Snowden Claims He Took Pay Cut To Spy On NSA

From the South China Morning Post:

Snowden sought Booz Allen job to gather evidence on NSA surveillance

Fugitive whistle-blower reveals for first time he took job at US government contractor with the sole aim of collecting proof of spying activities

By Lana Lam | 25 June 2013

Edward Snowden secured a job with a US government contractor for one reason alone – to obtain evidence of Washington’s cyberspying networks, the South China Morning Post can reveal.

For the first time, Snowden has admitted he sought a position at Booz Allen Hamilton so he could collect proof about the US National Security Agency’s secret surveillance programmes ahead of planned leaks to the media.

"My position with Booz Allen Hamilton granted me access to lists of machines all over the world the NSA hacked," he told the Post on June 12. "That is why I accepted that position about three months ago."

So Snowden also now says he took the job in order to expose how NSA was hacking into the computers of other countries. But how would he have known this beforehand? We suspect he didn’t. We suspect he just took the job hoping to find something he could leak. Anything.

Which is why he started out by leaking the Prism briefing slides, which turned out to be nothing.

And, lest we forget, Snowden has previously said that when was working for the CIA as a computer tech back in 2007, he was going to blow the whistle on the CIA for fixing DUI tickets. But he changed his mind. Probably because he couldn’t find any takers in the news media.

During a live global online chat last week, Snowden also stated he took pay cuts "in the course of pursuing specific work". He said: "Booz was not the most I’ve been paid." …

What self-sacrifice.

Snowden, who arrived in Hong Kong on May 20, first contacted documentary maker Laura Poitras in January, claiming to have information about the intelligence community. But it was several months later before Snowden met Poitras and two British reporters in the city.

Note that Snowden admits he contacted a documentary film maker in January, and yet he went to work for Booz in April. A radical leftist documentary film maker who has a history of ‘exposing’ NSA and America’s evil foreign policy in general.

So it looks to us like he just wanted to become famous, like Julian Assange and Bradley Manning.

He spent the time collecting a cache of classified documents as a computer systems administrator at Booz Allen Hamilton.

This is what we used to call ‘espionage.’ But now some people call it heroism. Which, unfortunately, is what happens when people become rightly afraid of their own government.

Asked if he specifically went to Booz Allen Hamilton to gather evidence of surveillance, he replied: "Correct on Booz."

The documents he divulged to the Post were obtained at Booz Allen Hamilton in April, he said. He intends to leak more of those documents later…

When his price is met.

I suspect you’ve nailed it again Steve. Instead of posting his life on Facebook and making foolish videos and posting them on Instagram or YouTube to try and gain fame, this narcisist decided his path to fame must hurt the US. Note that he didn’t have to attend university to be indoctrinated but a few years at community college and parents who pandered to his every need.

What’s most disturbing about this whole episode is that some, seen as Tea Party friendly, politicians are hestitant to expose this Jay Carney look alike for the traitor he is. He broke non-disclosure laws at the very least.

  2. Which is worst? That Snowdon was able to download damning documents about the surveillance state? Or, that agencies doing the spying were unable or unwilling to effectively protect their programs and documents? If he can do it so easily, what does this say about the Red Chinese hacking alliances? Eastern European criminal hackers? Nation state hackers? Moles, agents of influence, cyberwar partners, etc etc?

    Hmmm?

You and I will never know the truth. Never. Not about the players, what was done, Why. How. And what it all means in Real Context.

What I do know with total certainty is this – Secrecy Begets Tyranny – Robert H. Heinlein

PS – Booz Allen Hamilton – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Booz_Allen_Hamilton – the Carlyle Group

Either they’re really really really bad at vetting their employees, or this is a setup. By whom and why is the question we need to ask …

  3. Snowden has done one thing with the expertise of James Bond.
When all this first began we heard a torrent from the media that it was no big deal and that this… KID… this…DROPOUT KID… this 29 year old dropout kid had broken the law and he would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. (Just like all those bad guys in Benghazi will be held to account)
Then the lefties went screaming from lawbreaker, to criminal, to treasonous criminal. You’d half expect someone to stand up, give a big Darth Vader breath and screech “Rebel Scum”.
What I can’t get over is that we’re being surveiled in one way or another to protect us from terrorism that our president has made very clear doesn’t exist in the world anymore. That surveilance has alegedly stopped billions of terrorist attacks, but missed the Boston Bombers because they were muslim… so there was obviously no reason to suspect them… even though the Russians left a post it note on Obama’s fridge that said, “Hey, you may want to keep an eye on these guys. THEY’RE SUSPICIOUS TERRORIST TYPES!!! (yes there were 3 exclaimation points) And the entire surveilance program has been damaged to a degree heretofor unknown in our universe. Incalculable strife will rule the day because of this… KID… this DROPOUT KID… this 29 year old punk dropout kid.

If the security of our nation has been so fouled by the actions of Snowden, maybe instead of worrying about the punk kid we should be worried about the house of cards that appears to be our intelligence community. What happened that has turned our spies into the laughing stock of the entire planet? Our focus should be on those people in power who are both in charge, and simultaneously have no idea what’s going on in their own houses.
