The NYT Reveals Name Of KSM Interrogator
From the foremost champions of the Valerie Plame folderol, the treasonous New York Times:
Inside a 9/11 Mastermind’s Interrogation
By SCOTT SHANE
Published: June 22, 2008WASHINGTON — In a makeshift prison in the north of Poland, Al Qaeda’s engineer of mass murder faced off against his Central Intelligence Agency interrogator. It was 18 months after the 9/11 attacks, and the invasion of Iraq was giving Muslim extremists new motives for havoc. If anyone knew about the next plot, it was Khalid Shaikh Mohammed.
The interrogator, Deuce Martinez, a soft-spoken analyst who spoke no Arabic, had turned down a C.I.A. offer to be trained in waterboarding. He chose to leave the infliction of pain and panic to others, the gung-ho paramilitary types whom the more cerebral interrogators called “knuckledraggers.”
Mr. Martinez came in after the rough stuff, the ultimate good cop with the classic skills: an unimposing presence, inexhaustible patience and a willingness to listen to the gripes and musings of a pitiless killer in rambling, imperfect English. He achieved a rapport with Mr. Mohammed that astonished his fellow C.I.A. officers…
Mr. Martinez, who by then had interrogated at least three other high-level prisoners, would bring Mr. Mohammed snacks, usually dates…
The story of Mr. Martinez’s role in the C.I.A.’s interrogation program, including his contribution to the first capture of a major figure in Al Qaeda, provides the closest look to date beneath the blanket of secrecy that hides the program from terrorists and from critics who accuse the agency of torture…
Mr. Martinez declined to be interviewed; his role was described by colleagues. Gen. Michael V. Hayden, director of the C.I.A., and a lawyer representing Mr. Martinez asked that he not be named in this article, saying that the former interrogator believed that the use of his name would invade his privacy and might jeopardize his safety. The New York Times, noting that Mr. Martinez had never worked undercover and that others involved in the campaign against Al Qaeda have been named in news articles and books, declined the request…
To this article the editors at the New York Times appended this reprehensible explanation:
Editors’ Note
By THE NEW YORK TIMES
Published: June 22, 2008The Central Intelligence Agency asked The New York Times not to publish the name of Deuce Martinez, an interrogator who questioned Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and other high-level Al Qaeda prisoners, saying that to identify Mr. Martinez would invade his privacy and put him at risk of retaliation from terrorists or harassment from critics of the agency.
After discussion with agency officials and a lawyer for Mr. Martinez, the newspaper declined the request, noting that Mr. Martinez had never worked under cover and that others involved in the campaign against Al Qaeda have been named in news stories and books. The editors judged that the name was necessary for the credibility and completeness of the article.
The Times’s policy is to withhold the name of a news subject only very rarely, most often in the case of victims of sexual assault or intelligence officers operating under cover.
Mr. Martinez, a career analyst at the agency until his retirement a few years ago, did not directly participate in waterboarding or other harsh interrogation methods that critics describe as torture and, in fact, turned down an offer to be trained in such tactics.
The newspaper seriously considered the requests from Mr. Martinez and the agency. But in view of the experience of other government employees who have been named publicly in books and published articles or who have themselves chosen to go public, the newspaper made the decision to print the name.
Is there a more despicable and hypocritical organization than the New York Times under the sun?
This reporter and his editors should go to jail.
Of course in a better world, since we are at war, several employees of The Times should be facing a firing squad for aiding and abetting the enemy.
Which they have done on a near daily basis for years.

Un-friggin-believable..!! The Slimes should change their slogan to “All the news that’s fit to destroy the US”. Their alacrity in undermining the GWOT is just mind-boggling.
The DoJ should prosecute these a**hats post haste. Unfortunately, they will likely fail to do so, sigh…
If I were in Mr. Martinez’s shoes, I would sue the pants off the Slimes in civil court, literally.

In what way does revealing the name of the interrogator make the story more compete? It’s clear that the Slimes’ motive is to create a chilling effect - to intimidate people from doing their jobs and/or keep them from cooperating with our military. This is the same tactic that the Taliban uses on Afghanis who cooperate with the US, and that al Sadr’s thugs use in Iraq for the same purpose. They are disgusting.
By the way, here is our hero Scott Shane:

The hypocrisy is stunning - in relating the vapid, shallow and totally incorrect non-event of the outing of (un)covert CIA agent Valerie’covertinherownmind’Plame these traitors actually do out a CIA interrogator.
I agree GM - if I were him, I’d sue. . .because his days as a CIA interrogator are over - and you know damn well none of the msm would host, toast or even want to listen to him (such as they have for Ms Plame and her weasel husband Joe’MrAmbassador’Wilson).

Why are the left all apoplectic about Valeri Plame and Joe Wilson again?!?! I thought the left abhorred the release of names of CIA agents. Did I miss something here?

Well, according to The Times, Ms. Plame’s name being known put her in extreme danger. But publishing this information was in the public interest.
Never mind that Plame was a nobody know-nothing desk jockey — who in truth was outed to the media by her husband.
And this interrogator got KSM to admit to his role in 9/11 and other terrorist atrocities.
But, no, he’s not going to be in danger. Not at all.

NYT: noting that Mr. Martinez had never worked under cover and that others involved in the campaign against Al Qaeda have been named in news stories and books.
This is what the editor had to erase and replace with the huge lies about the CIA bimbo Plame….
NYT: noting that Valerie Plame had never worked under cover, and was merely window dressing for CIA parties and in charge of the copy machine until she overdosed on toner, it was the first time her name was used in relation to her job as secretary at the CIA instead of being the very popular winky holster at Washington gala events. Her job wasnt under cover, it was under the covers.
The New York Times as a news entity is worse by far than Pravda of the old Soviet Union. I take great heart in the fact that they are going down faster than Val in the congressional men’s room. I just wish it would happen sooner, rather than later. These despicable irresponsible morons have no idea what they are doing.
Oh yeah, I forgot to label this sarcasm lest someone get themselves all worked up again.

Interesting quote in the excuse article, “The editors judged that the name was necessary for the credibility and completeness of the article.”
Are they admitting the mulititude of anti-Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld articles published by the Slimes quoting “anonymous sources” are not credible or complete now?
Hypocrisy, plain and simple!!!
