Spain Nabs Ex-Gitmo Detainee For Recruiting Terrorists

From the Wall Street Journal:

Spanish Police Break Up Alleged Jihadist Recruitment Network

Suspected Leader is Former Detainee at Guantanamo Bay

By David Román | June 16, 2014

MADRID—Spanish police broke up what they said was a jihadist recruitment network in Madrid, led by a former detainee at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, that sent volunteers to fight in Syria and Iraq with al Qaeda-inspired rebels.

Don’t worry. We have our eye on him. He was that close to getting droned. (Sarcasm.)

Police detained nine people who allegedly fought alongside the Sunni militia Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, or ISIS, officials said.

How timely of them.

A person familiar with the probe said the suspected leader of the network is Lahcen Ikassrien, Moroccan by birth and nationalized Spanish. He spent four years at Guantanamo after he was captured in 2001 in Afghanistan, where he allegedly fought with the Taliban. He has denied being a Taliban member.

And he probably took up yoga and read a bio of Martin Luther King, Jr. So we had to let him go.

A number of former Guantanamo inmates have risen to prominence in jihadist groups, especially in recent years. By January, about 29% of 614 detainees released from the prison in Cuba had returned to violence, according to the Director of National Intelligence.

Well, there are a few bad apples in every barrel.

In Spain, Mr. Ikassrien has been a prominent voice for the closure of the Guantanamo camp, giving numerous interviews with local media and taking part in human-rights events organized by Amnesty International…

How absolutely perfect.

Another heart warming photo of Iraqi army volunteers willing to fight the terrorists. They don’t even have uniforms, but some are young boys. Footage watching them beg to join the Iraqi army is pretty heart warming too. Iraq got a touch of the American spirit.

Go brave volunteers, and shoot down the ISIS that are now shooting rockets and weapons that Hillary’s crowd gave the Syrian rebels to overthrow Assad who refused to obey her order to step down.
