Michelle Obama thesis was on racial divide

February 23, 2008Michelle Obama’s senior year thesis at Princeton University, obtained from the campaign by Politico, shows a document written by a young woman grappling with a society in which a black Princeton alumnus might only be allowed to remain “on the periphery.”

“My experiences at Princeton have made me far more aware of my ‘blackness’ than ever before,” the future Mrs. Obama wrote in her thesis introduction. “I have found that at Princeton, no matter how liberal and open-minded some of my white professors and classmates try to be toward me, I sometimes feel like a visitor on campus; as if I really don’t belong. Regardless of the circumstances under which I interact with whites at Princeton, it often seems as if, to them, I will always be black first and a student second.”
The thesis, titled “Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community” and written under her maiden name, Michelle LaVaughn Robinson, in 1985, has been the subject of much conjecture on the blogosphere and elsewhere in recent weeks, as it has been “temporarily withdrawn” from Princeton’s library until after this year’s presidential election in November. Some of the material has been written about previously, however, including a story last year in the Newark Star Ledger.
Obama writes that the path she chose by attending Princeton would likely lead to her “further integration and/or assimilation into a white cultural and social structure that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full participant.” …

“Why a restricted thesis?” asked blogger-pastor Louis Lapides on his site Thinking Outside the Blog. “Is the concern based on what’s in the thesis? Will Michelle Obama appear to be too black for white America or not black enough for black America?”
Attempts to retrieve the document through Princeton proved unsuccessful, with school librarians having been pestered so much for access to the thesis that they have resorted to reading from a script when callers inquire about it. Media officers at the prestigious university were similarly unhelpful, claiming it is “not unusual” for a thesis to be restricted and refusing to discuss “the academic work of alumni.”
The Obama campaign, however, quickly responded to a request for the thesis by Politico…
The 1985 thesis provides a trove of Michelle Obama’s thoughts as a young woman, with many of the paper’s statements describing the student’s world as seen through a race-based prism.
“In defining the concept of identification or the ability to identify with the black community,” the Princeton student wrote, “I based my definition on the premise that there is a distinctive black culture very different from white culture.” Other thesis statements specifically pointed to what was seen by the future Mrs. Obama as racially insensitive practices in a university system populated with mostly Caucasian educators and students: “Predominately white universities like Princeton are socially and academically designed to cater to the needs of the white students comprising the bulk of their enrollments.”
To illustrate the latter statement, she pointed out that Princeton (at the time) had only five black tenured professors on its faculty, and its “Afro-American studies” program “is one of the smallest and most understaffed departments in the university.” In addition, she said only one major university-recognized group on campus was “designed specifically for the intellectual and social interests of blacks and other third world students.” (Her findings also stressed that Princeton was “infamous for being racially the most conservative of the Ivy League universities.”) …
No wonder they wanted it locked up until after the elections were safely over.

Perhaps that is because Mrs. Obama majored in sociology and minored in African-American studies.
I sometimes feel like a visitor on campus; as if I really don’t belong.
Perhaps this was because she herself knew that her test scores would not normally have gotten her accepted in Princeton.

Such an outlook is also known as “racism.”
On its own this quite a disturbing revelation. But coupled with her other recent remarks, she seems to be one angry and bitter woman.
So why did Mr. Obama marry her? It makes one wonder just how different he really is, after all.
Bear in mind that Mrs. Obama’s character is very important.
For if recent history is any guide, she could very well be the next Democrat candidate for president in 2016.

Meanwhile, Politico reports on what will rapidly become taboo reporting in the MSM who is carrying water for the socialist Obama. His connection with home grown terrorists, William Ayers and Bernadette Dohrn, two rapid members of the radical 60’s left wing who tried to blow up Army officers and wound up blowing up their own. It seems that when Obama was personally chosen to replace an outgoing (and radical left wing) Illinois senator, Obama was trotted over to Ayers/Dohrn’s home to plan the Messiah’s politica ascention which has been at the speed of light. Obama continued to be friends with these slugs, serving on different committees with Ayers.

This is the most complete synopsis of Obama’s relationship with 60’s radicals that should have been put in jail for the rest of their lives. Instead, these two are now college professors. Go figure.

Michelle Obama is a very accomplished and intelligent woman who not only achieved the classic American Dream, but also greatly exceeded it. Even though it was through Affirmative Action and Princeton’s Legacy that she was admitted to Princeton, she worked hard and accomplished what the majority of American’s, White or Black, only dream of.
Yet, she stands before audiences today with a huge chip on her shoulder imagining she is downtrodden because of her race.
She fails to see that Affirmative Action only got her in the door and the rest she worked hard to achieve herself.
Nothing in life worth having really comes easy and to want to give others an easy road sets them up for the same chip she has, not appreciating her own accomplishments because of the perception she didn’t earn them.
Sad that she can’t see the Liberalism she advocates is the chip she carries on her shoulder.

When will it ever end? Years ago a friend told me that there were good reasons for something, and then there was the real reason for something. As long as people seek good reasons for failure instead of ways to succeed, they will find countless reasons for failure.
Once again, Michelle Obama, in part, is the successful woman she is today because she is an American, not in spite of the fact she is an American.

LewWaters, no kidding……….. but turns out, the chip is more the size of a boulder. In 1985 Ms. O’bama felt this way? Really? Actually, with all of the opportunities that were laid at her feet, it’s sad that she couldn’t enjoy her College years, her life and her Country.
The thesis theme should have been “How to Keep Racism Alive in Ten Easy Steps”. Her attitude towards “whites” (notice M.O. didn’t mention any other race) is insulting. (You watch, we all will probably be labeled “racists” for even discussing this story.)
Lastly, I don’t see how her questionnaire results proved her thesis? (Weren’t only 20% of the 400 questionnaires sent out, returned with answers?)

Maybe she didn’t even write her thesis. Seems she can’t remember what she supposedly wrote, but I think it is important to point out that blacks only comprise about 12% of the population. If her husband is going to be president of the US, he’d better be president of 100% if the US population. Her writings (if indeed they are her’s) and her oratory reveals a racism and bigotry that would be condemned were it to issue from anyone else who didn’t claim black ancestry. No wonder there is such an effort to quash this information. If hispanics are already edgy about supporting blacks this might be too much for them to bear, and whites are tired of being told that we’ve not done enough. All we’re dealing with here is a highly polished Maxine Waters. If you want to play the race card, bitch, bring it on. I’d say you’re sorta outnumbered!

Has Michelle Obama traced her roots back to slavery?
Her husband has no slavery roots, unless his mother was Slavic as I’ve said before.
I believe there is a subtle non-slave/mixed race under tone to Barack’s support.
It is interesting to see how far a liberal black Democrat with a slave ancestry got in a run for President. We saw how far Sharptongue went.
What is Jesse Jackson’s lineage? Any slavery?

Many of the emotions she documents (alienation,etc.) happen to many college students, regardless of color, who are tempted to blame something (status, cliques,etc.) for it, but end up just pushing on and trying to assimilate. Poor, ignorant Michelle, though, has the “luxury” of just blaming everything on her skin color—no doubt a result of being raised by racists. This woman would be a disastarous first lady. She makes Bill look like a good first lady–and he would be the first black first lady, too!

Mr & Mrs. Obama are at a fund raiser when all of a sudden two orthodox Jews push their way to the front of the receiving line, shoving people out of the way so they can shake hands with Presidential candidate.
After they leave, Mrs. Obama turns to her husband & says, “What the Hell was that?!”
Obama replies: “That’s Hasidum”.
Mrs. Obama still confused says, “Ah see dem too but what da Hell are they!”
If you think this is in bad taste, then perhaps you’ll find Mr. Obama’s Rap Star Ubonics style in front of Urban black crowds is kept under wraps when addressing predominately white audiences.
If Woody Allen ever wants to do a remake of Zelig, perhaps he should call Mr. Obama. He’s doing a pretty good job of it himself.
