Sen Franken Asks About Perry Mason

Now that Mr. Franken has stolen a Senate seat, he is fulfilling his dream role as ‘the people’s proxy” (his words) by cracking wise show at Ms. Sotomayor’s confirmation hearings.

Instead of asking substantive questions of the nominee, Mr. Franken encouraged Ms. Sotomayor to reminisce about her memories of the TV show ‘Perry Mason,’ and how it inspired her career.

Never mind that Mr. Mason was a defense attorney who lost only one case. (Although, it could be argued, he never lost a case – either that or that he lost three of them.)

He somehow inspired Ms. Sotomayor to become a prosecutor.

Which somehow reminds us of Ms. Sotomayor’s claims to be a lifelong baseball fan – while at other times telling the media that she “has no special interest in the sport.”

Still, who cares about the details?

It makes for good circus for the masses.

    It’s nice to know the Clown Senator is asking such probative questions. I have to agree with Rush though, I think she got their so called questions last week if not earlier. He didn’t have time to come up with something more substantive so he remembered that she watched “Perry Mason” as a kid. Of course the clown did as well (or so he’d have us believe) so that’s the big question he asked while having his staff come up with something more brilliant.

    And this brings dignity and intelligence to Congress – much less this Supreme Court Justice hearings – how exactly?

    Best to keep your mouth shut and thought a fool, than open it and prove it. So we see that Stuart Smalley wasn’t a character but taken from his real life.

    We need to get the Cult of Personality groupies, Special Interest Groups fans and the perpetually immature out of government before they destroy America.

    And yes, listening to the sound bite – it gives one the sense that she knew the questions beforehand – so what – this is indeed (as Senator Grahamnesty implied in his open) a mere dog and pony show -complete with the Clown.

      Couldn’t have said it better! Just trying to figure out who the real clown is…there are soooo many! Plus, enough BS to outdo circus day!
