Mark Foley Not Backing Obama – Update

A shocker from the showbiz outlet, Variety:

Spotted: Mark Foley

October 20

There have been so many scandals since October, 2006, the month that I launched this blog, that I just about forgot who Mark Foley was.

I got an excited phone call yesterday from two friends, TV producer Richard Ayoub and talent manager Dolores Cantu, who were having lunch at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Sitting the next table over was Foley, who resigned just before the midterms after the revelation that he sent inappropriate e-mail messages to a congressional page.

Ayounb and Cantu didn’t know immediately recognize him until he told them he had once been in Congress. The jist of the conversation then went like this, according to both:

Cantu: “You didn’t have an affair, did you?”

Foley: “Well, I was…”

Realizing who was in their midst, Ayoub, who has a penchant for devilish humor, offered a deadpanned admonishment, “You should not flirt with congressional pages.” Foley went on to say that nothing happened, he didn’t realize that the page was only 18, and that he perhaps was a bit tipsy when he sent the e-mails.

What they both said was how great Foley looked, and he was particularly excited about Colin Powell’s endorsement that morning of Obama. Foley said he also favors Obama.

And Foley also expressed some pleasure in watching the latest developments from his old Florida district: His successor, Democrat Tim Mahoney, is now in trouble for a series of extramarital affairs.

Come to think of it, maybe this isn’t such a shocker after all.

(Thanks to the great Clarice Feldman for the heads up.)

Rush Limbaugh was gracious enough to pick up this story. Which, in turn, has caused Mr. Foley to contact his show to protest that this story was third hand and inaccurate.

Mr. Foley says he has already voted — and not for Mr. Obama.

I suppose these lifelong infiltrators believe the time has come to cross over and show their true colors – their true allegiance.
It’s been going on for decades and decades, so much so that I really don’t recognize much conservatism (all aspects) in the Republican Party anymore

Were scr#@wed! Time for a third Party?

  2. Consilience says:

No surprise that a child molester would be supporting the anointed-most-high-and-mighty-obamanation…
What is wrong with Fallen Foley is what is wrong with the Washington political “class” he left behind (no pun intended)—NO ACCOUNTABILITY…we get the government we deserve when we don’t hold our representatives ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS AND THEIR VOTES. The sad truth emerging is that more Americans would rather be “taken care of” than take care of themselves and hold their government accountable for their actions. As for me and my family, LIBERTY with ACCOUNTABILITY trumps all parties, political classes be damned.

  3. Icarus says:

Ditto for me… LIBERTY with ACCOUNTABILITY to my FAITH and FAMILY!

  4. Liberals Demise says:

As for me….Give me liberty are give me….something to shoot at!

  5. Reality Bytes says:

It takes a Mark Foley to prove the old San Fran saying, “It’s a short hop over, but a long walk back.”

Thanks Congressman for your public service by pointing out that Washington is the last place where we should be looking for leadership.

  6. pinandpuller says:

Foley should have got drunk, voted for McCain and sent Rush an email.

  7. Consilience says:

You know, Foley can’t help himself—it’s a mental thing (chasing young pages and the like). The last thing he would do is behave as a responsible adult—because he’s into the whole “what’s in it for me” scam, which is how he treated his House seat. Mr. Foley is an unscrupulous narcissist more concerned with scratching his itch than the well-being of our nation. There’s a place in hell for folks like this.

  8. brad says:

Unlike the Democrats with KKK Robert Byrd, and involuntary manslaughter guy-Ted Kennedy, I hope this dork is completely disowned by the Republicans. He embarrassed himself, family, party, and country. Go get drunk and seduce men on your own time, or just move to San Fran where this stuff is accepted daily.

  9. Consilience says:

Ease on the kool-aid sweet2us. Seems like the only hate in this instance is coming from you. HA! Class envy hatred has no virtue. Rush gives more to charity a year than both of us make, I dare say.
