“China and Russia have called on all sides for restraint.”

I find this particularly rich, as for the past 50 years, they have been the other side. ‘We are calling for restraint on our part’ just doesn’t make much sense as a public statement. It’s like I had a cousin who I went to play paintball with one time, and every time he would get in a fire fight, he would always yell ‘cease fire!’ to the other side, keep shooting himself, and then when they shot back, he’d yell, ‘I said cease fire dang it!’.

But I will bet they have scheduled follow-on meetings and have their schedules blocked out for the next couple of weeks. This puts them in the media limelight and makes them all “important” and stuff. As long as they don’t actually do something stupid like actually resolve the issue, they can keep their pictures in the papers for months!
