Soros Stooge Wants Trials For Oil Execs
From the UK’s Guardian:
Put oil firm chiefs on trial, says leading climate change scientist
Put oil firm chiefs on trial, says leading climate change scientist
Ed Pilkington in New York
Monday June 23, 2008James Hansen, one of the world’s leading climate scientists, will today call for the chief executives of large fossil fuel companies to be put on trial for high crimes against humanity and nature, accusing them of actively spreading doubt about global warming in the same way that tobacco companies blurred the links between smoking and cancer.
Hansen will use the symbolically charged 20th anniversary of his groundbreaking speech to the US Congress - in which he was among the first to sound the alarm over the reality of global warming - to argue that radical steps need to be taken immediately if the "perfect storm" of irreversible climate change is not to become inevitable.
Speaking before Congress again, he will accuse the chief executive officers of companies such as ExxonMobil and Peabody Energy of being fully aware of the disinformation about climate change they are spreading…
He is also considering personally targeting members of Congress who have a poor track record on climate change in the coming November elections. He will campaign to have several of them unseated…
He will tell the House select committee on energy independence and global warming this afternoon that he is now 99% certain that the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere has already risen beyond the safe level…
He wants to see a moratorium on new coal-fired power plants, coupled with the creation of a huge grid of low-loss electric power lines buried under ground and spread across America, in order to give wind and solar power a chance of competing…
"The problem is not political will, it’s the alligator shoes - the lobbyists. It’s the fact that money talks in Washington, and that democracy is not working the way it’s intended to work." …
Mr. Hansen has finally gone off the deep end.
It’s the fact that money talks in Washington, and that democracy is not working the way it’s intended to work.
This is pretty rich, coming from a man who has been bankrolled by George Soros to the tune of $720,000. (A minor detail the Guardian somehow failed to note.)
Apparently, having the convicted felon and America-hater Mr. Soros calling the tune is how democracy is intended to work.
And mind you, this is the same James Hansen who in the early 1970s was helping to fan the fears about a coming "Ice Age."
Luckily for Mr. Hansen scientists are never held accountable for their false prophecies.

I guess we know we’re making progress against the AGW chicken littles when they have to resort to suing people over their free speech!

Wow, wait a minute - hold the presses: -’the symbolically charged 20th anniversary of his groundbreaking speech to the US Congress - in which he was among the first to sound the alarm over the reality of global warming’- Doesn’t that mean that GW is a hoax, since they claim that in 5, 10, 20, 50 years the World will spontaniously vanish - and damn it all, 20 years later we are all still here and the air/world/humanity/earth are all still up and running A-OK.
What a bunch of moorons. And people buy this bs.

Going badly for the hoaxers.
Pay more in taxes so government will pretend to control the weather — That was aloser from the start.
Where does this fellow get his money? Maybe we should look into his source of funding to better understand his motives? Anyone else think that government scientists may not be the the best honest broker of science facts? Hitler did the same thing, pervert science, for political gains.

This piece of work would be frightening if he weren’t so amusing. He calls himself a scientist, but rather than prove his point he wants to “put on trial” businessmen who disagree with him. He wants to do more than just sue them, he wants them to treat them as criminals on his say so.
The credulous media plays along–what happened to that cap and trade nonsense they were pushing a week ago? No 4th amendment rights for the accused? No explanation of the statute that the accused has violated? Nah, just roll the tumbrels up and off to the Bastille with the lot–unless they give us all of their gouged profits.
From this mope who’s 99% sure the world is going to end. You really can’t make this stuff up.

Hansen is a shill. Anyone associated with George Soros should be subjected to close scrutiny. That would include Gore, Clinton, and Obama.

IBD calls out Hansen:
A Desperate Man

Radicalism: In another example of junk science run amok, NASA scientist James Hansen wants oil executives put on trial for giving “misinformation” about his global warming theory. Is this where society is headed?
If so, we are headed for a dangerous place. Only in totalitarian systems is dissent a criminal offense.
Hansen, who 20 years ago Monday cranked up the global warming scare with his congressional testimony, is a clever promoter. By fusing his pseudo science with the wild-eyed efforts of eco-activists, media dupes and pandering politicians, he’s been able to convince the public that his flawed theory is actually holy writ.
Out of this has emerged a madness that has divided Westerners into “us,” the believers, and “them,” the skeptics who are looked down upon as socially irresponsible reprobates. . . .
Criminalize dissent: That’s one way to ensure the debate is over.
Hansen’s comment is revealing. It’s the sort of declaration made by a desperate man trying to hang on to his declining relevance.
Hansen knows the climate of fear he has stoked is receding as more people start to see through his nonsense. He’s just trying to stir up some storm clouds.

I can’t figure why he’s going after these Big Oil CEOs. When have they ever stood up and battled the whole AGW hoax? They finally showed a little evidence of backbone during their recent stint before Congress. But most of the time, they are putting money into finding alternative energy sources, etc. This jerk needs to stop sucking off the public teat and just shill for his private masters–Soros, Theresa Heinz Kerry, etc.
