6 charged with plot on Army post in N.J.

Six Islamic militants from Yugoslavia and the Middle East were arrested on charges of plotting to attack the Fort Dix Army post and “kill as many soldiers as possible,” authorities said Tuesday.
In conversations secretly recorded by an FBI informant over the past year, the men talked about killing in the name of Allah and attacking U.S. warships that might dock in Philadelphia, according an FBI criminal complaint…
One suspect reportedly spoke of using rocket-propelled grenades to kill at least 100 soldiers at a time, according to court documents.
“If you want to do anything here, there is Fort Dix and I don’t want to exaggerate, and I assure you that you can hit an American base very easily,” suspect Mohamad Ibrahim Shnewer said in one conversation secretly recorded by a government informant, according to the criminal complaint.
“It doesn’t matter to me whether I get locked up, arrested or get taken away,” a suspect identified as Serdar Tatar said in another recorded conversation. “Or I die, it doesn’t matter. I’m doing it in the name of Allah.”
Another suspect, Eljvir Duka, was recorded saying: “In the end, when it comes to defending your religion, when someone is trying attacks your religion, your way of life, then you go jihad.” …
The FBI was tipped off in January 2006 when a shopkeeper alerted agents about a “disturbing” video he had been asked to copy onto a DVD, according to court documents. The video showed 10 men in their early 20s “shooting assault weapons at a firing range … while calling for jihad and shouting in Arabic ‘Allah Akbar’ (God is great),” the complaint said.
Six of the 10 men on the tape were identified as those arrested in the plot. They were arrested Monday trying to buy automatic weapons from an FBI informant, officials said.
Christie said one of the suspects worked at Super Mario’s Pizza in nearby Cookstown and delivered pizzas to the base…
Four of the men were born in the former Yugoslavia, one in Jordan and one in Turkey, officials said. All had lived in the United States for years. Three were in the country illegally; two had green cards allowing them to stay permanently; the other is a U.S. citizen.
Besides Shnewer, Tatar and Eljvir Duka, the other men were identified in court papers as Dritan Duka and Shain Duka. Checks with Immigration and Customs Enforcement show that the Dukas were illegally in the U.S., according to FBI complaints unsealed with their arrests.
Five of the men lived in Cherry Hill, a Philadelphia suburb about 20 miles from Fort Dix.
“They were planning an attack on Fort Dix in which they would kill as many soldiers as possible,” Drewniak said.
A law enforcement official, speaking on condition of anonymity because documents in the case remain sealed, said the attack was stopped in the planning stages. The men also allegedly conducted surveillance at other area military institutions, including Fort Monmouth, a U.S. Army installation, the official said.
By March 2006, the group had been infiltrated by an informant who developed a relationship with Shnewer, according to court documents. The informant secretly recorded meetings in August in which Shnewer said he and the others were part of a group planning to attack a U.S. military base, the complaints said.
Shnewer named Fort Dix and a nearby Navy base, explaining that the group “could utilize six or seven jihadists to attack and kill at least one hundred soldiers by using rocket-propelled grenades” or other weapons, the complaints said. The Navy base was not named in the papers…
The description of the suspects as “Islamic militants” renewed fears in New Jersey’s Muslim community. Hundreds of Muslim men from New Jersey were rounded up and detained by authorities in the months following the 2001 attacks, but none was connected to that plot.
“If these people did something, then they deserve to be punished to the fullest extent of the law,” said Sohail Mohammed, a lawyer who represented many of the detainees. “But when the government says ‘Islamic militants,’ it sends a message to the public that Islam and militancy are synonymous.”
“Don’t equate actions with religion,” he said.
No, their religion had nothing to do with this. Not at all.
Another suspect, Eljvir Duka, was recorded saying: “In the end, when it comes to defending your religion, when someone is trying attacks your religion, your way of life, then you go jihad.”
And all that talk about terrorists just following us home from Iraq is also foolishness.

New Jersey to consider abolishing death penalty

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - New Jersey lawmakers will consider abolishing the death penalty this week, starting a process that could see the liberal state become the first to scrap capital punishment since the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated it in 1976.
On Thursday, the judiciary committee of the state Senate will consider two bills calling for New Jersey to replace execution with life imprisonment without parole. Capital punishment in the state is already suspended under a moratorium passed by legislators in late 2005.
Sen. Ray Lesniak, a Democrat and sponsor of one of the bills, said he was confident that a combined bill would be passed by the panel and, while its fate in the full Senate was less certain, it was likely that the legislation would become law some time this summer.
Lesniak, a former supporter of the death penalty, said he had changed his mind largely because of the risk of executing an innocent person.
“We have seen so many cases of innocent people being sent to death row, it’s just not worth taking the chance,” he said.
But Sen. Nicholas Asselta, a Republican who supports the death penalty, argued that DNA testing eliminated the possibility of people being executed in error, and that capital punishment was a valid deterrent for the worst crimes.
“How can you not impose the death penalty on people like Osama bin Laden?” Asselta said.
Asselta predicted the full Senate would vote to abolish the death penalty because it was controlled by Democrats who would be supported by some Republicans.
Gov. Jon Corzine, a Democrat, is opposed to the death penalty, and has said he will sign any such bill after it is approved by the legislature, both of whose houses are controlled by Democrats…
Yeah, but where are you going to find any Osama bin Ladens in New Jersey?

On a serious note, my sister is a navycop out of a navybase in Jersey and would have been in the fight if they got so stupid. She’s a wicked shot and I hope would have sent a couple of these asshats to camel-humping hell for her brother.

This has been my question all along…
Suppose we capture OBL alive…
What court in what country will he be tried in?
What hard evidence is available?
If he’s found guilty, will he receive the death sentence or life in prison? (My understanding is that NY does not have the death sentence) Is any prison prepared for the security requirements for someone like OBL?
All considered, I hope the question never arises.

Is the Army’s security posture so lax that they allow foreign nationals to deliver pizzas on their posts? I used to deliver pizzas when I served in the military. I was hired specifically because I was active duty and I could deliver pizzas to the Navy base. See, the Navy didn’t just give access to the base to anyone who asked…
Unless one of the individuals is active duty and was planning and was planning an attack on his brothers and sisters in uniform…
In the case that he stole a set of post vehicle stickers, I hope that the Army wasn’t letting him on post without providing proper military identification…
I hope that the security poster at military facilities nation wide tighten up… at least a little.

I imagine he would proudly admit to it, so no evidence will be needed.
When this story first broke they were reporting the suspects as of Yugo descent. It took almost all day to admit they were Muslims. I want to believe that most Muslims are moderate, but more and more we are hearing of everyday people who are “inspired by” Al Qeada and not members of radical Islam. And judging on what is being taught in Mosques, as highlighted in Undercover Mosque, and the underground Sharia courts in Britain, Canada, and I sure there are probably some in America, it is getting harder to believe moderates exist.

Another interesting tidbit for the liberals, who deny the very existance of terrorism here and abroad:
In 1999 Fort Dix welcomed and received Muslims from the Serbia/Bosnia/Herzegovnia/Maldova region after Milosevic carried out his policy of genocide. 6,000 in total.
If this isn’t a glaring example of biting the hand that feeds you - it is clear liberals are incapable of any leadership position in America.
Of course, I imagine the good ole left will a) doubt the threat was serious, b) hire a team of lawyers to defend these scumbags, c) CAIR will go after the video store dude who first reported their video and suspicous “activities” and d) at the same ironic time - it’s Bush’s fault for not protecting America - if either a-c don’t pan out and/or overlook the fact Bubba welcomed those friendly Muslims from the region due to a Milosevic.
Yup, that about covers it all.

There are new reports that the ‘numbers’ for the Bosnian massacres were heavily inflated; that many of the people supposedly killed were in fact alive a year later or had been dead for some time, dug up and used for photo ops. Now I know we’re all sensitive about holocaust denial, but this source seemed credible and given what’s been going on, wouldn’t surprise me.
This is the second time a Bosnian Moslem has shot us up or tried to, isn’t it?
I apologize for not having the specific source, but it was on a respected site, so when I find it again, I’ll pass it along,

The Death Penalty in New Jersey is a joke. Nobody from Jersey has been put to death since the DP was reintroduced. The whole issue of abolishing it to protect a potentially “innocent” person from being put to death is purely symbolic. There have been some nasty, downright savages that should have been put to death for their crimes, but they all got away with life sentences. Osama himself could not be put to death in New Jersey, that’s how bad it is.
The whole argument is nothing but a pathetic joke. Next up for these clowns will be to protest “life imprisonment” as being cruel and unusual. They will work their way down the line until you get judges like the one in Vermont who refused to put away a child molester because the judge did not believe that punishment worked. The molester was a guy who repeatedly raped a girl for 5 years, starting when she was 6. This is where Jersey is heading to.

A religious connection here is rather obvious based on the reported audio taped statements. If there was any incitement of these ragtops by a radical Imam - I would hope the FBI would not shy away from bringing charges.

Just how many nations, religions, and people did Christ personnally kill to further His real religion of peace? True, christians, primarily catholics in the beginning, did advance their religion through the sword, but that was several hundered years after His death. Mohammurderer, on the other hand, did it all by his lonesome.
