‘Republicans for Choice’ Endorses McCain
By Penny Starr
February 06, 2008
(CNSNews.com) - The Republicans for Choice Political Action Committee has endorsed John McCain (R-Ariz.), saying he is the best candidate now that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is out of the presidential race.
The Republicans for Choice PAC supports Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion, and also wants the Human Life Amendment removed from the plank of the Republican Party.
Republicans for Choice founder and Chairwoman Ann E.W. Stone told Cybercast News Service that McCain’s pro-life position wasn’t an issue.
“(McCain) is (pro-life), but it’s not at the top of his agenda, not like Huckabee or the born-again Romney,” Stone said. “He’s shown his willingness to reach across the party, and we look forward to those discussions.” …
Somebody should tell Mr. Huckabee and those dupes delegates to the West Virginia convention.

Oh brother! Hang on to your hats everybody, it’s going to be a very bumpy ride.
I just read a great “dear john” letter over at Babalu blog that reflects the sentiment that a lot of Americans/Conservatives/Republicans feel.

The Gap between Republican and Conservative gets bigger and bigger. So don’t be surprised if we “choose” not to support the Republican “Party” on it’s slow excruciating train ride to socialism. ‘Nuff Said!

This should surprise no one. McCain’s record does little to comfort real conservatives whose ideals and principles he holds in contempt. He demonstrated yesterday that he will say and do anything to achieve his goals, then do as he pleases afterward. None of his closely held liberal positions have been cast aside, they are merely temporarily flying below the radar and you’ll soon see them emerge once again.
As far as being able to work with the opposition party, his idea (and their’s) of compromise is, they get what they want and we get to roll over and play dead.
Do all of you really believe he would have received this endorsement if he was actually the staunch ProLife conservative he professes to be?
Vote Democrat!! Get the real thing, not some cheap imitation!

Republican for Hillary
I am a conservative Republican.
I am writing to confess a statement, which I never thought that I would utter: I will be voting for Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Although many of my peers cannot shed the image of the oily-faced, bespectacled 60’s radical – and are visceral at the prospect of a HRC administration. I would offer that the Hillary that we endure today is merely a Plutocrat in a Pantsuit. Gone are her days of burning flags or her training bra.
Since her lone foray into federal Socialist activism, Hillarycare – a complete failure, Clinton has refocused on a more tangible goal – self-preservation. This has helped her to accomplish exactly what I would hope out of a Hillary administration – nothing.
Senator John McCain, however, has been on quite the warpath. In his tenure he has done more to damage free American political speech (McCain-Feingold), American national sovereignty (McCain-Kennedy) and has publicly condemned the methods of our uniformed soldiers trying to protect us. The only thing missing are his Birkenstocks and his Che Guevara t-shirt.
I offer to you, my fellow conservatives- there is but one thing more dangerous to traditional American values than Commanderess-in-Chief, Hillary:
President John McCain.

Gardnerer: Both Hitlery and McVain are slime. Neither one is fit to lick Ronald Reagan’s cowboy boots. The only saving grace to McVain is that the SOB would step down when his term is up. Hitlery is so power mad that if that b*tch got into office, the only way she’d leave is if she were killed in a coup. In short, if she were elected, it would be the LAST election we’d have for quite some time.
You can take that to the bank.

Excellent link!!

The Best of all world’s now is for the conservative base to go and vote for Conservative Senators and Congressman and boycott or write in a conservative for President. As one caller said on talk radio, let the Clinton’s do what they do best, get people to come out and vote conservative in the mid-term elections and in ‘12.

Brilliant. Just brilliant. If you have a headache do you shoot yourself in the head to get rid of it too? Perhaps chop off thy hand if it offends thee?

Sigh. So depressed. When did the Republican Party stop being conservative? I know, I know, I keep asking that question. Maybe after this fiasco the Repubs will get together and ask themselves “What happend to the party of Ronald Reagan” and “How can we return to those values”. Either that or they’ll say “Hey, ain’t it great and prosperous for us to be just as corrupt as the Dhimmis?”
But in my depression, I’m sure that the return to Reagan values ain’t gonna happen.
Can’t wait to see what a Hitlary administration will do to the Status of Forces agreement in Germany. Last time the Clintoons were in the White House they sent Madeline not so Albright but twice as ugly over here to renegotiate the Status of Forces agreement. She was so shocked! (shocked! I tell ya) that U.S. service members actually were allowed to keep personal firearms over here. Rewrote the Status of Forces agreement for the Germans so that we would have to apply under their system.
Although I already had 3 weapons under the German system, I couldn’t register the others. Lost about $6000 of my personal property.
I do hate the Clintoons, and that’s just one of the reasons.
Ya know, they are called “Rights” for a reason.

McCain’s pro life voting record is about 80%. The “Republicans for Choice” group is a front for Planned Parenthood/NARAL. I doubt that its “members” have ever voted for a serious Republican.
February 7th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
That’s OK, McCain supports embryonic stem cell research anyway, so abortions are just a way to improve the stock of research materials for the programs he supports.
February 7th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
He is wrong on the embryonic stem cell research, especially the public funding part. Unfortunately, Congressman Vito Fossella, who was 100% pro life, went that way also. I hope he drops it. He is not a pro abort. Believe me, NARAL does not like McCain.
February 7th, 2008 at 1:43 pm
There is something that troubles me - what was the vote breakdown for McCain Feingold? Why didn’t Pres. Bush veto it? I recall that “campaign finance reform” was quite the vogue issue years ago. Who denounced it? I am not defending McCain - he was not my first choice - but why did so many people fall into line on this?
February 7th, 2008 at 2:02 pm
JulieJ; “Republicans for Choice” group is a front for Planned Parenthood/NARAL.”….”Believe me, NARAL does not like McCain.”
They liked him well enough to endorse him instead of a more conservative candidate. I think they know a Democrat when they see one. Now, so should everyone else.
Conservatives don’t have a horse in this race. The only scenario I see is McCain choosing Huckabee for #2 in a futile attempt to secure the conservative vote.
Such effrontery!

John McCain voted to DEFUND Planned Parenthood. Get your facts straight - he is pro life!
February 7th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Julie, you can cherry-pick your facts if you want to, and I agree he has cast some pro-life votes. But you would do well to review ALL of his votes vis-a-vis ProLife issues. His positions in his home state are those minimally necessary to satisfy his constituents. His voting record is thus pretty much as varied as the rest of his supposed conservative stances.
(Sigh) But I guess he’s all we’ve got. :-[
February 7th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Yes, and we will have to live with it. I am sure that Planned Parenthood will campaign AGAINST him.
February 7th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Probably. Which points to a real connundrum for McCain. Everyone should have been suspicious when the NYT endorsed him. Any goodwill he might hope for from those quarters will evaporate the minute he’s oficially the nominee.
Too bad, too. But “lay down with dogs–wake up with fleas”.
February 7th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
The Times mentioned his refusal to “support women’s reproductive rights” and his refusal to “support gay marriage” as being not very enlightened of him. Of course, they are going to support the pro abortion pro terrorist Demo every single time. Their endorsement is a joke!
February 7th, 2008 at 5:27 pm
The whole point is in the name of “reaching across the aisle” everything McCain believes is up for grabs.
Government paid abortion on demand for all? Perhaps not, but one can easily hear McCain rationalizing how funding for Planned Parenthood in the future should be given as a “middle ground” to avoid “partisan bickering.”
That “partisan bickering” he detests is, of course, what our country was founded on. Read the accounts of the debates in the first Continental Congress if you want to see some real vitriol …
February 7th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
BillK; “to avoid “partisan bickering.”
Compromise is the ability to delude onself by thinking that, in giving up something one isn’t strong enough to retain, one has somehow attained a victory.
And you’re correct. The founding fathers REALLY played hardball. That’s why it took a Bill of Rights before the Constitution would be ratified, and why it took so many years to accomplish said feat.
