at any time since the program’s inception, as the recession wiped out jobs and workplace health coverage. …

Starting in the fall of 2008, the federal government provided more than $100 billion in additional Medicaid funding to the states to help cover growing numbers of people in need. The last of that money will run out in June of next year, and states are still likely to be strapped. …

From December 2008 to December 2009, Medicaid enrollment rose by nearly 3.7 million people, the biggest 12-month increase since the early days of the program’s implementation, the report found. That accompanied a surge in demand for other low-income assistance. Nearly 12 million households received food stamps last year, a record.

Medicaid is a federal-state partnership created with Medicare in 1965 under President Lyndon Johnson. It covers low-income families and many elderly in nursing homes. It’s also been assigned a major role under the new health care law, which expands the program to cover an estimated 18 million additional low-income adults starting in 2014. …

Nearly every state – 48 in all – took some action to limit Medicaid spending last year, and most plan more cuts next year. Although they didn’t reduce eligibility, Kaiser found that states took steps to restrict the scope of coverage:

    – A record 20 states placed restrictions on benefits, and 14 plan new restrictions next year. Arizona, California, Hawaii and Massachusetts eliminated some or all dental coverage. Other states limited medical imaging, therapies, supplies and personal care.

    – Thirty-nine states cut or froze payments to hospitals, doctors and other service providers, and most plan another round next year. Medicaid payment rates are already so low that in many states it’s hard to find doctors who will accept the coverage.

    – Eighteen states placed limits on long-term care services, and 10 plan additional limits next year.

The recession officially ended in mid-2009, but the Kaiser study indicates its ill effects will take a while longer to wear off.

Indian court: Hindus, Muslims must share holy site

    by Biswajeet Banerjee
    September 30, 2010

LUCKNOW, India – An Indian court ruled Thursday that a disputed holy site that sparked bloody riots in the past should now be divided between the Hindu and Muslim communities.

But in its compromise ruling, the court gave Hindus control over the area where the now-demolished Babri Mosque stood — and where a makeshift tent-shrine to the Hindu god Rama now rests.

The conflict over the 64-acre (25-hectare) compound in Ayodhya — 350 miles (550 kilometers) east of New Delhi — also sparked deadly violence between Hindus and Muslims that has challenged India’s ethos as a secular, multicultural democracy.

Some 2,000 people were killed in 1992 when Hindu hard-liners razed the Babri Mosque built on the site in 1528 by the Mughal emperor Babur.

Hindus say the site is the birthplace of Rama, and that a temple to the god once stood there before the mosque. …

Archaeological evidence, the court said, showed that a temple predated the mosque. …

    Sound familiar?

    • BannedbytheTaliban says:

This is yet another testament to the intolerance of Islam. If the pedophile followers didn’t have a habit of denying religious freedom, destroying other religions’ places of worship, then building their own ‘shrines’ on the ashes of their hatred this wouldn’t be a problem. Nor would the ground zero mosque, the temple mound, Kashmir, the entire city of Istanbul, etc…

Report slams UK cameras used to snoop on Muslims

    September 30, 2010

LONDON – British police apologized Thursday for a counterterrorism project that installed surveillance cameras in predominantly Muslim neighborhoods, saying that although the cameras had never been switched on, the program had damaged trust and caused anger in the community.

The surveillance program, which saw more than 200 CCTV cameras and number plate recognition devices put up in parts of Birmingham, central England, was conceived in 2007 after a series of terrorist plots were uncovered in the city.

Residents complained that they were not consulted about the program, and civil liberties groups protested that the measures were heavy-handed. …

Put into context the 200 CCTV cameras in question. A 2005 study estimated there are 4.8 million such cameras throughout all of England. (http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/mar/02/westminster-cctv-system-privacy)

John Bolton may become a very interesting and potentially potent wild-card candidate for President.

Here he discusses the issues and his reasons for potentially running for POTUS.

It’s subtle, but he takes a swipe at Palin when he says that he believes whoever the Republican nominee will be will have to be able to stand toe-to-toe with Obamy, and not just in talking points. He says that Obamy will be familiar with all of the foreign policy issues by the time the debates will happen and being able to resond in detail will be critical. That is the reason I have never rejected Newt, who many conservatives detest. My view is that debate performance is one of the top factors in the race for President. Bolton is as good as Newt. Nobody else is close, at least at this point. And I worry that Palin can’t reach the required level of mastery by 2012.
