seanrobins - you bring out a point that I wanted to make - what about The One (tm)? Half of him (the ahmm, 'black' half) doesn't qualify for reparations, but the white half does qualify for paying reparations. . .Interesting quandry - would he pay? Should he pay? Shows the idiocy factor of this little gem of an idea.

Second (as mentioned earlier) the 'blacks' of today weren't/aren't slaves - not a one - so what are they being reparationed for? Something that happened 7.25 generations ago? And I have never owned a slave - so why should I pay for something that happened 7.25 generations ago?

And lastly - I am mixed - do I present the same situation as The One (tm) - no because I'm not halfican. My father's people arrived in America at the turn of the century (or slightly before) - oops - no slave owners there. My mom -well most of it was so pasty white - and northern and un-educated - that they did not even know what a slave was. [There is much speculation and questions - and of course the 'family secret' as to when and who the color was added to the family line- but it is settled/known that it is Native American] And the woman who raised me - her father sold himself into bondage to get to America - as he knew he'd have a better chance - Swedish/English white - and he did advance of his own education and labor (also arrived in America after the turn of the century) - nope not a slave owner there.

Which ends up being the issue - America is not about success, winning, and getting rich it is about the right to pursue freely life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - the success or failure in such pursuit - is one's own responsibility not the taxpayers nor the governments.

Might they want to refer to the Bible - 'You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly enough to take the speck out of your brother's eye.' (Matthew 7:5) All people's have conquered and been conquered - by the reparations scammers stance - we all owe each other a living in some way or form. And yes some peoples do seem to have taken the brunt of 'historical' nastiness - but - take a look at history and current events - there are no winners or losers if you start the victim and one-upmanship game. 'And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.' (Mark 3:25)
Shame on the reparations pushers - they are intentionaly trying to destroy America from within.

There is no logic to proposed reparations. It would be virtually impossible to implement. It would amount to little more than handing our money to others based solely on their skin tone.

>>>purposes for Blacks as part of reparations along with low interests business loans for economic development for the Black community."

How much more perfect can the scamming from the City with the Broad Scammers get, from that Great Scummy state of Illinois get?
First you've got Daly I and Daly II.
You've got decades of corrupt unions and organized crime. Al Capone must be a true hero around those parts.
Then you've got Blaggy and Bambi and Rezko and Wright and so on and so on.
And then you've got those who would actually ACCEPT an apointment under these circumstances from the type of creep that Blaggy is....Whom we must see as the lowest of the bottom-feeders who are willing to wallow in the pusillanimous just to get a taste.,..
The last is what Burris appears to be.
Will there be no end to all of this.
Now Burris is revealing some of his grand schemes.......
Will the "Fund" require proof that one is descended from slave blood.....or will Bambi's kids qualify? Would Bambi?

"4) We don’t even know if Mr. Obama is for or against reparations. AFAIK, he has never been asked by our watchdog media."

Well, I shall enlighten you then. Mr. Obama isn't for reparations; he feels that they don't go far enough. He had a speech upon the subject not too long ago, you should look it up.

Also, a amusing antidocte:

My family fought in the Civil War for the Confederacy. I'm quite proud of them, but I note that not one of them owned a slave. My family history, which traces back to John Adams (I'm a direct relative of his), has kept his belief that slavery is wrong and immoral

I mention this because when I mentioned this to my black co-workers, they scoffed at me for being so "blind to the truth." Then we got into discussions about this very subject. They...weren't quite happy at me when I told them that they already had plenty of reperations (see video I post'd on here in another post).

Good times.

After the civil war blacks had their 2nd Amendment rights violated so I think the first thing we should do is make arming of all black people mandatory, starting in Chicago, NYC, Boston, Philidelphia and DC. One long gun and one pistol each and 500 rounds of ammunition. Of course if they feel they need more reparations they can take it from there. The arms would be paid for with Pay-Per-View pre-pay packages. Popcorn is optional.

Blacks have been treated with kid gloves and afforded immense advantages for the last 40 years.

They have already been given reparations worth many trillions of dollars. Affirmative action alone is nearly priceless. After all, look at Obamy, who never worked a day in his life, and whose only skill is triple talking.

In the workplace, blacks are treated like little china dolls. Everyone has seen work groups of untouchable, incompetant, but well paid blacks. Where are the similar groups of Hispanics, Asians, handicapped people, fat people, short people, ugly people. They don't exist, of course.

Despite it all, 25% of black males are incarcerated in their lifetimes. If it wasn't for the kid gloves treatment, the % would be higher. The out of wedlock birthrate is 70%. The drop-out rate is astonishing. The culture is a cesspool. Their leaders are imbeciles.

And as someone in this thread has said, every other ethnic group in this country has faced barriers here and in the country's of their origins. Slavery has existed since mankind emerged from caves. It still exists today. Ironically, the United States should be praised to the heavens for abolishing it at a cost of over 2% of the male population at the time....equivalent to over 3 million deaths today (6 times greater than the U.S. fatalities in WWII).

If 40 years of kid gloves treatment yields the results obvious to anywone who cares to look, what IS enough?

And there is no way I'll ever pay a cent of direct reparations. I'll be manning a machine-gun nest before that happens.

if we want blacks to be fully informed ,committed citizens of this great country

IMO, There lies the problem. The black culture is different from the white culture. I know this from working and socializing with numerous blacks folks over the years. I am not saying the black folks are wrong and the white folks are right, but they are different. I really dont think you can argue with that.

sure it does. I just think that the loudest most offensive of the black community are the ones that we resond to. In my experience most blacks dont wish for reparations, celebrate Kwaanzaa. smoke crack or belong to a street gang , however since some do there is a tendency to stereotype them.Hell, I dont have an answer to our racial problems, it just seems to me that if we want blacks to be fully informed ,committed citizens of this great country we need to treat them as such. And unfortunately that doesnt always happen

"Guys, lets all calm down this will never happen and we are getting all worked up by an 8 year old article in an obscure communist rag."

I'm not sure anyone is particularly worked up.

But...

1) the Chicago Defender is not an obscure Communist rag. (FWIW, I don't believe Frank Davis ever wrote for it. It's not listed in any of the bios of him I have read.)

The Chicago Defender is one of the oldest black newspapers in the country and it is now owned by the largest black newspaper chain in the country.

2) The article is from 8 years ago, but as noted above, Mr. Burris still wants reparations to happen.

3) Mr. Burris is not alone. The NAACP, and (probably) the CBC, as well as John Conyers, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are for reparations. BTW, Mr. Burris had a top position at PUSH at one point in his brilliant career.

4) We don't even know if Mr. Obama is for or against reparations. AFAIK, he has never been asked by our watchdog media.

OK let's take a look at this logically. These people were given an all expenses paid ocean cruise to a beautiful moderate southern climate where they were given housing on beautiful southern plantations. Food and clothing was provided. They participated in a rigorous aerobic exercise program provided by their employer. Now the way I see it they owe us money for taking them out of a disease ridden country full of people and animals that were bent on killing them and eating them and that had a horribly hot climate unfit for humans. And what are we going to do about the 95% of these ingrates that didn't come to the US but went to the Caribbean or South America? How do we get them to pay?
