Hero Mao Offered US 10M Chinese Women
From a bemused Associated Press:
US envoy Henry Kissinger meets with Chinese president Mao Zedong, 24 November 1973 in Beijing. Mao proposed sending 10 million Chinese women to the United States, in talks with Kissinger in 1973, according to documents released Tuesday.
Mao Offered Women to U.S.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Amid a discussion of trade in 1973, Chairman Mao Zedong made what Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger called a novel proposition: sending tens of thousands, even 10 million, Chinese women to the United States.
“You know, China is a very poor country,” Mao said, according to a document released by the State Department’s historian office. “We don’t have much. What we have in excess is women. So if you want them we can give a few of those to you, some tens of thousands.”
A few minutes later, Mao circled back to the offer. “Do you want our Chinese women?” he asked. “We can give you 10 million.”
After Kissinger noted Mao was “improving his offer,” the chairman said, “We have too many women … They give birth to children and our children are too many.”
“It is such a novel proposition,” Kissinger replied in his discussion with Mao in Beijing. “We will have to study it.”
See how Communist dictators look out for their people?
(Of course Mrs. Clinton dreams of the day when she can do the same with white male conservatives.)

Remember the Blues Brothers scene in the restaurant? “How much for the little girl”? “Your women, we wish to buy your women”?
Ten million Chinese women, hmm. Okay, I’ll take them. But what’s everybody else going to get?

Too weird. It speaks volumes about the nature of Chinese culture that someone could think this is a normal or reasonable thing to say.
Now that I think of it, there’s a Maxine Hong Kingston book called “Chinamen”, (fictional), in which an old patriarch with healthy grandsons longs for a girl in the family. He takes his newest grandson and TRADES HIM to a neighboring family for their baby girl. And they AGREE. It was actually kind of a sweet scene, but it does speak to the value the Chinese place on women. As if we needed more evidence.

Musette;
…”it does speak to the value the Chinese place on women…”
You’d think he’d have held out for TWO girls and a DVD player.

Boy, that Mao! What a cut up.
I wonder what the Don Juan of Diplomacy, Henry Kissinger’s first thought was. Probably something close to 1stofight, I imagine. Oh sure, it would be great at first, but Imagine the mess we’d be in a couple years down the road.
“AWLL U DO IS COME IN A LEAVE CWAP AWL OVA Da HAUS!” “I - M - TYWAD - UPH - CYEAN - HUP - AFTA - U!” “U SLOB!” “I KNOW. I WATCH O-PWA” “YOU NEVAH PLAY 4 WIT ME!” “YOU JUST HOP ON - N - CHOP/CHOP - U DONE!” “I M LEAVIN’ U ND MOVIN BACK TO MUTHHHA!”
Ah, McGoo. You’ve done it again.

The idea speaks volumes about Communism. People (women) are valued as commodities rather than Human Beings. Are you listening Jane Fonda, Oliver Stone, Sean Penn, Naomi Campbell, Danny Glover, Susan Sarrandon ( __________ ) fill in the blank line with your favorite Hollywood
douche-bag, oops, I meant celebrity.February 16th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
Cardoza and Fox and company sent us 20 million.
I recall Stalin’s take on the matter went along the lines of, “10 deaths is a tragedy. 10 million is a statistic.”

Isn’t China now facing a gender disparity because it is now common practice to abort or murder shortly after birth any girls?
Won’t they - by like 2030 - have a 2:1 ration of men to women, which would cause a massive population decline? (Not that the communists would mind, they’ve never been big on that whole human dignity/respect for life thing).
