Swat Team Deployed Against Tea Partiers

From Illinois’ Quincy Herald Whig:

About 200 tea party members make their feelings known during president’s Quincy visit

Quincy Tea Party members wanted President Barack Obama to know they were present Wednesday afternoon during his appearance in Quincy.

About 200 people protesting Obama’s policies loudly chanted "USA, USA" as his motorcade made its way out of the Oakley-Lindsay Center, then sang "Hey, hey, hey, goodbye" as the vehicle went by.

The participants were vocal but well-behaved as they stood on the north side of York Street across from the OLC.

"Having the president come is really something," organizer Steve McQueen said. "But we do not agree with all the policies of Obama and the current Congress, and we wanted to make sure he knows we are here."

The crowd carried signs with messages ranging from "Give Us Liberty Not Debt" to yellow flags saying "Don’t Tread On Me."

Urged on by people with megaphones, the crowd shouted slogans, among them "Remember in November" and "You work for us."

Tea party groups protest government spending and policies infringing on personal freedoms. The Quincy Tea Party had a well-attended rally in Washington Park last fall.

"We’ve always been respectful and acted with dignity," McQueen said. "We are out to make our case and make it peacefully."

There were a few tense moments when the crowd moved west down York toward Third Street after the president’s motorcade arrived. A Secret Service agent asked the crowd to move back across the street to the north side.

When the crowd didn’t move and began singing "God Bless, America" and the national anthem, Quincy Deputy Police Chief Ron Dreyer called for members of the Mobile Field Force to walk up the street.

The officers, mainly from Metro East departments near St. Louis and dressed in full body armor, marched from the east and stood on the south side of York facing the protesters.

There was no physical contact, and the officers did not come close to the crowd, but there were catcalls and more than a few upset tea party members, including a woman who shouted, "This is communism!"

McQueen also assisted in asking people to step back to the north side of York. The crowd moved back, the officers stayed for about 15 minutes and left, and there were no other incidents.

"It’s just a communication issue. We were trying to get them to move across the street," Quincy Deputy Police Chief Curt Kelty said. "We were just trying to move them back, they complied, and it was fine."

Several of the Quincy Tea Party members thanked Kelty as they left the area.

John Spake, owner of Comstock Castle, said the tea party isn’t about Democrats or Republicans, but citizens concerned about national issues.

"It’s strictly about issues, issues of individual freedoms and the Constitution," Spake said. "And spending our way out is not the answer to our economic crisis."

Rick Pattison of Quincy, a teacher who spent 24 years in the U.S. Air Force, said he came to the gathering because he likes the things the tea party stands for.

"I just hope he (Obama) learns something from the ordinary people here," Pattison said. "This is flyover country, but there are two sides to every issue."

Members of Quad Cities and St. Louis tea parties also made the trip. Many laughed as two men walked in front of the gathering, one of them holding a long tree branch.

"Obama’s money tree," the man said.

McQueen urged those gathered to attend a Quincy Tea Party event Wednesday night at the Holiday Inn.

Scheduled speakers are former Republican governor candidate Adam Andrzejewski, 17th Congressional District GOP candidate Bobby Schilling, and Andrew Breitbart, a noted conservative blogger who will appear via video feed.

Oh, yes. There were "a few tense moments" there.

Obviously, this wasn’t overkill at all.

Just a very sensible precaution in view of these violent proclivities of these Tea Partisans.

And their rabble rousing songs.

    In show biz (theater, movies et al) when you want to depict a punch in the jaw, you don’t point the audience attention to the hand that’s supposed to be doing the punching, because then they’ll notice that you didn’t connect.

    You play the recoil and the effect of the punch as loud and strong as you can. You yell, you grunt, you fall over backwards. That makes it look convincingly like you GOT punched.

    That all makes it work for the audience.

    Same principle here.

    No difference.

    Maybe you will start believing it now:

    America has been a fascist police-state since the 50s:

    ~Involvement in Vietnam
    ~Involvement in Iran
    ~Our actions partly caused the disaster in Cambodia in the 70s
    ~The great society
    ~Our involvement in Cuba
    ~Our involvement in Panama in the last 80s
    ~Our tampering in Afghanistan in both the 80s, and 2000s.
    ~Our involvement in Iraq/Iran War
    ~Our involvementin Iraq 1990-1991
    ~Our involvement in Kosovo
    ~Our involvement in Somalia

    Back when I was a kid we could:
    +shoot fireworks
    +not wear a seatbelt
    +not wear a helmet
    +buy a gun anytime we wanted for whatever reason we wanted
    +drink anywhere we wanted
    +smoke anywhere we wanted
    +get in a bar brawl and no one went to jail or got sued
    +say what we wanted on campus without being thrown out of college
    +had privacy in our car/home/phone and other private property

    Now look at our country? I hardly recognize it anymore! The sand-farmers in Afghanistan have more freedoms than 100% of the American population!

    Disgraceful……….

    Soon we will hear
    ?Donde esta el te”la fiesta? el pilotos policiales ! Contra la pared!

    What hypocrits! When the left has a protest it becomes violent almost everytime and nothing is said or done about it. I wonder what goes through the heads of these SWAT-BOTS when they have to club or shoot an unarmed senior citizen when its their right to protest. What went through the heads of the National Guard when they fired on students at Kent State? The snipers at Ruby ridge? The ATF at Waco? When Obama goes after the 2nd amendment the crap will hit the fan. Be prepared !

    Crack a few skulls of the granny terrorists.

    That’ll teach the greed mongers to stop complaining about getting their just desserts.

    I just had a thought (it happens).
    Just like the hippies did in the ’60s, the Tea Partiers need to bring flowers to the rallies.
    When any police show up with rifles, put a flower in the end of each barrel (with a few videographers in tow).
    It makes a mockery of their armed presence.

  8. Reality Bytes says:

    Gotta ask the question, how many behind those helmets are on our side?

    I can just hear the Obalmybots talking in the dark corners of their HQ.
    ~~~~~
    Those pesky tea partiers!
    They refuse to play fair!
    They won’t behave like racists!
    They don’t get violent!
    They won’t break the law!
    They won’t get out of control!
    We have all this stuff we can do to punish them and show the world how racist and evil they are but they just refuse to play fair.
    Well…lets see…maybe we can plant people in their tea parties to cause a riot….Oh, that didn’t work…They just laughed at us.
    Maybe we can bring out the riot squad…yeah…lets do that…that will make’em mad enough to act out!
    Ummm that didn’t work…they just break out in patriotic song
    I think the left is getting befuddled!
      I don’t know if you remember Rush Limbaugh’s “Dan’s Bake Sale” quite a few years back.
      The conservatives were clean, spent a lot of money, picked up after themselves, didn’t commit crime etc.
      Then I saw pictures of an Earth Day rally……FILTHY!
      Here is what happened if you didn’t know: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k841nlsHC0M
      Mith,
      All three of the tea parties I went to and even the DC July 4 tea party, according to my son who went, always left the grounds clean. And all the participants were respectful and orderly, although very vocal which is their right,
      I know this is so frustrating to the left who wants sooo bad to have something they can get purchase on to ridicule the right.
      I think it’s been so long since the left has had anything at all to do with the REAL average American they think everyone behaves and thinks like the ‘for hire’ thugs they are used to dealing with.
      BTW Do you remember seeing the photos of the mall after Obalmy’s swearing in? What a filthy mess. Of course there weren’t any tea party types there.
    Lions, and tigers, and bears! Oh my!
    This (not so) precision marching posse looked a lot like the batch of “african american yutes” that they filmed just after the election marching in and claiming o-blah-blah made it possible for them to finally become engineers, lawyers, astronauts, etc., etc.. Then they did that goofy triangulation thing with their arms chanting “yes, we can!”
    The visible “low energy level” .. the poor, poor precision .. the uncertain movements and direction .. the lack of focus (the cops(?) are looking away from the crowd) .. suggests that either their heart wasn’t in the job; or o-blah-blah dug his camoflauged yutes up and dressed them up like SWAT.
    Wouldn’t put anything past this charlatan-in-chief.
    • MinnesotaRush says:
      No shields or batons, either.
      I’m really thinking this was done for “show” .. for the camera’s.
    • proreason says:
      “I’m really thinking this was done for “show” .. for the camera’s.”
      So it must have been ordered directly by the propagandistration.
    • jobeth says:
      Your catch on the poor precision, lack of baton and shields etc is something only men….and military women of course…would notice. I missed that completely. But how right you are.
      Why would they show up with out their weapons and protection if they really felt there would be trouble. This is nothing but intimidation and show.
      And interestingly enough…as far as I know the only time swat has ever been called out at a tea party…it would be in Illinois. Where else?
      I think you guys are right…Obalmy himself probably left orders for this. lol
      Only makes them look ridiculous.
  11. crate says:
    This is just awfull.. How about the HR2499 Puerto Rico state… Sorry off topic, but Important
    • jobeth says:
      Hate to say it but this is one more thing to be rammed down our thoats. Look how stealthily this happened.
      All the better to get more minority votes with my dear. And more taxes.
      The progressives will stop at nothing to get those votes. Even word questions to the PR people to trick them in saying they want to become a state.
      Right now they have all the pluses of citizenship without paying taxes. (except maybe voting in the actual pres election)
      Why would they want to become a state? They have always rejected statehood…until this year. Watch….its coming…in spite of what the PR’s want, in spite of what we want.
      Votes and taxes…that’s what it’s all about.
