Supreme Leader Says Iran Will Not Yield

From Iran’s Press TV:

Leader: Iran not to give in to pressure

Wed, 24 Jun 2009

Amid protests in the aftermath of Iran’s presidential election, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution says the Islamic establishment will never yield to pressure.

In a Wednesday meeting with high-ranking parliamentarians in Tehran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said that the country’s affairs must be handled based on the law of the land as well as the principles of the Islamic Revolution.

The Leader stressed the importance of the execution of law and restoration of order in the country, adding that violation of the law would lead to dictatorship.

"On the current situation regarding the presidential election, I insist on the implementation of the law. That means we will not take a single step beyond the law. For sure, neither the system nor the people will give in to pressure at any price."

Ayatollah Khamenei went on to urge parliament officials to fully cooperate with the government in the administration of the country.

Pointing to the complicated responsibilities of executive bodies, Ayatollah Khamenei said the Parliament (Majlis) "should help the government in such a rough journey and must not be too hard on the administration."

It’s almost as if Mr. Khamenei does not care about world opinion.

Of course he can rest assured that he is still in the good graces of Mr. Obama.

The dickens you say! Next you’ll be telling us that he won’t show up on July 4th for a Hebrew National hotdog with all the trimmings.

What pressure? A strongly worded letter from the UN? A frowny face from our fearless leader? What do they have to fear? The last time they sensed weakness in the U.S. they kicked our ass and rubbed our faces in it for more than a year. They know Jimmy Carter is back and they are going to take advantage of it.

Give our own Dear Leader time…. He’ll just talk it over with them. They will then understand and all will be better. (MUCH sarc)

I have this terribly ugly thought that o-blah-blah will eventually deliver this long winded, thick, pandering speech to the Iranian people to try to quell them and tell them to settle their differences diplomatically and consistent with – you know – the rule of law.

Gawd!!! I can almost hear it and see it. I gotta go take a valium and lay down.

Yes, Iran is a dictatorship pretending to be a republic and at least now, the entire world knows it.

One hopes the liberal morons will learn something from watching the brutal repression in Iran. Especially as they want talks with Iran, without preconditions, over the nuclear program that Iran is clearly lying about…a country that charges families for the bullets used to kill their children is a country that has no honesty.
