Study: Obesity Depletes Earth’s Resources

Study: Obesity Could Lead To Depletion Of Earth’s Resources

June 21, 2012

ATHENS, Ga. (CBS Atlanta) – A recent study conducted by scientists in London found that the obese persons of the world are playing an increasingly large role in the rate at which the planet’s finite resources are used.

“Increasing population fatness could have the same implications for world food energy demands as an extra half a billion people living on the earth,” the study concluded.

So it turns out that you shouldn’t finish all the food on your plate, because children are starving in India.

The findings were published in the BMC Public Health journal earlier this year.

Research was conducted based on the theory that the body mass of a population should be factored into the amount of energy it burns, in addition to the number of people residing in a certain region.

Though obesity touches all corners of the Earth, it was found that Americans were especially weighing down the planet.

We didn’t see that coming. Maybe we need to do start on redistributing obesity.

“If all countries had the [body mass index] distribution of the USA, the increase in human biomass of 58 million [metric tons] would be equivalent in mass to an extra 935 million people of average body mass, and have energy requirements equivalent to that of 473 million adults,” the research dictated.

Data collected on the BMI and height distribution of the average adult in each country was used to calculate the total biomass resulting from a population’s size and average body mass. The percentage of those in a given country who are overweight and obese was also a factor.

“Although the concept of biomass is rarely applied to the human species, the ecological implications of increasing body mass are significant and ought to be taken into account when evaluating future trends and planning for future resource challenges,” the study found. ”Tackling population fatness may be critical to world food security and ecological sustainability.”

Just think about this a little. Isn’t it more of waste of food to eat and then exercise just for the sake of exercising? Isn’t that a waste of food?

Besides, doesn’t exercising cause people to throw off more body heat, and make them exhale more carbon dioxide, and thereby cause more global warming?

It sounds to us like lazy — that is, sedentary people — might be better for the planet, after all. We should encourage them.

Editor pick by a bunch of people with only two names, no titles that wrote this garbage.

I don’t see where the Editor nor the staff of the journal are reliable or doctors either.

GBJ. That was one call, two ball, cure all, funny. Thanks, I needed it!

Ah yes, the left hates fatties. Lower class fatties. That’s why New York wants to ban the sale of 20 oz sodas but they won’t touch 1,000 calorie cream sauce or filet mignon in their restaurants. It’s not about the Earth, although I wouldn’t be surprised if the fascists tried to slap a carbon tax on beef. It’s about getting everyone to fall in line for government health care. It’s also about bringing the American majority down a notch, teaching them to feel ashamed of who they are. The University of Minnesota came out with some racist posters to accuse light skinned people of “white privilege,” Obama himself complained about patriots who “cling to guns and God,” and libs use every “-ism” and “phobia” in the book to silence a debate. Remember when it was acceptable to question gay marriage? The legislatures will shove it down the people’s throats no matter what. The California school system will teach this belief to children regardless the religion of the parents. No doubt courses criticizing “hetero-normalcy” will be standard down the road. But holding a gay pride luncheon at the White House and flipping off a painting of Reagan is apparently the new standard. Up is down, right is wrong, the government is here to help make sense of it all.

Right on Beauty! One more little known fact is. Obesity led to the demise of the dinosaur’s, “the missing link” and Big Foot. The jury is still out on glaciers. The only thing here I see that needs to trim down, is government.

The socialists will always make up excuses as to why their jobs are justified and needed more than ever. Every new program is a pad on their resumes. It’s like car company trying to argue why a newer, clunkier, more expensive model is better than the old one — even if the old one ran fine. The “obesity crisis” is a manufactured crisis. Why do we have obesity? Because industry has been so successful in bringing a first world country enough food to eat. Because people are comfortable enough that they do no need to struggle physically as much as they used to. Nothing to be ashamed of, and losing weight for health reasons should be a personal decision. Of course, like every decision the Obama – tards feel the need to make it the government’s priority.
