Circumcision Does Not Stop Gay AIDS

From a circumspect Associated Press:

Circumcision doesn’t protect gays from AIDS virus

By Mike Stobbe, AP Medical Writer – Tue Aug 25

ATLANTA – Circumcision, which has helped prevent AIDS among heterosexual men in Africa, doesn’t help protect gay men from the virus, according to the largest U.S. study to look at the question.

The research, presented at a conference Tuesday, is expected to influence the government’s first guidance on circumcision.

Circumcision "is not considered beneficial" in stopping the spread of HIV through gay sex, said Dr. Peter Kilmarx, of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

However, the CDC is still considering recommending it for other groups, including baby boys and high-risk heterosexual men.

UNAIDS and other international health organizations promote circumcision, the cutting away of the foreskin, as an important strategy for reducing the spread of the AIDS virus. There hasn’t been the same kind of push for circumcision in the United States.

For one thing, nearly 80 percent of American men are already circumcised — a much higher proportion than most other countries. Worldwide, the male circumcision rate is estimated at about 30 percent.

Also, while HIV spreads primarily through heterosexual sex in Africa and some other parts of the world, in the United States it has mainly infected gay men. Only about 4 percent of U.S. men are gay, according to preliminary CDC estimates released at the conference this week. But they account for more than half of the new HIV infections each year.

Previous research has suggested circumcision doesn’t make a difference when anal sex is involved. The latest study, by CDC researchers, looked at nearly 4,900 men who had anal sex with an HIV-infected partner and found the infection rate, about 3.5 percent, was approximately the same whether the men were circumcised or not.

Government recommendations on circumcision are still being written and may not be final until next year, following public comment. CDC doctors and many experts believe there is a good argument for recommending that baby boys and heterosexual men at a higher risk for HIV be circumcised.

The definition of "high risk" is still being discussed, said Kilmarx, chief of the epidemiology branch in the CDC’s HIV division.

Circumcision is a sensitive issue laden with cultural and religious meaning, particularly when babies are involved, Kilmarx acknowledged.

"It’s seen by many as more than just as medical procedure," he said. It’s possible the government would just recommend better education for doctors and parents about the procedure’s benefits and risks, he added.

The prospect of the government promoting circumcision of infants has already drawn fire from an advocacy group called Intact America. The organization, based in Tarrytown, N.Y., parked a motorized billboard this week outside the hotel hosting the HIV conference, displaying the message: "Tell the CDC that circumcising babies doesn’t prevent HIV."

"It’s removing healthy, functioning, sexual and protective tissue from a person who cannot consent. You’re mutilating a child," said Georgeanne Chapin, the group’s executive director.

Maybe they’re not doing it right.

    I have no questions.

And….”paging dr obama…..you’re needed in the ER, stat to have your head examined”

I swear, the longer this presidency lasts, the more puerile it becomes. What’s next? Having everyone take an aspirin and drink a coke to prevent pregnancy?

Why do intellectuals think they “know all things” and then invariably end up showing their ignorance all over the place? It’s like they’re on a mission to show just how much they DON’T know.

If only 4% of men are gay, how many women are gay? Certainly a lower percentage than that, and there are more women than men.

So how can 4% (max) of the population control so much of the politic agenda in a 300M person country? It’s flabergasting.

The answer is probably that normal people are too busy being normal to have time to participate at the level necessary to influence the overall agenda. So the topics for national discussion are established by sexual perverts and other radical nutters who all have extremely narrow and angry personal axes to grind

In Africa there is a rise in cannabilism, because they believe eating someone healthy will cure aids. Also, a myth they are practicing is that if a man with aids rapes a virgin they will be cured. Course the predominiate muslim country has been raping virgins, for years. The Africans are also scamming, selling animals parts and bones, as human for money.
Obama wrote that as a child in Indonesia he hid alot of witch craft he participated in from his mother. He believes in night-walkers in Africa. These are ghosts that can kill animals and all. He told his girls he did not know where their grandmother went after she died. If Obama is write, I hope his grandmother stalks him at night for defaming her and disrespecting her.

Do you think Africans will start selling other Africans again soon? As living organ gardens because slavery has already been tried and stuck on the white devils.

Russian roulette with a gun with 28 chambers.

20 times and the chances of getting Aids are 50-50.

And they demand that we respect them.

This same Dr. Kilmarx is quoted in a piece in the NY Times on August 23, 2009:

~ But Dr. Peter Kilmarx, chief of epidemiology for the division of H.I.V./AIDS prevention at the C.D.C., said that any step that could thwart the spread of H.I.V. must be given serious consideration.

“We have a significant H.I.V. epidemic in this country, and we really need to look carefully at any potential intervention that could be another tool in the toolbox we use to address the epidemic,” Dr. Kilmarx said. “What we’ve heard from our consultants is that there would be a benefit for infants from infant circumcision, and that the benefits outweigh the risks.” ~

I have just one question. Why in Hades are condoms manufactured?

    • Rusty Shackleford says:

“…..that could be another tool in the toolbox”

What an interesting choice of words.

However, the third reich had a solution to its problems too, and all of them were “given serious consideration”.

And, HIV is NOT an epidemic and it’s STILL 99% a homosexual problem. Nature’s way of saying, “don’t do this”. In one sense, it’s nature’s way of killing off the drug abusers, pillow-biting-butt-pirates, etc.

But of course, AIDS was invented by rich white people to kill off blacks.

      *sigh*…..my head hurts.

Common Sense, of which liberals have none, would say stop putting your wee-wee where it doesn’t belong!

    • ilzito guacamolito says:

Don’t get all wee-weed up, now!

    • Confucius says:

Walk into any retail pharmacy and you’ll find half of the store filled with items to treat diarrhea and the other half constipation.

So isn’t it odd that someone would knowingly let someone put something up there?

I’m gonna put this right up there with you can catch the clap sitting on a toilet seat.

    ‘Circumspect’ – very witty, Steve.

  7. Move_Zig says:

Actually, 4 percent sounds quite high. Most other, non-politicized studies place the figure closer to between one and two percent. Kinsey et al inflated their estimated numbers to as high as 10 percent to give them strength in numbers / greater acceptance / greater political influence.

While Circumcision Reduces the Risk of HIV Infection in Heterosexual U.S. Men (December 17, 2008) http://www.idsociety.org/Content.aspx?id=12954

… what homosexuals do bypasses all the bodies’ natural defenses and obviates any benefit you might gain from being circumcised…

see Homosexuality – a clear and present danger

The bottom line is this: what homosexuals do is incredibly risky and self-destructive behavior. They have at least a 50 percent chance risk, most likely closer to 70 percent chance, of contracting HIV and thereafter AIDS.

But all these facts cannot be openly discussed in a politically-correct world. We are to ‘celebrate’ this form of deadly and costly (it costs society about $600,000 to treat each AIDS patient before they die, the vast majority of whom have contracted it by self-induced misbehavior) practice.

But instead, those who own guns, smoke cigarettes or eat fatty food are to be humiliated, hunted down and outlawed.

Time to start that civil disobedience thing.
