Sierra Club: The EPA’s Big Polluters Rule

From the tax exempt 501c3 non-partisan charity, the Sierra Club:

Hold Big Polluters Accountable

Right now only a handful of sources, including coal power plants, are responsible for more than half of all the global warming pollution in the United States. It’s time to hold these mega-polluters responsible for their share of the dirty air.

The EPA is proposing The Big Polluters Rule to crack down on the worst offenders, but they need your help to take on Big Oil and Coal — send a message to the Public Register today to show your support!

  1. Personalize the message text below with your own words, if you wish.
  2. Complete the form below with your information.
  3. Click the Take Action button to send the letter to EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson and the public register.

And here is the letter we are instructed to send, after ‘personalizing’:

Dear Administrator Jackson,

Right now only a handful of sources, including coal power plants, are responsible for more than half of all the global warming pollution in the United States. These mega-polluters should be held responsible for their share.

EPA’s Big Polluters rule is a major step toward holding these facilities accountable. By focusing on cleaning up the largest sources of global warming pollution first, emissions can be cut quickly, while still helping our economy grow.

EPA is right to seek the most bang for its regulatory buck by taking on the big polluters first. The Big Polluters rule will result in real pollution reductions and help spur growth and development of clean energy technologies. I support EPA’s decision to efficiently and effectively get us on track towards a cleaner future.

Thank You,

But if carbon dioxide is now considered by the EPA to be the most dangerous pollutant on earth, aren’t human beings the true mega-polluters — for exhaling?

Surely Big Oil and Big Coal can’t compare with Big Breath.

We must all write to Ms. Jackson and beg her to take immediate action to stop us from exhaling ever again.

That would certainly be the biggest bang for the EPA’s regulatory buck.

“Right now only a handful of sources, including coal power plants, are responsible for more than half of all the global warming pollution in the United States. It’s time to hold these mega-polluters responsible for their share of the dirty air.”

Next: Tax people for farting or eating meat. Or breathing. Or having more than two children. Or decaying plant matter, all of which release carbon dioxide. You know it’s coming.

So sick of the entitlement driven control freaks of the environmentalist movement.

Bigger government regulation over our daily lives and punishing industries that keep our standard of living wonderful is not in keeping with liberty. We must be punished for our success.
