Sheriff: Illegals May Get Gulf Spill Work

From an outraged (at the sheriff) Associated Press:

La. sheriff fears illegal immigrants help cleanup

June 9, 2010

NEW ORLEANS — A sheriff in suburban New Orleans has asked federal authorities to investigate reports that illegal immigrants are working on the Gulf oil spill cleanup effort.

St. Bernard Parish Sheriff Jack A. Stephens said Wednesday that he asked Immigration and Customs Enforcement weeks ago to look into the reports.

Stephens says he wants to protect the community from "criminal elements" and not "people who want to earn an honest buck."

By definition illegal aliens cannot “earn an honest buck” in this country.

Immigrant rights groups lament that the request comes at a time when many people are searching for work.

Yes, many US citizens are looking for work. But their jobs are being taken away by illegal aliens.

Stephens says his office has set up checkpoints and is working with agencies on a credential system for BP cleanup contractors.

ICE spokesman Brian Hale says the agency has conducted training on hiring requirements and performed work authorization checks, all of which were valid.

And, of course, we believe them.

The solution to illegal problem is really simple. Substantial fines for those caught employing them – and the problem would solve it self immediately.

No one in Washington is willing to solve this problem.

      I guess illegal aliens COULD hepl reduce the oil slick…….so long as you kept them out of the water. ;-}

We could get a trifecta going if these ‘workers’ are illegal, gay and women. Then we wouldn’t be able to call them out under any circumstances.

  3. Right of the People says:

I didn’t realize they were that absorbent.

    • JohnMG says:

Well, you have to slice ’em really thin, and they aren’t re-cyclable, so there is a problem with disposal. It requires HAZMAT certification and strict licensing.

Not exactly a “green” job, but then, a job’s a job, right?

    • jobeth says:

Do you think maybe its because they come from such a dry area in the desert country?
It would make sense that they would be more absorbent.

Right of the People…that was funny…:-D

Hi, DEZ. Long time, no hear from you. You doing OK?

    • DEZ says:

Doing fine, I started missing this place.

    • JohnMG says:

      Glad to see you’re back.

We still get the occasional troll but they aren’t nearly the fun they used top be. Most of the moonbats are too embarrassed to come here and get spanked for their stupidity.
