Sob! Obama Is Losing Sleep Over Debt Deal

From Reuters:

Obama losing sleep as debt deal goes down to wire

WASHINGTON, July 28 (Reuters) – President Barack Obama is deeply involved in trying to win a debt deal and his White House was working flat out, aides said, pushing back against any impression Congress had sidelined the administration.

"He’s getting absolutely no sleep. He’s working tirelessly, meeting with his economic team, doing a lot of outreach, exploring all kinds of possibilities for compromise," top Obama aide Valerie Jarrett told Reuters Insider.

Even so, we are so relieved to learn that he isn’t just standing on the side of the ditch drinking a Slurpee. Maybe he will even get around to coming up with his own plan.

White House officials have blanketed U.S. cable television in the last few days to get their message over that Republicans were harming the U.S. economy by refusing to compromise over measures to cut the deficit and lift the borrowing ceiling.

Yes, we are so glad that Obama’s propaganda machine is ratcheting up the fearmongering. That is very responsible. (And great for the economy.)

Lawmakers must lift the country’s $14.3 trillion borrowing ceiling by an Aug. 2 deadline to act or risk a devastating default and downgrade of its vital AAA credit rating.

This is of course still a blatant lie, no matter how many times the media repeats it.

In fact, the person who has the power to bring about a default is Barack Hussein Obama. Because the only way the US will default on our debts is if Mr. Obama orders the Treasury not to pay our debts.

(Which, by the way, would be unconstitutional under the 14th Amendment, which everybody seems to have suddenly rediscovered.)

Obama Chief of Staff Bill Daley, key adviser David Plouffe and Jarrett herself have been almost constantly on air, while also reaching beyond the Beltway to regional press and radio.

"I don’t know how you can get more actively involved," Daley told CNN when charged that the White House has been relegated to the sidelines in the deficit debate by Congress. "I’m in constant conversations, as are many of our staff, with people on the Hill," he said.

He could come up with a plan, Mr. Daley. In fact, if Obama does not have a plan, he is on the sideline. No matter whom he calls or how often.

Vice President Joe Biden, who led bipartisan negotiations to explore a deal, has been a key conduit to Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell, with whom he has a rapport…

Which just goes to show how serious the White House is about the importance of this. They put their best man on the job.

Several press conferences and a prime-time televised address to the nation by the president from the stately East Room, plus a background briefing by senior Obama aides that went late into Friday night, have added to the controlled frenzy at the White House.

Just look at how unintentionally hilarious that sentence is.

This has translated into even longer days than normal at the White House, which already begin in the early hours of every morning as senior staff prepared for their daily 7:30 a.m. meeting in the office of the chief of staff.

Boo hoo. Lest we forget, Mr. Obama and the Democrats have had more than two and a half years to do something about our runaway spending. They have done nothing. They haven’t even presented a budget.

Maybe if they didn’t put off doing their homework until the last minute, they wouldn’t have to pull all-nighters.

Well, he’s certainly a tireless worker when it comes to campaign fundraisers, golf and endless vacations. But his effort on the budget can’t be making him lose any sleep.

  2. BigOil says:

At least they found the right person to write this piece…Alister Bull.

How many times has Barry told us he would not rest until everyone has a job? A man who reportedly routinely shows up after 9 AM to begin work. This slacker must be an insomniac.

  3. untrainable says:

He’s working tirelessly? What a joke. Barrack Hussein Obama has never, in his life OR tenure as president, worked tirelessly on anything other than bragging about himself and his greatness, popping all over the country on fundraising trips, and repeatedly telling obvious (to most of us anyway) lies to the American people.

If vacationing could be considered “work” then yes, he has been tirelessly working on relaxing and spending taxpayers money on dates with his wife and his many golfing trips, and truly believing that his greatness is all that’s needed for America to succeeded.

How could he possibly be losing sleep? The guy has been napping on the job for almost 3 years now.

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

And of course, all this loss of sleep might make him a little “unbalanced”. At the very least it will require an extended vacation to recover from all the stress it has put on the little boy. Working from 10AM to 3PM 2with a two-hour lunch must be intolerable and clearly devised by racists who know that since he’s black, they should go easy on him. I mean, having to delegate the required tasks to others is no simple thing. Joe Biden has been called in to do the really heavy lifting repeatedly. A man who has a cumulative two brain cells. One of which sleeps all the time and the other which overheats and shuts down when tasked to do more than insult a voter.

Again, these are the people who think they run the country. They’re about to find out that a huge majority disagree with them. And, of course, when that happens, there will be the whining that it’s because we’re a “racist” country. However, the facts speak for themselves. Record unemployment, high gas prices, other prices going up, taxes about to to hit us in the breadbasket, literally…and an administration that can’t find its ass with both hands which in and of itself isn’t so bad except they still think they know how to make it all work.

Intentional or not, the end result is the same. If they are driving it to crisis because they feel that will give them the needed leverage to plunge us into pure socialism, then they have another really big surprise coming. It won’t be the acquiescence of the 1930’s promulgated by the German citizenry; It will be a loud and obnoxious response to Washington that will put them out on their ears. I have never really wanted to kick somebody’s collective ass the way I want to with this version of “government”. There are precious very few people of integrity left. I’ve watched the degradation for half a century and I’m really disgusted.

I feared this very thing when I pondered decades ago when this generation came to power. They do not know balance, they do not know compromise, they are selfish little prigs (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/prig) who think they are smarter than anyone else and that’s it. Never have accomplished anything and continue along those lines. Insanity.

  4. NoNeoCommies says:

I sincerely hope this has no negative impact on his golf game!
He really needs a good long rest.
That is why I have been “tirelessly” pressing him to not run for a second term.
It is only out of deep concern for his health and well being that I strenuously “campaign” for him to be a one term president.

  5. proreason says:

Looking back at the last several weeks, it’s clear that once again, the Obamy plan has been to maximize chaos.

The deals and votes and plans and conferences and reversals and declarations are far far beyond what anybody can keep track of. There’s no pattern to it, and all of the activity will have zero impact on the final result, which was determined long before the chaos began….the debt ceiling will be lifted, there will be some pretend budget cuts, and taxes will remain the same. The only question is whether or not the increase in the debt limit will take the Marxist in Chief through 2012 or not. I doubt whether the criminal cares that much about it anyway. If he has to go through this again, it will be just another crises, and he loves a crises more than anything..

So from the marxists’ perspective, the whole purpose has been to churn and lay blame. It has nothing whatsoever to do government spending. Nothing.

    Controlled frenzy??!! Say what??!!!

This sounds like an American translation of a Russian headline from Pravda. Sorta like pressing the “reset” button. These people are IDIOTS, which isn’t as disturbing to me as their thinking I’m dumb enough to believe such tripe. That one sentence alone would be funny if the consequences weren’t so serious.

Meanwhile, ‘Boy Wonder’ persists in trying to convince us that he really gives a $hi!.

So there you have it, folks. You’re witness to the penultimate achievement of the first affirmative-action President to grace the American political stage.

    Ain’t he sumpin’?

  7. tranquil.night says:

    Poor Boy Blunder.

He’s clearly the only one who cares about his country.

I came down with Montezuma’s yesterday, so I’ve been commanded to get out of the fray for the weekend.

Gotta look after yourself first before you can hope to do something bigger, it seems.

Keep up the good fight my friends. Look at how far we’ve come through this process in holding these guys accountable. They thought that they had the Tea Party finished. Nuh uh.

    Keep on rockin’!

Obama isn’t getting sleep because he’s partying.

(Obama is saying gim me $ gim me $ gim me $

Obama and Biden took a trip to the Norwegian ambassador’s residence in Washington who was not home; away in Norway. So, the they greeted embassy staff. (huh).

Is it any surprise when he’s been meeting with baseball players that he used such wording Monday’s “emergency” speech. Heck, it was the only time he could fit between meeting athletic stars, the famous entertainers at NACCP, and La Rasa.

“That is no way to run the greatest country on Earth. It is a dangerous game we’ve never played before, and we can’t afford to play it now. …”

“The entire world is watching. So let’s seize this moment to show why the United States of America is still the greatest nation on Earth” Obama

We can’t afford Obama’s greatest game on earth anymore.

  9. Papa Louie says:

How does Valerie Jarrett know that Obama is “getting absolutely no sleep”? That’s what I want to know.

I’d have no problem with Obama staying in bed 24-hours a day. But if he wants more sleep, all he has to do is keep his previous promises. Then the debt ceiling would not be an issue.

On Jan 27, 2010 Obama said, “So tonight, I’m proposing specific steps to pay for the trillion dollars that it took to rescue the economy last year. Starting in 2011, we are prepared to freeze government spending for three years. … And if I have to enforce this discipline by veto, I will.”

On Dec 6, 2010 Obama said, “For the next two years, every American family will keep their tax cuts”.

On Jan 4, 2011, Nancy Pelosi said, “Deficit reduction has been a high priority for us. It is our mantra – pay as you go”

So, if Obama and the Democrats had kept the promises they already made, there would be no need to increase the debt ceiling or raise taxes. But because they have failed to keep their word in the past, why is it unreasonable for Tea Party Republicans to insist on a “pay as you go” strategy in the debt ceiling negotiations?

  10. JohnMG says:

Just glanced again at the headline of this thread and considered it should read…….

SOB Obama losing sleep over…..etc. Makes just as much sense and is a truer representation.
