Shocker: Minority Behind UCSD ‘Noose’

From the California University at San Diego student newspaper, The Guardian:

Noose in Geisel Was Not Intended As a Threat

I have a story that needs to be heard. I am the girl you’ve read about, the one who hung the noose in Geisel Library.

Firstly, I’m writing to apologize. I don’t have an excuse for what I did, and I deeply regret it.

Secondly, I’m writing to hopefully put a little bit of faith back into the UCSD campus by clarifying that it was not an act of racism. This is what happened.

I found a small piece of rope on the ground earlier in the day. While I was hanging out with my friends a bit later, we tried jump-roping with it and making it into a lasso. My friend then took the rope and tied it into a noose. I innocently marveled at his ability to tie a noose, without thinking of any of its connotations or the current racial climate at UCSD. I left soon after with one of my friends for Geisel to study, still carrying the rope. After a bit of studying I picked up the rope to play with, and ended up hanging it by my desk. It was a mindless act and stupid mistake. When I got up to leave, a couple hours later, I simply forgot about it. This was Tuesday night.

Three days later, on Friday morning, I found out that the noose had been found and construed as another racist act on campus. I felt so ashamed and embarrassed, and the first thing I did was call the campus police and confess. I was hoping to clarify that this was not an act of racism before the incident got a full reaction from the campus. I gave my statement around 9 a.m. They thanked me for coming forward and for trying to clear up the issue.

Later, I received a campuswide e-mail saying that I confessed and had been taken into custody, which simply wasn’t true. One thing that is true is that I have been suspended. I know what I did was offensive — regardless of my intentions — I am just trying to say I’m sorry. As a minority student who sympathizes with the students that have been affected by the recent issues on campus, I am distraught to know that I have unintentionally added to their pain.

Will she be punished for her dastardly crime?

(Just kidding.)

But not to worry. There is already another ‘hate crime’ in the pipeline.

From the tireless race-baiters at the Associated Press:

Noose scribbled on bathroom door at UC Santa Cruz

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Santa Cruz, Calif. (AP) — Officials at the University of California, Santa Cruz say they found the image of a noose scribbled on the inside of a bathroom door.

The graffiti was discovered Monday in the school’s Earth and Marine Sciences building. School spokesman Jim Burns says the words "San Diego" and "lynch" were written on either side of it.

The graffiti follows a string of racially charged incidents at the University of California, San Diego. A noose was found dangling from a light fixture of a campus library last Thursday.

That incident followed an off-campus party mocking Black History Month on Feb. 15.

UC Santa Cruz Chancellor George Blumenthal said the graffiti clearly made reference to the noose found at UC San Diego.

He called the incident "deeply disturbing."

Sure it is.

I’m not sure what disturbs me more; The obvious lack of the media to make sure all the facts were in before they acted stupidly, or the fact that this little twit of a student thinks that just leaving a noose hanging from a light fixture wouldn’t draw any ire from anyone. Or was it that she wanted to draw ire but later grew a conscience, or that she’s just so incredibly out of touch with reality that it was truly an ignorant act.

Let’s say the student who did this was caucasian. What then? I dare say I’m glad the girl was suspended. But, I’ll wait until we hear from the masters of race relations, the bruthas Al and Jesse who will certainly weigh in on this poor, defensless, young african american woman who’s only crime was one of ignorance. (can I get an “amen”?)

But if it was a single white student, their world would be in ruin right now.

When I was in the Air Force, There was this one Girl who made claims of racism several times. Everytime it was investigated, her complaint was shown to be without merit. She was never charged with making false charges.

This just goes to show, people need to move on. If only the race baiters, Sharpton, Jackson, etc. would allow healing to happen, it would.

So many things to be so deeply disturbed about.

I can’t find time to worry for even a second that the budget deficit this year will be one trillion dollars

and the day is only 2/3 done.

  5. Liberals Demise says:

Hey……….where’s the outrage and Hellfire from the race baiters?

  6. Liberals Make Great Speedbumps says:

Yes of course, you race baiting bit*h. After receiving your annual force fed diet of “Whitey done us wrong” for the past month, you just blithely hang a noose and can’t fathom that it might stir the pot? Sure, I’m buying it.
