Sudan Woman Gets Death For Christian Conversion

From Reuters:

Sudanese woman sentenced to death for converting to Christianity

By Michael Georgy | May 15, 2014

KHARTOUM (Reuters) – A Sudanese court has sentenced a 27-year-old woman to death for converting to Christianity, judicial sources said.

And the sad thing is this is nothing new. It happens fairly regularly in Muslim countries. In fact, such sentences seldom make the mainstream news.

Mariam Yahya Ibrahim had been ordered to abandon her newly adopted Christian faith and return to Islam. She had also been charged with adultery for marrying a Christian man.

Reuters seems seems to have left out a number of details which have been reported elsewhere. For instance, Ms. Ibrahim is actually facing two punishments: execution for her “apostasy,” and 100 lashes for marrying a Christian.

Also Ms. Ibrahim is eight months pregnant. (But reportedly her punishments will be held off until her child is born. Allah is merciful!) In fact, Ms. Ibrahim has been in prison with her first child, a twenty month old boy, whom the father is not allowed access to. (After her execution, both kids will be taken away from him, since he is Christian.)

On top of all that, according to Christianity Today, Ms. Ibrahim is also a medical doctor. And she is also married to Sudanese man who obtained US citizenship several years ago. — Which, if all of this is true, one wonders why Reuters didn’t report it.

Judge Abbas al Khalifa asked Ibrahim whether she would return to Islam. After she said "I am a Christian" the death sentence was handed down, the judicial sources said. Outside the court, about 50 people held up signs that read "Freedom of Religion", while some Islamists celebrated the ruling, chanting "God is Greatest".

Nobody held up a sign with a #Hashtag?

Young Sudanese university students have mounted a series of protests near Khartoum University in recent weeks asking for an end to human rights abuses, more freedoms and better social and economic conditions.

Western embassies and Sudanese activists have condemned what they said were human rights abuses and called on the Sudanese Islamist-led government to respect freedom of faith.

Are the US and the rest of the Western countries going to cut foreign aid to Sudan over this, like they have threatened to do to other Africa countries over their anti-gay laws?

(Just kidding. Of course they won’t.)

It would be nice if the lashes could come after the execution. Allah
would likely approve, in the name of humanitarian treatment of his
adherents. Perhaps when this religion evolves, much like that of
the Christians, things will tone down a bit. Check “Albigensian
Heresy” for some interesting facts about loving thy neighbor, or
the capture of Jerusalem in the Crusades. I don’t think Jesus would
approve of all the blood spilt in His name.

OK…socialists, where is your “compassion”? Where is your notion of “fairness”?

The obvious answer has to be that socialists in this nation hate Christianity so much that they are willing to endorse barbaric behavior by knuckle-dragging muslims by their silence.

For some reason, the vast number of senior-citizens in our government who were raised in Christian homes have a real chip on their shoulders about mum & dad taking them church. Such anger can only be explained as petulance. It has been highligted that this presidency is the pop-culture administration with knownothing preppies and frat-kids running the show.

    Very sad.
