Soros To Pour $100M Into Democrat Fronts

From an elated New York Times:

Liberals Steer Outside Money to Grass-Roots Organizing

May 7, 2012

After months on the sidelines, major liberal donors including the financier George Soros are preparing to inject up to $100 million into independent groups to aid Democrats’ chances this fall.

Which you might think would warrant some mention in the headline.

But instead of going head to head with the conservative “super PACs” and outside groups that have flooded the presidential and Congressional campaigns with negative advertising, the donors are focusing on grass-roots organizing, voter registration and Democratic turnout.

These groups are not grassroots. They are the notorious 527 Democrat front groups that the Democrats and the unions put together to try to beat Bush in 2004. Which played a major role in the 2006 and 2008 elections as well. But they have been keeping a low profile lately.

The departure from the conservatives’ approach, which helped Republicans wrest control of the House in 2010, partly reflects liberal donors’ objections to the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision, which paved the way for super PACs and unbridled campaign spending.

What is all this talk about "liberal donors"? We are talking about one man. One man who has given untold hundreds of millions of dollars to the Democrat Party. A man who proudly helped the Nazis and who brags about how much he hates America.

A man who made more money out of the current recession than just about anyone. Which he called "the culmination of his life’s work." A man who also said in 2006 that he intended to get out of politics.

Meanwhile, we are supposed to believe that the Supreme Court’s ruling allowing corporations to contribute to campaigns is the crime of the century.

But in interviews, donors and strategists involved in the effort said they also did not believe they could match advertising spending by leading conservative groups like American Crossroads and Americans for Prosperity, and instead wanted to exploit what they see as the Democrats’ advantage in grass-roots organizing

And by "grass-roots organizing" they mean ‘astroturfing,’ which David Axelrod has pioneered in his business career. These grass-roots groups are radical leftwing groups and union fronts which are all run by a handful of the usual suspects.

In a move likely to draw in other major donors, Mr. Soros will contribute $1 million each to America Votes, a group that coordinates political activity for left-leaning environmental, abortion rights and civil rights groups, and American Bridge 21st Century, a super PAC that focuses on election-oriented research. The donations will be Mr. Soros’s first major contributions of the 2012 election cycle.

According to Discover The Networks, America Votes is a 527 that was launched in 2003. It was first headed by Nancy Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff.

America Votes list its national partners as ACORN, the AFL-CIO, AFSCME, the American Federation of Teachers, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, EMILY’s List, the Human Rights Campaign, MoveOn.org Political Action, the NAACP National Voter Fund, NARAL Pro-Choice America, the National Education Association, People for the American Way, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the Sierra Club, the League of United Latin American Citizens, and Progressive Majority. — In other words, ‘the usual suspects.’

In the 2006, George Soros donated $2.15 million to America Votes. By December 2008, the coalition had received at least $6 million in funding commitments from Soros.

The American Bridge 21st Century super PAC is headed by the loathsome whack-job David Brock, who also runs Soros’ Media Matters.

“George Soros believes the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United opened the floodgates to special interests’ paying for political ads,” said Michael Vachon, a spokesman for Mr. Soros. “There is no way those concerned with the public interest can compete with them. Soros has always focused his political giving on grass-roots organizing and holding conservatives accountable for the flawed policies they promote. His support of these groups is consistent with those views.”

You see, none of 527 front groups represent "special interests."

I know, let’s get a special bill passed to tax all folks
like Soros who can affort to stick their nose in our
business back to subsistence levels, say $80K a
year. Send all that revenue to the Coast Guard.

Soros…the embodiment of the James Bond nemesis. He is the quintessential character that Blofeld, Dr No and all the others all rolled into one….but most like the character Goldfinger.

He sure looks the part. But actions speak louder than words, of course and he simply is a despicable creature. Why can’t he just go sit on his mega-yacht like other megalomaniacs and take in the day? Do a little spear-fishing….catch up on the world markets, fly off to Bermuda or Capistrano….you know….things the mega-rich like to do without the subtext of world domination and destruction.

Or, donate his money to the archaeological studies departments of colleges….build something really cool. No, he has chosen to use his money to finance the new world order, as he sees it and he finds willing boot-lickers everywhere. Something the Nazis taught him very well.

Very true–there’s nothing good in his heart, no joy, no happiness, no humor. Only the thirst for power and money.
